Wpa2 & Wpa2-psk
Nice find. In that review it states WPA2 was introduced in AKU 3.0. This hasn't appeared in any of the AKU 3.2 ROM's so far, is this a limitation of the Wireless Adapter in the Wizard or is it something that has been left out of the AKU 3.2 ROMs so far, or is it just a registry tweak?
Anyone know?

Thanks d0ug!
I was wondering what the different AKU versions meant and what was inside!

nope, it's because the hacked/cooked aku 3.2 ROM's are limited in this respect. They don't contain, for example, AJAX or BT FTP support either.
BTW, please follow my articles - I've posted a story ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...tand_what_all_these_so_c&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ) on this Mobile-Review article some 2 months ago.

Ok Guys, I'm itchin' to do an upgrade, but with all the options out there, what do you think would be my best bet. I'm a T-Mobile USA user who has a K-JAM, and would like the flexibility to go from my AKU 2 Club Imate release to an AKU 2.2 or higher version and still be able to downgrade (if possible). T-Mobile IM would be nice, but I have the cabs already so it's not a must. .net CF 2 would also be cool.
What would you recommend? What should I stay away from?
Thanks!
I found two files with interesting names on the Wizard FTP:
AKU_3_WIZARD_80040000-OS_0.nb.rar
AKU_3_WIZARD_80040000-OS_0.nb_test2.rar
I moved them to the /Wizard/Roms/Other_Unknown folder to prevent them from being deleted.
Can anyone specify what these files are?
Version?
Origin?
AKU level?
might be someone messing around to get people to brick their device...
or am i being overly worried ??
There were a couple of users in a thread a week or three ago that were playing around with getting AKU 3 to work on a Wizard. Was pulled from somewhere else. I think even summiter was testing it out.
I don't remember what thread it was exactly, but it may have been the dropped calls thread..
These are the bebe/sumitter experiments into AKU 3 documented at Summiter, put your effort towards the AKU 2.5 Rom
Like my wife says about me ... a work in progress.

ROTFL, Your wife is a genius
The AKU3.0 roms on the server don't work. Bepe cooked them and i was the official beta-tester
AKU3.0 bits are working in other phones (BlueAngel and Universal) but Bepe wasn't able to make them work in our wizards (unluckily Bepe doesn't own a wizard).
Summitter was interested in the project too, but i don't know if he's still working on it.
Bye
excuse my ignorance....
what does AKU3 update give you over AKU2 update?

Uhm...
AKU 2.2 gives you the ability to remove the battery icon from the top bar
AKU 2.3 introduces Bluetooth Stereo (AD2P)
AKU 2.5 ???
AKU 3.0 ???
Every AKU introduces also various bugfix and support for more devices.
PS: BTW, blueangel guys are also testing AKU 3.2 beta4 !!!
Yep, but they're testing it with that ssslllooowww GPRS, not EDGE. I'd imagine someone will come out with AKU 3.2 beta 4 for the wizard about 10 minutes after T-Mobile starts selling their 3G phones in the states.
What's in AKU3? Mainly bugfixes, little enhancements (mostly cosmetic) in contacts, though you get a much smarter Welcome.exe, as far as I know.
Will there ever be an official AKU 3.2 ROM for any of the Wizard variants?
The few 3.2 ROMs that have appeared aren't based on an official one - like the many AKU 2.3 ones that are out there. All of the 'cooked' AKU 3.2 ROMS have various components missing such as Wireless WPA2/WPA2-PSK Authentication, Bluetooth FTP profile, plus other stuff.
Is it likely HTC or any of the companies who re-badge the Wizard will develop an official AKU 3.2 ROM?
Andy
I hope T-Mobile will release one soon!

I don't think they will - why should they? There are no issues with the current ROMs and they have new devices in the pipeline (and already on sale) which get all of their attention...
My guess is that the AKU 3 (official) will actually be upcoming crossbow...
Nah... AKU 3.0 isn't the same as crossbow...
but nevertheless, i would very much like to see one out soon...
As far as I know crossbow is supposed to the second edition of windows mobile 5... Crossbow is due early 2007... AKU 3 is not officially out yet. Who says AKU 3 wont be Crossbow + some a little more...
There is a review floating around of crossbow. (Its linked from MobilitySite I know). From the looks of it, it is aku 3 and VERY little else.

It is out already and some new devices 9for example, the Dash) are already AKU3-based.

Wrong. They're entirely different. AKU3 is already out.
T Mobile USA have already got a newer rom out for their customers, which although isn't AKU 3 it has a number of enhancements over the UK version, so hopefully t mobile uk will release an update soon, which if they do i imagine they would make this AKU 3 as it seems silly not to!

I stand corrected
Just read somewhere that crossbow will in fact be AKU4!?
As the title says, which wm5 version is the most stable?? (and with least bugs of course)
Well that actually really depends on many things...I dont think any1 here will be able to give u an answer as is evident on the number of views and no replies!...anyhow other than reading thru most of these forums theres not much else u can do to get your answer!
The preffered ones seem to be Helmi's AKU ROMs and Xplodes AKU ROMs. Both are very quick...
The latest by both are AKU3.5, they each have their own thread.
But because they are preffered by many doesn't make them the best.
Out of curiosity's - how far away are we from getting a stable, good, faria-like ROM for our phones without all the bugs... maybe one with all all the nifty software, MMS ability....?

Never... because I haven't seen any cooked ROM that doesn't have any bug yet either the WM5 AKU 2 or 3 or the newer WM6.
Crossbow is still pre-release... I think once we can extract from a full release model there won't be any problems.
i think for now, the closest we will come to it, are the PV releases...
Well, looks like WM6 has been officially announced. T-Mobile is putting it on the dash... possibly on the MDA as well!
well i have it running on my 8125 without any problems at all. i have ilauncher and wisbar and all sorts of other programs running on it without a problem and its overclocked to 299 on batterystatus. and on my t mobile mda with faria's 3.3 v2 rom i dont have any problems at all either. they both work awesome for what i need them to do. One thing that is weird is that i can only overclock my MDA to 286 on batterystatus. when i go to 299 it just freezes. so that trips me out sometimes. oh well. And also i never had any problems with my MMS or internet on either of my devices. :-D

Wow! Looks good, and a good portent for us that it will be officially allowed or released for the Wizard!
