I have tried for weeks now to get my imate pda2k into bootloader mode but it will not. Just goes to the stripes and the to wm5. any Ideas?
Yes I do know what to push to get it there but no joy
silly question but when you presso the power button + camera and then you press the soft reset button with the stylus, do you keep pressing wth the stylus for a moment?
i have to wait some 3 seconds before i go into bootloader mode
no bootloader mode
Yes tried that, and all other combinations that I can think of. It just goes to the Stripe color screen then shows at the bottom the rom, radio, etc then the WM5 screen.
Test camera button
Yous hould hold the three buttons for a while, but if you have problem with one of them it is not possible to do hard reset
I think you shold hard reset your BA first before you next try
good luck
tried all of above
Yes tried all of your suggestions, I guess must be a button problem (power button I think) Altho its the same as when I get it to upgrade to WM5. But now, You know when you press power rs and camera/record? and the the envelope key to get the no yes yes screen? as soon as I take my fingers off the keys, its gone, doesnt stay there like b4 till options are changed. They r all set to default of no. How do u check to see if the bootloader software is on the pda?
Press record (button above slider) + power button + SR at bottom.
Then you are in bootloader.

You can actually test without guessing if the power button is working: press & does the device turn on/off? Try (not guess) the other buttons as well.
Without being rude, do a sanity check. disregard all your assumptions that you are doing things right & follow the procedure as below (taken from the Wiki pages):
-------------------------------------
Put your device into bootloader mode:
* Press Power + record (above the volume slider) + softreset at the same time. You should see a white screen with "Serial" text on it and the Bootloader version.
-------------------------------------
Hardreset based on Screen Information
* Press Power + Softreset, and when the colored stripes shows on the screen.
If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc.
* Quickly press Record+Camera before the versions appears at bottom right or,
* press Power+Softreset+Camera+Record at the same time.
If you have a PH20B1 device such as SX66
Quickly press Record+Windows Media before the versions appears at bottom right or,
* press Power+Softreset+Windows Media Player button+Record at the same time.
Either way mentioned above should work.
You'll see three options; change the second and the third to "yes".
Cheers!

HTC Mteor hangs at a screen with inscription "Windows mobile" and doesn't boot. So I can't use utility for hard reset.
You can try pressing the 2 soft-keys at the same time as you press (and hold) the power key. That will bring you to a screen asking if you want to restore or quit.
I hope it works for you!
I'd guess you would have to try reflashing the rom.
It helped me without reflashing. Does this combination of buttons work at HTC S310? I've the same problem with this device as I had with my Mteor. I've installed software there which was not designed for these smartphones.
Is that the same 2 keys to get to the bootloader?
No, electronic punk.
For the bootloader, you press the camera button and the power button at the same time.
I am saying press the left + right softkeys (the ones just under the screen, with the joystick in the middle) and the power button at the same time.

its works thanks !
you have to
- switch off device
- push L+R softkeys and keep pushed while next step
- then turn on (short push power is ok - like you are used to do it), keep L+R pushed
It works for every device I had so far (see signature) that has keys.
Mind that Hardreset deletes all data on the device!
Hi guyz,
big problem with my Wings...
I've tried to install SPB Traveller, discovering that doesn't work (was the version for pda).
Then i've disinstalled it and, immediately after, i have no more possibility to press buttons. Only once.
To be more precise...
Switch off the phone removing battery, switch it on again, enetr the pin correctly and, after WM6 screenshot, i'm able to press buttons only once. Not depending from the button...i can pres Start or Contacts, doesn't matter.
After pressing once there's no evidence to have any other button depressed.
I would like to hard reset the phone but, hao can i do if i cannot press any button??
Which is right procedure for hard reset the S730??
There is some shortcut in way not to enter into WM6??
Thanks a lot.
With the phone off, press both softkeys (the ones right under the screen) and then press the power button to turn it on. After a second or so (basically when it starts booting up) release only the power button, but keep the other two pressed.
After a moment you should see a screen asking you if you want to hard reset (you may release the buttons now), press the Send buttont (the green one) and it'll do it.
Soft keys should be "Start" and "Contacts"...i suppose.
I tried many times, releasing Power button keeping softkeys still pressed, immediately after Smart Mobility screenshot....after displaying of radio version, rom version, etc etc.....but it doesn't work.
I think i'm wrong in some passage. Sure that this process works on S730??
Could you be more clear about it, please?
Which boot i have to take care of? Initial settings (radio, rom, etc etc) or Windows Mobile?
Many thanks.
Yep, those are the buttons. And this procedure does work on the S730, as I had to use it once to restore my phone.
The only advise that comes to my mind is to keep the power button pressed a little bit longer than usual, I believe that's what I did.
hi, please! need help... after I've flash the
Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2 on my G3 device the rom is very slowly and my PC doesn't recognized my wizard when it connected with the USB cable.
any solution how can I change this rom?
many thanks
i can go to the tri-color bootloader mode, is it say somthing?
mine did that yesterday....maybe try a hard reset:
Hold down the Comm Manager button(top left) and Voice Command button(top right) buttons while performing a soft-reset (depress the reset button using the stylus); after you depress the soft-reset button, [contintue to hold the two side buttons] hold down the navigation pad for ~4 seconds until you are prompted on screen [you can release the side buttons now]. Press the Send (Talk) button (i.e. the left telephony button) - or whichever button your system prompts you for.
That's what I did and it worked for me =)
thanks but it doesn't work, the main problem is that after the hard reset the rom is very very slowly (like 7-8 seconds from the moment you tap the "start" till the start menu come)
the PC doesn't recognized my wizard so i can't change to another rom....
I can get into the tri-color mode, does it say that maybe it's not bricked?
Hi!
I've tried to HardSPL my X1i and everything seems to work fine:
- The tri-colour screen appeared
- the loadbaar appeared (but switches in 20secs from 0% to 100%)
and the Wizard said "Congratulations...." - X1 reboots.
but when I want to check if the bootloader works fine I couldn't come into the tri-colourscreen by holding the volumedown button and switching the X1 on.
Even if I want to HardSPL my X1 again, the Wizard says that I have the old Image Version: 1.03.932.6 ...
Does anybody know how to fix this? This would be really great.
Perhaps it doesn't work because I have no microSD-card....?
Many thanks and sorry for my bad englisch
Greets pino
have you kept the down volume button and the power button pressed until you see the tri color screen?
you have to keep them pressed until the tri thingy appears, or else all you are doing is turning on the device

try to push the camera + power button... that works fine for me! And even if u can't check try to flash a customized rom you can't brick your device by doing that - the only thing you will get is an error and maybe then you have to flash an original rom...
In this guide i am going to explain you how to install a custom ROM using phone.
You need PC just to copy ROM on memory card, nothing more, nothing less.
First thing you need to do, is to check do you have Hard-SPL installed on your XPeria X1, follow next two steps to check that.
1. Turn off you phone.
2. Hold volume down button and PRESS AND HOLD POWER BUTTON, hold these two buttons pressed until three-colored screen shows up.
If in top left corner of the screen shows
"SPL-0.72.OliNex" (or what version you have)
That's important, if that is not shown, DO NOT CONTINUE!
POWER button will not work, so remove cover and battery, and put it back on.
Install ROM :
1. Power on phone
2. Connect your XPeria X1 to PC in Disk Drive mode.
3. Transfer the custom ROM you want to install on ROOT of memory card and make sure that it's named "kovsimg.nbh" (Sometimes when you download custom ROM, there will be several files in that ZIP/RAR you downloaded, but you only need ".nbh" file, and if that ".nbh" file is named "ruu_signed.nbh" rename it to "kovsimg.nbh")
4. Disconnect phone from USB, and shutdown phone.
5. Hold volume down button and PRESS AND HOLD POWER BUTTON, hold these two buttons pressed until three-colored screen shows up.
6. Three-colored screen will stays for one or two second, and then there will be a message on screen
"KOVSIMG.nbh - "
"OS - "
"Press the power button to start the update image"
"Press Action button to cancel update image"
PRESS POWER BUTTON, and installation begins.
7. When it reaches 100% it will say "UPDATE SUCCESSFULL". Again, POWER BUTTON will not work, so remove cover and battery, and put it back on, but don't power on phone.
8. (IMPORTANT) I strongly reccomend to HARD RESET PHONE BUT BEFORE YOU EVER BOOT IT!
9. Hard Reset - (Phone is off) Press two buttons below screen (left and right) and hold it, and press the power button UNTIL VIBRATE, then release the power button, BUT STILL HOLD TWO BUTTONS BELLOW THE SCREEN (IMPORTANT)
10. It's shown "This operation will delete all your personal data and reset all the settings to the manufacturer default settings, press "R" to restore manufacturer defaults or press "X" to cancel." Slide keyboard and press "R" wait for a few seconds, and it will show "Restore completed press Space to restart" so press space and slide in keyboard.
You have successfully installed your first custom ROM, now align screen and set date & time, and that's it. First time, it will take three to four minutes to boot, that's called "Cold Boot"
another great thread
"9. Hard Reset - (Phone is off) Press two buttons below screen (left and right) and hold it, and press the power button UNTIL VIBRATE, then release the power button, BUT STILL HOLD TWO BUTTONS BELLOW THE SCREEN (IMPORTANT)"
this step is extremely important. i messed up the first time and my phone was noticably slow lol.

Thank you again yeaah, i messed up the first time also, becase it wasn't explaint very well
I have to say I liked the "Task 29" thread better. A lot of information here is redundant. In principle both threads describe the same process (SD card flashing).
Only this one is Task 29 short (which suposedly is important in flashing).
I expected this thread to describe the USB flashing method, which is in fact different. But it's more-or-less the same really... with more detailed naming descriptions... but minus Task 29.
The other thread has the potential to be a complete guide to SD flashing. Only steps missing is Hard-SPL - if it hasn't been done already. This one - less so.

Okay, there is maybe redundant information, but i wanted to people know what exactly will phone show, and exactly what to do! Little more information won't harm, but a half-explained instruction may lead to some errors...
problems after installing custom rom on htc dsire
Hi there Description: I’m even scared to write… Description:
Newbie Noobie here. Greetings!
Got myself a birthday present a few days ago – HTC Desire.
If it helps, here are the details:
======
Firmware version: 2.2
i rooted my phone and then followed the steps to install custom rom
Anyway, here’s my problem (there were posts about it before as well).
Once I reach point 5 in Step 2 [i.e. Turn off your phone & turn it back on holding POWER + VOL DOWN then use vol up/down to scroll down to ‘Recovery‘ and power to select.] after I click ‘Recovery’ my screen either stays white with the green HTC logo or just goes black – in either case, that’s it… nothing happens and no buttons work.
The first time it happened I almost got a heart attack (well, which noobie didn’t?) because I thought I’d just bricked my baby… Right now it is still the only way for me to do ANYthing after getting the black screen…
Any suggestions/help will be more than welcome! Thanks in advance!!!
(And sorry for the long post… I always need long intros and all the details listed to make myself as clear as possible)
Please do help me
i am nearly crying while typing it
email me the response
cheers

I have never used HTC Desire, i am XPeria X1 user... but my guess is that you do not need to go to recovery mode, i meen on my XPeria i just enter bootloader mode (Volume down + power) and ROM load itself... This tutorial is about XPeria, so... maybe you should post your problem to HTC Desire thread... Good luck... let us know what was the problem
Greetings
