Not to be an arse about it, but it's obvious that you did no research on this question before posting. A search of the forums would have shown you the thread located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=244441&highlight=CDMA+Harrier+wm5
You might get more results if you at least look first. If you have looked, you didn't state it and your post sounded like you couldn't be arsed enough to look.
Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm trying to make a point that many people seem to have problems grasping.
I've searched the forums many times, and I would still post the question from time to time if others didn't just to be sure someone didn't just discover something.
I personally would like to know if there is a Harrier CDMA upgrade to WM5 or WM6 that forgoes the the radio, or if someone has tried to use the radio "drivers" out of a 6700 (Apache) to any degree of sucess. In my research, I've seen the idea floated, but I'm not sure how deeply the situation has been probed.
I do appreciate the work Helmi and others do, and I simply want to know if there is any update on this front.
Guys, does a harrier get completely bricked if it is upgraded to WM6 or does it just lose its radio/phone functionality? The reason I ask is I am a Kaiser user but I have my old Verizon Harrier that I'd like to make use of its gorgeous 3.5" display for movies while in the car (very safe, I know).
I'm on ATT now, so no more Verizon. I'd be using this device strictly for its PDA functionality.
I realize I can just use TCPMP on the wm2003 OS as is, but i figured there were some chefs that had done some pretty sweet roms for the device. Heck, I don't even need WM6, I'll just take the best Rom, regardless of which winmo version.
I know in the kaiser forums, duttythroy is pretty much the heavyweight chef. Is there a similar heavyweight rom or chef that everyone tends to lean towards on the harrier/BA? I spent about 15 mins doing some searches and reading Wikis but honestly couldn't find any info on harrier cooked roms.
It is now possible that Harrier could be hacked.
Unfortunately, the HTC CDMA hacking community has moved on. The HTC encryption on the ROM wasn't broken until after Harrier was long discontinued.
And, with new devices sporting gpsOne and EV-DO Rev A, there are now clear technical advantages to modern devices.
Ideally, HTC would have done the right thing and kept supporting older models. But, you already know that...
I don't care about the radio on the Harrier
As the previous poster mentions...Can I slap a Blue Angel ROM on my Harrier if I don't care about the radio? It would be a great 2nd device if I could get WM5 or WM6 on it. Again...I don't need (nor want) the CDMA radio on it to work.
Thanks.
no sir, tried myself, almost bricked phone DO NOT DO IT.
Hi all,
Sorry for the noob question. I just got my AT&T Tilt and I just want to make sure that I am in the right forum. Is this the forum for AT&T Tilt (AT&T 8925)? I've search around, it's either this forum or the Hermes forum. I appreciate anyone points me at the right direction.
Thanks a bunch!
forum
The 8925 is a Kaiser so you're in the correct forum.
The AT&T Tilt is just a re-brand of the HTC Kaiser phone. AT&T just names it the Tilt because it's hip and cool and something they can put a (TM) next to on packaging.
Thanks....
ceelo2007 & jon_k,
Thank you....awesome!
They should update the names that we call some of these devices so new people can see. Like instead of just 8525 it could be "At&t/Cingular 8525". You know?
heh...
I spent quite a bit of time figuring out if this was the right area at first too. They really need to add Tilt to the models next to Kaiser....

The naming conventions for the forums seem to be by HTC development codenames.
XDA-devs deals with many different models of HTC devices which have been re-branded by many different providers and depends on the source and region of your particular device and service.
So this site tends to use the pre-release codenames to refer to all devices of the same general hardware family. Hence the Tilt can be called a TytnII or a Kaiser or a Vario III, 8925...etc... with only minor diffs in hardware/software.
Why can't they have all the names known for the device so there would be less confusion? (Start with the new ones and go down from their)

To avoid posts from people who are incapable of identifying what device they have. As well as "their" from "there". lol
Ahh, you caught me. . ., also there already is .
*I* know there is a wiki but do others?
Maybe they know but there not sure if it's over they're -------> or over their <------.
My opinion is that these forums are pretty technical, and if you can't properly identify your model, you probably don't belong here. I know from my expertise in Motorola modding that I have been PM'ed countless times by 12 year old kids that decided they were going to mod, hex edit, or flash their phone, bricked it, and then PM'ed me for a magical fix before their parents found out.

Other than the name differential, I believe the Euro Kaiser has a camera on the front as well as the back for "video call". The tilt has the regular one in the back.

wow there is so much information that i have gather on this site; however, it has all gone completely over my head... i have the t-mobile wing and i was just wondering if some one could help me download the iPhone touch flow theme (?!?) ... there so many other applications which look awesome but i suppose i should just start simple (o: anyway im not really excepting anyone to answer this but if someone does reply its much appreciated!!

This subforum is for the HTC Wings, which is a different phone than the T-Mobile Wing (aka HTC Herald).
I have an older version of touch-it i got off the wings thread, after like 20 hours of reading, and have used it ever since. Now i am back to reading countless threads, and come to the realization i have a htc atlas*t-mobile wing, and wonder if i am in the right categories for software and things. I have been happy with the rom i have installed off this category except wonder if my phone has more potential because i might not of been reading the right category for my specific phone. I have never had video working on my phone is one thing i wonder if others have. I would love any help. I do have some questions if possible, i have not just jumped in and not try understanding myself.
if anyone is willing to point me in the right direction or have a conversation on the purple T-mobile Wing, *HTC Atlas or whatever that would be sweet!
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=756
is my specific phone. does that mean there is limitations to which .roms I am using? I am ready to upgrade the os on it... its HTC 4350 Atlas - Aka T-mobile Wing...
installed coreplayer to no avail as well... thanks for reading
I dont remember what the T-mobile wing is called, but its not the S730.
Since this is the wrong forum for the T-Mobile Wing we cant offer too much help there is a forum on XDA for your phone, but I am on my phone and digging that up right now would take a while
If you got the rom for your phone off of this forum it is possible aspects of it are running less than your phone could run them at but I would only see that being a driver issue instead of Rom issue.
I don't know if ya'll noticed.
But the hard SPL for the blackstone had been released.
BANG + 20 roms released aswell.
Why isn't this happening for the Xperia?
We only have 2 good ROM builders....
I'm downloading the Xperia Citchen of Itje,
and going to try to get my old Rom coocking skills back.
I would love the see many roms for the Xperia.
Cmon, who wouldn't ???
Could some of the Rom coockers make a tutorial for the public.
So more ppl get involved into Rom coocking!!!!
Thx.

HAHAHA duh. But now back on topic
A tutorial would be a help, i've downloaed kovsky package, but as its my first time playing with a windows mobile, I have a lot to learn
I agree with you, the xperia has really very few support from cookers here.
i noticed that weeks ago, there are only one or two rooms released for x1 thought the hard spl was released long time ago.
I hope we will see more cookers on x1 section soon.
perhaps sony pay them for not releasing roms =)
I'm sure we'll see more I'm sure when the X1a is widely available in the US. And then in three years when its availble in Canada
we dont exactly have a lot of base roms to work with
so if we were suddenly inundated with new cooked roms then theyd only be based on the same couple of core os revisions.
I am also an owner of a SE X1 and I am trying to learn to cook my own Rom.
I have read on the forum as also the Wiki of XDA for 3 weeks and I read so many treats about:
• flashing my X1.
• creating my own packages.
• cooking different kind of roms with several kind of packages.
• and now im trying to build my own ROM with my own splash screen and
with a lighter version of WM6.1.
I'm learning quite fast. But sad enough there itn´t a Master tutorial for doing al this. After all this i want to build my own Panel. I don't know if
that can be customised. but I give it a try.
I wanna thank you all for all the online Tutorials.
I´m also going to try youtube for some Videos about "Cooking you own Rom"
Greetz PeteyB
Please cook ROMS
I know that X1 is not favorite as DIAMOND,
but please for god sake cook some ROMS.
Thank You Very Much
CHEERS !!!

Courier advice to me says my X1 (supposedly "a") may be delivered today or tomorrow, so I was looking forward to playing. Too close to Xmas family-time for very much of that, however.
There is JL's basic 1.04 ROM. Full extraction of this nbh file allows you to add/subtract what you want. As I understand it, the XIP section is device-independent, so newer XIP's from any of the sub-forums are useful. OEM's are what SE has coded for this device and these are obviously limited. Additional CAB packages are there for the looking.
All up, an incentive to understand dsm, rgu, hv etc. This is not easy as there are only snippets of competing, conflicting and incomplete information available in the various sub-forum resources.
One thing I hope to post before Xmas is the accuracy of the 850Mhz UMTS availability in the X1a. If this proves accurate, extracting the radio ROM is my next step.
I think the reason why there are not many cooked rom because not a lot of cooker own the experia. And the X1a looks like an endanger species in NA so that's prob the reason why.
they key question is, will the x1a roms work on x1i cause of the one camera and fps recording diffrence.....
+1 for a tutorial on creating a simple, asumes only basic knowlage about the device rom cooking guide
there is alot of cool stuff in the wiki but it it does not have everything and it no organised properly. im still forced to read ridicouls amounts of irrelevent text in old threads
that would greatly help

Yep I've built two roms based on ported xips for this now, one off the newest blackstone, and one off the raphael, but wasn't happy with either, I think I prefer building off the stock SEUS rom.

Two separate questions here:
1) x1a radio ROM's on X1i ? Obviously, that cannot yet be answered. Read my post, please - I will try to answer the question when the device finally arrives, maybe today or tomorrow, by extracting the radio and posting it here. Hassling will not make this happen any quicker, OK ?
2) crippled fps recording ? I'm afraid I couldn't care less. For me, a total irrelevancy

Yes, of course, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen:
1) there are a variety of ways to deal with the rgu's, dsm's, initflashes, hv files etc. There seems to be no common agreement amongst the experienced cooks on how to do these necessary operations; certainly, there is no complete guide on this, just snippets of conflicting and incomplete advice ... and some of this is plain wrong
2) most cooks protect their ROM in any case, since donations are part of their income. There are some genuinely noble exceptions, such as M'Amine and cs_shekhar, but extracting their ROM's reveals very different methods of dealing with 1) above
Our best way forward is to examine those ROM's that we can extract fully and sort out a methodical path. At least, that's what I'm attempting.

Telstra here in Aus have just released the X1a and I picked mine up on Friday and loving it.
I'm happy to help dump the ROM/Radio if someone is willing to help me as I haven't done it before.
Let me know.

That's good !! Mine is now not due till tomorrow.
But before you go attempting a dump (and I'll help you through that), the most critical question we have is this:
1) since you bought it from Telstra, I'm assuming you have a Telstra SIM capable of 3G. (If not, end of story).
If this assumption is correct, the question becomes "which area or region are you in ?" This is most important for the next step, because if you are in a city-type area (Sydney, Melbourne etc), your 3G will automatically connect to the UMTS 2100Mhz band that Telstra uses in these areas.
Since the X1i also does this, it will tell us nothing new.
If you are in a regional area, your SIM will attempt to connect 3G on the UMTS 850Mhz band because the 2100Mhz band cannot penetrate the larger distances with its shorter wavelength. The Telstra 3G-enabled SIM card does this switch automatically. but if the hardware or firmware in the device cannot connect to the 850Mhz frequency, you will not be able to do 3G in a regional area.
So, which area are you in, please ? If regional, can you connect to 3G?
We should buy Dutty a X1... I had Diamond, Touch Pro and now X1. X1 has the best potential, but is lagging with the best cooks being in other devices.
