speaker lose - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hi all,
I think my internal speaker has come lose inside my alpine as I can hear a rattle and the sound comes and goes, has any one taken one apart or are there any pdfs about on how too dismantle one
cheers

Sorry to hear about that.... I had same problem too.....

Yeah, I have a rattly speaker - I think it's because the middle bit which goes over the speaker to protect it has become partially pushed out of its little holes on the inside of the front case - the problem is, the gap is so small I can't get my finger around it to push it back into its holes, so I'll have to take the case off.
It's not so bad at the moment, but I'll give it a go when I get a new phone (September, when my contract renews) - I imagine that dropping my phone a few times hasn't helped it

No Sound

I have no sound whats so ever?
I think i know the answer to my problem - i'm just not sure how to fix it.
Basically part of my headset is stuck in the headset port. It's the little tiny tip section of the jack end. I think the phone thinks there is a headset plugged in and thats why the speaker is not working - also when taking calls i cant hear the other person and they cant hear me.
Problem is, what do i do about it? It's an awful small jack fitting in the first place - never mind trying to get the smallest part out of that hole?
Any idea's? I want to avoid returning the phone to O2 because when they last had it (the touch screen stopped working) it took 4 weeks before i got it back and I need the phone for GPS everyday!
OOooooo errrr.
Thats got to be the worst of luck.
I can only siggest two possible things to do and they're nasty, very nasty!
1. Get a cocktail stick and dip the smallest possible amount of SuperGlue on the end(and I mean the smallest dribble.) Infact put a drop on a ceramic tile and dip the cocktail stick into it for a really small amount. Then insert and hold for a few minutes. You may have enough bond to ease out the remains.
2. If you dont use the jack you could shove a nail in there and gently wiggle if for quite a while to break the solder points carefuly and then pull the jack off, thus disconnecting the headset.
Sounds rough and nasty but thats what I'd do and then if it failed I'd put the jack on the remaining headset and send it back to O2 for replacement.

Sounds like something loose

Hi !
I got this phone last week, but i think something is loose on it. When i put on my desktop i can hear something loose, and when i use my finger and knocking softly on the back beside the camera, i hear something loose. Is this normal or is it broken ? I cant hear anything loose if i just shake it.

Mmm i dont hear anything like that on my Diamond? If mine was making a strange noise that would worry me a bit! Is the back cover on ok? Also when you take the back cover off, do you still hear anything?
Strange!
yes
the sound is when i am knocking with my finger beside camera....sounds like a screw loose or something...i have removed the battery and batterycover but it still there
isn't the stylus magnet gotten loose? Can you make it with or without stylus?
You are not the first one with loose magnet and it's not that big deal to fix.
Hi !
This give me hope. What is Stylus magnet ?

The magnet that holds the stylus into the phone. Try removing your stylus and tapping the phone in the same spot, does it still rattle? If the magnet was loose, the tip of the stylus could be rattling around near the camera.
Isn't your stylus getting 'sucked in' ?
strange sound
It is not the magnet i think....but could it be that the sound should be there ? The phone is vibrating when there is a call, and maybe its normal ? or am i just hoping thats the case ?
yes
Everything is working great but when putting the phone on the desktop i get the feeling something is loose since the scrambling sound.
When i remove pen and battery and knocking on the flat area where battery should be, then i get a small scrambling sound.
I always thought that noise came from the autofocus-lens of the camera ......
When i shake the phone there is no noise. When i put it on the desk there is this small noise.
But everything works fine.
loose
Hi !
I had a talk to HTC and there will be a small sound when knocking easy with finger on backside phone. But you should not hear anything when shaking the phone. And you should only hear the sound when having the phone beside your ear and knocking with finger. Anyway my sound was to high and i could hear the sound with earplugs so got recommendation by HTC to return the phone. I was also in 2 other shops and listening by knocking on them and there was also a very smll sound.
Thanks for all answers...
Hmmm, my Diamond has a rattle too, but it's quite loud...
I can hear it easily from a meters distance (my arms aren't any longer )..
Did anyone find out what is causing the rattle?
Thanks.
edit: I think it's a part of the camera (autofocus). If I autofocus and let go of the button, I hear the exact same "click" as I hear when tapping the backside of the phone. It also looses the autofocus, I'm afraid this may be a defect...
Mine is in a great condition
My device is working super!~

Replacement for External Speaker?

My captivate's external speaker came loose a few days ago and the sound went dead every time it does. I can temporarily fix it by pressed hard on the back of the speaker and push it back to place however, every time the speaker is so loud (50% or higher) it came loose again. So every time someone call me or the arlam goes off, the sound went dead again.I took my captivate apart hoping I could tighten the loose part but the speaker is just one piece that is all glue together. I'm all for opening the speaker and fix it but Im want to make sure that it is possible. So I just want to know if you can open the speaker and fix this problem, if not is there a place or website that sell replacement for the external speaker? Most of the site I looked only sell stuffs like camera, back covers, and lcd displays.

I dont think its the screen making the squicking noise.

If I hold the tablet from the side - opposite side to where it squeaks then try to make it replicate the squeaking sound, on my tablet it wont make the squeaking sound at least when I do this from the opposite side, or bottom and top. Only if I press it right at the point where it squeaks against the back, then it will squeak. So if it don't squeak when I hold it on the opposite side then push on the glass this makes me think its because something to do with the back cover that is making this squeaking sound. I tried holding it from a lot of different points on the tab and it wont squeak unless I press it exactly right against the back at the point where it will then make this sound. I tried to listed really close and it also sounds somewhat like its coming from the back, I could be wrong though, it wont be the first time.
I thought that it was that black band right above the battery at first but after turning some of the screws a quarter and a half a turn i no longer hear any squeaks so it's really difficult to say what it really is.
I strongly believe the squeaky sound comes from the back plate, well for my one anyway. Initially my left hand side was squeaky so I opened up the case and realized all my screws were tight (no protruding scree by the way). After closing the back, my left hand side was completely squeaky free, but now my right hand side is! I think it's the quality of the back plate but like what others have said, it really depends on your particular unit.

Might be broken, bent, dusty or dirty contact. Shine a torch inside and look if you can see anything. You could try cleaning it with a cotton tip with most of the wool taken off so it will fit inside. Put a little bit of alcohol on it and give it a couple of spins.
