headphone jack busted? - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

hey guys! got a problem. i think my headphone jack is busted but i have no idea why and how...
it was working perfectly fine, and last night i tried 2 hook up my headphones 2 listen 2 sm music, and, well.... there was music in the headphones, which is a good thing... but there was also music coming out from the main speaker. thats like -> 2 in 1??? not a good thing. the point of headphones is to listen 2 stuff privately
can anyone help me on this one? please!!!!

Hi
It seems that your connector socket (not plug) has worn out.
It happens. Now it doesn't disconnect two pairs of pins inside your device, which should tell it to shut up, because headphones are inserted
You have three options:
- find an official service (can cost you much)
- find some tech-geek who will open your device and bend connector plates a little (or do it yourself) (no cost, but kinda risky
- huh... no third option I guess...
Good luck

interesting
interestin ill think bout it... though sm good tech service in my area might be out of the question, and my guarantee is in Kuwait, not where i am now:/ so i'm sorta messed up only a bit though
if i'll be extremely extremely desperate i guess i might end up tryin that out...after sorta tearing apart my old nokias (around 5 of them), and finally i'll go for the nokia 6600 and 7610....then ill calculate the odds of screwing up my baby....and well..... we'll c
thanks for the advice man
but seriously, i'll think it over, might give it a shot...how hard can it be...right?

its all fixed i did it woohooo sweet

It is nice to hear

My original broke a few months ago and I searched online. Found a 5-pack. Sorry, I don't know where I bought them, but at least you know they are out there.
thanks
i have search and search and still but thanks
I lost one and broke one the other day. I called up support in my country (Taiwan) and they carry just hooks in the office for maybe 6 - 7 bucks USD so i would try contacting support.
I think it is a bad design cuz they are easy to lose and its getting a bit loose.
One of many suppliers I found in 5 seconds, searching for "bt8010 earhook":

I've noticed this, too. The socket for the hook is now larger than it used to be so even new hooks are a little loose.
thanks for the
thanks for the lick i think the design of the loop sucks but the ear piece is great i can hear music and do my calls and not be worried of getting wires tangled like the wired ones.the odd think some people ask me if it is 2 bluetooth??. any ways for now i dont see like changing them for something else thanks
first time it broke for me about 2 years ago, I wasnt able to find it anywhere, so I wrote request to jabra customer service and got a pair for free in the mail.
now it's available for better price than from other sellers http://www.shop.jabra.com/jabra/Shop?Dsp=30007&PCR=1:401

Should I buy Tilt with broken speakers?

There's a craigslist ad on a used tilt with broken speakers for $80. I emailed him what happened, and he said that he dropped it. I later asked if it was repairable, and he said that its as easy as taking off the back and putting the speakers in like lego pieces. Everything is functional but that he said.
I've been looking around the forums and it looks like people fix their speakers by flashing radio, but thats software, this is hardware. So can it be fixed easily?

They'll only 'fix their speaker' by flashing, if they've put the wrong ROM/Radio combination on the device in the first place - software doesn't tend to break like hardware can and as long as it's right to start with, it usually stays that way. You can see whats required by checking out the service manual which is downloadable through the Kaiser wiki. It'd also be worth getting a price on a new speaker and any tools and consumable parts required to change it in order to help you decide if what's on offer is really such a good deal.

You will be better off paying a little more and buying a fully working phone. Look around, I have seen deals on Tilt from 125 to 200. Broken speaker is a very well noticable symptom, but some other things may be broken which you find out after buying. The hardware chips do not do well, when they experience a hard drop.
I'm selling a brand new Tilt with 4 batteries, Boxwave case w/ belt clip, USB Dock/Battery charger, wall charger and USB cable for $199 shipped.

Putting it on ebay today.
Thanks for the replies, I was about to buy it too. Yeah, more hardware could've been damaged. I never thought of it that way. Oh well, I guess i'll just wait for a cheap fuze deal or something.

May need a new earphone!

The sound on the earphone is getting faint and kinda scratchy. I plan on getting a new housing for the phone soon and would like to fix this while I have the phone open. My questions are...
1. Is the earphone replacable or is it hardwired to the circuitboard?
2. Any idea where I can get a replacement of it, if it is an option?
Ive looked at a few online stores but I cant find the certain part or if its included. Thanks for the help, Im really into this phone.
you can buy a whole earphones for like 4$

[Q] Help!!!!! Back Speaker Not Working

I bought a new motherboard to my n1 because power button wasn't working. I disassembled it fine and swapped the motherboard. When reassembling following this video: www[.]youtube[.]com/watch?v=60yNy4xYcFo , the back speaker don't work anymore. It gives me no sound whatsoever. Everything else is working fine flawlessly, even the power button.
The only difference I had from the video is that my speaker from the back was de-attached after dissembling and I had to put it back and from what I tried, it only fits one way.
Anyone can help me solve this issue please?
i dont know if this is helpful or not, but some of the n1 is modular and you may be able to replace the speaker easily. :-/ i feel for you. dont forget too, you can use a headset or bluetooth headset stereo/no stereo
:-/
My speaker seems like it died today. I have had my N1 since last January.
I searched the forums and didn't find too much on dead speakers.
Are people having this happen more now that the N1 is getting up in age and if so what are people replacing them with?
I found a reference to one site but they want you to buy 5 of them minimum. I am looking for recommendations if anyone has any.
Thanks

there was one thread in the accessories sub forum where some guy purchased a nexus one speaker to replace his failed speaker. i think he was forced to buy in quantity though, like 5 speakers at once or something. but i think his replacement was successful.
this was probably 8 months ago or more. but it was definitely in the accessories sub forum for nexus one. try search around there maybe it has useful info.
I vaguely remember that thread, and I think it may actually have been the ear piece speaker that he replaced... Might be wrong though...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I tested my speaker with a multitester and I get no reading.
I ordered a speaker off ebay for about $6. I will report back when I get in and install it.

OK, I got my speaker from ebay and installed it. Everything is working again and the multi-tester gave a reading on the new one. So I think I blow out the OEM one. I just hope this one lasts.

Wobbly Audio Jack -- does anybody else have this issue?

Hello! I'm new to this phone, coming from a 2 year old Xperia ZL.
I've been using it for one week already and I can't help but notice that every time I plug in a pair of headphones (headset or otherwise) the audio jack wobbles a bit. It's not enough to be worrying, since audio doesn't stop or anything like that, but I noticed the plug follows the female (black plastic) part on the phone. Does anybody else have this problem? I'm getting a bluetooth headset just in case, but anyways.
I've seen somewhere on a Sony forum that someone's audio jack downright stopped working and he had to get a replacement. And even the replacement phone had the wobbly jack. I just wanted to know if this is a common issue or just an isolated case.
I have the same behavior, but dont worry about this.

Thanks! I recently met with another person who also has the Z3C (they are hard to come by, since it isn't sold officially in my country) and not only he also had the same behavior but he hadn't even noticed it until I showed him! I guess it's common and it should be fine if handled with care.
