Hi there, I seem to have a strange and frustrating problem with my XDA IIi  . When I put the XDA IIi on the cradle and then attach the USB connection to the PC, a message saying found new USB device appears followed by there is a hardware error from New Hardware Wizard. Its around this time the PDA has turned itself off and then on, and then going through the setup phase and reverting back to factory default.
Nothing has changed on my XP system or my PDA. The PDA is 14-15 months old and I have not replaced the battery at all. I have read that the PDA does suffer from battery problems but could this be one?
Any ideas would be most welcome
This happened to me, turned out that there was some dirt or something in the socket on the bottom which was causing it to short each time I docked it and it hard-reset. I cleaned it out carefully with a precision screwdriver and some compressed air and it's worked perfectly since.
Thanks G, I'll have ago tonight if I can after the footie. Also this morning I charged the battery seperately in other slot on the cradle and then I put the battery back in the PDA. The green light on the top-right was constantly on even when i turned the power off and the battery power went from 100% to 54% in the space of two hours even though it was doing nothing!!
I'm afraid that cleaning the connection end did not work. It was a good idea, there was a lot of lint and stuff that I managed to clear out.
Whats happening now is when I simply put the XDA in the cradle the charge comes on but when i take the xda out of the cradle the charge light still remains on and also the XDA heats up quite a bit. I tried to connect to the PC and got a message saying that there is a something wrong with the USB device and the XDA reboots again.
I'm thinking of getting another battery, I've seen some cheap ones on ebay, much cheaper than from o2.
Does anyone think my XDA is destined for the bin?
Try to get another piece of battery to try it first. It may be a battery problem
Possibly a short along / near the pins on the bottom inside the uint.
Richard
Restart
Actually it's not the dock or anything. It's your ignorance.... You should follow the manual... Alpine sometimes will hard reset when it is docked and then connected via USB. U should firstly connect the dock to the USB socket, and after that only you could put Alpine to the dock.... TQ, hope this will help
My ignorance hey!! As I have mentioned, I've had this for 14-15 months now and this is what I do.
Put xda in cradle, turn it on and then dock it to PC. Its worked fine for ages unless this screwed it up.
Sorry
Not to offend you. But try to connect the cradle to the USB first. And only after that you put your Alpine to the cradle. That's what I did.....
Hi Guys
I have good news, the XDA seems to be working and I think I found the problem. My Dad had tried to change the motherboard on our computer and then reverted back to old one. However he did nt quite set the front USB ports correctly and thats why the PDA kept "shorting". I tried the USB slots at the back and they worked as they are integrated ports.
Also its given me a chance to MOD the xda, learnt a new things on this forum.
Thanks
glad to hear that... hope you'll enjoy your alpine... uhuuhuh... i'm sad alpine is no more in the O2 showroom.... but it's still the most practical PDA phone... by the way beauty is in the eyes of the beholder right?
Also noticed,
When the XDA 2i is docked and rebooted, if u remove and insert the SD card during bootup - It will hard reset. :!:
Found it strange - Dont know if its my XDA thats Faulty or all the same problem.

Help! My tilt freezes up suddenly and then reacts extremely slow to any inputs. I will push a button on the touch screen and it takes the phone about 3-4 seconds to react to the input. Any ideas on what may be wrong and how to go about fixing them? Also, the phone has problems every month or so about going into the 4 color screen when booting up and not starting properly (not sure if this has anything to do with it...very annoying!!). Usually happens though when the battery is drained. Any help would be excellent!
if by USB you mean the computer's USB port, is ActiveSync syncing when the tilt slows down? because I believe that's normal when ActiveSync is actively working in the background...
USB meaning plugged into my laptop...
...and active sync is not even recognizing my device. Everything i do on my phone is delayed a couple of seconds. When i unplug it from the computer through the USB cable everything runs at normal speed.
Another Problem
I tried a hard reset through clear storage (copied all of my contacts to the sim card since my phone was not syncing) and when the phone booted back up it started in the infamous 4 color screen (anyone know what the actual name for this screen is?) and won't turn back on properly!

I got a similar issue with my Kaiser. Pluged it via sync cable to my laptop/PC, and it would freeze both sides (PC and Kaiser). It is definitely a mini-usb issue, a pin is bend, creating a bad contact. If I slightly move the plug in the mini usb, it will eventually come to life. If the cable moves to the right again, it will freeze again. This isn't happening with a wall/car charger however.
Could be you're facing the same problem. Did you recently damage the mini-usb (by inserting the stylus inside instatd of the soft-reset button, like most of the people lol).
Thanx!
Now that i examine it, the USB is slightly damaged on the inside..will try a different one...
Will try when phone actually boots up properly.....
Still Freezing
Got my phone to finally boot up (after numerous attempts) and I used a brand new USB cable and it still is going reaalllllllyyy sloooooooowwww. It also won't sink with my computer. Anyone, please HELP!

Actually, I didn't mean that the cable was damaged, but the mini-usb plug from the Tilt itself. Have you tried holding the cable while pluged right or left and see if tht Tilt reacts normally ?
That didn't seem to make any difference either. When I plug it into a regular charger it works normally.
New Discovery!
My headphones now do not work either. To recap, connect phone through USB to my computer, the phone moves as fast as my grandmother but though it still charges the battery. My regular phone charger works fine and the phone moves as fast as Micheal Phelps. Though my head phones perform sexually like my grandfather, they don't work at all.
I don't get it!
This may be the most unreliable phone I have ever experienced in my entire life. Now the head phones work after I put them in very slowly but when I take them back out of the mini USB port the regular speakers do not play and sound. When I plug the head phones back in I hear the sound through the ear buds. On a more disturbing note, I guess my grandfather is taking cialis. My mini USB port is just messed up!
What the heck is going on?
I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the ROM, because it did this with the factory ROM, Manila 2d and now WM6.5.
I turned the phone off, unplugged it, removed the battery. I put the battery back in, replace the cover and press the power button. Nothing happens. I plug the phone back in to the wall charger and put power, it turns on....for about 3 seconds then reboots and it would seem that it will do this for as long as I let it go. If I unplug the phone while this is going on, it will die.
The last time this happened, it took it about a day and a half to sort itself out. It almost seems like its a battery issue.
Any thoughts or ideas?
UPDATE!
I took the sim card out of the phone for a few seconds and the phone seems to be working now.... But its been up and running for about 20 minute now with no sings of acting up.

tried to charge the pda all night the light stayed orange and never turned green indicating full charge. tried hard reset and when it goes in to prepare rom it shuts off like dead battery. when i plug in the pda to charge battery and then turn on the phone it freezes on splash screen. if i turn on phone then plug in to charge it acts like i havn't pluged in charger. is it the pda or battery?
I am not 100% sure on this, but to me it sounds like the battery.. and that is a MUICH cheaper option to test out... unfortunatly you ahveto wait for shippng typicalyl unless you have a friend who has the same phone.. I got 2 backups and a stand alone charger now... The other option could be your USB port... I have not heard this specific problem with them.... but I am a PC tech and have seen very simmilar problems with laptops... Usually the first think to for is the power port... Just like out phone, if the device is not on a flat surface and such when it is plugging it, it tweaks the port and it eventualyl breaks... on laptops it is not uncommon that when plugged in, the LEF wil light up saying it is getting power to charge, but it enver charges the battery, and even sometimes can;t power up the full system.. .It sort of sounds like this is what you phone is doing as well.. .If that is the problem the stand alone charger would work (my son broke off his usb all together and now syncs via bluetooth and jsut changes batteries.. he has 3 himself as well) If you search online, you can usualyl find a kti with a battery or 2 and a charger/dockign station for under $20US total. Good luck!

tried bootloader and installed official att rom and never shut off. when it was finished with install same issues appeared. help
For anyone facing this issue I would not recommend wasting money on a new battery as this issue has been around with few users since the Kaiser "Tilt" first came out and I've never seen ANY reports that a new battery fixes this. People have bought new batteries, fully charged their battery from a docking station, tried their friends fully charged battery all with the same result. I had this power down issue a Looong time ago my first week in with the Kaiser and managed a fix and am using the same battery now. Although it seems the battery is not being fully charged it's important to leave it charging until you'd assume it's fully charged and get into bootloader mode and flash an official htc Tytn 2 rom. It should flash completely, and the fact that it does not die immediately as on normal boot indicates it is not the battery but the rom. It did take me the whole afternoon of Flashing, recharging and repeating before it finally kicked in. Also, from reading older posts, it seems most if not all users like myself fixed this by flashing the older official htc wm 6.0; worth a shot at least.

Yup, that is what I had to today (I hard reset, actually), with barely enough battery life to do this.
Then the bloody unit came up and was charging - amazing, really!
(Was using the official HTC 6.1 upgraded WindowsMobile OS)
here is my 2 cents....
I owned five Tilts, replaced four of them with warranty issues ... so i have faced this dilemma on at least two of them.
First see if the USB tongue is loose. To do this try to gently tap it with the stylus. If the tongue inside the USB port is loose then you will be facing rebooting and other issues and troubles in the future. The USB tongue gets used and jerked every time you connect your device to your PC or wired headset. If you are still under warranty and the USB connector tongue is loose I recommend returning the phone ( if you still can) and getting a replacement. There is no easy fix for a loose USB connection tongue as i have taken one apart and it is very difficult to repair or replace and very easy to mess it up further.
So, my advice to all Kaiser owners... be careful when plugging and unplugging your phones through the USB. Do it gently as the connectors are very fragile.
For those that have the above issues, I recommend using a separate battery charger tray, avoid plugging the USB as much as you can, and if you must, then administer extra care. The rebooting will stop if you plug the USB cable to the device and move it up and down a hair then holding steady. And most likely you will not get a full charge or even a partial charge. The biggest culprit to this problem is car chargers, and second, is inserting the stylus by mistake (when it is dark and hard to see) in the USB port instead of the Reset hole by accident.
I started having a big issue with my Galaxy Note recently. The problem is that randomly it would think that it's charging, or connected in car dock mode, or connected to a PC, so the screed would light up with the sound of being connected, respective menu popping up, media scanning running and all the crap. Once, it even entered the Safe Mode - a "safe mode" writing appeared in the bottom left corner, and it would stay in all the applications and screens. The phone is quite new, one week only, and first three days it was fine. The MicroUSB jack is undamaged and clean. Now I have troubles charging and connecting the phone to PC - I succeed in doing so only from 6-7th attempt.
No idea whether it is a software or hardware issue, because in download mode it connects to Odin seamlessly, and after connecting it to Odin and rebooting it, for an hour it stays calm and connects and charges properly.
The issue is very annoying and drains battery really fast. Any ideas, gentlemen, what this could be? Or should I take it to the service centre?
Are you using a stock rom? if not you may want to try a full stock unrooted rom and see if the issues continue. If they do then take it back as it shouldn't be doing anything like that.
Did it get any water damage by any chance as electrical devices tend to get possessed when a little water gets in there somehow.
Thanks for the quick answer, martcerv.
I am using the stock KKA rom. I used to have J4, then I flasher Rocket V6 rom, issues started, I flashed to the stock one, issues didn't disappear. And no, no water, no drops, and as I said, it connects nicely to Odin and does connect and charge properly for an hour after that.
I had a very similar problem with my Note. It was like it was possessed by car mode.
My solution was to take out the battery for a few hours. I had tried everything and that seemed to correct the issues.
So maybe take out the battery and leave the phone with the back off in a dry place for a few hours or overnight.
Hm.. Will try that
Didn't help, I just don't know what could be the reason... Now, when I connect it to the PC in debugging mode, it mounts the card and USB storage by itself. And then disconnects. Connects again... Seems that the damn thing got possessed. Will take it to the service centre.
I am having the same problem. There seems to be an issue with the USB port.
Exactly the same problem just started happening today, car mode, clock and weird USB stuff seem to be the main symptoms. Running stock ROM, not rooted, if it doesn't sort itself out by tomorrow will be getting in touch with seller for a replacement.
i have the same problem and it seems like the usb port issue. I will try to send in my note for repair and see if they will fix it. If they refuse, then i will wait for the usb port to be available on the net so I can buy it and install it myself. Its a small independent board with a flexible ribbon cable. can be changed in 10 minutes

Okay so tried sticking the usb end in a bowl of dried rice overnight and it seems to have done the trick so I'm guessing some moisture got in the usb somehow, but really can't think how. Delicate little flowers these notes aren't they
Note slipped out of my pocket and fell in a snowy/slushy parking lot after a big snowfall. For a few days after that it would randomly go into charging mode.
Perhaps the USB ports are prone to malfunctioning and the drop in the snow aggravated the existing problem.
Happening less and less though. Hope it isn't permanently damaged.
Same issue on my new galaxy note
After three days, my note has started to do the same.
It suddenly starts to charge with no wire connected, or activates deactivates the car dock mode by itself.
It can work fine for a couple of hours but then becomes crazy with no reason. I'm almost sure that any water has touched the phone.
After entering "crazy mode", even when it has get calm again the phone doesn't recognize the charger wire. Only taking out the battery lets the phone become "normal".
I'm almost sure is a hardware problem.
To be continued ...
I have the same problem as well after playing in the snow but I fixed mine...
First thing I did was lightly blow-dry the USB side of my note on high-heat for about 5 minutes. I didn't blow-dry the battery or battery area of the phone but that doesn't sound like a bad idea either.
The next thing I did might only serve temporarily as the device needs to dry more: go to settings/applications/development and make sure debugging mode is checked. If its already checked, uncheck it and wait a sec... then check it back on.
I've not seen the thing act up since so I'm crossing my fingers for me and the rest of you. Good luck
P.S. Worse comes to worse, you could always get a new USB port off of EBAY and install it yourself which is what I'll do if I see the charger symbol act up again :-|
Fixed !
I fixed my phone too !!!.
Initially I did the same blow the usb side hopping to put out any particule that could be inside the usb hole.
Whit this the phone started to work normally, but one day later it became grazy again, but then I realized that it was only after using one usb charger that I have at the office.
If I don't use that charger the phone works fine !.
Four days working properly !.
I was on KL7 when my phone started going crazy around the third or fourth day. And the phone wouldn't charge when the power was still on, whether it's connected to the pc or wall charger. Cleaned the port and cable ends with rubbing alcohol and that seemed to solve the issue. Wiped cache partition and dalvik cache a few times too. Oh, and I got so spooked I changed back to my previous stock rom. LOL.
Hope this info will help your phones.
poor USB
Well I have had this problem for 1 month now. What finally fixed it was to clean the USB port with brush and nail varnish remover. Some people use a tooth brush take out battery dip brush in nail varnish remover and clean port and leave to dry for at least 20 minutes.I used a brush from electric razor give out a good clean and not to gentle either needs a good clean to remove oxidization.

I'm not a freak but nail varnish and electric razor
Come on
it seems like a common problem as many people are beginning to have this usb port problem after a couple of month (or less) use of the note. Cleaning the usb port will solve the problem temporarily but the real solution would be to change the usb port circuit board from the inside of the phone. The usb port circuit is not available on ebay yet but some chinese supplier is selling it out of china.

Hi,
First off, I have a non rooted, stock Galaxy note. It's not modded in any way.
The problem started occurring yesterday, all was just fine before. Since then, it won't charge no matter what USB cable or charger I use.
1) Phone on
- I plug the charger to the phone : nothing. The phone doesn't register being connected to the OEM wall-charger.
- I connect the phone using the OEM USB cable to my computer (tryed 3 different computers) : Nothing.
I also tried another charger and several USB cables : no luck.
2) Phone off
- I plug the charger / I connect my phone to a computer using USB cable : the phone boot up and doesn't charge the battery.
Any thought ?
Thx in advance.
Try using some compressed air to clean out the usb port on the Galaxy Note. I had a similar issue with an iPhone once and there ended up being a piece of lint stuck on 1 of the contacts which made it unable to charge. Could be the case with your phone. Other than that contact Samsung and see what they can do for you.
Thx for the advice.
I'll try that out and call over Samsung.
Try factory reset if that could help..

Update:
I tried a micro USB Host Cable (OTG Cable) and it's working fine : recognized and plugged in USB stick is working fine.
Also, I tried a factory reset after backuping my data. All went fine but sadly the problem is still there : no charging.
More update:
After two days, It started working again as if it never happened.
Still wondering what might have caused it
Might be the dust that settled on the battery pins and the contacts on your phone.. happens some times .. glad its back to work.. poor thing..

Happened to me too! It wouldn't charge until I turned off the phone. It worked after I cleaned the phone and usb cable's metal parts--sorry no correct jargon for this--with rubbing alcohol. Make sure there's no lint left from the cleaning.
Yup, had this. On charge with stock charger in the mains. Battery dropping fast, back (top) getting warm. I turned the screen off, left it for 5 mins. Looked again, it was 2% less!
Reboot fixed it.
There did not seem to be any rogue program using the CPU, but I now have a meter and a better logger to examine this if it occurs again. I assume the system got into a loop somewhere, although the phone was normally responsive.

Happening to my phone as well right now. I was worried that the battery is dying so I got a spare online. But it doesn't make sense that its charging and know that it is on one state and not the other.
I panicked so I replaced Rocket Rom with Cassie's. It's still doing this.
Have you guys checked if there is a weird smell from your battery? I thought that was something to look at but dont all batteries smell like that?
galaxy note is experiencing the same hardware problems as galaxy s2 phones. I am very pissed off at samsung. I bought a new galaxy note in dominican republic and after one month of delicate use the phone developed charging problems. Drive mode would start automatically or the phone would shut off all by itself and a battery removal reset would turn the phone on again. then finally, the phone would stay in charging mode even after the usb charge cable is removed. the phone would discharge quickly and then would not turn on. I finally gave the phone to repair dept at claro phone company. they would not fix it and are just showing me a middle finger. Now I guess, I would have to learn to change the charging port myself. After seeing galaxy s2 videos, I see many ribbon contacts would get corroded and need to be cleaned frequently. Many phones were just less than 2 months old and had so much corrosion on the contacts. this is bad design and I think the high current draw for a dual core phone of that huge screen size is causing all kinds of electrical corrosion on the contacts inside the phone. this sucks majorly as I loved the phone when I had it working fine. Now I think I have bought a problem with my saved cash. I will try to repair my own phone soon as I get it back from the repair dept.
My Galaxy Note is doing a similar thing. Not all the same symptoms, but a few similarities.
The other night, when the charger was plugged in the phone kept changing it's mind whether it was plugged in or not - probably every few seconds I was getting the chime it makes when you plug the phone in. I eventually managed to charge the phone by turning it off, removing the battery, replacing it, plugging the charger in, waiting for it to start charging, then turning it on.
Today my phone was trying to tell me it was charging when it wasn't even plugged in to anything!
As with the above post, my phone has been getting hot occasionally and the drive mode has started by itself a few times.
I've used three chargers and four cables.
I'll be taking it along to where I bought it from later on today.
Battery not charging
G Note Battery is not charging .. same problem as of 1st post.
Changed usb cables, chargers, thru PC, laptop, direct wall, cleaning etc
Every thing fails. one month old set ?
OMG, glad to know I'm not the only one. Bought a Galaxy Note from a brazilian network provider (VIVO) and after 1 week of usage I'm experiencing the same problems as you guys.
My phone will only charge when it is powered off and USB connection does not work anymore (even in download mode). Before the problem onset, I noticed some MTP connection and SD Card rescanning without connecting to the PC.
Did a factory reset and got no results. Downloaded Odin Mobile and flashed stock rom and the problem persists.
Has anyone found a fix or the cause for this?
Thanks!
Missing my old Galaxy S...
Strange! After a full night charge, now I can unplug and plug the battery and continue charging from where I stop without turning it off.
I can now get beeps when connecting to PC. It show MTP-Inicialization in the Note screen but I have no access to to Note partitions in Windoes Explorer.
Update: One more strange thing just happened now.
Went to college and left it charging. When I came back at night, tried to connect the Note to the PC and everything is working ok now.
What?!?! Now I'm confused. How can I send it to warranty now? I think I'll have to wait a couple more days.
issue as well
That is my 3rd galaxy note, first one screen cracked, second dont ask me why it was not modified at all but it was so sluggish and froxze all the time, my 3rd one it is rooted device and i have similar issue...I am thinking is it because i was charging it from my wife's htc one phone? I thought they would have the same pins...anyway it is doomed, i tried so many chargers and problem not solved
ok i can comfirm to everyone that i have fixed the problem by buying contact cleaner spray and sprayed inside the usb and beautiful all back to normal!
Nooo..
Have a charging problem as well :/ It detects the charging cable and shows the battery icon with the circle about to charge. But it just turns off before it starts charging, turns on shows the icon again, turns off, turns on, shows the battery icon and so on. I have tried with two different chargers. For me i looks like the voltage is too low? Maybe the battery needs a jumpstart? I'll just leave it in the charger and see what happens. Suggestions welcome
Edit: It's just two weeks old, damn it. Last night I used it untill the battery was empty. That is why I think the voltage is so low it doesnt accept charge.
Edit2: Fixed! Puh! I was right. Battery needed a higher mah to start the charging. Leaving the post as it is for future reference.
same problem here, however it charges from my laptop... how strange?
hi
i have a problem with my SGN the device keep telling me its charging even when i disconnect the device from the charger i have tried to flash a new kernel with no luck the problem remain and i have flashed a new rom and made a full wipe and im still getting this error dose any one knows what's causing this problem help me please
thanks in advance
Dirty micro usb connector
You might try this. It fixed mine, which is why I wrote it
It might "look" ok, but get a strong power loop (15x) to really get a good
look at it.

I had the exact same problem last week. Ics was unusable due to pop up: charging paused. Voltage to high. Even when usb was unplugged.
I fixed the problem by running the battery flat. Charged to 100% ran fully flat again and then charged again. No problems since. I think the problem was caused by flashing cm9 when on charge. Sounds unlikly but its all i can think of.
Hope this helps

this problem has been discussed earlier. please do a research and you will see a solution. the problem is hardware not software. take the battery off and then push the usb pins straight insde the phone. take a tiny screwdriver and push the usb pins in the usb port of the phone straight back inside the phone. problem solved.
Final solution to charging problems
Guys, stop messing around with cleaning and pushing before you do more damage to your Notes.

arrived today, 7 minutes later replaced and all good and working perfectly. It is really easy to do that (unless of course you have warranty, in that case just have Samsung do that for you - I couldn't because Samsung does not give a flying f**k about customers in Canada who happen to prefer the International version of their own f**ked up product - especially with the COMMON problem like this one)
There is a video tutorial on YouTube about opening the note, for this particular part it takes total of 12 philips screws and prying the case with plastic case opener - I ordered this tool of e-bay as well)
You don't need to be an expert to fix this problem...
You get an airbrush and blow some air on your phone's micro USB port. Do it a couple of times and you should be good to go. Some logical reasons why you get this problem, is that overtime some lints and dusts can gather and accumulate on the insides of your Note's micro usb port.
A simple airbrush is all there is to it.
I my case i tried cleaning with air, with alcohol while it was in the phone and when it was removed from phone and nothimg helped. Replacing the 16 dollars part fixed the problem (hopefully) permanently

Just to chime in with my own experience. I started having this problem a few weeks ago. The phone would keep telling me it was charging, even with it not connected to any charger, or would constantly flash the battery icon in the notification bar from charging to not charging continuously. Even rebooting the phone did not help at all. When the phone was off, the screen would continuously show a grey battery, then a green battery with the indicator dots below it saying it was charging (and it was not even connected to a charger). Since the phone was constantly keeping itself awake from turning itself from a charge state to an uncharge state, it would drain the battery quicker than usual, about 10%/hour when screen was off on ICS.
At first cleaning the ports with a interdental brush and some alcohol and then blowing some compressed air helped for a few weeks and then the problem came back. After that, cleaning the ports did not work. I have also tried pushing the usb strip inside the port in as suggested above and that did not work.
I figured it was a hardware problem as I did a search and I saw that the Galaxy SII and GNexus (which are also 2nd generation Galaxy S phones as the Note is) were also having the same problems as well, and the result in most cases was to replace the charging port. In fact there is a 17+ page thread in the GNexus forum where the charging ports are problematic here on XDA. I guess the charging ports in this generation of phones are not that great as I have never had a problem with the charging ports of both my Epic 4G and Nexus S 4G (which were from the 1st generation of Galaxy S phones).
Since I am in the USA, Samsung USA will not fix my phone since it is an international version, and I don't want to ship it out of the country, wait weeks, pay a lot on shipping costs, and hope they actually do fix it. So I decided to fix it myself.
So long story short, I ordered a new charging port from eBay (~$10 shipped) and a set of Samsung phone maintenance tools (small phillips and torx screwdriver, tweezers, a pry tool and 2 guitar pick looking tools) from eBay (~$3 shipped) and watched a few disassembly videos on Youtube and did it myself. It was actually very easy to do and took me no more than 15 minutes. All fixed now, no more "phantom" charging, no constant annoying phone waking-up-by-itself notification beeps, etc.
My solution
Same problem here too...but thanks to some posts in XDA, I could determine that it was basically a result of dirty USB connection points.
So, I used a tooth brush to gently rub and clean the connection points from the outside ( without dissembling the USB port- not that adventurous u see!).
After a little bit of cleaning and blowing air into the port I switched on the phone and the problem was gone!:good:
Been just a couple of hours since the 'treatment'- will keep you guys posted if it comes back...fingers crossed!!

Good luck!
Hopefully yours continues to work after the cleaning. Mine did the same thing for a couple of weeks after cleaning it and no amount of cleaning or pushing the pins back worked. I finally broke down and bought a new charging port and did it myself (see my post above yours). In fact, since I did that fix, it has been forking flawlessly ever since. I still think it's a common problem in the 2nd generation of Galaxy S devices (GS2, GNote, GNexus) for whatever reason since it hasn't happened to either of my 1st generation Galaxy S phones (Epic 4G and Nexus S 4G). Maybe a bad batch of charging ports for our phones possibly. In fact I'm thinking about buying another charging port as back up if it does happen again just so I don't have to wait a few days for the part to arrive.
If it does happen again and cleaning doesn't work, then I really do suggest changing the ports. It is really easy and their are several videos on YouTube that show you how to open and take apart your phone. You can buy everything you need off eBay for about US $15 (charging port and Samsung tools).
Hi all. There is a standalone way to charge the Note GT n7000 battery? I'd like to try if it works before buying a new usb module but without battery I can't.
Thank you very much.
