WM5 and internal storage card

Hi. i just installed WM2005 on my QTEK 9090 but no i cant find my internal storage card...
where the hell is it? i cant find it in explorer...
If you mean internal storage, there isn't one. If you didn't back up any data you had on it, you're in trouble. If you mean an SD card it should be where it's always been, on the file root.
yeah. it was the internal storage (42mb i think)...
even if i downgrade to WM2003 i lost everything?
yes.
When you formatted the EXTrom to install 2005, you killed EVERYTHING in \storage PERMANENTLY.
oh...
but when i format it using the partition tool i got an error!
just one more question?
The qtek 9090 has 128 mb ram + 64mb i think.
so what happened to the internal storage when using WM2005?
is it being used as memory or what?
thanks
WM2005 automatically uses internal ROM as persistent storage, so that you never loose any data when hard-resetting / killing battery.
Blueangel follows 'oldshool' memory model of wm2003 (lots of RAM, less ROM).
Newer devices which are meant to hold wm2005 have more ROM and less RAM (lots of ram aren't nessesary anymore, and RAM drains power).

Loading ROM from SD Card

Hello All,
I received my XDA IIs with WM5 on it. I dumped the ROM to an SD card and changed to WM2k3. I reverted because I needed a program to work that used pocket access. I now tried to go back to WM5 from my ROM dump on the SD card, but I get an error message that says "SD Download" "Sections=3" "Not Allow Update!". Any ideas. Can I revert back from a ROM dump between WM5 and WM2k3? Thanks,

8125 Good ROMS

my 8125 is running ROM version 2.25.11.1 WWE and my music that is on my sd is not running on media player nor are my movies i was just wondering what ROM should i look for that will work properly and where can i find it... i upgraded and ever since then it just hasn't been working properly... IN NEED HELP BAD PLEASE
seems like the sd card is corrupted. put it in a computer and format it
how can i do that
i just downloaded
GSPlayer Beta playes
the mp3 scratchy
media player does not
recognize the mp3s or
wmvs om my minisd
to format the card stick the card into a card reader on your pc
go to my computer you will see the card. Right click and chose "format"
What version of Gsplayer do you have since you said you have beta ? There is a 2.25 GSplayer version that has been out since August 2006.
If you are running WM6 you will have to click on file and then find files for GSplayer to find the music files on your SD card. By going to add or open file will not show the music files on the card.

dont format an sd card until you are sure. Make sure that you dont have two storage cards on the explorer. If you do browse both and find the correct one and delete the other then reset, you should be good to go
like right now im 8125 is not reading my sd card i dont have a sd card reader and my explore doesnt show a sd card at all i guess because i dont have a sd card reader and i can not find the downloads for ROMS on cingular o well really doesnt matter im selling it but thnx for everyones help
Selling it because it won't read the card?? That's seems a wasted investment to me. For about $10 you can purchase a card reader to reformat the card and start over.
As far as the ROM for the 8125, you won't find it on Cingular's site. It's on HTC's site -- as THEY are the device manufacturer.
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/docs/RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe
That's the newest ROM available for the phone -- which is the one you stated that you have. Never hurts to have it as a backup on the ole' 'puter, though. . . never know when you might need it.

Installing to SD

Hi Peeps,
Its been a while since i've been in the PDA scene... the TyTN II tempted me back.
Took delivery of my SanDisk SDHC 4Gb card this morning, plugged in and working a-okay.
Now, I'm wanting to install all my apps now. The installer greys out the option to choose your own install location?! Wanting to keep system memory to the max you see...
Anyone know how i get around this?
Cheers,
Matt
Do you install using ActiveSync ? Which version?
I sure do... well i'm running vista so is the "Windows Mobile Device Center" now - version 6.1.6965
i am having similar problem but my sd install is not greyed out but there is a problem with programs that have to write to the SD card.
I installed 2 programs that I have installed on a WM 6 ROM on my 8525 - these programs have to sync data and the data is written to a folder where the program is installed. If I install the program on the main memory of the TyTN II then it works just fine but if install it to the SD card it will not work - it locks up when trying to write data on the SD card of the TyTN II.
Any ideas on how to change security or access to the SD card so the device has full access to it????
It looks serious problem
However, it could be that the application is not yet compatible with the Tytn II ?
I think it is worth to ask to the developer of the application, he might have a clue or could create somekind of debug tool to verify.
I have not installed anything to the SD though.

I'll try the drivers and let you know but the problem is that I this issue with 2 different programs both of which worked fine on my Hermes with WM6 Roms!
I tried the different SD drivers and the TyTNN II was not able to access the SD card at all until I uninstalled the driver.
Interestingly the problem is only when the applications try to write to the card while doing a "sync" process where the app writes updated data to the SD card. The program otherewise works fine and installs fine.
Btw , it is only a 2GB card. I tried reformatting it and using a different card but no luck.
I think the issue is some sort os a security thing where the OS is errantly preventing writing to the SD card within the application.
Any other suggestions? I'm going to notify the place where I bought the Kaiser but also going to try to contact HTC.
I contacted HTC and they said that the device hadn't "really been released" yet and that with third party software they would not be of any help !!!!!!!!!
Can't believe they were so unhelpful. I even explained that others were having some other issues with SD cards and that it was more than one progeam giving me problems.
His answer was to - "just install your programs in the main memory"
Hope i don't experience such a thing with my universal since i just ordered a 4gb sdhc 2 days ago!

Well, that won't work at all, since the Universal doesn't support SDHC!!!!
* unless you are using the new WM6 rom with SDHC support!

THAT SOUNDS Annoying
there are some programs that just dont work being installed on the external storage. spb mobile shell is one of them and i know their are others. its because of the way the os boots is has to be on the internal storage for it to work properly. its not a fault, its ben the same with wm5 some apps are just meant to be instaslled on the internal storage. so check on hte applications home page or where you downloaded it from for its compatability and installation instructions

Absolutely - however, in my case the program (according to the developers who are working diligently with me to solve this issue) say the program I have been sucessfully using 2003, WM5 and then WM6 installed on the SD card (for several years) will NOT work on the Kaiser.
There is undoubtedly something different about the device and how it handles communication with the SD card. I have tried differnt cards (size, brand etc) and still the Kaiser won;t allow the program to write to the card during certain phases of a "sync" process.
Hopefully this is not a major issue for others but for my sake I hope it is enough of an issue to get some attention form someone smarter than me so I can (selfishly) get a fix for my issue

programs not saving to sd card but to phone

for some reason everytime i install programs it installs to my phone and not my sd card. when i run the cab it gives me the option storage card or phone and i select storage card, but it seems as if its still saving to my phone. any idea? my phones out of memory=(
Sometimes there's a folder called "Storage Card" in the phone and the system misses itself.
Or maybe you have problems with your SD card (do a search here about "SD corrupted" and read about it)
If you're experiencing problems always with this, you'ld better have to hard-reset.
Or you may try to modify the registry "by hand" using Total Commander or similar and tell that "storage card" is the card and not any folder.
Could you tell us what ROM are you using, and which is your memory / SD / etc. status ? (screen accessible via settings/system/memory) And how many apps are you installing there ?
basically my memory is reading the following:
from the storage card(2gb):
0.287gb used
1.610gb free
from my phone
122.5mb used
0.00mb free
i'm running abu's v10 ultimate with the 1.65.21.18 radio. its not the suggested but it hasn't given me any problems yet. its just this saving thinig that's been a problem. all of my ringtones and pictures go to the storage card so i don't understand why my CABS aren't. all i know is my phone keeps telling me critical memory. sheit.
how do i set it so that it saves in the storage card on total commander?
You got too much snizzle on your device, i'd recommed getting everything off via active sync/WMDC and performing a hard-reset start fresh back up your SD card and give a fat32 format with computer.
Then you'll be back on a roll with a fresh device
so i did the hard reset, but do i needa reformat my sd card too? its already as a fa32. so everything should be fine now? =)

SKTools is an excellent tool with many features. You can move apps from RAM to storage card. There is a trial version on their site: http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_feat.html
