Wanna join me to a higher level....?

Okay guys....this is the deal.
Right now I am pissed off by the noobs!
Me, Dr Puttingham, Faria and a few others..."the Gods of the Wizard Upgrading Forum" (if I can call myself and the rest of them like that) are pissed off, mostly because we got tired by all the noobs asking the same questions over and over and over again....
A few months ago this forum had some "higher intelligence" and most people did read the forum before asking, the last 1,5 month, they are first starting to ask and then read. Giving us the blame for bricking their "brand new Wizard"....screw that!
A few weeks ago I have setup a forum on www.molski.biz (www.molski.biz/forum) until now it has not been used a lot, not even by me, I didn't care about my own forum, I only cared about the XDA forum.
But right now I am thinking of moving over to my own forum, release my Roms only on my forum, answer posts only on my forum, help noobs (that can convince me that they read, read, read and only then asked a question!).
The advantage me, my mods and my admins will have is the ability to delete stupid cid-lock, what's the best rom, where is my comm manager button and how can I see if I have a G3 or G4 Wizard questions. Only questions, tutorials, information that are worth posting will stay on the forum, the rest will be deleted without asking.
Using my forum this way will keep it clean, good and every post will be worth reading!
I also have the power to let new users only post a week after registration, ban them if they get rude and things like that.
Hopefully I will get the GOOD people of XDA with me to my forum (XDA Admins, please believe me when I say I DON'T wanna steal any member, but you have to understand, XDA is going down the drain if you guys don't do something about all the irritations of respected members very soon!).
So guys, please come to www.molski.biz/forum and start filling it, so me and others can join in an active way!

I think there are a lot of people here that have upgraded to your roms and not asked the dumb questions.
I'm a noob, I read all the posts about using cooked roms for weeks before I decided to upgrade to your rom. I never asked any questions and I did not brick my phone. I find it amusing how many people did not read the threads and bricked their phones.
I find your rom to be outstanding, so if I have to go to your website to get a newer one then so be it.

I'm also a little upset by the some questions raised by some of the "noobs" as you call them.
...... Also I'm as upset by some answers written by the "gods" as you call yourself.
If you want to open up your "expert" Forum, then please do, but don't expect anything better. The way you're acting now you'll will always, in any other Forum, be annoyed by the less experienced.....
Don't worry that I will join yours because, although listed as senior member, I still consider myself a 'Noob".
Credit to Dr. P. whom I consider a "God of the Wizard Upgrading Forum", he always tries, although pissed of, to answer even the silly questions.

As you can see I'm a n00b but as I have both a Hermes, a Universal and a Wizard I tend to spend most of my time on the Universal forum checking back here on an infrequent basis and I have to say that the whining and whinging that goes on here is enough to put off anyone for life.
It seems to me that you (Molski, Dr Puttingham et al) all want the glory and adulation of being the "Gods of the Wizard" (WTF) so jump in with answers to any questions that are posted only to whinge and whine about it later. Easiest thing is don't do it, don't jump in with your smart-ass comments about how someone is too stupid to own a glorious Wizard (hey guys, reality check, it's just a freakin' phone!!!). Maybe the upgrades won't come as quick if you leave but do you really think that you're the only ones with the "gift". You might want to take a leaf out of the book of people like Pof, Memaich, LtCmdrIvan and the likes.

I don't think it's a matter of "the new guy" per se, I think it's a matter of having allowed this site's IQ to drop to half of what it was a year ago. I grant you, I'm tired of this constant, endless "HELP I BRICKED MY PHONE" bull**** too but that's only a part of it. You also have people like that asshat "__s" and the oh-so-moral-minority justifying their theft of Agile messager. They have plenty of experience flashing their phones but they're still dragging this site into oblivion and simply moving it isn't going to help. Years ago I ran a technical site (not about phones) and I ruled it with an iron fist and it worked out really well. Oh yeah, there would be the occasional hippie who would cry about "freedom of speech" and whatnot but I'm not the government, I don't give a damn about freedom of anything. If you showed up on my site with the intention of causing problems, you were gone, end of story. And THAT is what's REALLY needed, if you ask me. If you want to show up and ask how to CID unlock your phone, that's fine. If you learn and then turn around and help others, awesome! But if you show up knowing everything there is to know about PDA phones and use it to steal, insult, mislead, confuse and whatever else goes on around here, you and everything you've posted are gone. Instead of getting upset at the noobies, why no just place a passage at the start of every rom you post that "I will answer no questions about this rom unless it's a design flaw of some sort..."
Or "LISTEN YOUSE PEOPLE!!! IF YOU ASK SILLY QUESTIONS LIKE - SHOULD I UNLOCK MY PHONE - DO NOT USE THIS ROM AS YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! READ XDA FOR ABOUT A MONTH THEN COME BACK AND ASK QUESTIONS... I WILL NOT RESPOND TO SILLY QUESTIONS."

The problem is that all of this has been done. The true problem is that the noobs won't read they download the ROM's and then ask questions.

Then in that case, they deserve to have $400 bricks. Reading is fundamental [any one remember that commercial?]. I just joined the new forum... Since I've been here, I haven't installed a ROM unless I knew exactly what I was doing. No one to blame but myself if I messed things up...

If you in.ex brick your device, I undestand that you wanna fix it as fast as possible, and that you in panic post 100's of threads asking same question:
"I did this or that, blahblah, and my phone is dead/bricked/stuck in bootloader and so on,please help me im desperate...."
Not only do many post many threads in diffrent sections, they send several pm, and make contact on msn and mail.
DO NOT BEHAVE LIKE THAT, its damn annoying. I hate beeing contacted this way. I GET THE FRICKEN MESSAGE, and if I dont answer within a day or two then im not gonna answer. Its that easy.
So, please dont pm, msn, email or w/e to me if you have issues with bricking, flashing, soft reset, hard reset, where to find a fix to all the worlds problems and why you cant get it up......
I know I might sound like I need to calm down. But actually I am not "pissed off" I just dont have the time to help all with these issues, and when I say that word "all" I mean all, YOU included.
Im not answering anymore posts, pm, msn or email on theese issues, so dontwast your time.

This is funny, but then again it's not. This thread is definitely collecting views indeed. So Itje, your thoughts are indeed "felt" and "respected", by me and many others here. But those few anxious ones, I'm unsure as to why they post the same question(s) in different threads and forums. Laziness I suppose. I once was a junior noob, now I'm a senior noob helping others (as best as I can).
PS. Itje, you are a celebrity here, and those that constantly ask you for advice and complain, they are the paparazzi chasing you around. I'll be a bodyguard if you like, lol. I work in the justice system (in the states) so I know what it's like to have many people coming up to you asking for hookups, advice, and complain, and you are just trying to do what you enjoy with what you know. It's a headache and a half for sure.

No, but what Itje said is true. It does get annoying to be read messages or posts that deal with topics about their phones being bricked. Yes they're panicked, and yes they want to resolve the problem as soon as possible, but that's why we usualy posts warnings about flashing stuff to their phones. Realisticly, if you don't have the patience to do a search and look for answers, then you probabaly won't have the patience to follow the proper steps to flash a device, and that will result in a brick.

I am a Wizard owner. My sister has a Wing behaving badly. I came here to search a fix for her and stumbled upon your thread. PROPS TO YOU!!! I know the Wizard section is constantly mucked up with multiple threads, please help me....blah blah blah. I have taken to answering those threads with my new mantra:
DO NOT ATTEMPT ANYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE WITHOUT FIRST READING EVERY WIKI AND STICKY IN THIS SECTION (at least 3 times each!)...USE THE SEARCH BUTTON, READ PEOPLE'S SIGGY'S AS LINKS ARE OFTEN POSTED THERE TO HELP. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CUSTOMIZE AND/OR FIX YOUR DEVICE WITHOUT FIRST UNDERSTANDING YOUR DEVICE.
I am sure this often comes off as rude, but I feel your "pain" and found that sometimes a panicking noob needs this tough love, and will calm down, breathe, and discover the solution is right in front of them.
Again props to you for speaking your mind about this. And yes, this needs to be respected.

Yeah its pretty bad that people are just diving in without taking the time to understand what they are actually doing when they change the os on their phones. Ive bricked mine at least twice today, but I know how to fix it. Its really simple to fix half the problems that we have when we screw with our gear.
If it doesnt boot, or boot right. Hard reset.
That doesnt fix it. Boot loader. Set back to factory.
This stuff is really simple. Building Roms. Different story.

I think the mods should include a "search first" rule. If anyone posts something thats been discussed they should get a warning, and if it happens again, ban them. I've seen this on tons of forums that have this same problem and it works out quit well .

But if you READ READ READ you won't brick your device. There's always a risk, there's always the possibility, but I can't remember the last time I actually bricked ANY device! I'm not a huge fan of the current flashing method for these custom Wing ROMs - largely because the official RUU flasher is just... more reliable. But regardless, I've STILL not bricked my phone, because I FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.
I think that people get so excited and think it's EASY and ANYONE can do it. And they kill their systems. It's a similar situation with people who MOD their PS2 or Wii or DS or PSP, they routinely muck it up because they can't be arsed to go read the stickies and do some research before jumping in.

Modding your phone is much like sex. At first you are excited to get down and dirty so you dive right in and it often is disappointing (because you didn't know what you were doing-damn virgins), but as you do it more, you get better at it, and eventually you have moments when you go "damn I'm good"!!
The first time you mod your phone, you are excited and really likely to muck it up. But as you get to know your device, and experiment, you have those moments when you finish cooking a rom or something, and go..."damn I rock". But until you get to know the how's and why's, you will often be met with disappointments.

I have experienced growing tensions in this part of the forum for a while. People flaming each other here and there because of things that is best left ignored or easily solved. I'm not perfect but here's my way of thinking and I think this forum would thrive if all flamers would stick to it.
Be positive. Have a gentle mindset when it comes to reporting bugs/issues you might have. If someone tells you to search, try yourself, ask them for a search term or just explain what you searched for and how you could not find it. It someone asks you something, don't go hating on the person for asking a dumb question, you have the choice to either ignore or help. Flaming should not be an option. DO NOT FLAME AND USE DOWNGRADING WORDS, PLEASE.
Today, someone expressed their feelings about itje's Touch IT 9.0 ROM and this has led to Touch IT being a closed ROM only availible to those who is friends with itje or those who he chooses to take part of his release group. This could have easily been avoided if certain words hade not been put into use. Please, think for a second before posting you negative answers. It has effects on other cooks and forum members.

I am very new to this forum. This is only my second post. But i have been here for 1 month now and i agree with you.
I have been on many forums that has users who uses negative answers and forgive me if i sound little harsh to itje and all others who coock ROM's. But this is the internet. There will always be someone who don't like what you or me are doing.
Sure i would also be sad if too many say they don't like what i am doing but this would aspire me to do better.
If i could coock ROM's like you in this forum could then i would do so even if someone doesn't like it.
Sorry if someone doesn't like what i'm saying but i have been on many forums where people have left because someone doesn't like what they are doing.
And i don't understand that. I'm sorry but i don't.
That's all for me. Hope itje will release his ROM's to the public again becuase i like his work.

funny that! i have been saying this all along! look at my post in the old thread 'everyone is a cooking master these days'. now there is a thread that should never have been started but which highlighted they way things have gone on here! some people who have been on here longer than others for some reason class themselves as above others and feel they have the right to make assumptions about people by their posts!. some might have seen my post in the touch-it 9 thread re the sms issue that was plaguing latest rhodium manila. if ya look you will see fards response to me posting my issues in that thread! basically he assumed that he knew about who i was by that and told me that i needed to get married etc to understand how itje felt about people posting probs over and over again. now i got offended by that cause one he doesn't know me and 2 what gives him the right to address me like that! Exactly - choice. Many people choose to flame when the mature thing is to just help or ignore, or simply search or ask again nicely. I'm sorry I missunderstood you post as angry.
To further answer, what I suggest is that fards sold his X1 for a Touch HD, if it was because he was tired of the mood in this part of the forum or not I do not know. itje has chosen to not make his ROMs public and as a result of this I read that one person was planning on selling their X1. It all has a domino effect. If it is right of these persons to react like they do is debatable, but they are entitled to their own reaction. The thing is that I don't think that people are aware of the consequences of being rude.
That is why I started this thread - so that people can avoid to piss each other off and so that we can have a helpful and productive forum.

do you think that requesting donations has some part to play with the way people post? i think that no money is free and certain people donate and expect something in return! if they don't get that then they seem to get angry and it reflects in post! i am not saying that only people who donate do that in any way. i honestly think that donations should only go to the people who started this whole xda thing and keep it running! also the people who release the kitchens as they make rom building possible! i just feel that when you take from people even if its donated there is a certain amount of pressure and expectancy that comes with that! when it is not delivered the reaction can be severe thus the recent backlash in certain threads! only my opinion!

What about to set some report thing that would make like a % warn except it would say % flamer and than people would wach their reputation?
Also you could click report flame/spam post and if enough people would think it is spam it would tag the user and make that post fade.... (like on thottbot http://thottbot.com/i13262 you can see the good comments are yelow and comments with rating lower than 5 arent even shown (but you can change the treshold)
Maybe a filter "do not show post from users marked flamers more than 30 times"
This is a developers forum; I'm sure there is some folks who can write a thing or two to make the forums better
Just throwing ideas here, because I belive people can't change based on one post (specialy the flamers and spammers don't), so why not a more direct approach...

I Love the roms and support the likes of (but not limited to) ITJE and fards contribute to the forum, and respect the work that they do, as such i would never flame them, everyone should have this level f respect and in return the cooks and specialist should return the favor
this is why i have suggested in the past that cooks have read only release threads, this way, found faults, fixes updates etc can be kept together. a seperate thread can then be made to discuss faults.
I dunno just rambling now and adding no value, please ignore me

I think that made perfectly good sense man Thanks for understanding what I meant with this thread.

I dont know, but flaming goes both ways in this forum or any other forum as a matter of fact.
a. A newbie comes in and asks a question, some chefs flip out and be like read the bloody first page or other works I did in a not so mild manner. True I believe that they should have read the instructions on the first page in highlighted color, but no need to come off as an asshat towards anyone.
b. a newbie flashes their rom to one of the customs, I believe that the guy who flashed their rom have no right to be like this is **** i lost some of my features. That is a serious slap in the face for the chef who put in their hard work to create this rom. Remember chefs are doing this for us for free, we are not obligated to flash ... we flash by our own accord and have to agree to some sort of disclaimer about device performance when flashed. So if you flash, and have some issues, take a look at the first page for their bugs, if not do an in thread search for the exact same problem that you are having, chances are you would find the solution.
c. This one is a classic ... someone asks a question, quickly some guys reply, do a damn search, stating comments that people are idiots or something to the sort ... basically flaming the question poster hard making it seems that the question poster wasted this amount of time or bandwidth on their part. I swear some flamers are extremely melodramatic, waiting for every chance to get off on someone and secretly high five someone in their society.

bottom line is guys, chill out take it easy. this here isnt a life or death situation, you wont die if you do a quick search on something, nor you wont die if you just help someone in a polite manner or maybe just ignore them.

In the last 2 year as winmobile widely spreads up (because of carriers, mode, prettier devices and so on) this has become a 50% dev and 50% leech forum. 20% of leech are going to become future devs and want to "learn", the last 30% are only noobs who wants "free lunch" and pretend to be 100% assisted to make their device cooler. I often read "sorry but I can't read 50 pages of thread..." WHAT?!?!?!?! Someone has spent dozen of hours to cook a rom or develop a program and you deserves yourself the right to don't read?!?!!?

Has anyone got a 6.5 WM version for Touch Pro 2 whereby the video calling works, there is a xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, i wonder if their were some decent programmers with manners and with a version which works properly.

Wow - somebody's got an opinion!
Besides the chef in question, have you tried to work with the other chefs to see if they can accommodate your needs? I don't think starting a new thread is the best way to go at this, that's all I'm saying.

Well Mr. Allan Keston, allow me please, to tell you a sort of story.
I've paid (and I think you too) a lot of money for my TP2 and when I've asked for support from HTC I was treated with... nothing but silence.
I've paid nothing (and I think you too) for all the customized ROMs I used until now - and we don't speak about the donations here, nobody put the hand in your pocket - and every time I've asked for something or I've noticed something, an answer comes up.
And as far as I know there is no chef here having any obligations regarding me and my demands.
But they answer... Maybe not every time the answer pleased me, but hey, the life is like it is!
And after all, NOBODY forced me (and I think you too) to use his/her modded ROM.
They are "playing" with the ROMs, made them as they like and let us use it if WE WANT to.
So, no obligations... Both sides...
Everybody have nothing to gain from strong words here. We are coming in this community if we want to give something or to take what others are giving. Not to see whose muscles are stronger.

The words "pot", "kettle" and "black" come to mind there, Although you will probably have no idea what that meant as its part of a old English saying.
Basically it means you are accusing others of doing the same thing you have been doing for a while now.

Please read the thread rules (in sticky topic). Although it would seem logical to post that here, It would lead to all sorts of people posting random stuff if Q's was allowed which would then flood forum and keeping eye on latest releases would be a pain in the arse.
IMO we should have a dedicated Development chat/Q&A forum so that all non-release dev topic would have a place because at the moment there is a hole that isnt been filled and people have no where to ask such specific questions. The normal Q&A just isnt really the place to ask dev questions.

I only quote you and speak about your bad English when you quote somebody else or take what somebody said out of context which you have done on many occasions.
On this occasion I referred to a English phrase "Pot calling kettle black" because you was accusing others what you do you self, Now If I had just said that phrase on its own, majority of other people would have known what I was talking about but you wouldn't so I also made a note about your English and gave you an explanation, What I said was said in jest/banter I was not been an arsehole, If you feel otherwise or cant accept that I dont give a sh*t go have a cry in the corner.
