I personaly have never had to setup POP3 with these 8125's in the past as all my clients are on Exchange 2003. I now have need to setup an Earthlink account on a friend's 8125. The account wizard completes successfully and can receive but not send... unable to download messages to mobile device error. So I create a new account using the lil wizard for my wife's Bellsouth. Now my outgoing message gets moved to the drafts and I get an "invalid message receipents error" when sending to a good (my corporate email) address. I'm suspecting something in the Connections settings.
Any ideas?

Thanks! Now Mindspring gives me the "invalid recipent" error no matter what email address I send to.
Steven
how are you connecting to the internet? via wifi or gprs?
GPRS thru Cingular
do you have the proxy box checked or unchecked?
This ROM doesn't have a proxy tab anymore I don't believe.

Thanks so much! After playing around between using MediaNet and My ISP it now works. Your SMTP tip was crucial!
Thanks again!
Has anyone been able to configure the Outlook email to pick up email from a Shaw account? (Shaw is an internet provider here in Canada)
I went to the Shaw site and changed the POP3 and SMTP servers to the ones suggested, but I'm still getting a 'not able to download messages' message from Pocket Outlook..
Thanks for your help.
Got it!
OK, I got it to work, so I thought I'd post it here for others, just in case someone else had difficulty.
email address = [email protected]
Incoming Mail Server = pop.shaw.ca (type=POP3 is greyed out)
Username is xxxxx (the first portion of your email address before the @)
Be sure to tick the 'Save Password' box
Outgoing Mail Server = shawmail.cg.shawcable.net
Be sure to untick/clear the 'Outgoing Server requires authentication' box
....then, just set things up as you want them.
Have fun!

IMAP servers are all named mail.shawcable.com good luck
I have been struggling with this for almost 3 months now, and never seemed to be able to get it to work properly, sending both on 3G and Wi-fi using the same server information.
Turns out, it was impossible. Shaw just wasn't set-up for it.
However, THEY'VE FIXED IT!
Here is what you need to do.
----------------------------------------------------------
First, you need to goto your shaw webmail and access the new Shaw Webmail BETA they have started.
Login there, and goto the preferences in the top right.
Goto the Mobile Access tab, and enable mobile access (hit enable, type in your password, and select save at the bottom).
*Note, notice the the password requirements under this menu, as although you CAN ENABLE mobile access with a password that does not meet the requirements (perhaps an older one you have not updated, like me) you will NOT be able to login on you phone with it, so you'll have to go change the password in the online help page (which is kind of a hassel, to be honest)
Once it is enabled, these are your server settings.
Type of Account - Pop3
Incoming server: pop.shaw.ca
Username - <your account>@shaw.ca *note, you must add the "@shaw.ca"
Pass - <your password>
Security Type: None
Port: 110
Outgoing Server: mail.shaw.ca
Login is Required.
Username - <your account>@shaw.ca *note, you must add the "@shaw.ca"
Pass - <your pass>
Security Type: TLS
PORT: 587
*the security type and port are not standard... so watch for this.
This will now allow you to both check and send e-mail on both Wifi and 3G.
Just wanted to say thanks for this. Been struggling with this for a few hours. Would never have found the mobile setup preferences in the beta Shaw web mail.
Configuring iPhone4 to use webmail in wifi environment
I recently purchased an iPhone 4 and had it set up for wifi use to access my Shaw Webmail account. Telus is my provider.
My incoming email works fine with the configuration using pop.shaw.ca, my user name, and password.
However, my outgoing has never worked in the Wi-Fi environment. The threads earlier talk about using Shaw Webmail BETA to go to the Mobile Access tab, and enable mobile access.
Shaw has discontinued Shaw Webmail BETA, and have launched Webmail 2.0
so the Webmail site with 2.0 does not have a Mobile Access tab.
Consequently, my outgoing emails under a Wi-Fi environment still won't send.
My outgoing Mail Server was set up by the folks who sold me the iPhone, and it has the following:
SMTP smtp.telus.net
Other servers: shawmail.ok.shawcable.net
ok.shawcable.net
mail.shaw.ca
shaw.cg.shawcable.net
None of the "Other servers" have a username or password inserted. The above other servers were just added a week ago by the retail store, and a message does come up when I'm using wi-fi saying:
"A copy has been placed in your outbox. The recipient "%@" was rejected by the server because the user is unknown."
When i wait awhile and check, the message does send. Anyone know which of the outgoing is the correct one, and is there anything else a person needs to know about Webmail 2.0 to get the settings right??
I just went crazy trying to figure this out for two weeks. Both SHAW and WIND told me it was not possible. I could get the incoming working but not the outgoing.
Here is what worked.
1. SIgn up for shaw beta webmail - type in wmbeta.shaw.ca
2. Under mobile preferences, select ENABLED versus DISABLED.
3. Then the instructions on this PDF work. The forum won't let me paste links, but there is a PDF that comes up from SHAW when you google "shaw email android"
Good luck!
I can recieve Yahoo email, but I can't send mail from the yahoo account. The phone set up it's own settings. Here they are
Incoming Mail Server
imap.mail.yahoo.com

Way longer than it should be (I keep fixing it, but there are about 20 characters showing, when my password is only 11 characters)
Outgoing (SMTP) mail server:
smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
I dont have
"OUtgoing server requires authentication" checked. It was but I tried unchecking it to see if that would help and it didn't.
I do have
"Use the same username and password for sending email" checked
I have it set to send/recieve email every 5 minutes.

I have an ATT Tilt with the new 6.1 software. I haven't done any modifications only because I dont know how to.
Anyone? Now my gmail isn't letting me send mail!
Try this, Delete all your e-mail settings and start from scratch. See if it works
I have done that---lets hope that works.
Hi:
If you still have problems, try this. Do you have "Getting Started" in programs. If you select that, then choose to setup e-mail. All you have to do is enter your e-mail address, and password, and allow it to use automatic setting. I didn't even have to enter any settings, and it worked perfectly for me.
Hope this helps.

Also, did you check the Advanced Settings for your setup? Mine has "Require SSL for Incoming e-mail" and "Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail" unchecked. I am able to send/receive via Yahoo! without problems. Definitely follow everyones advice and start from scratch.
I had the annoying issue of not being able to send, only being able to receive mail.
This was with Gmail.
I tried all the 'solutions' on the Internet and even on Google's own support pages.
Strangely, I could use the POP3 service, but not IMAP.
The way I solved the issue was to delete all the settings on my Kaiser and then go into Gmail 'Forwarding and POP/IMAP' options and Disable IMAP access and click Save Changes.
Then I would go back into the options and reenable IMAP access.
Lo and behold, it worked.
Here is a supposed fix for SMTP issues, use at your own risk, I haven't had any problems so I haven't used the fix myself. http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2008/10/15/windows-mobile-smtp-fix
so i can receive emails but not be able to send them from my x1.
any idea?
it's yahoo.com acc
You will need to install the Windows Mobile 6.1 SMTP Send fix. Search for it in Microsoft Support downloads.
downloaded the cab and installed it; still no go, can't send emails but able to receive them.
can someone show me the way to configure the settings manually step by step?
Hi
I never needed to install any smtp fixed in order to have my X1 send yahoo mail... I am using yahoo.co.uk, my settings are:
incoming server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Outgoing server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
username: [email protected]
password: your password (!)
Outgoing mail server requires auth: Ticked
Use same username/password: Ticked
Require SSL for incoming email: Ticked
Require SSL for outgoing email: Ticked
Additionally, I use the 'Contract Internet' profile, and I had to remove the proxy value to get it to work (I am on Voda UK).
Note: The auto setup which the unit tries to do after you enter your email address and hit next will NOT pre-fill the correct details. Do it manually... if it refuses to let you do it manually, enter the email addr wrong i.e [email protected], complete all the settings then go and correct the email address.
Additionally, check that your yahoo account is correctly configured to allow pop3/smtp access via the usual web interface.

here is my email set up:
email addres: [email protected]
name: jennifer dar
account display name: yahoo!
incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
account type: IMAP4
username: jennifer_dar
password:*********
save passwork: CHECK MARK

outgoing server requires authentication: CHECK MARK

when i run the auto setup it tries to give me a pop3 account,
this does not work at all. I set it up for a imap account i can get email again but not send.

same problem here....

I got it to work by using smtp.mail.yahoo.com
I have been having trouble for months trying to figure it out & it was a simple change.
Hope it works for everyone else.
i also cant get yahoo mail to send. i keep getting the notification that it ant be sent check your incoming settings. i tried ports 143 and 25 like you said above but still nothing
Hi
I've been trying to setup an IMAP account on the built in email. But can't seem to connect to it, it says:
"Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that your login information is correct, then try again to send and receive email"
But I'm definitely sure all email account info is correct.
Wierd thing is, when I go back to the email Accounts setup, I notice the password there rather than ******* 7 characters long password it is like ********************** 20 characters long. I've tried changing back to the real password, but still don't work and if I check the Accounts setup again, the password, again shows really long like ***********************
I've tried accessing my IMAP email account through the internet on the phone via Opera, and that's working OK.
Any ideas?
Mmmm...
Can't really help you with your settings, but I can answer one question for you. The masked password is always a long string of ****'s. This is so no one can guess the actual number of characters in your password.
I've never set up an IMAP account, as I use POP3. I had an issue years ago when I was first trying to figure out how to set email up on these things, but I'd just got the incoming pop address wrong. I went on the internet and Googled the proper settings. Sorry I can't be of any more help
During the email set up there is a link for Advanced Server Settings. There there are settings for Require SSL for Incoming/Outgoing email. You might try toggling those. It depends on the IMAP server setup. Which IMAP server are you trying to connect to? I run my own IMAP server. The difference between IMAP and IMAPS (i.e. with SSL) is that you connect on a different port. If your IMAP server only accepts IMAPS then it's listening on one port but you're asking on another.
I've noticed that the email doesn't work when using activesync for network, but it's fine if using WiFi for example.
Actually, the problem is probably Activesync itself, as I have network problems with it... Activesync seems unable to remember proxy settings, its like it works after the initial setup , for a few minutes, then any proxies that were setup there are gone a few minutes later, just dissappears and consequently the network won't work anymore until I manually set it up again
