which wm6 rom is currently the fastest and most stable. im on sonblack rom, the
AKU 1.00 OS20000 one, got it from pdaviet.net. any rom faster or stable than this one?
Im using c_shekhar's ROM: 7.0b.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0).It's the most stable and fastest ROM i've ever had.Problems with the Camera(video mode) & navigational button in landscape mode are still not fixed though in this ROM.
I'm also considering sonblock's ROM.Is it not fast and stable? What problems did you find with this ROM?
c_shekhar's ROM: 7.0C.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
bro upgrade to c_shekhar's ROM: 7.0C.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0). this the fastest and most stable rom.. i recommend this.

Thanks, but I think the same problems with video recording & dial-pad orientation remains in the "c" version.Regarding the fixes in "b" release:
Fixes over 7.0b.40CS:
1. The slow scroll problem while viewing the web page fixed.--Im using Opera browser.
2. Bluetooth FTP added for easy file transfer with other phones especially the sony erricson (tested with T630)(thanks to the_hesham)--I seldom use bluetooth FTP.I can Sync normally with bluetooth anyway.
3. Added the WMplayer ver 11.2...I use TCPMP & Mort player.
4. Added WkTask1101 a Wonderful task manager including Application launcher (Thanks to Waku)---I use QuickMenu,PointUI,S2U2,&Touch Commander
5. Added Ftouchflo for touch type scrolling a great creation by efrost. (Thanks to efrost)----Touch Commander has the nice feature of FTouchflo
6. Modified the settings in network Wizard for BSNL, India for proper functioning of GPRS/MMS.---I'm from Philippines,GPRS/MMS works perfectly with me.
thank you for ur replies guys. dnardz, as this is my first ever wm6 rom, im really not sure if its faster or slower than the other roms, its zippy but does get stuck sometimes. About the bugs in this rom, well it automatically goes into standby mode sometimes, even when i set it not to, and video camera is very slow, i mean its like taking pics in burst mode. sakurasyaoran, i,ve seen people in these forums who have converted from c_shekhar's rom to sonblack rom and some of them think that sonblack rom is faster, is this true. Please correct me if im wrong.
oh yeah and one more thing, i hope the mods wont mind me asking a different question in the same thread. Are wm5 roms faster than wm6 roms? If They are then by how much? Im particularly interested in llbasha wm5 rom with 96mb memory, 16mb ramdisk, 16mb pagepool since there isnt any wm6 rom with more than 60mb ram. is this rom fast. any major bugs?
my windows has 80 mb
yes ather90, but ur one has 80mb ramdisk, what i meant was program memory.
I personally find sonblacks aku1.0 rom fastest and the most stable. And ive tried all roms on this forum. except for athers aku1.0.. the reason i like sonblacks rom is first its aku1.0. 2nd i like the small things like if i change screen orientation it changes the screen quite quickly... alot more quickly than all other roms... i have a very heavy today screen with almost all of spbs today plugins... so it does matter for me... second SIP changing etc is fast unlike most other roms in which it took 4 5 or more seconds for the SIP menu to pop out... and many other small speed issues here and there. Stability is also good as this rom hasnt freezed or crashed once yet(at least not on its own it does crash when some software fks things up)...
thanks xPresident. Guess i wont be having any doubts now. And could u answer my second question about wm5 vs wm6 speed? Particularly in llbasha's wm5 rom case? Is it faster than the sonblack rom i have? the reason im quite interested in llbasha's rom is due to the large amount of program memory as i want to play games on fpsece, which seem to run quite slow on the sonblack wm6 rom i currently have.
im sorry but dont have any idea about WM5. i only used one wm5 rom for 1-2 days and dont remember which one it was n it wasnt a very good experience. thankfully about that time the first wm6 rom came out. all games running fine on my fone havent used fpsece but i do use pocketgba etc... n i think it works fine. although maybe ur right wm5 might run emulators faster. ive read in these forums some people have some problems with video playback etc too n its not as smooth as in WM5.
what about helmi?
funny i did'nt seem to read any comments on helmi's rom when in fact most of the roms u mentioned here came from helmi's base rom. i am using helmis for months now and the speed and stability is almost the same as when i first installed it. my program and storage memory are almost running full and i'm only experiencing a slight and unnoticeable slowdown. the only thing i am a bit frustrated right now is the camera functions and picture quality - guess it's the same with all the other roms.
sorry for the late reply, been busy flashing my ppc. well i tried llbasha and another wm5. xPresident, you're right. both of them are not as stable as sonblack's wm6 rom, just too many bugs e.g no DUN, had to soft reset a lot etc. i even felt them to be a bit slower than the wm6 rom. and wm5 aku 3.5 drain battery really fast. So finally i was bout to give up for a wm6 rom with large program memory until i found another one of sonblack's wm6 rom on pdaviet.net. this one is on aku 0.7.00 but it has 96mb program memory, 32mb pagepool and 0mb ramdisk. Im gonna try it out now and see how it goes.
wow ive got to check it out... didnt see any rom like that there before.. although aku1.00 like that wouldve been nice
where can I download sonblacks aku1.0 rom ?
you can download it from www.pdaviet.net. you will have to register n the sites in vietnamese though if ur familiar with forum registration pages you wont have a problem go to download n from the dropdown find himalaya... loads of roms there.
btw sahir plz do tell us if the 96 mb program mem does u any good with fpsece performance.

For better signal you need a new radio version not a new rom. But not every new radio is better than a earlyer version!
I also used stock 1.14 rom for a long time (nearly 3 months) and since about 2 months I am updating my roms from time to time because they are faster than the 1.14 rom when you intall a good rom (I´ve installed Miri´s 6.5 V6.1 Standart at the moment and for my it´s the best rom for now).
I also tested nearly every newer 6.1 rom here and also every 6.5 build 21202 rom and for me the Miri´s rom 6.5 V6.1 standart was the best and it uses only 31% memory after reboot. I don´t know what a 1.14 rom use after a reboot?!? But that is also important for more speed and longer battery life I think!
But everybody likes different roms so you couldn´t really say whats the best one or the fastest rom.
YEAH!
It makes a lot of sense!

Could you please elaborate?
If everything works great for you on 1.14 you don't have the reason to upgrade since there are no some fancy new stuff in 1.56. I would flash the new one anyway... its official upgrade! ^^
Post with comparison of 1.14 and 1.56
I installed the 1.56 but the features are very limited. No difference in speed so i go back to Dutty 2.6 rom which is user friendly and complete rom.
I think HTC should follow XDA and make real improvement to their interface. Because most of the rom here much better than new announced rom.
Hi guys
My wife's sags crash all the time and I'm thinking of flashing a new rom onto it. I've not spent much time on the sgs side of things and was wondering could someone point me to a lightweight reliable and close stock in appearance rom ?
Thanks guys
Why not just flash a newer version?

I have tried she's up to the most recent version her phone gets 2.3.5
Most current is now 2.3.6.
I would flash Galaxydroid v 3.3 its a pretty little rom, has great battery life and simple to use yet giving it a little bit of the custom feel if she wanted to. I used this rom myself and had no issues with it at all. Not quite stock, but worth a go. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Just scroll down the older versions and go for 3.3. V 5 is pretty much the same, but I found 3.3has better battery life

Hey,
Well it all depends on your definition of 'good'. What exactly are you looking for in a ROM? If it's speed and stability..I would definitely recommend Froyo By Laszlo. I used to always switch between ROMs but always ended up going back to Laszlo's!
FroSense Is also a 'good' ROM...but I personally didn't like it as much as Froyo By Laszlo.
Hope that helps a bit.. =)
Froyo by laszlo is definitely the best ROM.
It just seems...full, unlike all the other ROMs.
And its VERY fast, at least with my setup. Lovin' the swap!

I find that the swap really does help.
I have a very good friend that need a phone
and old g1 that need some love.
I been using different roms / radios / etc.
I would recomend Frayo - Froyobylaszlo mod
is fast and nice and you still have many apps to install
and after a week of using I say not random reboots or f/c and stuff
As others have said, Froyobylaszlo. I've tried loads of roms and always go back to this one.
Its easy to install, and it works great. Only thing I've done is app2ext and change to ezgb-2636 v1.5.2f kernel for better battery life(hopefully).
At the end of the day, choice of rom depends on what you expect from a rom, and this gives me all I need.
Unlike everyone else, I personally liked Ginger yoshi the most. It was super fast for me, and also supported a lot of things that my phone couldn't do But the kernal that I have (don't remember if it was included or not, but I think it was) also got me from going through almost 3 full charges a day with minimal use to about 1 charge (with a good bit of gaming and other use). So that's my piece... but I can say that I haven't tried any of the aforementioned froyo ROMs.
Well you should
They're good

Which ROM?
Frayo or Froyobylaszlo?
On those this is how you fix that:
Go to Settings>Extra>User Interface>Tweaks Extra>Reset UI Tweaks
(you don't have to reboot)
And for the battery drain you should always calibrate your battery after flashing a new ROM or else it will show innacurate information
Charge the battery to 100% (maybe even an hour or two extra)
Restart into recovery and do wipe>battery stats
Reboot and your battery should be accurate

Many times I've read here that people have problems with either WIFI, GPS or SMS on the custom roms, that why I still stick with stock rom.
Never tried it but I hear the jellyaosp rom hasn't been giving people any problems.

Is this ROM smoother than stock? Or just added functions?
the kernel is modded and some system/apps are deleted. So this rom is smoother, faster and less batteryconsuming then stock.
I've been using Omar's for the past months, until I needed a more reliable phone (for work). Then I started from Stock and Deodexed (so I could have volume rockers to skip songs), Deblurred (took off all Motorola bloatware), Rooted and Patched ADB (for using adb remount, adb root etc).
It's as stable as it can gets. I lost 2-3 hours learning how to get stuff done, but it worth it.
About Omar's M7, it's great! However, it's still under heavy development. The guy is tweaking the kernel, which is pretty volatile. It may be good for you, it may not.
If you want "stability", I recommend going my way: Stock, then make the modifications you want.
If you want beta shiny new features, wait a lil' longer because right now all the XT890 hacker dev guys (like Omar) are trying to get CyanogenMod ported to our device! And they made very good progress in the past couple days. Its coming lol

Don't use Omar's Rom! It's extremely crappy, laggy, slow and full of errors and you will have to update your Rom every two days and get new problems!
I would recommend the Stock Rom,
or much better: PiLama Rom 1.6, It's complete, nothing needs to be done, it's extremely fast and absolutely reliable.
If you want you can also do the debloater from the infiniRom on it, than you have a superswift system which will outcompete highend smartphones when it comes to felt speed, and also you have more privacy without the Motorola tracking apps.

I think Omar has done an excellent job, maybe it's unstable, but it's becuase he's the one that has put the most effort into porting things that nobody else has in their ROMs.
Don't critic his hard work, you don't even know how hard it is. And he's always improving it.

That's exactly what I stated. It's an experiment, you should only install Omar's ROM if you are willing to beta test it. The same goes for the CM10.1 that is coming, it's coming with loads of bugs and random crashes, and the devs expects us to test it and report in the most detailed way to make it better.
Beta testing is not for the faint-hearted.
I didn't download PiLama so I cant say anything about it. But if it's just the Stock ROM "debloated", it should be good stuff. If the developer says it's stable, then it must be. Omar never said his was stable

Yikes. Omar has done amazing things with our phone, and has been kind enough to share. He has many stable versions of his rom, no need to hate.
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
I've tried all of them and so far i can tell you this:
There isn't a really noticeable difference between all the roms, however they do have it's pros and cons.
Pi-llama is faster but it drags battery like the stock
Stock is stable but not very efficent
Omar's rom is fast and with a very good battery life, but crashes a lot
AIO mod is a little bit faster and with better battery life than stock and stable so far.
It really depends on how do you use the phone, my advice is that you root and deodex the stock and see how the phone works, if you want to make a small improvement start with AIO, if that doesn't do it for you go to pi.llama and if you want to have a really good performance try omar's but be aware of the several crashes.
Everyone is making a great job with their roms, it's up to you to support them so we can have even better software for our phone.
