Downgrade from Mr. Clean 2.24 to latest Qtek stock ROM? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Greetings,
After flashing to the Mr. Clean 2.24a (2.24.10.1WWE) ROM I find myself with keyboard language problems. These problems were not present on the stock Qtek ROM so I want to downgrade to the latest stock Qtek ROM (2.17 WWE?).
Can I do this or not? I've read that 2.x versions can't be downgraded but I want to be 100% sure.

Why not just fix the keyboard problems? There are Registry settings to change the KB Language and you can even configure symbol keys using a customized text file.

Because the registry setting to change the keyboard language has no effect on the Mr. Clean 2.24 ROM. That's precisely the reason why I want to downgrade.
I've posted about this in a separate topic but there's been no response.

You should be able to run the downgrade without issues.

Okay, from which I conclude that downgrades from one 2.x version to another 2.x version are posible, but not to a 1.x version?
/POL

I've been able to downgrade from 2.x Rom to 1.x Rom without problem on my 8125.

How can I help?

Hi Guys,
I have a pda2k from i-mate. bought from expansys USA. I have only loaded the official imate latest rom on it.
The unit of course is in english, it is unlocked and I have tested with different operator sims, works with them all.
I would love to try the new rom 1.40. I am not sure if i can downgrade once I upgrade to the 1.40. Any suggestions?
Do the developers of BA need any details from my unit, I would be happy to assist and post results, or post rom etc.
I would like to upgrade to RAdio rom 1.12 assuming I will still maintain an unlocked device and if my unit will get any more stable than it is already.
thanks for any suggestions/feedback.
Your device will remain unlocked, up or downgrade it as much as you feel happy with. Wiki is the best for info, roms ect.

I followed the wiki pages and ran the getdevice data, the following is what I got:
PH20B 0 B WWE E CDL__001 1.22.00 0 0 1.22.136 1.06.00 06.00
What does CDL stand for? any ideaa? Since I did not buy my unit from a cellular operator but instead from expansys USA, the unit was unlocked when I purchased it.
Can I upgrade to ver 1.40 and stilll maintain an unlocked state?
Thanks.

Thats is your operator Id, what the CDL stands for I pass. YOu will need that value in the fix^.bat of the new 1.40 rom.
Sim Unlocked is sim unlocked, it will stay that way.
Make sure you use the type I rom if you go for the 1.40, read the threads on it (there are 4) not everybody is happy with that rom.

Only NBf found in the upgrade dir will be installed. However you will do a hardreset after upgrade thus you will need to install all your other apps as well as sync your contacts ect.
Side effects, sure it could go bad and you end up with a brick, happens to the best of us.

therock112, as a user of the 1.4 ROM and 1.12 radio on my imate PDA2K, on Cingular, I have to say the radio is much better than the stock radio, better connections, faster, more bars, etc. Also interfaces with the wifi banner bars better, info presented in the banner is more accurate and informative. I also like the 1.40 ROM, things are quicker and the battery life is now better than with the stock ROM.

Updating Radio ROM

I have a MDA VARIO flashed with an Imate Kjam ROM (one of the first found here). Radio is stil 01.01.10
I want to flash my RADIO ROM. Is it as simple as this? (found in thread here)
Download and install the radio update utility - http://rapidshare.de/files/10717194/Wizard_GSM_11210.exe.html
I ask because I think there are also ROM updates that come with OS and Radio? And Also I read about the ROM tool that can do this. More roads lead to Rome I guess but the executable seems the easiest way to go.
Another way is to use aWizard 1.2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386
Unfortunately I've found separete Radio ROM image just in Portugal Brazilian ROM archive (1.13.10, ftp://xda:[email protected]/HTC_Wizard/Roms/Qtek/QTEK_9100_portuguese.rar)

I don't think he meant it in a sarcastic way. I think he meant is there a way to quantify your findings.
I would like to improve the sound quality of my wizard, also. I'm especially concerned with the earpiece volume and the speakerphone clarity for the called party. Everyone I talk to on the speakerphone says it sounds very "scratchy" and full of "static".
Did yours sound this way before you upgraded, and does it still sound that way?
Thx.

hello,
I have HTC QTEK 9100 with:
ROM VERSION - 1.6.7.1 WWE
ROM DATE 11/28/05
RADIO VER 01.12.10
PROTOCOL VER 4.0.13.23
EXTROM VER 1.6.7.101

if yes from where i can download working rom vers ?

I would prefer this rom ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wi...digy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Its AKU2
Straight upgrade without the need to unlock your device.
Does not void your warranty
Safer.

hi, what are diference between my ROM and your adviced ROM ver ?
Hi, i used to use your rom before my current and it was quite a good rom but the aku2 rom i suggested is better
1. Has push email - so your email arrives in a way that your sms's does, almost instantly.
2. Rom is more stable - no more spontaneous soft reset's or dropped calls
3. Battery life is noticeably better.
4. Device is a bit quicker
5. Calls using the phone are better because it has an updated radio.
6. Downside is 2 line date - can be sorted with lvmtime and battery on taskbar - can be covered with same program.
hope that helps

Hi ,
Is this the latest normal rom, i mean not tweaked, tinkered or modified ?
I looked in the FTP server but the numbering system for the roms is not really clear...
Since i am Dutch i don't mind a Dutch version...
Does it have A2DP ?
rgrds Mike
I assume you have a t-mobile vario - latest official dutch rom is here http://www.t-mobile.nl/zakelijk/med...y_2210205_22102108_021911_TMO_NL_DUT_Ship.exe
You can stop the t-mobile extras installing by doing as soft reset just before they install. None of the roms mentioned include a2dp but there is an easy addon for that look at the a2dp addon thread.

Hi thx for the info.
Your're right i have an MDA Vario
Btw is this the latest ever or just the latest dutch ?
And is it newer than the above mentioned Qtek ?
rgrds Mike
Its newer than the above qtek rom the first few numbers give it away 2.21 vs 2.17 the higher this first number the newer the rom.
There is a newer qtek rom 2.8 something but its a test rom but you can get it in dutch. Only problem is that when you boot up it says test rom and some people have noticed a memory leak, but it does have a2dp included but many have reported it does not work that well with this rom.

from the top info bar... the icons appeared after upgrade.
10x
Those icons are part of the ROM. All ROMs of the AKU 2.1 variety are going to have those icons in place.
That said, if I were you I would immediately downgrade back to a 1.x ROM and do a CID unlock before upgrading. You don't NEED to do it if you stay with operator ROMs, but if you ever want to use a custom ROM in the future it's something you'll want to do.
The CID encryption changed somewhere between 2.17 and 2.21 and the unlocking tools no longer work. If you upgrade to a bootloader that is version 2.21 or higher you will not be able to use the current downgrader tool and you will not be able to use lokiwiz02b to unlock the CID. At that point the only option is to pay imei-check.co.uk to do the job. Might as well take the free route while you can.
re
why I need to upgrade ROM again ? this ver is working OK till now
i have not operotors ROM.

Bad idea and not possible to my knowledge.
Curious, what's that EXTROM ??? (DISSAPEAR FROM MY DEVICE INFO PAGE) in your sig all about? If you're not running any extended rom and you're not tweaking the registry in regards to wifi that MIGHT explain your complaint. It's documented in the wiki..
i install a cab with the tweaks from Molski website, and its not helping at all, the only change that its made is to accept the G instead of only B
If there is another change in the registry then i dont know if have it installed.
But i believe that if i install the Molski 2.26 rom, the extrom is not installed by default? or do i need to do something extra?
Any help will be great!!
No, that's it. These devices don't work with all routers I've heard....
And no, the G4 won't run the extended rom...
No answers for you my friend, sorry!

New radio ROM 1.38.00.11

I've extracted the radio ROM from 1.23.408.1 Italian Trinity ROM and packaged here as a standalone NBH radio upgrade:
TRIN_RADIO_1.38.00.11_Only_SSPL.rarThis radio has HTC_BOOT 0108 and GPS enabled.
To upgrade the radio connected the phone to computer through USB cable and activesync enabled, Des SSPL will be pushed into your phone when the RUU starts.
Remember that when flashing a radio only you don't need to hard-reset your phone, so no data will be lost.
Enjoy!
so could i use the original german htc rom and upgrade with this radio upgrade to gps-functionality?
or do i understand something wrong??
So what the change's for 1.35 to 1.38??

I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer that yet but I believe you'd still need some kind of driver in the OS. Might be wrong though.
Our best option would be to get someone to dump a german GPS ROM from Vodaphone or Swisscom Trinity and make that flashable. I'm looking forward to this but know nobody who has one.
waht kind of update can we do ?

This is an unmodified HTC radio, so you should not loose warranty by flashing it. You can always flash back your original radio using SSPL, as far as the phone is not bricked.

Yes... 1.23 is your ROM version, 1.18 is the RADIO ROM version which is going to be updated, it's only a radio, won't touch your OS ROM.
