Explain unlocked. The device is not SIM-locked, and the Extended ROM is not locked, just hidden. And there have a been a number of posts regarding access to the Extended ROM, including on PocketPC Dubai and my blog.

Since there aren't any SIM locked devices on the market yet, I don;t think anyone has busted it yet. If you are going to stay on as a T-Mobile customer you should be able to ask them for an unlock code, so you can use it abroad. Provided that it is locked as they have been in the past.

I have an MDA Pro from t-mobile on contract. I have spoken to t-mobile and they will unlock the phone after the contract is 1 month old. for a small fee I think. they unlocked my MDA 3 for £20.
if you want to buy the MDA vario from the netherlands, u must know it is in dutch, and locked. i have one now
Unlocking (SIM-lock) the MDA Vario T-mobile (Wizard)
The MDA Vario by T-Mobile is SIM locked (for 2 years). I would love to have a program to unlock it. I tried the xdadv_all_unlock tool, but off course that didn't work.. If anyone knows how to remove the SIM lock, give me a shout!
Hi timeout
what version u applied of xda unlock because there is another version of on www.buzzdev.net available something 1.68
any way i still not tried that.

Gugi

Wait no longer I've just unlocked my T-Mobile Vario by using :-
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php
It's worked great and I can now use my Orange SIM with no problems.
@leewilko: how much did they charge you?
£20 (20 ukp)
Hi, I have the XDA Mini S (a.k.a. HTC Wizard) from O2 Germany. I want to install an english version. I'm worried that if I unlock the device (I guess this is needed in order to install a new OS) I'll lose the old one. Is there a way to back everything up before upgrading so that I can restore it if I don't want to lose my warranty?

Wizard SIM Unlock Tool works right for my M3000 Orange France, now my Wizard is unlock
Thank you very much buzzdev
holy crap it works!!!
it is machinegod who has involved this
so big thanks yo him........
Buzz did also research!
but main question is now who brings us an MDA PRO unlocker...:!!!
OK, OK, so let me get this straight - this crack does what - cracks the bootlader like the tool from imei-check.co.uk or it gets round the country check when trying to install a new OS?
Hi All,
A few of us have had problems using Orange UK with an upgraded phone. E.g. see here.
My SIM card packed in this week so I got a new one. And guess what? It all works perfectly now!! The old SIM card must have been out-of-date or something.
I'm a very happy BA WM5 user now. Thanks to everyone involved in getting it so far!
Fraser.
hi all.
Is the Tytn ii a hermes phone? Would like to know as i'm thinking of trying the HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a program to unlock it. Its currently on Orange and I need to put T-mobile sim card in for a while.
Any advice appreciated.
Don't do that, the TyTN II is the next generation, I don't think it will work.
With all these Kaiser-named threads, it should be pretty obvious it is a Kaiser, not Hermes. Add to that the fact that the forums are separated by model - aka Hermes, Kaiser, etc etc...and here you are, posting in the Kaiser forum.
Can you say DUH!?
OK, that was a little mean, but you newbies need to read more.
Read the Wiki. It will give you all the info you need.

Are you saying that there is free unlock available then?
UPDATE: This method involves flashing a patched radio from a different device. Would not advise as this will probably either fail or brick device.
Did you actually test the device for sim unlock before you sent it back?

Hi,
I've had my Tytn 2 for 18 months now and my contract with Orange has just finished. Actually that's a little lie, I broke the first one and had it replaced.
The one I have has Windows Mobile 6.1, and now that my contract has finished I need to SIM unlock it.
I've been reading the stickys and looking around and as far as I can tell, I need to downgrade to windows mobile 6.0 before I do this, is that correct?
Then once I've done that (read: figured out how to do that =P) I follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375583
Sorry for the newbie post, I just wanted to confirm that this is all correct before I brick my phone =/.
Thanks for any help.
if your contract is done, contact the company you got it from and they will give you the unlock code for free...
You would be better off following the steps here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835
That way you can sim unlock and CID unlock your phone, and will be able to use any sim and any rom.
I recently bought an Orange branded HTC Touch Diamond, But its been unlocked previous to my purchase and i am using my Vodaphone PAYG SIM in it, Unfortunatly its missing TouchFLO3D. So im interested in doing a ROM upgrade, which im led to understand will get TouchFLO3D back on the device, as well as some other nice improvements.
I understand i can get the updated ROM from Orange, along with install instructions. What im interested to know is, if by installing this ROM will my phone once again be SIM locked to Orange?
I appreciate this may have been discussed already, but since this forum has thousands of threads i couldnt seem to get anything conclusive from searching to directly answer my question.
Any help is apperciated.
Thank You.
