Realtor lockbox infrared software - Off-topic

Since there are so many great minds here....
I know PalmOS has a software that will unlock realtor lockboxes, but I am in search of a wm5 application to do so. Using the Ir port of course.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Real Faxing using the Kaiser?

Hi all
Anyone out there come across any FAXing utility that actually works on the Kaiser? I have tried both Mfax and TrueFax and neither work. Now, I mean true faxing utility using the phones radio not Faxing via internet.
Thanks, Kyri.
I always thought that was carrier dependant. If I remember correctly when I used to in the past long ago with Cingular I was only able to when I had Circuit Switched Data (CSD) enabled on my account that alloed my phone to be used as a dialup modem. But I haven't seen Cingular/ATT offer that service for some time now. Not sure about other carriers.
Please refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380509
Hi guys
Thanks for the feedback, I checked out the threads, but other than confirming that others have had the same problems, not much help.
Even after enabling CSD, there is a need for FAXing software that works on the Kaiser.
I questioned Trufax support and here is their answer…
Unfortunately we cannot support the WM 5.0 / 6.0 Pocket PC Phones at the moment. The problem is that we need technical support from the respective device manufacturers and this support is not given at the moment. We were working together with High Tech Computer for their devices (MDA, XDA, i-mate, etc.) but this was only for WM 2003 OS and they stopped supporting us with WM 5.0 cause faxing was not an issue of importance for HTC and the net providers anymore.
(another round of applause for HTC I guess. Shame on you for laughing at me, again. I will take my money elsewhere next time. I have noticed over the past year that the professional end Nokia phones are looking good and getting better all the time.)
Regarding Mfax, well that software just locks the phone a reset is required, hmmm!
So please the question remains, Does anyone out their know of any FAX software that actually works on the phone (CSD aside that is)?
Thanks, Kyri.

I don't want do be annoying but your question belongs to the software section and should therefore be asked in the thread I mentioned above. Why opening a redundant thread in the wrong section?
Hey (not so) deep thought. Wrong section may be, redundant only with hind site. Rude yes, Annoying certainly! unnecessary definitely.

I just stated my opinion. You are attacking me personally, so everyone can decide for himself who is rude. But continue your redundant thread in the wrong section. I don't have to read it anyway and maybe you can flame with the mods. I'm not available for that ****.

How about eFax?
Hi Cushcalc
Thanks for the efax link. It’s not quite what I had in mind. See I travel lots, go for months without needing a fax and then along comes a need to use fax for a couple of weeks until something else is arranged.
So I don’t want to start an online service and have the overhead/time/think about keeping up the subscriptions for months until I next need it.
Ideally I want to send/receive faxes via radio direct without all this overhead, you know satisfy the need for those couple of weeks and then forget about it till next time.
Mfax and TrueFAX have the right idea. It seems at least for one company however, that the non disclosure policy of HTC has basically prevented them from upgrading their products to run using Windows Mobile version 5 and 6. Sad and petty on HTC’s side I think. From my perspective, well no one likes a bully do they.

do any of these programs help?

Well, I made an eFax account something like 3 years ago for fun, never used it, and it still exists and I receive a reminder email about it every few months. I wouldn't consider that as having to spend time to keep it up...
I remember sending a fax with an HTC device, but it was indeed still on PPC2003 with my BA a few years ago.
And I'm pretty sure the software vendor you mention is a bit quick at blaming HTC, they could as well get the WM5/6 API info from Microsoft.

Perhaps you should let the mods decide what belongs where.
I too have had problems finding a suitable solution for faxing on my Tilt... AND editing the PDF format I get the faxes in...
You can at least receive faxes on your phone by email with Ringcentral.... I havent found a good email to fax program that might be the best you can do

AT&T Tilt, Windows Mobile 6.1 & iGuidance (oh MY!)

So much for any support from iNavCorp! Here is the time line of events which began with the opening of a Service Request with iNavCorp on Thursday, August 28th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Description of Problem - I have Windows Mobile 6.1 on my AT&T Tilt Pocket PC. iGuidance recognizes my internal GPS, obtains signal lock on satellites without a problem, but does not automatically refresh the map. I know for a fact that this is not an issue between iGuidance and the devices\'s \'built in\' GPS receiver because the GPS Info screen displays in \'real time\' (speed/coordinates etc. all match up with movement and speed of vehicle). It appears to only be an issue with the map display, which will no longer display movement in \'real-time\'. It will capture a given map location and speed, and hold them until the screen is manually refreshed. I am familiar with the \'panning mode\' for the map, and am certain that it is not the issue as I am not viewing the map in panning mode. I see no updates available, other than your recent v4.02 update, which I have applied. The problem still remains. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I am sure there are many others with this identical issue. I have paid good money for navigation software that is at this time, completely useless. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Jeff Spencer~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...followed by their reply, received late afternoon on Friday, August 29th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi Jeff:
iGuidance worked fine w/ the built-in gps in HTC until recently after HTC released their new ROM w/ wm6.1. W/ this new ROM on your Tilt, iGuidance will now only work w/ either an external GPS, or w/ the built-in gps but by using the universal serial port driver provided through a 3rd party program such as GPSGate from www.franson.com instead. If you choose to go w/ the 2nd option, please note that the basic version would be sufficient.
Thank you and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Support Team
www.inavcorp.com~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~....and finally my reply to them
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The very reason that I picked up the Tilt was so that I would not be required to carry around additional components.
Thanks for what you ridiculously refer to as support.
To tell you the honest truth, I am now highly dissatisfied with iNavCorp and your product. I would expect at the very least (at least from a reputable company that stands behind it's product) a forthcoming patch, or work with the phone vendor to provide a patch, that would provide a no-cost universal serial port driver to correct the issue with your application. I now see how well you stand behind iGuidance and will invariably sell it off. Furthermore, as a Systems Administrator with [national company name omitted]., I will have no trouble whatsoever going out of my way to disparage your product and use this instance as an example as to just how poor the support is with your company and how inflexible your product is.
Furthermore, as a member of such forums as; GPS Passions, AT&T, and XDA Developers, I fully intend to post both my request for support and your reply, as stated below to each and every one of these forums and strongly urge others to do the same.
Honestly, did you see NVIDIA say "sorry" to Windows customers who had upgraded to Microsoft Vista? I don't think so. Stand behind and support your product, or face the backlash of the consumer.
Sincerely,
Jeff Spencer
Verona~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I have made good on my words to iNavCorp. I now urge anyone else as irritated (perhaps mentally disturbed) as I am, to make their voices heard by opening service requests on their own. Sure we can install GPSGate on our devices, or purchase an external GPS receiver, but what kind of response is it from a company to direct customers of their product to do so!! As stated in my reply to them, would NVIDIA have told it's customers "too bad", but you can purchase something else because you chose to upgrade to Windows Vista and now our graphics card won't work as advertised? HELL NO!!!
...okay, time for me to grab a beer and cool off.
Regards,
Spence
Here is an update - iNavCorp's reply to me
Hi Jeff:
Please note that the incompatibility is not between iGuidance and windows mobile OS, but only between iGuidance and the HTC driver. Further, HTC's new ROM was released much later after iGuidance v4 was released, and being a small company, HTC will not be able to work us on our request. Our programmers have been looking at this issue and if a solution may be determined, we will make sure it's included in iGuidance 2009. If not, we will continue to include the incompatiblity w/ HTC on our website as we do now to minimize their inconvenience.
Thank you.
My reply
iNavCorp,
Please excuse my error, it is indeed HTC and not AT&T's hardware, however HTC is far from the small company that you described as "being a small company, HTC will not be able to work us on our request".
HTC makes over 80% of mobile phones running the Windows OS. Please read up on HTC and educate your staff on this 'small company'.
http://www.htcamerica.net/about/default.html
I shall contact HTC and pursue this with them, and ask them why they are too small to work with correcting an issue with your product.
As for my chances of purchasing iGuidance 2009 if you can't support your current product? ...I'd say the chance of that is about as good as my chance at winning a write-in campaign for the 2008 presidential elections.
Thank you for providing me with another opportunity to post and ridicule your poor customer support.
My follow-up reply
I apologize for the terse nature of my prior message. I have just realized that I have mis-understood your comment about being a small company.
I believe the reply you had sent me (below) was worded in such a way that left the impression that you were referring to HTC as a small company.
I have later received a message indicating that you are working on identifying the incompatibility and provide a fix. I appreciate that, I really do, however please don't preach to me about not being able to be 100% compatible. iGuidance 4 was compatible with my AT&T Tilt, and now it is not. As a customer, I do not care, who made what driver change at what point in time. The fact of the matter, as your product, you are obligated to support it. Simply removing every device that changes from your list of compatible products will do little other than shrink your install base and alienate your paying customers.
I thank you for your attention to this issue, and look forward to an agreeable solution.
Jeff Spencer
I'm done for now. I am planning to contact HTC, to make them aware of the issue and ask if they can put one of their support team members in touch with iGuidance, but I've a 5 year old to put down for the night, followed shortly after by myself.
Cheers,
Spence
Joe has already corrected this.
Thanks cyjeff, I had done that, but hadn't seen anything recent. I must have been too specific in my search. I've checked iNavCorp's site and the now have the issue listed as an incompatibility that they are working on.
**** Note: iGuidance is incompatible w/ the new ROM released by HTC which enabled the internal gps chip. iGuidance will continue to work with an external gps receiver while using PPC6800/Mogul, but in order for iGuidance to work w/ the internal gps, user will need to download/purchase Franson's GPSGate (express or standard version) via http://franson.com/gpsgate/
You are welcome.
It works like a champ... I have used it myself.
Funny iNavCorp appears to have been out-done by an enterprising developer posting in forums!
I've installed the cab and am off to do some testing. I have no doubt it will work. I am thankful that we've got a forum such as this, where people can assist each other. I'll have to donate or send a 'cookie' to this "Joe" guy!
Well, you can put them in the same boat as the guys from ATT, HTC, Microsoft and a multitude of other software providers that get "help" from the volunteers here.
Good luck getting any kind of real support from iNav. After spending a couple hundred on what they call "updates" which are minor bug fixes, I will never spend a dime on this company. When I purchased version 3, WM6 came out which was incompatible with this version. Instead of releasing a fix, iNav released version 4 which is no different than version 3 (slightly newer map), and charged $80. When I initially had problems with version 4 getting to work, I always got generic email telling me that it was either my phone or the OS i was running.
I am not even sure how many programmers they have. It might be a one person venture under the disguise of "Corp". If they are such a small company, they should not call themselves a Corporation.
actually, v4 is a big step forward w/ TTS. But with a big step backward by taking out the option to cut map.
BTW, where do you get 4.02 update and what's being update/fix in this release?
Did you guys also notice the single post in that thread about the DNS server change that also corrects the problem. There is another thread out there about this as well. If you change your DNS servers to Open DNS, vs using the default that ATT is providing, for whatever reason it fixes the issues w/ iGuidance. I'm still running 3.0.1 but planning on upgrading to 2009 when it's available.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention that, it's the route I went rather than the other options...using Open DNS isn't such a bad idea anyway.
Chris
Thanks This worked great for me. I will have to rethink my next iguidance purchase. I think they are going to force the ole' extra SD Card like garmin does.
I agree so much with everything you said. I spent $69.00 on my program about 3 years ago and I'll never give them another dime. Thank God for Joe and if I had it to do over again, I'd buy CO-PILOT LIVE. What a nice looking program that is.
Only seen KeePass Droid so far. It looks like you need to create initial database on a pc and download to device, but should good when its complete. They have versions for winmo, blackberry, symbian so think it wont be long before its fully functional.
I e-mailed Ilium about eWallet, loved that one on WinMo, but they don't really have any plans for android at this point
keepass droid seems nice, getting tan-lists working takes quite a while (tan-wizard in kp2, export to kp1, export to kp droid...) but now everything works great, thanks for the tip
Have anyone tried SplashId for Android?
I got this reply from Ilium Software on August 12th:
I used eWallet for many years on Windows and it's the program I miss the most now, along with a divX player.
install debian and use that to find programs to read them, e.g. i use mutt and gpg on my computer.
Try B-Folders, looks like a very nice app, it's free and their planning a desktop version with full sync as well. Encryption looks OK too!
I'm looking at B-folders at the moment, but ewallet is very good.
If KeePass is not your solution (it is mine ), you might want to try "Keeper" which is a free Android App with (paid) Win/Mac/Linux clients. However, I don't know if it covers advanced functionality like TANs really well...
Porting Apple app : AVIC Feeds
Hey
Is there any way known to mankind, to port an Apple (iPhone/iTouch) app to "the better OS", Android?
I am looking for this app to run on the android and interacts with my Pioneer NAV....
Any ideas or places to start?
Thanks
Different languages. You would have to completely remake the app.
or write a wrapper around it. Not that i think it'll be possible like that...
thanks.....
Thanks guys - appreciated.
...Or contact the supplier (Pioneer). Which I did and they "will look into it" - Yeah right!
They've released a Blackberry version of the AVIC feeds which would be written in Java so a port shouldn't be all that hard.
Thanks......
That is a good catch. Although I think the code would be licensed to Pioneer - but as least we know it could be done.....(but who would know, right....shhhhhh)
Now if I can just get a developer on it - I'm a few things, but not that....
Anybody interested to help with this?
x2 on the avic feeds for droid. would love to have this on my hd2 which is better than any iphone imho! even if it were a windows app but now that i have jumped on the droid wagon how badass would that be!
Any word on this? I would love to have this functioning! Got a Z110bt with the Z120bt software\bluetooth update and love it.
AVIC FEEDS for Windows Phone
I was able to write a version of AVIC FEEDS for Windows Phone. It turned out to be pretty easy. You simply create a contact with the GPS coordinates in the name using Pioneer's special encoding. Then the contacts are synced via Bluetooth and you can click on them on the head unit to start directions.
Does anyone have the need for a Windows Phone version? I can send out a link to beta testers and if I get enough interest I can publish it on the marketplace.
I don't know anything about developing for Android but if anyone else does, I can help with the logistics of how the app needs to work in order to function with the Pioneer head unit.
It would be awesome if someone ported the app to android. Hope a Dev has an interest in it?
I have gone ahead and published the app. I can't post a link to it because I'm new but you can search for "AVIC FEEDS" in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
Hopefully an Android dev out there can check out my source code and port it as well.
any uopdates on this?
Lately the TDPRi, Strat-Talk and Squire talk apps have closed with the following message...
Anyways is it possible to reverse engineer the redundant app with the guts or parts of the current Tapatalk app? Any pointers or any help would be gratefully appreciated as I am a noob! I have reversed and changed firmware on TVs and other stuff I know its not totally impossible, just need to to know where to start. If it does work I can then offer the app to other members of the forums who miss the features of the older apps. Many Many thanks:fingers-crossed:
