wm5 permanent save + restoring oldfiles from 2003? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

HELP... i have very unfair problem ppl...
i upgrade my device last night...and guess what happend...after upgrading from 2003 to wm5 my PC OS crushes down so i format my PC (no chance for doin smthing else) so im not able to restore my contacts and etc with sync...when i wass using 2003 i have turned on permanent save for my contacts/conections and calendar stuff, and that file wass into my storage...it is into my memory again..so im wandering is there some tool or smthing what is able to restore that all on my PPC or im dumed?
thanx for any advice ...

Flash back to 2003, restore your backup, sync with PC, then go back to WM2005. Will take a few hours to do it all tho and it's only worth it if you still have the backup available (check this first).

yeah...seems to be only logical idea...or i wass thinking about to put my permanent save folder into other PPC retrive there and vie bluetooth sand contacts to my pocket again.
ty for advice

Hmm, why not restore on your other PC and sync that with ActiveSync? You can have multiple devices sync'ed with it, quite handy.

Transfering WM2003se contacts to WM2005 ....

Hi there you guys, I need some serious help here. Has anyone managed to copy his contacts from wm2003se to wm2005 after upgrading it to the latests release by BUZZ.... Hey BUZZ THANKS !!!!
Problem is that xBackup does not work properly under wm2005. I use xBackup and Sprite Backup to backup my contacts and restore them at a later time. But now I'm stuck, how the hell am I gonna copy my old contacts from the wm2003se to the new wm2005 without using xBackup or Sprite Backup. Any suggestions would help and your quick responce would be highly appreciated. Thanks.
dyuring the time you using the wm03 se)i think to make easy for you is first have a conection between the outlook on your pc and ppc then when you do find out tha all your contacts (beside tasks and calender) have been sync then you will see all your infos transfert to outlook ( check it out first) once that done perfectly,
then you can install the wm05 and syn again all you infos will be back again.
remember dont delete the infos of your membership with the activesyn of the older nickname that you used before,.
i hope it will work out very well with u.
Thanks alot for taking your time in explaining how this works. I will give it a try and I'll see what happens. Thanks again. Cheers.
Ummm...what is this doing in the Blue Angel forum?

backup from wm2003 on wm5

ok guys i have a lil problem and i hope you'll help me to solve it...
recently ive upgraded my 9090 to wm5 and ive made a backup using sprite software... however im not able to force that piece of software to restore my inbox and contacts on the new system... i have a fresh backup, made using wm2003 xBackup software and here goes the question...
is it possible to restore xBackup's backup file on wm5 (helmi 1.3.2)?
(the file is called CompactFlashBackUpPim)
No, you can't do it. The different versions of the OS store the data differently. You need to go back to 2003, activesync your contacts etc to your PC, upgade, then re-sync. I think the upgrade guide mentions this.
I always keep mine sync'ed anyway, so doing an upgrade is a very quick process. I also keep cabs on the SD card so I can quickly install everything.
and is it a way to see the data like appointments or contacts from that backup file?

How can I backup my contact ?

I change the windows of my PC and the new connection of my HTC delete all m contacts.
How can I find my old contacts ??
Please HELP ME !!!
Hi,all the time you must backup your files in your pda,spb backup for programs and Pimbackup for contacts ...
Thanks but PIM backup work when you use it to save your pim informations.
I don't use before and the PIM Backup doesn't find the last pim informations ...
Another solution ?
would recommend you strongly to open an account in my.funambol.com and install their WM application, extremely easy & useful for backup...
I will this solution. I have try other but without succes ....
OP, I'm not quite sure about your complaints about the functioning of PIM Backup, but it works extremely well for me. Just make sure you back up to your storage card and not your device memory, as a hard reset will wipe all added on information from your device memory.
I have an Exchange account with 1and1. It syncs all of my contacts/calendar/tasks/mail.
Whenever I port to a new ROM, I just double check that my photos/video/docs are on my MicroSD card, and flash away! Then on the new ROM, I just point to my exchange account again, and I'll be right back where I was in minutes.
Definitely work the small $
I think I forgot my contact forever ...
I don't use before a Pim backup and WM6 and Activesync don't propose a backup ... I use PDA during the last 6 year and it was the first time thaqt I lose my contacts ...
Next time I install a Pim backup program ...

you backup contacts when you sync with your pc
wiki page for flashing rom backup stuff and the works
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kovsky&redi
Backing up msgs requires extra apps. Flexilis works, as does smsOrganizer.
I use Microsoft My Phone service - it uploads all your stuff then you can add it all again after a cusom rom flash etc - it has never failed me http://sn1-p1.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po
i tried that microsoft site, but all contact will update on net, so how can i save it in my computer??

SPB backup.
It's not free but it's the best app.
When backing up untick system box though.
"i tried that microsoft site, but all contact will update on net, so how can i save it in my computer??"
if you sync with outlook on the computer they are backup that way
I used the PIM Back up, copied it to my PC, flashed X1, copied it back to X1, and restored. It backed up and restored all of my contacts including contact pictures and my messages.
Im with "Im Packing". PIM Backup is not just a free software, but a very useful one as well. Use forum search or google for the side you get it. Read about flashing in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 ROM development. There you'll get information concerning flashing. Have fun!

PIM Backup
Hi Calel3,
Most ROM's have PIM backup software cooked into them. Just dl, install and choose to backup your SMS only. Once flashed you can then just open the backup file through the PIM software and restore.......works every time
Hope this helps,
Creamy
