Anyone using 8125 with BMW? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

As the topic says...
Im havin a hard time getting the 8125 and the BMW car hands free kit to work perfectly.
It was suggested in a Bluetooth BMW forum this...
"Make sure your 8125 has the AKU2 ROM installed (Settings->System->About: OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0) or later. I did not
personally test with a 8125. My device is an OEM HTC Wizard. The 8125 internal hardware should be the same. If your device has an
older build, ask Cingular to upgrade your ROM. Since the 8125 is relatively new, I would guess that yours has the AKU2 ROM."
I upgraded to the 2.17 rom from here and Im having the same issues as before with my stock cingular rom.
The OS on the 2.17 cingular 8125 that I have says OS 5.1.70 (Build 14410.1.1.3)
Anyone ?
Thanks

the biggest problem is with the bmw ulf. if the car is under warranty, then you can get your dealer to change out the ulf. I had one of the first ulf in my m3 and that just had problems with the 8125. I had them swap it out and it was ok. The only reason they did it is that the ulf in my wife's x5 worked great with the 8125. So it is basically the firmware rev in the bluetooth ulf in the bmw.

What year is your BMW? and what is the model number of the ULF?
Thanks

don't know the model of the ulf, the m3 was a 1/2002 but hte wife's x5 was a 35/2003
i will check to see if I have the models of the ulf still. I can tell you that the one in the m3 was the second rev of the ulf. But the replacement was just put in 6 months ago. and had a rev date of 2005.

I was flashing 2.21 rom to my 8125. After that, I got OS5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0). maybe you can try the 2.21 rom to see if that help!

Im not sure the 2.21 is for cingular...

I am using Cingular with 2.21 Rom

hmmmm 2.21rom???
Im on the 2.17 I guess Ill have to look around?
my OS with the 2.17 is 5.1.195 Build 14847.2.0.0

Bump...help????

I have an '06 550 and mine works just fine.

hi the latest part number for the ULF (UK) is:
84 21 6 945 387
This unit fits:
3 Series E46
5 Series E39
X3
X5
Z4
They are £300 inc VAT plus fitting......

there is a guy in the US that sells it. Highly recommended! And he sells the newest ULF.

Does this guy have a site? I am interesting in getting the latest ULF.

What exactly is your problem? I have an '03 530I with one of the original ULF modules and my 8125 works great. I haven't checked contact downloads, however, because I never use it anyway (the interface is a joke)

Using the different ROMs either the stock or the updated 2.17 the BMW ULF wont download the contact list from the phone. It works 1 time then after that I cant scroll through my contact list using the steering wheel and make a call. I can only initiate calls from my phone not the steering wheel.

hmmm... that may be. You're a better driver than I am if you actually use your contacts on the car hardsfree. One of the problems that make it unusable for me is that the type of phone for a contact isn't listed, so I'll see a contact listed 2 or 3 times and have to guess at whether its the mobile business or home number. This after manually scrolling through possibly hundreds of contacts to get to the name I'm looking for. Because of this, I've pretty much gone to voice tags on my BMW, or I use the contact list on my 8125 to initiate the call. Maybe the newer MIDs fix this but I've got the MKIV navigation MID with v27 software installed and contact lookup is still a POS IMO....
FWIW, there are very few phones that actually update contacts correctly on BMW.

I have the supposed newest ULF the 387 number. It has a (H) (M) or (W) before the contact name to tell me what the number belongs to. Like (H) Joe Smith then after 2 seconds the number appears as xxxxxxxxxx.

M2000- PLEASE HELP!!!

I have just received an M2000 and I have the following problems:
Bluetooth doesnt work at all (I tried using the "Final BT Patch from i-mate" and it didnt do anything).
Cant seem to find a version of the extended rom for this phone.
Its still unlocked.
It only has radio version 1.04.00
Can anyone help. This is so frustrating!
I also have the same phone and nearly exactly the same problems- especially the bluetooth. Are there any solutions yet?
If you haven't had it for more than 14 working days, (or 7 days if its an upgrade), ring Orange up and send it back for a replacement, you will get another brand new phone with another 14 working days (or 7 day) trial with it.
I've had 3, first one had a loose keyboard, 2nd one the phone part wouldn't work at all, the one i have now is truly magnificent don't give up on such a fine piece of telecommunications equipment.

Prelimanary test are good. I'm guessing the patch is exactly the same as the one posted for the Pda2k from Imate, it is build 3500. SO far no issue with my sony hbh-660 headset and no issues yet with my TomTom Navigator USA bluetooth either. So for now, I am very pleased with the results, but I am going to give it one full day, especially with the headset before I can completely be satisifed. Adios.

Extraction
Anyway to extract the files from this setup?
Good question. I know it's a setup.exe pretty much that kicks off the install process via active synch, then seems to place the temp files in Flash memory, thus requiring the soft reset. Not sure there is a way to capture the files being written to temp space, but I am sure there is someone on this forum that can do it
If you run the installation without connecting your XDA, you will find the cab file in:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Bluetooth headset upgrade patch for Xda IIs
Interesting that with the first imate posted bt patch the 3500 version which was withdrawn, one file showed build 3000 all others 3500. this O2 patch makes all file versions 3500 so is a final release and later than the imate patch.
Imate say they have a new final patch coming soon which will prob be the same as o2, since these all come from htc.
Patch seems good so far.
3500 Patch seems to be good
Downloaded the 3500 patch yesterday and installed in my i-mate PDA2k, certainly seems to have fixed the main BT headset problems (Sony Ericsson HBH-20). Thanks to those who take the time to post these things. A good Christmas present.
not so good. again scrasheesssss into the headset.
Waiting for another patch
hey this is the same old patch that was released by QTEK 3 weeks ago so whats new in it. I have checked both the patches they are both the same, not even a single file differs. But as always O2 is the last to deliver patches. It is very slow in providing updates, all other operators have provided new rom updates butO2 is still waitng dont now for what.
THE LAST TO DELIVER PATCHES????
Imate didn't release this patch for almost 4 days after O2 and before they had a 3000 build release. Tell the Tmobile MDA people, Siemens SX66 and all the CDMA versions of the phone with crippled bluetooth who have had no "official" update.
Great that Qtech first and early but O2 were second when all the rest are still waiting.
ONLY qtech has released a full upgrade rom. No others have.
Of course the patch will be the same, its not the operator like Qtech or Imate that makes these things, its HTC.
Patch Not Working in SX66
I dl'ed the patch into my SX66, and was hoping - no PRAYING - that it would help the BT issues..
My Jabra 250 sounds just the same..damnit!! (grin!)
Any other ideas, folks?
BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, needless to sat after further testing of the O2 xdaiis patch, I am still having issues with my Sony headset. I am connected for 4 hours and then all of the sudden the pairing just drops and I have to reconnect the headset which is very frustrating, so it sems this latest patch has some issues. NOt sure what to do now. I have already sent O2 support several e-mails with just a standard canned response, which is total BS
The Imate patch is way way better
Well I have tried the XDA IIs patch and I must say it sucks a.. The Imate patch which is a lower bluetooth stack build is way better. With the O2 patch the XDA IIs still randomly turns on. Garbage!!! Come on O2 release a new rom with media player 10 and a bluetooth fix.
Michael
No problems here...Motorola 850 works PERFECT. The official BT patch works great...must be either your headset or 3rd party software
Where...
can I get the imate patch...and is it the whole rom or just hte BT stack> Many thanks;' perhaps THAT will work in my SX66 and my son's O2
Guest, I have two XDA II's with a Motorola 820 bluetooth headset, and with all native apps installed and on the O2 bluetooth patch release it turns on randomly. It does not with the I mate patch so, the O2 release is garbage. Thats why Imate pulled they same bluetooth stack build that O2 released. There is issues with it.

T-Mobile UK Blackberry and Radio Upgrades

Has anyone with the current T-Mobile Shipped Rom, using the BB client updated to a higher radio/bluetooth version. If so, has it had an effect upon the BB client? If I recall correctly the BB client was shipped with 1.06 in Germany?
I would like to upgrade to 1.12 &3900 but afraid to do so.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
I called T-mobile and they sent me a disk with a ROM update that included Blackberry (Instant e-mail).
I installed the update, which ends with a hard re-set.
then I restored the MDA from a full Active sync backup. this of course overwrote the Blackberry app!
Then I unlocked the extended ROM using tools from this site. Then I ran the auto installer in extended rom and the Blackberry stuff was re-installed.
Then rang t-mobile and added Instant e-mail for £10 a month. Works well.
Got the T-Mobile BB upgrade, and got my account activated 4 weeks ago (radio is version 1.0, BT is 3500).
Got the BB service up and running, but when I tried to upgrade the radio stack to 1.10, everything worked fine on the phone side, but BB stopped working.
Contacted T-Mobile CS who tried to help me get it work, said everything was fine their end and even tried many options to make it work - In this particular instance I can honestly say that I have never had better customer service. At the start of the call, they offered to call me back right away (which they actually did) and the call lasted over an hour. Eventually we concluded that it must be a problem with the radio stack.
I re-installed from the T-Mobile 'upgrade' back down to radio 1.0 and everything worked fine 'straight out of the box'.
All the BB settings and data are stored in the storage area on the MDAIII, so hard resets do not mean loss of data and you don't have to reconfigure the BB client at all.
I haven't had the time to try any other radio stacks yet, but would be interested to hear anyone else's experiences.
Has anyone managed to extract the BB client from the T-Mobile UK ROM yet? If so, would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction?
Also, has anyone managed to get it working with another operator (specifically Vodafone)
Thanks!!
T - Mobile Blackbery and Radio 1.06
Xda-Rocks
Did you manage to try BB with the 1.06 Rom on the FTP site. I am making an assumption that it should work as Germany released BB client with 1.06, but we all know what assuming does....
I am hoping that someone more expert than me will act as guinea pig :?:
Thanks J
The version I am using is
MDA3_TMUK_v106160_SHIP0307.exe
It works fine for me. I am using the t-mobile instant email account and it is also polling my standard pop3 account. I don't have a BES.
T-Mobile BB with Radio ROM 1.06 and upwards
OOPs apologies I wasn't very clear in my last post. What I was referring to is whether you have upgraded the Radio ROM from version 1.0 which is the one contained within the 1.06 BB Rom.
I am running BB fine on my device as well with the updated ROM. The problem, as ever, is the bluetooth range and quality. I believe that 1.06 is supposed to be a significant improvement over 1.0, even if 1.08/1.10 or 1.12 cannot be used.
Sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for the tip. I'll upgrade to 106 asap and give it a try.
Jiggy - Sorry I took so long to reply, but I've been busy. Finally got round to installing 1.06 Rom on the FTP site and BB works. Thanks for the suggestion.
BB with Radio 1.06 and BT3900??
XDA Rocks - thanks for the response now I will give it a try
Have you upgraded the stack to 3900 in addition to the 1.06 upgrade?
I just wondered whether this will affect the BB.
Thanks J
T-mobile Blackberry
Gentlemen - many thanks for all the feedback and especially MDAIIIUSER for all the guidance.
Got slightly carried away and went the whole hog!
MDA III on UK T-mobile
Flashed with 1.40 ROM, 1.12 Radio and BA_ERK_13 (from 1.22 kitchen)
+BT 3900
Everything worked well and the bluetooth may have been marginally better.
However could not get the blackberry client to work. Using instant email - the system would log on and then drop out without registering. (Similar probs in other threads). Again Tmobile customer service were exemplary and we tried everything - finally resetting back down to 1.06 ROM, 1.00 Radio and 1.06 Ext ROM. Now it all works again!
Therefore I'm assuming it's the radio that's the problem and that 1.12 does not work with BB. When feelinfg brave again will upgrade the radio to 1.06 and the Ext ROM to BA_ERK_13. Is the consensus opinion that this is sensible and should I be able to get away with the main ROM upgrade to 1.40? Anyone else tried any other combinations that allow BB to work?

Not sure if I read what you wrote correct or if you obmited some info.
Anyway If you used the ERK_122_013, in its full then you also upgraded patches like BT that are part of the 1.40.
You need to only use the customizing files and the ERK_140_Base files
As for the BB, you need to read the thread on that, think it went along the lines that only the 1.06 radio worked.

Radio 1.06

Sorry to be a pain but could you PM me with the link or send me the 1.06 radio upgrade file. I couldn't find it on wiki (lowest I could find was 1.08).
Do you think it is worthwhile upgrading in terms of the quality and range of the bt (I note your comment that it is still crackling  ). Hopefully you have noticed some improvement?
Thanks again
Jase
Jiggy,
I found the radio rom on the ftp site in
/BlueAngel/Radio_Roms
I have upgraded to 1.06 and BT3900 and personally haven't noticed any improvement using Jabra 200 and Bluespoon AX headsets
T-mobile Blackberry
MDAIIIUSER
Many thanks again.
Just confirming but if I understand correctly - the best that we can hope for on our UK MDA IIIs at present is: (with Blackberry working)
ROM 1.06
Radio 1.06
Ext ROM 1.40 cooked (customised as required)
Is this correct?

O2 V1.11.171 Now Available

Just checked the o2 site and it seems this upgrade is now available, not tried it yet but will tonight

We are waiting for more info about the new rom!
Might be an anomoly but I tried the 171 ROM modified and my device has hard reset twice, with the original ROM the phone stopped working and needed a hard reset to sort it out, twice.
Think I'll keep to my 162 ROM. How's everyone else found it?

here's the direct link for 1.11.171 - just downloading and will let you know how I get on after discovering that 1.11.170 (blackberry)didn't work with radio version as supplied.
Hi!
When I have install it. It apeared the radio 1.100
So still old radio, not v1.104

that is correct. Radio 1.104 is not compatible with the Blackberry system. This is the main reason that ROM 1.11.170 was removed from the o2 website as it had upgraded the Radio version from 1.100 to 1.104.

I'm using Blackberry and have upgraded to the latest o2 ROM - 1.11.171. If you aren't using Blackberry, try using Pugs cooked version of 1.11.169.
Is there any change to Blackberry functionality on 71 over 69?
Won't be changing if there isn't.
I belive that if your using the o2email open and not the BES version you won;t lose your Calendar options.
We use BES so no need to change then - thanks
Well ROM version 1.11.171 seems to be as stable as 1.11.169 and I don't have to use the workaround to sync Outlook Calendar.
I wonder if o2 are going to release more XDA phones that can use Blackberry - I quiet fancy the o2 Atom but it doesn't list BB which is a shame.
171 ROM is the BT reliability resolved
Symbasean,
Stating that the 171 ROM is as stable as the 169 ROM is a little bit of a two edged sword for me.
When I applied the O2 ROM last October / November it trashed my bluetooth functionality, effectively making my Jabra 250V a large black ear ring and the XDA 11i an electronic chocolate tea pot, for use in a car.
Can you sense my frustration with O2, who offered me £10 off my next bill as compensation and then didn't give it to me.
I switched to one of PUG's home cooked ROMs and this has been 80% successful, but randomly fails to deliver the sound.
His version has been a saviour, but would the 171 be an improvement for the BT stability and reliability?
Sorry for the incredibly rambling first post. :?:
I upgraded to the new software last night and have noticed one small annoyance. I used to be able to to deactivate GPRS by clicking the connectivity icon in the title bar and tapping disconnect. Now the disconnect option isn't there for GPRS. Eventually I discovered that I could turn off GPRS by holding the end call button.

two points:-
1. please spell my name correctly.
2. "Well ROM version 1.11.171 seems" - note also the word, "Seems". I make no direct comparison on stablity, only that mine has not crashed - caveat empore......
Apologies
Symbaseian
Sorry for the mistake.
I shall try the ROM and see.
I have to agree caveat emptor is an appropriate warning with this particular device.
If it worked as well as it is should, straoight out of the box, it would be excellent.
But it does have some way to go, and without the likes of these forums, it would not happen.

I totally agree. When I first got one of these I couldn't use TT3 let alone TT5 without it locking up all the time if I used anything other than my old 128mb Compaq SD card, but having listened and learned on this forum and also on pocketgpsworld I now have a stable XDAIIi with blackberry.
It's taken a long time to get to where I'm fully happy with the device (except camera performance - but I very rarely use that anyway) often involving Tomtom tech support, o2 tech support and these forums. If you feel happy using Pugs ROM version without blackberry please go ahead, but for me that's not an option.
It's just a shame that we have had to co-develope to get a product that is finally starting to show everything that it first promised.....

Weird incoming call problem Echo

Guys i have migrated from the wizard to the hermes and now to the kaiser in the last 8 mths.. wizard with wm6.1 was working fine and smooth but the urge to upgrade brought me to the hermes.
but after 2 mths of the hermes ran into issues;every once in a while i would not be able to hear an incoming call instead i would hear my own voice (echo back). I blamed it on the device (which had been replaced 3 times under warranty) and moved on to the kaiser and here it is back to bug me...
is this a known problem or issue... i am currently running the latest HTC 6.1 WWE rom with 3.56hard spl
Weird thing is i got my wife a pantech duo and in the last few days she is also complained of the same issue that is on wm6.0
Any clues or suggestions.
I think it's a GSM issue.
the echo in all devices.. network problem.. your mobile provider is either undergoing a maintanance or need too..
PDA devices are very sensitive this why you have been picking it up before...
i had the same experience...
