Change input for a specific app? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

This is for the Gurus here Is there any app or any other way to set different input methods for different apps without manually switching it?
For example, for contact editing and notes I would like to use the screen keyboard, but when I type sms I'd like to use the on screen phonepad. It's kind of a pain to switch manually every time. Is this possible at all?

default keyboard

i searched all over and cant seem to find it, if there even is a way. is there a way to change my default keyboard to a different one?
thanks in advance
What do you mean? When using the on screen keyboard, you want to set a particular input mode to be the default?
like during texting i want to have PCM keyboard as my default so i dont have to keep selecting it. is there a way?
I know that you can remove some of the other input options, using Sktools or PocketTweak (freeware)
you could always remove all the other options from showing up, so the only thing that shows up is the one you want.
with sktools you can set default sip - BUT sometimes it crashes...
there is an app called "sip change" try my search function in signiture

Input settings problem

Hi Guys
Sorry if this has been posted, I did do a search and couldn't find a solution.
Whenever I change the input type in the input settings, it immediately defaults back to compact qwerty when I go back in to look.
Is this a known problem?
Thanks in advance
Nobody have any ideas?
After flashing the new ROM i've the same problem.
Every time i switch the keyboard layout, it automatically returns to compact QWERTY.
Can the layout be set in the registry?
I haven't found any solution yet.
fixing the default imput method
I also had this problem and it was driving me mad! However, searching the forum I came across a recommendation to use a little program called SIPchange. I installed this (it's free!) and it allows you to set any imput method as the default. So far it seems to work.
The only problem I now have is that the Letter Recogniser doesn't show me any suggested words as I enter text, despite this option being switched on in the settings. Any ideas anyone?

A FEW Questions about my HTC DIamond *Sprint* (SPB Mobile Shell 3.0)

Ok I am making this thread because I cannot seem to locate a thread that will help me with what I am trying to do, I have a few questions about getting my HTC Diamond Tweaked in such a manor, lets begin.
1. I would like to change the default email program from whatever it is now to something that will allow you more than 5 email addresses like q3mail (I have 10.....mostly work related). Now I ask because I need something that works in real time, I tried forwarding emails but they work when the server feels the need to check and there is no way to change that on my end. Also anyone knows how to set up q3mail or whatever that program is that seems like my best bet.
2. I want to change the contacts list and dial screen from the default one to iContact and iDialer or something better than the default one.....
3. I would like to change the photo viewer from the default picture viewer to Rescos Photo Viewer
Now when I say I want to change it from the default I mean that I want to keep the same icon etc etc but when I click on say contacts or dial screen it brings up iContact/iDialer instead of the default one etc etc...
Also side note, .NET 3.5 seems to mess with my phone, it makes all ringtones silent no matter what the setting is, as well as messes up some of my app icons...like MP3 Trimmer looks all weird like the colors are off.....or sometimes you just dont even see an icon (I have tried a hard reset and install) and I cant seem to figure out why is that
As a matter of fact dont even worry about the contacts list app because I am using SPB mobile 3.0 and the contacts in that will do....but I do need a better dialer
ive been lookin everywhere to change the default contacts to icontacts as well.
Cant find anything.
Bump?

Choose keyboard based on orientation?

Howdy.
I find that there are two keyboards that I use most - swype and the HTC_IME mod keyboard. I use swype exclusively in the portrait orientation as it is optimized for one-handed use and use the HTC keyboard in landscape as it functions better than swype when using two thumbs. So anytime I feel the need to compose a message using a different orientation, I have to change keyboards.
Coming from the winmo world, I had found an app that would do something automatically choose the input method based on the state of the hardware keyboard... Is there anything for android that might provide the ability to automatically set the input method based on the orientation of the device?
Just something I think would be handy, and that I haven't found during a brief search here and across google land.
Thanks,
Splice
I sincerely doubt anything like this exists. You may consider putting up a request in the Android Development section of this (Nexus One) board.
Upon thinking about this a bit more now that I'm awake, I'm not even sure such a feat is possible... since you have to manually choose the input method anytime you install a new keyboard. There's no way (that I've seen so far) to just tick a "use as default" box within a keyboard's preferences and have that work; seems the user must always manually select to use the keyboard. That kind of makes me think that the keyboard apps (or apps in general) don't have the permissions necessary to access this setting.... though I would also think that a root-level app would be able to do so.
Thoughts?

[Q] Dialer 2.2 Contact Spacebar

The stock dialer is clean so I like using it. But there is the limitation of first name searches only. The big problem as a result is, if a contact is saved as J Doe, upon entering 5/JKL on the Keypad, it gives you all the JKL's and the contact is impossible to locate.
If there were a way to then add a space one could go on to seach for DOE, but JDOE will give no results.
Any ideas?
You are right, lack of a spacebar is a major limitation and they did not resolve that even in the latest firmware. You will have to use the Contacts app, no other way
How very annoying. I was hoping someone would have a workaround by now.
