This is my first cooked ROM, will be compatible with G4 wizard device as it doesn't contain SPL and IPL part, as long as you have SPL 2.xx and IPL 2.xx, then you'll be ok. This is an operator independent Rom also.

I have already installed 5 "heavy" programs, apart from the ones from extended rom, but it still run very smoothly. Battery life seems to be better as well, used internet for about 15 minutes through WiFi but still %100 battery remaining (after a full charge). However, I will see how it goes later on.

What is the program?
I did not find it somewhere else
I have been using this ROM for about a week and it is stable, fast and leaves about 21mb of RAM after a soft reset.
WLove - as in my thread, i hope you cook a AKU 3.2 based ROM as yours is the best so far on my device.
Wlove,
i'm downloading your rom now and will tell how good it was. now i used the Moski's rom. i like to test with a different version.
W Love,
already install ur rom, but can't find the mereleave program, and tested with NR deluxe software, it worked but in a disappointed distance just only 5cm, i don't know i do the configuration wrong or something else!!!

noob question regarding this rom
i have the original 2.26 t-mobile rom. would i need to cid and sim unlock my mda first before attempting to flash it with this rom?
Ok, so what is wrong with my Extended Rom
I just flashed to your rom (G4 8125) and all seemed to flash ok, but I didn't get the extended rom. This happened to me with 2 other roms, shogunmarks, and molskis. WTF, what am I doing wrong ?

Hello everyone im new to the forum, i have a t mobile vario, i have managed to unlock it curtusy of lokiwiz unlock 0.2a. i have a few questions if someone could help me on
1. on the unlocker software there is a option of CID unlocking, what is this?
2. is there any differences between the different variations of the wizard, 02 mini, tmobile vario, kjam, qtek.... which has the better firmware??
3. can i put either kjam or qtek firmware on my vario?
Many thanks peeps
Speaking as an MDA Vario owner who has reflashed with the k-jam ROM (and now can't go back!) I would say the only benefit of changing ROM is to enable 802.11g network access, which T-Mobile disabled in software.
There appear to be no other benefits. On the downside there are features that come with the Vario that do not work with the k-jam ROM. e.g. the email setup wizard does not work. Hardly a showstopper but an example. There is also an error message on resetting about elatepushservices.exe not found or not signed. Again, it doesn't seem to cause a problem but why klutz your machine up without a good reason to do so? The version numbers of everything that comes with the Vario also seem to be higher than the k-jam ROM, which I'm guessing is a good thing.
Unless you simply must have 802.11g connectivity, as well as 802.11b, my recommendation would be to leave well alone. It will also make warranty support much easier.
oh ok so is that the only major difference then. i find my vario isn't that stable. my device currently reads
rom version 1.3.2.2 enu
rom date 9/25/05
radio version 01.04.10
protocol version 4.0.13.17
extrom version 1.3.2.102
did u use ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/ for your firmware?

I did use the clubimate ftp ROM and my equivalent figures, with the Vario extended ROM remaining, are....
rom version 1.1.9.3
rom date 9/16/05
radio version 01.01.10
protocol version 4.0.13.16
extrom version 1.3.2.102
so all my version numbers are lower than yours excep the extended ROM, which I saved from my Vario.
I don't recall the Vario ROM being less stable than the k-jam but you need to be very careful what software you install as there is a lot of stuff that is not 100% WM5 compatible. It might install and it might run but it might also crash or destabilise your machine. I have only installed the T-Nobile supplied GPRS monitor, Total Commander, TomTom 5.21 and a couple of GPS utilities and that's it.
As soon as you start throwing in today plugins and other system utilities that are less than 100% WM5 compatible you are asking for trouble, IMHO.
Hi there,
I just looked on the FTP, but is there any Dutch K-Jam/Qtek 9100 ROM available for the MDA Vario?
Thanks!!

Just check the XDA-Dev. FTP site.
There you can find the Dutch rom which greddy pointed out.
ftp.xda-developers.com
user = xda
pass = xda
hmmm by the looks of it i might hold out until theres some newer rom updates with significant improvements. at the mo it looks like theres only a few tweeks and i dont wana risk bricking my vario.
t mobile released updates for the mda compact and mda II http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/mdas.html
maybe they'll release some for the vario???
For us we own an english version of Qtek 9100 in which site we'll find the future ROM Updates?
have you tried xda developers ftp site? ftp://xda-developers.com/ or dont qtek have a support area?
Hi there,
Thanks, I didn't see that.
A few questions:
1. HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD THE FILE?? I can access the FTP-server, but when I try to download the Rom, the file stops downloading after apx. 20 - 40%, whichafter I even have to reset my router to get the internet working again. I used both the FTP Explorer and the Internet Explorer.
2. Should I also upgrade the Extended Rom? I want to get rid of these ugly, squared, pink and grey T-Mobile phonepad keys, so is this stored in the Extended Rom?
Which Extended Rom should I use? There are more of them, so which one is for use with the Dutch Qtek 9100 Rom?
Thanks again!!!

If you ae comfortable doing this, could you perhaps make a backup of your t-mobile rom. I downgraded to the k-jams rom without doing a backup...silly me, anyway would be grateful if someone would pop a copy on the ftp here.

Jim
I also done exactly the same, i didn't have a miniSD card, an i was too eager to upgrade so i couldn't backup my rom.
Now i wanna go back to the T-Mobile rom but no one has one on the FTP. would you be able to upload yours?
It would be very much appreciated by a lot of people here.
Cheers
i dont mind creating a back up of my rom, if someone can point me to how i can do this.
i to want to get rid of the rubbish pink phone pad, it looks ugly
jay - are you using ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/ or ftp://xda-developers.com/ ? it should work, unless your connection keeps dropping?
Need to refresh my memory on the back up procedure... get back to you on that later.
Regarding the pink key pad, a bit of registry hacking should sort that out
If you have a registry editor, follow the below, worked fine on Compact II but never got to test it on the vario before the downgrade
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin
Properties
Dword- Enabled
Value - 0 (default HTC skin - cool blue)
if you change the value to 1 it then displays the T-mobile's wonderful pink and grey pad.
Save the changes and they do a soft reset
Hope that helps

Yes, i've tried in the FTP site. But in there the roms are backed up from other devices and not directly from Qtek support. First, I would like know if there is problem or there are any diferrences between roms backed up from devices and the other from official support.
In the end, i'm asking if there is a link for official Qtek support where we can find the future rom updates.
There is a nice pdf guide on backing up your ROM here you need to do procedure 'r2sd all' as opposed to 'd2s' as suggested as that guide was for the magician.

Hi,
I own a T-Mobile MDA Vario, too. It is already flashed with a WWE-KJam-ROM. Now I want to know, if there is a possibility to flash a German ROM to it. Or if there is a newer version of the KJam.
My device informations:
ROM version : 1.1.9.3

t mobile english version
hi to everyone
I have a mda vario with t mobile deutch and I'd like to know if it is possible to flash the rom into english t mobile rom or an other english rom. If possible could u gently explain me how to do?
many thanks
here are so many people with a German MDA Vario.
Isn´t it possible, that one of them reads out the original ROM and set´s it to the ftp so that others, that want a German ROM can flash this?
I am not a professional in this, so correct me if that is not possible...
Micha
Hardylane has uploaded on the FTP what appears to be T-Mobile UK's new ROM for the Wizard:
T-Mobile MDA Vario (on AKU2)
ROM: 2.21.2.6 WWE
ROM date: 3/9/06
Radio ROM: 02.19.11
Extended ROM: 2.21.2.109
Can anybody post detailed instructions to install the new ROM on our Varios? there is no installer, so I don't know what to do with the uploaded file.
The thread is there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53816
Cheers
Here are some problems you can expect to face going this route.
First, you will need to upgrade your devices to 2.x IPL/SPL (bootloader)
Second, aWizard doesn't work with 2.x boatloaders for write operations such as putting Roms onto the phone.
Third, in order to use a RUU (Rom Upgrade Utility) you need .nb files which can be packed into "nk.nbf"
Has anyone checked with T-Mobile to see if they have released a RUU package with this version of the Rom?
Even better, is it AKU 2.0, AKU 2.2 or AKU 2.3?
thanks for your thoughts.
The uploaded ROM comes from a recently sold Wizard. Is there anything hardylane can do to make the new ROM more easily transferred onto existing Wizards?
First, to see if it is worth the trouble, have her check the AKU version.
Start > Settings > System > About, look on the second line "OS 5.1.195( Build 14955.2.3.0)" is how mine reads. This important numbers are the .2.3.0, what does she see?
.2.0.0 is AKU 2.0
.2.2.0 is AKU 2.2
.2.3.0 is AKU 2.3
Unless it is AKU 2.3 I wouldn't get too excited about it. There are several AKU 2.3 Roms posted on the FTP which are based of a test (but stable) T-Mobile US Rom. I would recommend you guys go for the "Mr. Clean" Rom. Then find the forum that has custom splash screens & extended roms for each carrier.
This will get you to AKU 2.3 (the latest). It might be a good idea to get the official Extended Rom which I see is included the the uploaded file. I'm sure the OP in the Splash screen thread would be happy to give you guys a RUU with it.
kyphur,
For me, it's definatly worth the hassle... i've had the Qtek 'test only' update for a while now, which has enabled me to use push email, but T-Mobile UK have been dragging their heels on releasing the official UK rom update.
The owner of this Wizard has posted the official UK T-Mo rom which was ripped off his phone.
I have the nb files, i'm not sure how to update the phone using these however.
Hoping someone has the answer

they're nba files.
The link to the files is this:

nba :S
my bad
I am looking into this, but I do need a good dump of the Radio Rom if possible.
Here are the pitfalls:
There are issues with aWizard and 2.x Bootloaders so we might have to use a known good European Radio Rom like 2.17/2.21 if we can't get the Radio Rom to dump.
We will also need to flash a 2.x Bootloader. Again I can graft the 2.17 or 2.21 bootloader from another RUU Package.
Finally, are you guys CID unlocked? I can build a ROM with the T-Mobile CID (WIZTMO04) But I don't know that there is a RUU exe that will work with a 2.x rom using that CID.
Re:
Uploading..... (please wait.)

Same problem here...
Sorry guys, I can't be any more help than I did. I just ripped out the Roms and posted them!
I also uploaded the AKU2 instruction book (scanned PDF)
The ROM is definately AKU2 only. Build is 14847.2.0.0
The only advantage this has is that it's a pukka UK T-Mobile ROM
does this rom have GOOD reception? if so can someone extract the RADIO ROM?
Someone is deleting things from uploads again, which is irritating the crap out of me.
has anyone else got the new t-mobile uk rom for the wizard?
summiter it looks like the nba files and ext rom have already been moved from the uploads directory to the Wizard Roms/Radio Roms/Ext Roms directorys.
What this means is that we've now got AKU2 ext Roms cabs which can be used with the Mr Clean install ... ie a UK customised version of AKU2.3 Anyone of your rom rolling experts care to put that into an installer
If this was done would the phone need to be CID unlocked ?
I am currently using the 2.25.11.1 WWE Cingular ROM from HTC (with Cing service) on my unlocked MDA. I have tried other ROMs (including the 2.3 ROM) but the 2.25 seems to be the best at re-aquiring a signal after loosing it for a long time (I work in a building without signal). I would like to try the 2.26 ROM from T-mobile, but I hate the color scheme and other customizations. Is their an easy way to get the Cing customizations and the T-mo ROM? I have read others ask for one of the whiz kids in this forum to cook a ROM with this recipe.
I know how to not install the customizations (reboot during the 3 sec countdown), but I am not sure how to get the Cing customizations loaded. If nobody wants to cook a ROM, can someone provide me instructions on loading a Cing extended ROM? Thanks in advance.
I'm using the new TM 2.26 and I had / have your same requests. I love the sumitter Cingular 2.25 and also the special ROM that faria made for me but I'm happier with this one.
I installed the ROM and bypassed the Extended Rom installation as you mentioned. I haven't created a custom ROM as of yet, one day! One thing that has helped me is doing full installations of all the published ROM's here starting with 1.05. I then extracted the contents of the Extended Roms with Total Commander. ( I keep all these cabs on my Storage Card)
With this particular ROM I'm happy with the following (and bear in mind I'm a simple man with simple needs ..)
Cingular Connection Wizard cab is included below.
I also use both of molski's registry cabs at Molski.nL Customizing Tweaks and also at Molski.nL Performance Registry Tweaks
I'm also kinda partial to Dr.Shultz's contribution to the Eten dialskins at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48325&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=150
Add Microsoft Voice Command with a few other goodies and you've got a bad ass phone IMO ...
Actually I forgot Smartskey at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060
And also wclose is very nice to put in your windows directory and then copy a shortcut to your windows\startup directory.
In addition you might want to add faria's alternative extended_rom+splash screens for summiter ROMhere/ to change that T-Mobile splash screen...
New as of 8-18-2006
Took the time and found the Cingular Connection Wizard cab from the latest Cingular ROM. (I just LOVE installing ROM's to copy off the extended_rom directory ... ) I like it better as it doesn't have the proxy settings, etc..
Wow I put so much time into that reply and no one had anything to say ...
I'll try harder next time!
Thanks
Steve,
That was real informative. Like you I love sumitter’s ROMs but have not seen him post in a month or so. I am going to try this this weekend when I return home from the road.

Hope it helps someone!
Which ROM(s) can boot as quick as 2.25 and is the most stable? I am using 2.25 and don't like it because of the dropped calls issue. I've used 2.17 but the reboot times are attrocius.

I've been using Gamescan's Mr. Clean AKU 2.3 for a couple months now on an 8125 using TMO. It's very stabe, has excellent reception, and is very fast.
At first one finds a shorter battery life. However, after a week or so, the battery life seems to get back to normal.
I have had the least issues with this ROM. I never have to soft reset.
molski how to enter your site?
I know it's a dummy question, but I can see only homepage - no option to proceed (IE & Firefox checked)
In the left frame (under the logo) you should see a Java Pulldown Menu. There you can navigate on my website.
If it doesn't work here are 2 links directly to the Rom Files
2.26.10.2 Dutch Rom
2.26.10.2 WWE Rom
Regards,
Molski
p.s. All my websites work in IE and FF on my laptop
Maybe it's a MS Java issue, it doesn't like original Sun's release (I've got both on my PC)
Thank you very much for the links :!:
My website should work with the Sun Java Packages. I also use Sun Java instead of MS Java.
But for now you got 2 direct links to the files you want
Molski
I have installed Molski's ROM into my Vodafone VPA Comtact II and I think it is the best one that I have ever seen until now.
Thanks guy!
Qtek or one of the other brand's?
Hi
Did you changed the T-mobile to Qtek branding on this Rom?
All the programs on the Qtek original Rom are available on this one?
Do you notice any Speed increase running programs like Igo or Tom tom, in my standard Qtek Rom 2.17 the GPS programs seem a bit slow.

it's WWE,World Wide English.
vilem great find!
does the upgrade to 3.08 make a difference compared to the 2.26 that comes from US T-mobile? this wouldn't effect the usability of the custom roms, since they only update the OS and not the IPL/SPL/RADIO, right?

IPL/SPL update is not that important, but the ROM is a T-Mobile.
This one update to
IPL/SPL 3.08
Radio 2.69
AKU 3.3
...........
It's English...I've flashed it.
Any thoughts on the rom? How stable is it? Free memory etc. Thanx in advance.
-It's stable ,fast and add HTC X Button,Streaming Media,SoftKey and remove t-zones,hotspot.Storage:47.46M free 40.02,Program :44.01,free:19.90.
such a nice rom, so less reply, why?
I flashed this rom to my Qtek9100, it works very smoothly so far, why so less reply to this rom? you guys all flashed to WM6 already?
I flashed this as my base for a WM6 rom. I downloaded it last week. It was linked in the German AKU 3.3 tmobile thread.

I tried it for a little bit, it's stable but tends to be slow, I can't run everything I want without resources getting dangerously low. So, I use it as a base ROM. I also tried a number of WM6 ROMs, but I can't live with the missed call issue with any radio ROM above 2.19. So I use Faria's WM5 3.3. It's the most stable and fast WM5 ROM I've found.
i only ended up flashing this as a base rom to go back to before flashing to a custom rom. took the spl/ipl and the radio, since it was official t-mobile and flashed straight to xm6. the rom seemed to look nicer, lotsa new programs, relatively stable...everything wasn't in english for the wwe...didn't know what studeni meant (it was in the calendar part).
anyway, overall, a good rom to flash back to, rather than constantly going back to the us t-mobile 2.26
I installed this ROM earlier today - seems to be okay, but a call did go straight to voicemail earlier - I was watching the phone and there was no indication of a call at all! I may possibly downgrade the Radio ROM to 2.25 later.
I previously had the official TMobile (USA) 2.26 ROM installed on my MDA and loved the blue dialer. This one appears to be white with pink buttons. Can someone please tell me how to get the blue one back?
Also, how easy would it be to install the Comm Manager from the 2.26 ROM?
Many Thanks!
Loaded this one this morning.
Took a lot of tweaking to get all of the normal MDA tweaks on.
Also lots of extra mods to get rid of/change the Croatian config to US.
Ran into a major show stopper this afternoon. Tried to change sort on 800+ contacts from by name to by company. MDA pretty much just locked up. Could not scroll. Could not select by letter. Had to soft reset to un-freeze.
Also, no HTML e-mail. Old MS Office.
As soon as I get time, will be trying some other version of WM6. Maybe time for Faria's!
Checked About in settings last night.
This release is WM5. Argh!
I flashed last week.But it drain battery.So i come back 2.26 USA T-Mobile ROM.
Battery Drain
I did notice the battery drain with the 2.69 radio, but I flashed back to the 2.40 radio that has been working so well for me and the battery drain is back to the rate it was when I had the 2.26 rom with 2.40 radio on it.
As for the dialer.... try the operator skin registry edit below....
Remove operator skin from Phone app
If your device's Phone app is skinned, you can remove by setting:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Similarly, you can restore it with:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 1 (DWORD decimal)
Found it in the wiki.
