I have a Vodafone VPA Compact II (HTC Wizard) in German.
I will relocate to USA and I want to update my phone OS etc. into English (Cingular ROM).
I know that I have to first unlock my phone and I used both Lokiwiz02b and aWizard 1.3 beta 2 in order to unlock my phone. And these programs let me know that my phone is unlocked.
"Your phone is now unlocked...."
I have tried both "U. Unlock" and "C. CID Unlock (SuperCID)".
Than I have tried to install Cingular ROM "RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe" but I still get error msg 294.
Than I tried other Cingular file "Cingular_Custom_AKU2.3_Combo_Installer_V1.exe" and it was installed without any problem. But I have still German in my phone. As I understand this file installs only Extended ROM of Cingular.
Now I need to install an English ROM and when possible a Cingular one.
Any tip?

I have found a solution.
Lokiwiz02b does not work for AKU2 ROMs. I've just downgraded my ROM into an older version and than applied Lokiwiz02b CID unlock with success.
Than I upgraded my ROM into new Cingular 8125 one and works great!

I have a QTEK 9100 and it only takes a couple of the QTEK RUU updates and only a couple of the I-Mate K-JAM RUU updates. Most importantly it will NOT update to the latest QTEK 9100 RUU rom nor will it not update to the latest K-JAM RUU rom either. I prefer to have the latest K-JAM rom as that is what I have in my other MDA VARIO and it's great!
Now the error I receive is Invalid Vender (vendor?) ID... I HAVE unlocked the phone (both SIM unlock AND CID unlock)... I have CID unlocked it with both aWizard AND lokiwiz and I have also installed the EnableRAPI thing.
I have done everything I have found on these greate boards here at XDA-Developers and I have found nothing to fix this problem. I am able to use custom roms as well. But I can't use the K-JAM one. ALWAYS error 294 invalid vender id.
Does anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I can suggest is that the CID unlock didn't work fully. It's worth checking the text as the lokiwiz runs to make sure the CID unlock actually goes through - see various posts under the lokiwiz thread on the general wizrd forum for information. dropping back to the QTEK Custom ROM and then running the lokiwiz has been a solution.
still no luck
At the moment I managed to put a different custom rom on there (button's custom) and even after doin the lokiwiz unlock and then attempting to put the latest imate rom still have no luck, still the same error: Invalid Vendor ID. Also i think i tried the same with the original qtek rom as suggested and had no luck... maybe someone could point me to the custom original qtek rom that would fix my problem? Maybe i used the wrong one?

I tried the custom rom you suggested and THEN unlocked the device again, also did enableRapi, then attempted the latest Imat K-Jam rom update and it failed with error 294 invalid vender (vendor?) id... with the red green blue screen on the QTEK 9100... For additional info it displays IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.0.1.0000
Please let me know if you have any more ideas on how to update my QTEK9100 to the latest I-Mate K-Jam rom successfully. Also, for some reason one of the older I-Mate roms updated successfully, but the latest one doesnt.

I had the same trouble. Try this:
Load the custom rom that JoninLA suggests.
Then unlock the CID using aWizard.
Then load the original Imate KJAM ROM from the ftp site
Then load the AKU2 Imate KJAM ROM
That should work.
Should I CID unloack with aWizard in between all these updates? I would think so right?

I did as jasoncheesemanuk suggested... with the custom rom on there i UNLOCKED CID, then upgraded to original IMATE rom, then attempted to upgrade to latest IMATE rom (without unlocking again) and i got the same problem: error 294 Invalid Vender ID
Please help, is there a solution out there? Why is this QTEK 9100 so stupborn?

I recently purchased a Cingular 8125 and am waiting for it to show up in the mail. I am a T-Mobile subscriber and plan on unlocking the 8125 as soon as I get it so I can use it with the T-Mobile network, after performing a ROM upgrade.
My question is this: I'm assuming that since it is a Cingular phone, it's going to be pre-loaded with Cingular crap. Not that the T-Mobile crap is any better, but is there a way to install the T-Mobile (or generic/unbranded, like Qtek or I-Mate) ROM onto the 8125?
I mean, the MDA and 8125 are both HTC Wizards, and the hardware is the same, right? The button layout is just different? Would the T-Mobile ROM work on the 8125? Or even better, is there a generic non-branded ROM that I could install on the 8125?

run the downloaded file, follow upgrade instructions on screen.

I downloaded the one that was in these forums, but it doesn't have any of the tools needed. Lokiwiz 0.3a has them, but it's missing "pdocwrite.exe" and "preboot.exe"...

Since 2 days I'm surfing on the forums and triying to find a solution for my non working Qtek 9100.
The bootloader can still work but when I try to install any Qtek rom (already tried every released ROM) my Qtek holds on the splash screen.

If your phone has not been CID unlocked (you can cid unlock only if you have a 1.xx rom) then the only roms you can install are Qtek roms WITH A GREATER VERSION NUMBER AND IN THE SAME LANGUAGE OF THE ONE CURRENTLY INSTALLED.
This means that if you have a german qtek rom, say ver. 2.01, then you can only install a german qtek rom version 2.02 or greater. Other languages roms, even if from qtek, cannot be installed.
Of course there are ways to circumvent this limit but before i go on explaining, it would be useful if you could provide more information:
- rom version
- IPL/SPL version (softreset to know)
- CID locked??? (did you use lokiwiz or awizard???)

I have a problem changing the rom of my dutch tmobile to the either tmobile UK version or Qtek. Worked fine on my old vario but this one seems to have the AKU2 if i am not wrong.
How can i check if i have AKU2 and or G3 or G4?

My boss has just bought a Wizard branded as a Grundig GR660 by Movistar, and he wants it in English, I've read all about the bootloader problem with 2.21.0001, it has Rom version 2.22.5.2ESN. If I try the downgrade i get a error 300 message.
Is there ANY way i can change the language to English????

I have the same G4 device as well, there is no need for CID unlock to upgrade the phone to 2.xx rom (any languages) version. However, you might need to sim unlock the phone using Lokiwiz03a though.
