Best Rom for O2 wizard. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hi all, i wanted to pick your brains, i understand a little about the rom updates, and wanted to know whats best for my new phone thats now due again.
It be the Imate Jam, i will be using it currently on o2, and wanted the most up to date system that is stable, could you advice me on what one is best, and a link to download it so i do not get the wrong one
If you got time could you explain what the differnces with the roms are, what bonus and extra come with each version so i know what features i would use and what i wouldn't.
Thanks all.

have a look here first > http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Wizard then also do a search for cid unlock on this forum other than taking some time to read thought these forums these not much to tell you, as there's no single rom out there that is a clear leader however some of these custom roms around are very very good (custom roms are only possible after cid unlocking) have fun and remember DONT RUSH into flashing!

Total Newbie but please help

Ok so I got an o2 xda and I have managed to unlock the phone so I can put my t-mobile sim in.
This xda has never had a firmware upgrade nor do I know about such stuff.
Soooooo, what firmware could I install and how do I do it.
As said total newbie but please help where you can, we where all newbie's once
Numbers that flash up on boot up are....
R 1.10.00
1327.10
1.60.00 wwe
Does this tell you the current firm ware ?
We are once newbie.. but we once do research and learn ourself and not sit and wait. Go read and whever you do not understand, just ask instead of for everything to be fed to you
First try reading clicking on the top left wiki
PMSL, oh thanks, whats a winkie.
So I should just bundle into it flash the wrong firmware then post about how my xda won't go past the boot screen, then you can all sit on your selfrightous pulpit and say you should of asked ?
Well, take a look around this site and find some of the threads from people who had no idea what they were doing but didn't let that stop them. They're not real hard to find these days. It will probably be a simple process, but it may not be. When you're flashing the phone and your PC crashes, you yank the cable out, the battery dies, power goes out, the phone falls off the table, you spill water on it and everything else that I've seen happen, what are you going to do? All the answers are here and they're not hard to find and it's REAL HANDY to know the answers, or at least know where to find them, BEFORE you go off half-cocked knowing just enough to be dangerous. So rather than frying your phone and then coming back here to ***** about it, go read through the threads on flashing, read about what has gone wrong and what people have done about it. People that are a lot better at this than you and me. And this is assuming you even NEED a different ROM. I've tried lots and I'm perfectly happy with the stock T-Mobile 2.26 system. Custom ROMs have all kinds of problems not to mention your warrantee ends the moment you start that flash process and you're not going to find many people willing to help you turn your expensive toy into a smoking paperweight.

Haha.. nice to have you joker around once a while.
If you were to be in the position to bundle in a wrong ROM, I wouldn't recommend you to even flash your ROM, even if step by step instructions are given. When you have confident enough to do your research and ask 'specific' question (of which you can do before you get yourself into troubles). Just enjoy your phone as it is.
Read here for inspiration for step by step instruction.
Why thankyou kind sir, LOL
Well, I'm actually ROTFL and not LOL at this!
(But I'm easily amused!)
Thanks!
I'm just at Heh level, personally. It's amusing but this trend of people with too much money bricking their phones is getting kind of old. See "[Release 1.0 RC1] AKU 3.2 ROM" for the latest blind rush to nowhere. *shrug*....it's not my $400.
Wow what activity we have, ok fook the phone lets just take the p!ss lol.
All it was was my phone was on o2 network but I'm with t-mobile.
OK here's a question, can I flash the t-mobile firmware onto my o2 phoone and get a working result ?

Yes. Just make sure you get the right Wizard ROM from T-Mobile (e.g. not Charmer, not Universal, etc).
Having trouble downloading the xda tool from the ftp Any other source ?
The t-mobile rom, is it uk friendly as I have read a lot about the us version me thinks.
Which 'tool' are you refering to? Seems alright with me. The xda ftp sites may go down once a while. You may want to retry later.
I'm not sure whats with US ROM. I think the base ROM should be the same for both country, only the Ext ROM is different with different settings for both country. You may install whatever goodies you get from US ROM later.
Anyway, just to make the point clear, why do you want to use the T-mobile ROM?
What is disscus about this thread..?
Xda II (Himalaya) or Xda Mini Pro/S (Wizard)...?
this ROM indicated O2 Xda II (Himalaya)...

I belive mine to be the XDA II (Himalaya) (o2 version yeah ?)
I am having problems setting up wap ect and thought that maybe a rom upgrade would not only get rid of the o2 software completly but also have the advange of being t-mobile based from then on as that is the sim i am using.
The tool I was trying to download was to upload/download rom from windows base I think, LOL

Farias new ROM - Something not right?

Hi all,
NEW USER ALERT: Get your flame throwers warmed up ....
I've just installed Farias latest ROM .... at least I think I have. The problem is, I've never done one before so I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
My fone is a T-Mob G3 on the latest t-Mobile ROM 2.21.2.5 (ExtROM 2.21.2.109). The device was already unlocked (but I unlocked it again just to be sure).
I downloaded the ROM and installed. No issues.
I downloaded the patch and installed. No issues.
However, when I reboot the fone, the IPL/SPL still reports 2.21. In settings->device information, the ROM version is still 2.21.2.6 and the ExtROM entry is now missing completely.
Whilst the fone DID ask me to recalibrate the screen etc etc on startup (as it does with a new ROM), I expected it would be otherwise clean. However, it still had "essence of t-mobile". The splash screen, still t-mobile; the theme was Windows Default but the T-mobile theme was still there if I wanted to select it. However, no sign of GPRS or WAP settings. Also no sign of any of the miriad of apps indicated to be present.
So all-in-all, I'm a confused newbie and need some guidance.
Can anyone tell me where I'm at, and what the next step should be?
Many thanks to all,
~sq!
This is not a flame. It is a complaint though. This question has been asked at least three times in the thread that discusses the ROM.
Your device is not CID unlocked. There is a sticky here that will explain how to do this. Please read through the thread (it's only 23 pages long - the v1 thread is about 3x the size!) and you'll learn a lot.
The goal of a forum archive is to give newbies the chance to get up to date on the knowledge available. Please read widely before posting.
Good luck with the upgrades and I hope you will become another happy user of Faria's latest ROM.
Thanks for the info (and thanks for not going off the deep end)
I understand how it is when the same Q's keep being asked and answered. Everyone gets sick of it. The only comment I would make is, there's a ton of good stuff on these forums and, as a newbie, its not always obvious where to look. I read the "Definitive guide" and CID unlocked according to its sage words (obviously I didn't do it right though and I also read a good deal of the v2 thread (admittedly not all of it and that was BEFORE I'd attempted an install). Spent a good 4-5 hours reading up on stuff, which ROM to get, what i need to pre-check, etc etc.
However, I shall now dig into the ROM thread once more and see what the score is. Thanks for pointing me there.
Cheers,
~sq!

UPDATE:
To add to the overwhelming body of evidence that the Guide is THEE GUIDE, having read it (again) and spotted the error of my ways, I am now enjoying the benefits of the awesome Faria ROM. The trick was I had lokiwiz 0.2 not 0.2b and the CID unlock had failed. Thanks to all for the help.
~sq!
@ squawk - Indeed it doesn't appear that you're unlocked. I'd suggest that you do it again. As for the IPL/SPL still reporting 2.21, that's because this ROM is OS and Splash only. I myself would have installed the T-Mobile 2.26 first as I recommended in the Guide to insure that I had the latest IPL/SPL available to the public on my device.
Faria's latest rom ver.2 is a great rom no problem with battery drain or memory leak, seems stable but it has some known bugs thats all

need help of senior members for touch diamond, 2g, edge, indian, diam140

for starters for all practical purposes im a baby....my diamond is bloody slow...deatils for senior members are....rom : 1.37.720.2WWE, radio : 1.00.25.03, spl : 1.37,0000, diam140, microP-diam(led) v11, PSOC-diam stage_pvt v0*30.....these are the specs....boinger(senior) now suggests flashin spl, and radio update for updanting to any rom u choose, some other senior guys says diam140 users dont update.....other seniors say flash only signed and only the one your phone came with....to put it mildly im a bit overwhelmed.....can any senior provide a laymans answer.....this is my third htc and this one is so slow its a pain.........
mere bhai.. here is kaiser thread
EDIT: now here the correct place
Well for starters, how about some line breaks and correct punctuation on your post?
That would help us all to understand it better without having to read it 2 or 3 times.
Now a suggestion.
First thing you need to know is that there is an official Rom available for your Diamond that will make it more responsive and will keep your warranty intact.
Go to www.htc.com and register yourself in the htc club, then register your Diamond.
Now select "My Download" on the left side of the page and choose "Device Updates". You should see a picture of the Diamond. After this is quite straightforward. Just be sure that your Diamond has more than 50% of battery left before upgrading it.
Another detail, the update will delete all your information on the Diamond so i would make a backup before. Search the forum for Backup options.
If you are more needy, then check the Rom Development section and there you can choose a Rom that suits your needs, but for this you will need to upgrade your Hard SPL with one that allows you to upgrade to "non" standard Roms. Everything is clearly explained there, take your time to read it, do it when you feel confortable with it. Ask questions about the process, but please, try to do it yourself, this is the only way you will learn.
Hope to have helped.
Regards,
Luís
Unbelievable...
So let's see, you created an account in XDA and then decided to post the same question in three different sections.
This will not get your questions answered faster, actually it will only prove that you are a little bit on the lazy side to read the posts on the forum.
All you questions were already asked and answered, so please use the search and stop spamming the forums.
Edit: Now the posts were merged, so please make sure that whenever you have a doubt that you post it once in the right place. Hope you have learned your lesson. We all should once in a while learn with our mistakes ;-)
firtsly put the same question in diff posts coz didnt know which thread/conversation exactly my questions wud fit in.....secondly not everyone in this world is a techie.....i started with the obvious that is htc website....have no updates yet on india....tried hong kong rom coz thats the one that came out first...didnt work, read some more n learned about spl and flashing it....and how to update the device, also read about experts saying on this forum itself diam140 users do not update your rom from what is currently available, then read some more posts from boinger...who starts with his hardspl...dont know whether signed or unsigned...has his own rom...then he figures out flash hardspl and update radio...then choose your rom....ok...between signed and unsigned spl, between radio first or htc asia rom or somemodified rom like panosha.....or maybe ending up with a bricked phone....its a bit much to digest if u dont have the background.....can any "expert/senior" member say simply...for indian 2g/edge phone......use unsigned hardspl 1.37 or 1.40....update with not a cooked but htc rom for lets say asia but not hongkong....hongkong is in asia right ?.....i will not get 2 simple lines but yes the free educational lessons in posting and grammar abound......but really sarcasm aside thank u for your time.

Some questions, apologies for my newbie-status...

Hello there,
Great forum you guys have here.
I will be receiving my Diamond on Thursday from Orange. I have some questions and would be very grateful for your help and advice. I have looked across the site for answers but there's so much info it's difficult to know where to start!
Firstly, I understand I may need to flash the ROM to improve speed. Speed is very important to me and so should I need to do this, what ROM would you recommend - something simple, offering a good balance between memory consumption and speed please. Does the official HTC update help at all?
Secondly, what do I need to do to preserve the original ROM, just in case I need to get it back in order to return the phone.
Thirdly, can you provide me with a link that clearly explains the process of updating the ROM as i've never done anything like this before.
If there's anything else i've missed (such as settings changes - I know I should get rid of the Orange homepage in favour of HTC's for instance), please tell me - i'm eager to have my Diamond adequately set-up ASAP.
Thanks for your time & patience,
S.
well i got my diamond from orange a few weeks ago and i would like to know the same. The one thing i can tell you that it comes with rom 1.37 WWE and not the orange version which I thought was weird, the quick start book even shows the diamond with the orange rom. So if your the safe then you wont get a rom ruined by orange
Excellent, I hope the Diamond I receive is the same. I hate Orange extensions!
check out http://www.modmydiamond.info
Very useful site.
Thank you! Seems like a useful site...
Can anyone suggest what ROM to go for or a guide that details/reviews ROMS?
Thanks,
S
read , read & then read some more.
there are way too many ROMS to recommend.
workout what you wnat from a ROM then go find it.
i now this attitude sounds a bit tough but in the end you will gain invaluable knowledge about your phone along the way

I have to agree!
I was once a newb to WinMob (only about a month ago) and I hadn't a clue... I read, read and read and now I up updating roms, radios and installing apps like a good thing!
My own personal preference for a ROM is SwiftBL 5.6 - its super slick and includes loads of apps like GSen, Advanced Config, etc.... very nice app! You'll find it in the ROMs secion!
Enjor your phone!
DG
right o
if you go to the official HTC site you will get a download to the newest official htc rom 1.93 i think which will improve the phone speed no end - it is also easy to install (follow instructions on site). just make sure you backup everything first!
trust me it turned my phone from unusable to a godsend! and its official rom
Thanks for the replies. I will attempt reading the wealth of info available on this site, but i'm swept off my feet with work at the moment. So any concise info from you guys will really help me to get my diamond running well ASAP during this busy time. I have however read the guides on how to install the ROM at least and will get stuck in properly when things calm down.
Would you say that the latest official HTC ROM is faster than swift 6.0?
Thanks again,
S.

But you cannot download from HTC if you have an operator supplied device.
Oh! Damn. Oh well, I guess it's gonna have to be Swift or another ROM then...

Understanding of ROM and Radio [Help!]

hey guys,
i have a htc touch diamond and have never updated any of the phones software and was wondering what would be the best rom and radio updates to get on my phone and how do i go round trying to change it?
currently my phone has:
ROM version: 1.37.405.1 WWE
Rom date: 06/12/2008
if someone could please help me out understanding what i should do and how i can update it to the best versions i would really appreciate it.
thank you.
Read all the threads and don't ask which ROM is the best and stuff like that!! Each person's choice might be different from yours. Take some time to go through all the STICKY's . Thats how everyone learns.

no help then....?
woooow!
thats mean! look for threads with the radios... make your selection witch will coordinate to your service provider. first! you have to unlock your phone witch is like flashing your rom. its called SPL, I am currently flashing a touch to work with sprint. I am on the hunt
