Could you explain further the nature of the ROM? (as in clean WM5 or what?)
can you share more info please
ivan's rom is based on mamaich v3, tuatara's rom is based on version ported from wizard and has parts from himalaya. so which rom is the base of this one ?
About 50% extract from tuma 1.4, 40% from Ivan V4R1 and 10% from Himalaya 2.01a. Platform is based on version ported from wizard so this rom can add Device lock.
Thanks
This rom is verygood,veryfast
Thanx (logout)
hi, is there a mms client inside?
I have just installed it. Gr8! Faster than all previous ROMs that I have used. Will monitor the battery life time. Wifi is great, although I don't use bluetooth (so obviously no test). Big Thanks, LOGOUT
How to get extended rom?
I've tried it and is really faster, but I haven't been able to access the extended rom in any way. I've tried it from 2003 and using the WM5 tools, but no way. Which is the right way to get it with this ROM?
Thanks in advance,
does BT work?

Hi logout ...
First off I have to say ... a nice job on the ROM ... and a very good initial go for ROM editing. There are a number of details in this ROM which you should address though, which would help a lot, and make for a good ROM release.
***
Definitely a 'good' ROM editing job and worthy of testing and debugging. From what I've looked at logout has done a reasonably comprehensive job on this ROM.
For everyone's benefit I'd better qualify what this ROM really is - the ratio of this ROM quoted is not quite right or 'fair' or 'accurate' ... to use those kind of words. There has been a LOT of work done - but the majority of it has been not on the core OS, but only on the added applications. So ... for this, it needs better explanation, so that you know what it's really running 'under the hood':
Core OS: (the bits which make it all go) It's 99% TuMa v1.4 ... the 1% removed from the core is the audio gateway / wave device, which is related to the BT Stack. Otherwise every other core element in the ROM is identical to TuMa v1.4.
Functional OS: (i.e. the programs which are in main use) It's about 80% TuMa v1.4, with about 10% replaced / restored XIP DLL's (unused ones) and about 10% (as CABs) from Ivan's.
Features: (the cool toys) 15% TuMa v1.4, 15% Himalaya, and 70% of Apps/Features Removed from the ROM. Cool!
BT Stack: 100% Widcomm Addition from Acer n300 ROM. MS Stack disabled.
Main Registry: 60% Himalaya, 15% TuMa, 15% Ivan
Boot Registry: 100% Tuma v1.4 (which will OVERRIDE anything which was done in the Main Registry by the way!!!!!)
***
Having the Boot Registry inconsistent with the Main Registry is what (indirectly) is saving this ROM. All of the performance boost elements I'd added into TuMa v1.4 (file system, XIP sections, modules, DDI spec, etc.) are controlled through the boot registry, and this has (luckily) not been changed. Because of this, the ROM is effectively using TuMa v1.4 as it's core for booting, setup, OS, filesystem, and display accelleration, as well as providing for the core OS functionality and speed.
This ROM is (almost) TuMa v1.4 without the baggage. There are a few performance things missing, but they are minor.
Basically ... not to put too fine a point on this - this ROM is TuMa v1.4 at it's core, without all the features which had been added. So, if this is FASTER than TuMa v1.4, it is due to the removal of the 'extra baggage'. If this is the case, then we can start to identify where things are slowing down, and what things slow down the OS for users. This is a VERY good test to have done!
Using this ROM you can see how fast TuMa v1.4 really is underneath! Compare with other ROMs now ... just so you know. 8)
***
There are a number of comments I'd immediately make which would further improve this ROM, and correct a number of mistakes:
1). The display interface elements have been incorrectly specified. This thankfully is not leading to problems, due to the structure and default specifications which have remained in the boot and main registry, which still enable the correct default driver to be loaded. (*)
2). The DDraw, D3D, and D3DM portions rather than being left in the ROM and being left as XIP and only configurable as enabled, have now been used from Ivan's CAB - which is a large degradation in performance. To be honest, I don't know why they were removed?
3). The USSD Services have been removed for some reason. Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is a technology unique to GSM. It is a capability built into the GSM standard for support of transmitting information over the signaling channels of the GSM network. USSD provides session-based communication, enabling a variety of applications. This means that the STK service and other direct phone communications services have NO HOPE of ever working on this ROM.
4). The Wireless Monitoring Service has been removed, and replaced with only a WLAN Manager. Not entirely sure why this has been done, but I guess it's a choice.
5). The Camera has been applied and integrated into this ROM. This does however mean that this ROM is NOT recommended for any SX66 users. You will experience the standard 'camera' problems initially, although you would be able to disable the Camera ... eventually as before using the old disabling CAB.
6). The MSN control panel was replaced with the same version, and VGA size bitmaps were used instead. I'm not sure why this has been done. Also, all MSN accounts have to be hotmail.com addresses in this ROM.
7). There is also no RAMDISK in this ROM, so there are no performance benefits from moving the PIE cache or Volatile elements into RAM.
8 ). Additionally the ROM has included the quantum timing improvements from TuMa v1.4, and the configuration fixes, but has not restored the 32Mb lost to the RAMDisk. So only 96Mb of RAM is available instead of 128Mb! Very odd. Was this an oversight?
9). The Widcomm stack has Licencing problems, since it has been integrated not as XIP modules, but as restored DLL's. I get the dreaded "Sorry! Bluetooth can no longer be used because the license is expired." message. *sigh*
10). The Power Applet has been replaced with one which gives a nice checkbox interface ... but the checkboxes are non-functional. Wrong control version (Himalaya has no WiFi, and BA has different Wireless requirements).
11). The 'odd' older incorrect registry settings for the TrueFFS driver have been used. There is no TrueFFS.dll driver available in the ROM, so an entire chunk of configuration is unfortunately still 'irrelevant' in it's own way. It doesn't affect operation though - thanks to the boot registry from TuMa v1.4 being unchanged. This is an ongoing mis-configuration issue in all ROMs since the original.
12). Your "welcomehead.96.png" boot screen/splash is incorrect. It needs to have support for landscape booting. You should fix this!
13). You don't need to include the dogfood provxml, unless you want the MS dogfood certificates installed. They're not required.
14). By restoring the original WMA files for the Ringtones, you're forcing the use of Media Player again, which will result in VERY slow rings - i.e. 3 rings before you hear one yourself.
(*) Tuma v1.4 first implemented this DDI accelleration method, and explicitly did so to achieve greater display performance. This ROM 'by accident' is achieving the same result, whether the 'DDraw_Acceleration.CAB' is used or not. This is because the file "ddi.dll" does not exist in the ROM! So the OS's only recourse during initialization is to use the "ace_ddi.dll" which was (thankfully) still specified as the currently defaulted DDI driver. Otherwise there would be no display!!!
NOTE: Because this ROM is effectively TuMa v1.4 at it's OS Core, the following caveats we identified for the TuMa v1.4 BETA release in using this ROM still apply!
- UPX'd Applications may be causing failures
- Power Manager Bug
- Odd ActiveSync Behaviour & non-communications
- Repllog fills the event reporting
- Interaction of AKU2 elements with AKU0 (repllog.exe Errors / ActiveSync)
- GWES subsystem / IE extensions (may lead to failures)
- Backlight Level/Flickering
- Battery Polling/Timing & Reporting
And the TWO real BIG problems which can lead to PIM data loss ...
- Optimization features to improve speed (Data issues / PIM corruption)
- Filesystem Respecification (FAT instead of TFAT filesystem specification)
I'm still tracking these issues down - but PLEASE if you're testing this ROM, let us know of any of the failures you may experience in the above elements.
***
Also, the Widcomm BT stack has been nicely integrated!!!
This is version 1.7.1.1429 (from a WM5 ROM not 2003SE) which is the one I had extracted from the Acer ROM - although this one used appears to be from a different source. Looking at it briefly it looks like the Widcomm BT elements have been correctly integrated, so I would be _VERY_ interested in hearing how the BT works for others on this ROM!
Obviously the BT shutdown bug is not present by using Widcomm, but I haven't had the chance to test all the profiles (Handsfree, Headset, Wireless Stereo, A2DP, Avrcp integration, Serial/GPS, etc.)
Otherwise, logout has done an excellent job of removing SmartDialer, VoiceDial, ClearVue PDF, Intellipad / T9, Dialpad, POOM, and all of the HTC extensions, Phone Skins/Panels/Controls/etc. and strangely a few other elements which I would consider 'useful' functions and important helpers (SimToolkit, USSD, etc.) ... but everyone has their own preferences. This really is a 'stripped' ROM.
1). The WLAN_MAN.EXE, SoftKey, SMS Alert Fix, Running Programs, file rather than being included in the ROM have been added as CABs.
2). WModem has been taken from Ivan's extraction of TuMa v1.3, and installed as a CAB, which was already contained in v1.4 in an improved form. Not sure why it wasn't just kept?
3). Various media file type support was removed (as per Himalaya types it appears), which eliminates Midi, WML, 3GP, AMR, M4A, M4V, MP4, WMLC and any of the HTC Source Filter extensions available. This means that playback for those file types are not available in WMP10 for this ROM.
4). Ring Tone Plugin Player has been removed which will prevent certain ringtones from being possible to use. However, this is probably a GOOD idea, since using anything other than WAV files will cause your BA to take 3 or more "real" rings before it plays the ringtone for you to hear.
5). WWAN Classes have been removed - not sure why.
6). Contact, notes, PIM integration and support has been removed - again, not sure why.
7). The Himalaya method of using PIE to open images has been used, instead of using the Image Viewer. Personal choice? Not sure.
8 ). SetSecurity was added to the ROM Control Panel, instead of leaving all security elements 'disabled'. The default settings are still 'disabled' by default and properly open, but this panel could serve to confuse users.
9). Strangely, the Widcomm BT settings were not integrated in the same way into the Control Panel ... but not sure - no real comment.
10). Error Reporting (and other annoying things) were left enabled rather than disabled.
11). Strangely the bluetooth context menu has been added everywhere, but of course the actual context menu itself is unregisterable for those applications. I'm not sure what was tried to be achieved here.
12). The Window Classes and hard-coded handles are in the registry for the buttons - I think this was an oversight - but these values are overwritten (thankfully) anyways on startup.
13). The Bluetooth Profile changer is still available in the registry for the Today screen, but the actual DLL isn't present anymore.
The downside to removing these items is that ALL features which were present before will now take up STORAGE SPACE on your device, since you have to install them as additional CAB files!
***
In summary ... to put it quite bluntly ... this ROM is effectively TuMa v1.4 without the features added, and without the extensions. With a bit of fixing as I suggest here, this ROM would be a VERY good 'base' ROM for general usage - by those who want to manually ADD everything to their ROMs.
NOTE: All of the BETA caveats/problems for TuMa v1.4 still apply to this ROM though!!!
A very fine job by logout though ... I think this ROM will be very appreciated by BETA testers!
A couple of questions:
1). When will we see a "Rev B" with the fixes I suggest here? You should revert the incorrect registry elements in the main registry to prevent problems though. If you want some help/info on this - just PM me!
2). Would you then be interested in updating / enhancing this ROM with the new TuMa v1.5 base, using the Widcomm Stack and your application / feature removal work? The changes I'm doing now hopefully will address the other issues I'm still researching / fixing from TuMa v1.4.
For any BETA testers ... please keep us up to date on your findings in this thread!
Good but BT Bleh
Great job logout! This is by far the most stable version I've used to date. I have the SX66 variety of BA. Also, I was using TUMA 1.4 prior to this. This ROM is much faster and more stable. Initially, I recieved an error message about the bluetooth license being expired, but that seems to have gone away now. Also, bluetooth handsfree (Jabra 250) is not working 100%. I can't seem to answer calls with the handsfree unit. I have yet to try bluetooth active sync. On that note, active sync seems to work much faster than Tuma as well.
just my 2 cents, thanks again logout.
Update: on soft reset I got an error "A problem has occured with device.exe"
Good Job Both
After reading Tuatara's post, good job both of you...I didn't realize Tuma 1.4 was so heavily involved in this rom. I think what makes this ROM work for me is that a lot of the applications from Tuma 1.4 have been removed thus improving performance and stability for the most part - as per your intention for 1.5 I believe Tuatara. Great job both of you, your work is saving puppies and kittens somewhere in heaven.
Very fast rom, bit always annoyng  bt issue .
No any rom usable with bt headset.......
I think this is main problem ....
regards
It is a defenately nice rom, but Logout should read what Tuatara wrote, there are a lot of bugs
rom is fast.
BT problem still there (that is no sound with JABRA BT 250 on phonecall, pairs fine)

Well ... that's NOT entirely a 'fair' comment. There are a number of 'issues' which need to be addressed, and most of them can be fixed relatively easily - even just using cleverly crafted post-install CABs! (So get working on the fixes eh? ;-))
Predominantly though, the "dangerous" remaining issues have to do with the OS Core changes I made in TuMa v1.4 ... so they're my bugs in a way - and I'm trying to fix those ones. 8)
I can't get my ht820 to accept avrcp inputs nor can I get it to accept the ht820 is handsfree mode.

Ivan has uploaded his latest (3.3R4) modded version of Mamaich's Wizard2BA ROM here.

No mention in the text files of what's changed since 3.3R3, and I've not had time to try it myself yet.
One thing I can say is that the previous 3.3R3 build was a lot quicker than TuMa1.3, albeit with fewer built-in applications. Hopefully R4 builds on that speed advantage.
I'll post whatever I can discover about this build tonight after I've tried it out.
At very worst it's something to play with while we all wait for TuMa 1.4.

significantly faster than TuMA 1.3, very responsive. rings at the first ring, able to play MIDI files as ringtones, no lag time on the keyboard. very very good.
First time ive heard of this rom. Would appreciate if anyone who has tried it can post feedback.
Just installed it and configed it to my normal settings.
It's a raw install of WM5, no optional apps at all, and it's a lot quicker than TuMa. In particular the messaging and phone apps seem a lot more responsive.
One other note - a lot of filesystem cache options are not set or left at defaults in this build, so it might be possible to speed things up even more with a few regtweaks.
According to readme this ROM is based ont he original WM5 BA ROM with some fixes. I have not tried it yet.
Can anyone post any comparison benchmarking results (such as by SpB Benchmark) of this ROM against the TuMa 1.3 ROM?
Thanks... m8.....
ill try....
hey
If anyone here already tried this WM 5.0 for BA, pls post your feedbacks here...
this rom is quite fast on 400mhz is as fast as tuma 1.3 on 530
there is no skiping in windows media while playing mp3s
language packs fully working
no problems with disable/enable wifi
standard rings beetween first and second ring
cool rom
Some app can not install on this version
I have tryed absolutely every WM5 rom for blueangel, and this one is the fastest thah i have seen. I don't need to overclock my cpu to run it smooth. All the options are more responsive PIE works quite well. Wifi works like a charm, I have not tryed bluetooth yet. This rom is clean and fast, I want all the future roms to be like this one. I do not need extra software but buggy OS, i want clean WM5 rom and if I need something i will install it later. Thanks Ivan for continiue mamaich's work, you both have done great job!
yeah
This is more fast than TuMa v1.3. I havent tried the pocket IE yet. Btw can I install the RAM Disk like the used in TuMa v1.3? If so, where can i download the right version for BA?
wooh
Tried already the pocket IE, for me it is faster than ever before.. Same with the messaging applications. Its really fast...that's all i can say...
No devicelock....????whay?
DOC reprtitioning tool works on this version of WM 5.0 for BA
It'sreally the fastest wm5 i've had tried. Bt headset issue is still here
wifi is ok ad really fast to take net
Some problem to switch with my dual sim card (also in tuma1.3 and older) i've to reset to have the second sim run.
Phone is really good .....
Now I've had a few hours to work with this build I can honestly say it's the best WM5 there is for BA. Not least because I can actually answer the phone without the thing locking up, or taking so long to open the phone app that I miss the call.
In the past I've used the original Wizard2BA and TuMa 1.3, and this thing beats both for speed and stability. It does have less features than TuMa, but if you want extra applications (MMS, regedit, keyboard skins....) then just download them and add the ones you want - not such a big deal.
The lack of a screen lock shouldn't be a big problem. Instead I've just set the button lock to "all buttons except power button" in control panel, then turn the device off to lock buttons and screen.
Shame the BT issue is still present but we can't have everything.
It´s a fast and clean ROM.
No double entries in programs and settings.
No problems with wifi so far - but I only tested this for about 10 minutes.
Responding of the device is faster than TuMa 1.3
ActiveSync stil signals connected after removing the device from the cradle but semms to make no further problems.
"Media" Sync is working fine.
I am only missing the device lock today plugin. Is it possible to install this manualy?
Thanx!
Great job!
mms?
Where can i download compatible ArcSoft MMS for this version? I tried the one from TuMa v1.3 but it doesnt work (or may I just missed somethings?) I did manage to make a new mms account though...
I've a problem to use extended rom. It's impossibile to unhide it so i'm not able to use it.
Any suggestion??
regards
?/
Just follow on the procedure.. First install Extended ROM unlocker, unhide and unlock your BA and soft reset and then install the extended_rom visible and then soft reset again.. You will see now ur extended rom
Hi,
I've got a problem installing this rom. It installs ok, but on startup it starts installing files from extended rom:
1. BA_version_140.cab
2. Album_BlueangelAKU26_Generic_WWE_RC20.cab
I dont know if i should install these, or if they are remains from TUMA 1.3 (or romz before that).
The problem is the soft keys YES/NO dont even work, so i cant install and i have to wait for it to cancel automatically.
Anyone got a solution/answer?
Tuatara,
I am jones'in for an update... any idea when 1.5 or maybe 2.0 may be available...
I'm an upgrading junkie... what can i say.
Great work... currently running Tuma 1.4, love all the extras... am living with the bugs... and am using OZBt app for the bt turning off issue
Thanks

Hindsight says that TuMa v1.4 was pretty solid for the OS portion, with only bugs in the 'addons'. I think that Logout's latest ROM (will be looking at it shortly) has addressed the remaining shortcomings of TuMa v1.4 - might be worth a look.
But for TuMa v1.5 I've been trying to get more AKU 1.1, 2.0 and 2.2 elements in, but they're not playing nicely ... yet. *sigh*
I'd like to say to Tuatara:
Take your time. A buggy 1.5 is not an improvement... releasing for the sake of releasing is of no use. It's not as if you were being pressed by your company to 'release early, release often' and turn a profit, or risk losing your job...
And many, many thanks for your efforts. I have not even installed my first ROM, I went aboard when TuMA 1.4 was about to be released, but with all the problems I decided to wait until TuMA 1.5 is released to give it a shot. I have unlocked my blue angel though.
This little grasshopper is being patient and thankful... and I am on my tiptoes too!
take your time
I would also rather have a rom with no bugs than one which was done in a rush with a lot of outstanding issues. I must confess though I am using Ivan R 4.21. (hear you swearing already). Reason....as I am no expert in these matters (newbie) I find his rom clean, fast and stable. I simply prefer to install my own apps. However I look forward to trying your new rom!!!!
OzBT app on Tuma1.4
Concep- I agree with you that we all are eagerly awaiting the arrival of TuMa 1.5. What a great day that will be!
I apprecaite Tuatara for all his efforts- which him earned him a celebrity-status for us PDA2K owners!
Concep, I noticed you are using OZBT app for the bluetooth issue. Whcih version is this? I am trrying OzBT on TuMa 1.4. The Bt turn-off issue is definitely solved but now I cannot ever turn off my BT and this causes a major battery-drain. Are you experiencing that too? What setting do you have on your OzBt?
Thanks for your help...
Sagar77
I´m waiting for the 1.5 tooo. Thanks tuma for your job!
Bonjour a tous,
Tout d'abord un "big up" a tuatara pour ses releases et actuellement j'utilise la v1.4. Comme beaucoup, j'attends la version 1.5, mais je suis d'accord avec la prudence qui veut que l'on propose le meilleur...attendons.
Merci encore

Thanks for the patience ... it will be released ... as soon as I have the time, and as soon as it is 'good enough' to test. (Yes, I can read french, german, and a few other languages, but I predominantly write only in English :-D)
Quite interesting to see a number of people using v1.4 ...
From what I've seen, and from Logout's ROMs, it is stable and robust as the OS - just the 'features' I had added are somewhat bug riddled due to incompatibilities and not enough testing.
So, I might actually 'cut some losses' (mostly time-wise) for the moment and make a v1.5 which is v1.4 with all of the bug fixes applied. And then continue working on a v2.0 which will have AKU 1.1, 2.0, and 2.2 elements in it as best I can manage.
Thoughts? I'll probably have some time to work on it tonight again.

Oh, and why would I 'curse' someone using Ivan R 4.21? This ROM is also a mamaich based ROM, with additional bugfixes and patches applied to make it more robust. The only downside of this ROM is that there isn't any support for Avrcp, A2DP, BT USB, or the other AKU 1.1, or AKU 2.x features. This ROM is (pretty much) exclusively AKU 0.0, and running on an older OS base.
The TuMa ROMs are just making use of the available 'spare' space in the ROM 32Mb. Leaving it empty (as in Ivan's) doesn't benefit the device. Installing your own applications eats up your storage space. Personally, I want as much storage space as possible, so I put as much into the ROM as possible.
But to serve everyone - TuMa v1.5 (as I've always said) will have the means to 'enable' features which are already in the ROM, instead of having them ON by default. So, without anything else - the ROM will be 'base only'. Then by running a single CAB file (or a few) ... it will turn all those features on, and won't eat any storage space doing so.
It needs a lot of testing to get this right though ... so yeah ... I've got to take my time.
Damn it people. He's doing this for absolutely NO compensation, for the good of the community. If it takes him another few months to finish, you should still all be nothing but greatful.
Tuatara, take your time, get 1.5 the way you want it to be before releasing it. Don't compromise quality, and get all the features you want in and working. Making a bug fixed 1.4 would be a step backwards, and we can't have you wasting your time on that.
Guys, the more patient we are, the better the chance that 1.5 will come out a real winner.

Heh, heh ... you should 'eat your words' though ... :-D
If you're using a Logout ROM (as your .sig says), you're using TuMa v1.4 as the Boot/XIP/OS Core of your ROM, with Logout's Application/Registry fixes applied to it!!! It's already a bug-fixed v1.4!!!
All I'm proposing now (for interim) is to take TuMa v1.4, merge it with v1.3 stability, and release that as v1.5 in the meantime. I should be able to do that in a few days, and it'll go a long way to validating a few other issues:
1). Enabling CABs (Core ROM is 'plain' - enable features)
2). IMGFS/FATFS file structure (I'm going back to TFAT spec, instead of FAT as in v1.4 - for greater filesystem safety)
3). Avrcp, A2DP, and other AKU 1.1/2.x features which can be integrated
4). Integrated Wireless Manager (as in TuMa v1.4)
5). Intellipad support for multi-languages (all languages incl. Russian!)
6). All those other TuMa v1.4 'features', like Folders, Games, BootLogo, etc.
7). Anything else I've forgotten to mention ... ;-)
I'm very keen on this idea, as it'll give me a good basis to work from for the future. I've already had one positive response for this in the other thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=296077#296077
Thoughts?
Will the MMS client be built-in into teh ROM?
Hi Tuatara,
I read your suggestions in the other thread; I am all for it; it is absolutely an excellent idea to release 1.5 in few days with all the fixes [do not forget the video in the camera]; this will give you ample time to work on the next major release.
I vote for 1.5!
Battery indicator idea
Tuatara,
I very much like your cab-based approach, giving a regular user immediate access to a bunch of neat free add-on applications.
A battery meter is a typical application that people want. What I am doing lately is integrating the battery status in the upper bar in your wm2005 window.
It looks like more or less like this :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
While the picture illustrates the use of a battery and memory indicator, I only have a battery meter that occupies your screen width, so it gives a detailed status. When the battery is almost drained, the last part becomes red so you are immediately warned.
You can accomplish this using the downloadable trial edition of the skmenu plugin http://www.s-k-tools.com/downloads.html#skmenu and modifying the configuration file in \Program Files\SK Menu by the code at the end of this post. In fact, you can safely use the trial editition if you only want to get this battery meter. There is no expiration date in the software.
Now to my question : can we get something like this integrated as a cab into the tuma roms ? Or even better : does someone here knows a less expensive plugin that accomplishes exactly this effect ?
Thanks for all your thoughts,
Kristof

Tuatara:
I'm actually using Logout's rom because I don't really like having an overabundance of third party programs come with the rom. The new Logout Rom doesn't really do it for me, either. Right now, your 1.3 is probably my Rom of choice, but I like the the stripped down version because it's clean and bare (and faster, IMO).
Not to mention, your compression of the base ROM does worry me a little. I guess I'm just a follower of the "You can't make something smaller without stability/speed issues" mentality.
So yeah, I'm definately looking forward to your 1.5. While your cab idea to provide us with the ability to hide what you put extra on the rom is just surface, but it should serve well enough to comfort me .
Anyways, keep up the good work.
pelckyboy:
IMO, that kind of setup is FAR too dependant on the tastes of each individual user to include stuff like that. Not to mention, I definately think we should stick with Freeware apps. The beautiful battery meter at the top of 1.3 does a nice job for battery monitoring, and I know that in 1.4 he tried adding vBar (I think, can't remember), but I wasn't really all that big a fan of that, and that's nothing compared to what you're asking for .
But pretty much, we're at Tuatara's mercy as to what he decides to stuff into the 32 MBs of space.
Thanks Tuatara for your hard work on building the roms and sending me the icon file.
Take your time on the 1.5! I am sure it will be the best one when it comes. I just want to Curse MS on making the WM5 the way it is. I've switched out from the PPC fan to a regular Sony Ericsson phone guy because of the WM5.
There are no WM5 devices that packs everything i need and looks good as well. I've tried a couple and devices like O2 Atom are just CRAP.
Really miss how WM2003 performed where I had Tons of applications and so little bugs. Just that WM5 looks a bit better. I charge my device everyday anyway....
Anyway keep it up Tuatara!
IMHO Tuatara should make 2 versions of 1.5 rom, totally clean 1.5 and 1.5+ with all the extra progs in the rom. I am fan of a clean WM5 roms my latest choice is ivans rom (second is logout latest rom, which is based on TuMa 1.4) from which I made custom personal version with little changes.

Understood ... TuMa v1.5 will be effectively the 'stripped down' version, with only the registry & shortcuts missing. This is EXACTLY the same as if it wasn't ever there in the ROM, since if it's not enabled, it's not active. It's only taking up the 'extra' ROM space, and none of the valuable Storage space. I may try to integrate as many 'default' core features into the ROM as I can, but keep it as clean as possible as well.

IMGFS is compressed by design, so this is how it works - but I used UPX to compress some applications. This is safe, as long as the applications are 'safe'. It does save a number of 'K ... but for v1.5 I'll probably NOT use any UPX'd applications.
What you call 'on the surface' is really 'disabled' ... and I'll ensure that this is truly the case.
BTW: For the MMS question, I believe I will integrate all MMS elements into the ROM, as this has become a standard feature now. Because of this space requirement, I'll necessarily remove other 'lesser' features, and make them CAB files.

Yep ... but it will be 'disabled' this time ... and the space I use up with apps you may or may not use, is not going to cost you a byte of storage.

You're very welcome ... v1.5 will have that same folder structure already set-up, so that everyone can just move the icons around as required. Keeps the device a bit cleaner. Progress is happening on v1.5.

Like I said - the ROM will be 'base' and will be 'clean' as far as execution goes. The fact that there may be a few extra files around which you never use, will not affect you in the least. In fact, I could make a CAB which 'deleted' (it's only visibly deleted in the filesystem) those files from the ROM, if this is an important thing to have.
Still working on the v1.5 = (v1.4 + v1.3) version ...
INTRODUCTION TO THE ROM.
MOD EDIT: WINDOWS BETA BUILD EXPIRED 1st OF MARCH
[ DUTTYS HD V1.8 EXTREME ] You will notice on boot up that its much faster than before only setback this ROM doesn't support anymore UC Compatibility.
With the new Manila its so fast and un-believable quick with some added features and tabs.

Quick Tips & Known Issue and Solutions
• To manage better memory management, use TaskMgr in System tools to kill any un-wanted running processes and applications to free up more memory.
• To enable Face book and YouTube upload in ROM, I had to use the older HTC Album which will create a bug in manila when adding contact without a picture assigned to that contact.
Solution 1. Edit your contacts with pictures which to use in favourite contacts in Manila.
Solution 2. Install the updated HTC Album in Rom download folder which will disable Face book upload but fix the bug.
If installation of cab is un-successful please kill any running task of HTC Album.
• Please Hard Reset after Flashing Rom this will make your device performs better.
• Please read and follow the rules before posting.

My progress so far in fixing some stuff in V1.9
Dutty's HD V1.9 EXTREME TEST 2 UPCOMING Change Log for |WWE|
Fixed Time Bomb in Build 5.2.211018.1.6.0
Remove Adobe Flash support from Rom, will supply cab.
Updated some files and apps.
Updated ClearTemp Application.
Updated Obex Inbox VGA .
Rom should be slightly faster and Program memory is slightly less also .
Opera browser is also faster due to the removal of Adobe Flash plug-in.
Fix some stuff in Rom including registry changes.
Most Important fix .MP4 video lag or taking forever to start in both HTC album and Windows media Player, now takes couple seconds, but now has a slight bug when updating library, the video files are not stored in My videos In Windows Media anymore but in music, I tried everything at the moment to fix it but no prevail at this time. HTC Album works as normal, I don't use WMP so doesn't bother me much.
Revert to Blackstone sensor package ,decision mostly based on what I think would be best for the ROM, but new sensor with autorate of apps is added to the Enable Landscape.cab in System Tools which when install will enable Landscape Mode, this might cause some issues with applications like HTC album and picture taking.
Still trying to fix some stuff which I can but those above are the main ones for myself.
Added Large Title Bar.dll in Rom.
Since I use now the Blackstone sensor package users who wants to use other rotation applications including Flip it and so on ca do now with no issues , not tested by me though.
I have decide not to release any more Rom release on XDA at this time, any future development and ROM release will be private and release will be on my personal site.
For all those who have supported my work just want to say a final thanks and I will try and continue my work on this ROM and update if necessary on my site with fixes and any new stuff to improve ROM on HD for myself and my supporters.
The new manila might be causing issues for others who depend on installing 3rd party apps/hacks etc but I can only fix what I USE for myself which doesn't allow too much 3rd party app.
There is also some stuff others might experience but remember this wasn't meant for HD and I ported and fixed as much as possibly can.
Please do no post here any unwanted until I finish updating, posts might get deleted
I'm using this rom now (small beta).
AMAZING!!
A small preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqE5UrBXL9A
You can see the Manila landscape + Keyboard.
GUYS this rom was very hard work and also took alot out from me with time which I had to sacrifice to get this rom where it is now.
I dont think I WILL do a translation of this rom as I dont have time and also for this test rom it will need me to have time for any fixes needed but most have been fixed already.
Also I havent included any voice applications cvsd , msvc etc as this is a test rom so people can install users choice. Regarding MSVC I'm not sure if this build will have the incoming call bug which mught need change of regsitry.
I will try and release the rom in a day or 2 in the meantime i will keep examing the rom
Awesome work Dutty! I hardly can wait to finally have a working Manila home screen with correct appointments, etc. This should have worked from the start - I don't know why HTC failed so miserably with this...
Another thought for your new ROM:
I wanted to have my calls recorded automatically, so that I don't need to start each recording manually with ICR. So I tried VITO Audio Notes Touch, but found out that it didn't record the other party loud enough. The other side was barely audible and I didn't want to use tricks such as mic gain or speakerphone.
So I experimented a bit and found out that if I invoke the original ICR at least once, then VITO Audio Notes Touch will also record both parties equally loud! Great! This even sticks when soft resetting the device. Just hard resets or flashing a new ROM restores the unusable state again, so I had to use ICR once again.
So I tried to find out what the original ICR does to enable the recording of both sides. A registry comparison between before and after ICR showed, that ICR creates (or sets) a few registry entries.
And guess what: if I add these entries to the registry after flashing a new ROM, both party recording immediately works with VITO Audio Notes Touch! No need to use the original ICR at all. It must be installed however, I guess!
This works fine on Laurentius ROM 7.4, Radio 1.10.25.25. Here are the registry entries (probably just one of them does the magic, but ICR set all of them):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN]
"AUDIO_DEBUG_FLAG"=dword:00000040
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"RingingAddressId"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
Maybe you'd like to include these registry entries in your new ROM?
Regards,
Martin

HAHAHAHAH
Hi Dutty. Trying to contact you via PM Can you give me your email id so I can request something?
That's just plain mean giving the community a teaser like that - you should be banned on sight for that - don't you know we're all going to hate you now?!
Only j/k
A new ROM version hasn't got me excited for a while - but looks like you've really put a lot of effort into this one Dutty! You'll probably be converting me from kwbr's Touch of HD as soon as it's released...
Don't make us hate you any more whilst we (im)patiently wait!
Seriously though, looking forward to the release - nice work!
MOD EDIT
KukurikU....this is not for you....just that this is the next post.
people please show people the respect you would want from them.
behave now or more on.....you get one warning from me on this matter
thank you
lol, the hype on this rom is more than the hype for this phone when it came out

Concept
Same as Just Perfect for the Fuze the idea of this ROM is to create a light, stable, fast, well rounded ROM out of the box. Sticking with mostly software developed for our phone while updating packages accordingly to increase performance or add functionality. I plan on releasing .0X betas eventually reaching a 1.0 kitchen release of the ROM which will allow everyone to customize the ROM to their liking, so I ask that along the way please keep suggestions performance or usability related as opposed to 'add this or that program cause I like it'. Thanks in advance and hope everyone enjoys their experience.
Instructions
Hard-SPL obviously, Flash, Hard Reset before using. Please keep this thread as clean as possible. Please edit your first "downloading/trying now/cant wait' posts when you have used the rom and post your thoughts/experiences any issues you encountered or ideas you may have. When posting an issue please post specific instructions to recreate the bug and any other information that may be helpful in finding the solution. IE: installed software, what was running, any settings pertaining to the issue and any updates or changes you've made yourself.
Thanks
Too many individuals to name this time around, so the thanks goes out to the community itself, the resource, the spirit; all of without which, none of this would be possible.
*Everything used in this rom is freely available here at XDA and used under the assumption that as such they are open for anyone to use. If anyone has an issue with their work being used in this rom please contact me.*

Awesome rom... reminds me of jasjamming's wm black satin roms from the hermes days.
so far the only issue i see is that when i hols the power button down to power off the device nothing happens.
ive attached a black skinned package i used when i homecocked my roms. the cab it waas made from repairs the button functionality.

Awesome
Just flashed your rom...I have to say it is very fast. The flash was the fastest I have experienced and moving around the menus is very zippy. I have experienced a few issues, though:
After flashed, I was unable to turn the power off using the power button, so I had to remove the battery. After reboot, I still cant for the life of me find a way to turn off the phone without removing the battery-not even in the menus.
Some reason I cant adjust the settings for media net. It says, "The setting is pre-configured. It can not be modified.
Also, when trying to use the keyboard, it wouldn't work properly. I had to install a cab. Probably not an issues...I just assumed because it was for AT&T that it was for the Tilt 2.
Also, there wasn't a voice mail number for AT&T. When I held 1 to access voice mail, a screen popped up to input the voice mail number, which I entered. However it wouldn't work after that. I had to go to the phone settings-services menu and input it there under voice mail and text messages and it finally worked.
Those are the issues I have seen so far.
This is a great rom...thanks for the hard work

After a day of use every thing is going well. the only issue i have is that free ram starts at around ~102mb and steadily drops to ~35mb. gwes.exe in this build has a memory leak and has grown to 16mb by its self.

the power button is a known issue and is listed in the bugs list.
this rom is based off the stock at&t rom so medianet cannot be changed. but there isnt any need to change it anyway.
as for the keyboard everthing works fine on my tilt 2. did you hard reset after flashing? re download and flash from sd card. hard reset using the hardware buttons immediately after flash is finished. and report any current issues.

That did the trick! Not sure how that happened, but its all better now.... Voice mail works, keyboard works. Could it have been something I imported from PIM Backup?
Wait...when I go to my contact card and try and log into the face book it does the same thing with the keyboard not functioning properly-facebook login screen where you enter your email address and password. Now that I think back, thats where I originally experience the keyboard issue
Be more specific. is the hardware keyboard not working or is the sip not working? i dont use facebook so cant confirm.

Its the hardware keyboard not working when I try and log into facebook through the contact card. The sip or virtual keyboard works fine. You dont have to log into to facebook to recreate...do this:
people tab->hit all people-->select my contact card-->Scroll to bottom and you should see facebook link-tap it and you should be at the facebook login--->open the hardware keyboard and you should be able to see the issue
or
people tab->hit all people-->slide bar to the right to updates and event-->you should see facebook link-tap it and you should be at the facebook login--->open the hardware keyboard and you should be able to see the issue
both methods of getting to that section have the issue with the keyboard. Everywhere else the keyboard works fine
This Rom sounds promising
What are the requirements to get it to function well on tmobile if any?
What are the ram stats after a soft reset?
Has the mem leak been fixed since the replacement of gwes.exe?
So tempted to flash but I need a fully functioning phone for work. If not?

You'll need to change the data/mms/keyboard settings to work with your device, if you search around cabs should be available that you can use. Free RAM is ~100mb after soft reset. This ROM will give you a fully functional ROM however please be advised it is still in BETA stages and there may be some quirks.
@ cranbone, i followed your instructions and could not replicate the problem.
on another note memory management is much better than in beta 1. the only issue with beta 2 is the context menu in file explorer is broken some of the items display empty circles. fixed by reinstalling file exp ext.
Hello Everyone,
This is a ROM I have been working on over the past month or so and I have finally got it to the point where I feel it is reliable and polished enough to let others try. I built this ROM because I wanted one that was:
- Quick
- Reliable
- Small
- Free from TouchFlo and the Panel Manager
After some work this is what I have come up with. It is a reasonably clean install with some basic packages I could not live without. I haven't cooked in a lot of stuff that I can easily add with CABs, but did include a couple packages that are a pain for me to configure the way I like them from a CAB like Total Commander or that are very small like the HTC Audio Booster and Radio. The X Pannel Button is linked to Microsoft Task Manager so you have a quick access to a task manager at any time. Most of the parts of the ROM, for example the Dialer and CHome use the stock from the SYS it was cooked with. If you want to change things like these it should be as easy as installing your favorite CAB after flashing. The kitchen for the ROM is included so if you want to make changes you can re-cook my ROM with your own changes.
Flashing:
1) Ensure you have Hard-SPL on your X1 or you will destroy it.
2) Wipe your device with Task29.
3) Flash kovsimg using the SD or ActiveSync Method.
4) Hard Reset your device (press and hold the Right and Left softkeys and hit, but do not hold, the power button)
5) Finish the first boot and initial setup. Your X1 will reset itself when this is complete.
6) Once reset is complete you are done!
Reporting bugs:
- If you find any bugs please post them here.
- If you did not Task29 before flashing or Hard Reset after flashing please do that before posting a bug report.
- Indicate how I can reproduce the bug. If I cannot get the problem to occur then I cannot fix it.
- Don't report things that you want to be cooked in but are not as a bug. If I didn't add a particular application it is likely because I did not want it there or it is very easily installed from a CAB.
Changelog:
Code:
[Version 1.10 2011/02/03]
-Removed MM Task Manager and replaced it with the Microsoft Task Manager.
-Programs that wouldn't load or re-load should work correctly now.
-SMS from the home screen should now correctly load.
-Small performance and stability tweaks.
-The optical joystick is disabled by default at install. It can be re-enabled in the settings.
-Kitchen will now be included with releases to allow people to cook in changes they would like to see.
Known Bugs:
Code:
Open:
- Nothing currently.
Fixed:
- Random lockups and apps not re-loading. [v1.10]

can you put pictures of your rom?
thank you so much for the Rom, this is exactly what i've been looking for.
downloaded and flashed, will report back after some typical usage and testing.
A picture would help. And clean as in the build is stock-like or its just a name?
And 28244 is the new build?
So is it WinMO 6.5 or 6.5.x?

It's 6.5.3 build 28244. It's one of the cleanest WM6.5.3-ROMs I've found so far. The only thing that I miss is the HTC USBtoPC PopUp. There's no CAB for it, and it's really handy.

Screen shots would help..and also, this is the Titanium version, am I right?? Can there be another 1 without the Titanium...its pretty bad..THANX!
@ circleofomega
yes, it defaults to Titanium but you could easily change that after first boot.
I've been using this rom for a few hours (with Radio 1.16) and it is pretty light and fast. After cold boot, free RAM is around 145 mb. Battery life is also on the better side of the roms I've tested (with the best one being Christian's 5.723 Clean) and is around 1 percent of battery life, every 2 hours.
As for the screenshots, I dont think it's really needed, this rom is Clean as in Stock and minimally altered, so the look is the standard WM Titanium.

Thanx a lot man....wil flash it anytime soon,,,
Just to answer any questions/comments so far,
- I have never done screen shots on WM but when my time permits I will look into how it is done and try to get some up for people to see.
- Build is 28244, the recent release from DFT.
- WinMO version would be 6.5.3 (this is the large finger firendly version with the start menu on the bottom left).
Information
Hello, It's nice to see another developer who built the clean rom..
I found bug or something very distrubing me,
- There is lag time when i type sms n this always happen.
i have installed sms lag fix that i found in this forum n restart but nothing happen.a lag time is always happen when i type sms....
Please help me. thx
where to find working dialer skin (like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6424107&postcount=1098)....
Fantastic Rom
I just wanted to say this has to be one of, if not the, fastest and most stable roms i have used. I have searched for ages looking for a 100% clean rom, and this is as close to it as anyone will get. At first boot, uses less ram than official R3a. amazing stuff Twinge, keep it up. Since Willy's X1 got stolen and he wont be updating, i thought i was stuffed...
Downloading now - I'm really looking forward to it - I was really hoping for a lite/clean ROM without Panels but a Task Manager instead, with the 1% driver installed and some of those other nice things like Lauretti's Roms have - but hopefully without the iGO8 crashes that seem to always happen lately. Here's hoping
It's so much nicer to be able to work from a base like this rather than having to do all those customizations manually on each update/hardreset - thank you
Thanks a lot,
Peter
Strange thing happened today - I received several new messages (SMS) but "Text Messages" states I haven't. I can read all messages with SMS-Chat (alternative application) but the standard SMS-application always says "0 items"...
Budisupriadi - Start>Settings>Personal>Input>Word Completion and then set to Suggest after 4 letters, suggest 4 words, deselect "Add a space after word" and deselect "Enable Auto Correct". I have always done this on every rom I use to help reduce/eliminate lag during text input (not just SMS) and it seems to make a big difference. If it works for you, or anyone else reading this, let me know and I will make these the default options in the next version.
Sirkula - Those skins look to be for a HTC dialer of some sorts. I don't beleive the built in WM6 dialer (the one I use in this ROM) is even skinnable. You would want to look for a dialer that is skinable. Maybe one from the X2 or another HTC phone. CABs should be available in the X1 forums, I remember I used the X2 dialer for a bit and got the CAB here. It looked prettier but did't perform as well as I wanted to I reverted back to the reliable default WM one.
FezzFest - Are you saying that the number of new Text Mesagges on the Titanium home screen doesn't update? If that is correct can you see them with the default SMS client or do they not show when you use that? I am not sure where to even look since you are using a 3rd party SMS app I don't know how that affects the fuction of the ROM and I don't know how to re-produce the problem. Has this issue happened to you (or anyone else reading this) without this SMS-Chat installed?
Just read this thread and am definately tempted to try it out but can't until next week (too many commitments at the moment).
The reason i've replied... for screen shots do a search for MyMobiler which is free and will give you good screen grabs on the desktop (when connected to activsync on USB)
I've been using this rom for 2 days now and I must say its very light and fast and its kind of refreshing to use titanium, haven't used it for a long time and I managed to configure it the way I like it but I can't find working dialer cuz default one is ugly ....tried X2 dialer but it messes up top task bar...I know you are trying to keep it as clean as possible but you must do something about that dialer ...
