WM6 Voice Dial from Bluetooth Working! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

After messing around with numerous reg tweaks etc to try and get my headset button to initiate Voice Dial I could not get it to work, in fact I recked my install of WM6 in the end. So yesterday I did a complete re install of WM6 (Orwell Edition) And set everything up the way I like it.
Then I installed the latest MS Voice Dial 1.6 and BOING it WORKS!!!
No reg hacks needed. This is the first time ever I have got my headset to work with MS Voice Dial
Now my life is complete! This was the last little annoyance I had with WM6.
I am happy to say this is with out a doubt the best rom I have ever used.
Jules

Whahahahaha OK i found one bug. And I laughed so hard I almost fell of my chair!
I press the headset button and say "What Calls Have I Missed?"
Wizard Replies "2 Million Six hundred Thousand and sixty eight missed calls!"
Wow but Im one popular guy huh
Jules
Edit
On the next missed call request all seem fine again "You have no missed calls" hmmm gues no one loves me afterall :-(

I have tried reinstalling the cab file and, although it works, it actually causes problems with the SIP! Following the re-installation of voice command, changing the SIP takes for ever! Does anybody have a better solution or a solution for the SIP delay after the CAB Installation? Thanks

I just checked and there is a delay, I only use Resco Keyboard as my SIP so this is not an issue for me. Hope someone finds a solution for you though
Jules

Here is something really wierd! :S Installing the cab solves the BT activation problem but causes the SIP change to be dead slow. I then proceeded and exported all registry entries. Hard reset the machine and import the registry entries previously exported and copied the VC files into C\program files. Soft reset and BT works and also SIP change is as fast as without VC! :S Can anyone explain this?

I would like somebody to cook wwe crossbow rom without Microsoft Voice Command because it's not licensed.

WM6 & Voice Command 1.6 Bluetooth activation problem

okay.. okay.., i've searched the forums and found places where people mentioned this problem.. but i still haven't found a post where this problem is solved. I'm using crossbow but cannot activate it using my H700. is there a solution just yet? I LOVE this site.. if i missed something in my search, then i apologize. please don't flame me.. tho it won't make a difference, if someone could just point me in the right direction.. LOVE YA!
On the WM6 rom you need to install VC from the cab (if you bought it) to get the proper registry folders, then do the the normal reg edit. Not gonna type it, you can search for it.
weeeelll. installing VC6 defeats the point of the reg hack my friend (the reg hack is only for VC 1.5 anyway... VC 1.6 works). Thanks for you suggestion tho.
by the way.. i did try just installing VC1.6 and it works... but i figured if i can save 4-5mbs and just get the one already in working... even better..
wishful thinking it seems...
PS - Ive taken offense... sir... "if i bought it"?!? how else do you get it? arrrrrrrrrr.
i wonder if you can export from registry branches that are reffered to VC (now that you have it working with 1.6) and then i try to import that on my device with VC 1.5... if it's just matter of registry...
rgs,
pirlone
nevermind, i installed VC 1.6.
can't get my bluetooth headset to interact with VC tho?!? i can initiate call with headset, but i got a feeling that pda is still capturing my voice through mic and not bt headset and i can't hear confirmations through headset but only through speakers on my device...

When your looking for help you shouldn't be a **** when you get it! The reg edit works for both 1.5 and 1.6. All headsets and car kits don't work the same way some need the reg edit some don't. I wasn't accusing you of stealing it. I was curious if you had it or you just using it with the WM6 rom. Check your attitude at the door.
there was sarcasm there, my short tempered friend... (maybe i should have included that smiley.. DAMN.. should have used that smiley)
nevermind.. you're short tempered and obviously looking to pick a fight.. and unfortunatley i'm too old to whip out my "internet thug" persona... so i'll be the mature one and not say what a dumb ass you look like for getting so upset about a pirate joke (dumb ass).
Ok.. i feel better now..
love ya anyway man. Keep up the great work you're doing here. You're great! i just added you to my buddy list.. what's your myspace page again?
Tasks
Is there anyway to have Voice Command report tasks as well as calendar entries?
tasks - no
calendar - yes
you have good info on official ms web page...

WM6 VC Bluetooth activation issue finaly solved! [CAB here]

OK guys,
here is the final solution for the issue. By default, Voice Commander 1.6 built-in WM6 ROMs is unable to be activated from Bluetooth headset. The most common workaround here was reinstalling VC over the default one. That costs you couple megs of storage wasted, older/uglier icon in Settings, and slower device overall. No need to do it anymore! Here is a simple registry hack that enables bluetooth activation of VC.
Don't forget to soft-reset after installing.
!! Yoz !!
Brilliant !!
Great job! I will try it the next time I flash my rom again!
Great Find
Thank you! Works like a charm...
just out of curiosity, did you figure this out yourself or find it. if the former then how and if the latter where?
I have WM6 on the 8125, with the 2.19 radio, and this isn't working for me. It keeps saying that there was an error with voice command and that I should restart it. I reset my phone a couple times to make sure that it worked, but it isn't. How do you uninstall the cab? Or will reinstalling vc 1.6 take care of it?
Found this out by myself by exploring the VC 1.6 CAB with WinCE CAB Manager and comparing the registry values it adds to the system after installation with the existing ones. I figured out before that simple replacement of all built-in VC's files with the files of retail VC doesnt show any result. So, I found the difference here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway]
"BTAGExtModule"="vcbthag.dll"
- that's the key from installation CAB. The default value of the BTAGExtModule key is different. I tried to change it appropriately, soft-reseted - and voila!
The CAB posted here just changes the registry key mentioned above. You can get the same result by editing your registry manually.
So far I did not notice any side effects of this reg hack. If you can not install this CAB, there is probably something to do with allowing installation of the unsigned CABs on your device. Anyway, you can edit your registry by hand.
You are my new best friend. I was sure this was possible but thought I was going to have to spend a whole day working it out. Downloaded your cab and 2 minutes later my Plantronics 590a headphones work flawlessly.
Thanks again for saving me a lot of time and a few grey hairs!

MS Voice Command instead of Cyberon Voice Commander for AT&T Tilt with Alex's ROM?

MS Voice Command instead of Cyberon Voice Commander for AT&T Tilt with Alex's ROM?
Hi -
I have an AT&T Tilt, unlocked thanks to jocky, and running Alex's ROM (v5.HTC.181).
I'd like to replace the Cyberon Voice Commander which is in Alex's ROM with Microsoft Voice Command.
I *think* that the AT&T Tilt, by default, did have Microsoft Voice Command on it, which suggests that I have an implied license for it... right? (And I did buy Voice Command 1.6 SmartPhone for my earlier S620, so I have probably double-paid for it anyway...)
So, how do I get that original piece of AT&T-installed software back on this device after having flashed Alex's ROM?
I just prefer MS Voice Command's ability to search Contacts by sound, over Cyberon Voice Commander's requirement to voice tag individual contacts.
Thanks
-Jay
Jay
I do not think that MSVC shipped with the Tilt
to put it on your Tilt, just install the 1.6 that you purchased. I have it and the other one on my phone. I don't find the Voice Commander to recognize my voice commands as well as MSVC.
Uh, I had some trouble getting it to work, and frankly, I'm not sure what I did to get it working. I did do these things:
I had installed the patched MSVC files. (search for VOICECOMMANDREPLACEMENTFILES )
I also installed the OEM_Assign_PTT_BUtton.cab, but I'm not sure it is necessary. I'd hold off on that until last resort.
Maybe it will work just by installing it, and the replacement files. I had installed the additional memmaid apps and uninstalling them was one thing I did too.
Sorry, I can't be more exact.
Thanks, that did get Voice Command on and mostly in place of Cyberon Voice Commander. Still working on getting the bluetooth headset button to launch Voice Command.
-Jay
The launch wiht the BT headset was exactly what I had problems with. Again, I got it working, but sadly, I don't know how.
My MSVC worked straight after install..except that I do not get a call waiting tone after installation. Nobody seems to have a fix...2 of my friends with kaisers all have the same problem and we all have different roms.
This thread really worked for me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337501
There are two versions of MSVC in the forum and they both have the same version number. I found that it was impossible to get the 4MB variant to work even with the regedits. (This is the version that you have to go into Programs and enable/save/ etc.) The other variant is only 3MB and has worked on every ROM I have installed it to using the directions in the above thread and no regedits are required.
Hope this helps...

Microsoft Voice Command V1.6.19971

I noticed that in the Diamond forum Dutty has embedded MSVC 1.6.19971 into his ROM.
Any ideas where I can find the installation CAB for this?

I'm using MSVC_US_PPC_1.6.19214 which is working fine. You can find this in one of the threads in Kaiser but I believe it was taken down for an unknown reason (the thread still exists but the first 5 message and topic title was deleted). The title was something like "The Definitive Guide to MSVC". You can still get it in google cache though

We removed the MSVC cab because it is a retail sold program, YES it was put into some official ROMs but after a LONG debate we decided to not allow it in cooked ROMs etc... just such a grey area we didnt want M$ finding another reason to have a go at xda-devs.
i had a feeling it will be taken out eventually, curiously though i was thinking why the guy was banned
MS Voice Command 1.6 German
Hello Guys ...
I read much about MS VC 1.6 cause Cyberon Voice Speed Dial
doesn´t work well in German - and would like to test it now.
Could someone please provide a download link?!
Thanks!

Have you read post #3? MSVC is a retail sold program, if you want it please buy it.
Hey guys, on my fuze with the at&t rom, MSVC was included, now that i've upgraded to romeos rom and it's not included on his rom! i know that you guys are saying its a pay program, but i paid for it when i bought the fuze (as its included in the price).... and i really dont wanna pay for it again...
Does MSVC integrate and work with the fuze over bluetooth? I know that it needed several mods to work with both the 8525 and the Tilt.
Thanks
it worked perfectly with the at&t rom without any mods at all. and actually after i posted, i realized that i still had the copy that i had download from this site for my tilt. i installed it and it works perfectly once again

Does it announce incoming calls over the bluetooth headset? I can't get it to do that. My Tilt did it just fine and I have the Fuze VC set up exactly the same way as my Tilt, but all I get is my ringtone and no announcement.
Any ideas?

I'm sure this is a dumb question but did you double-check the settings? (Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Voice Command -> [Highlight Phone] -> Options -> Announce Incoming calls) and (Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Voice Command -> Notifications Button)

Yes. I wish it were that easy. As I said, all parameters are set up exactly like my Tilt which worked perfectly. With the Fuze, I only get my ringtone. Now, I know that the Fuze has a newer version of VC, so I may try to downgrade to the version that is on my Tilt.

I'm wondering the same thing. Stock Fuze had MSVC, and I flashed to the Elite ROM, and would like MSVC back. Is there any way to flash my Fuze back to stock rom, and pull the cab file out of it??
Unless you can tell me otherwise, the one that comes with the FUZE is defective. Partly... A few of us can't get it to say the incoming caller name or number. All you hear is a bell sound. I've gotten everything else to work like dialing from the headset, even where it says I have an appointment on my BT headset. Just for the announcement of whos calling doesnt work.
Do you have to have the handsset connect to juse VOice C`?
I pulled VC 1.6.19971 out of the AT&T Fuze ROM and included it in my personal ROM and I was able to enable "Announce incoming calls".
On my Nokia BH-501 headset, it begins to announce the call, but gets cut off by the built in headset ringtone. (I only use this stereo headset for music)
On my Oakley Razrwire it works just fine. With 'announce' turned off, the headset uses it's normal built-in ringtone. With 'announce' turned on, I get the VM announcement with my WM ringtone playing in the background (it opens an audio stream from the phone). I use this headset while driving, so it's all good.
Well well... depends on your MSVC-version. 1.6.4622 DOES NOT announce any incoming call regardless of the setting.
1.6.17913 does, 19209, 19213, 19214 does...
By the way: the ultimate FAQ was named The Definitive Guide for Microsoft Voice Command - I posted a backup in another thread.
anyhow, does anyone know the advantages of 1.6.19971 ? Does it report anonymous callers correctly (which none of the above does?)
And why is it that anyone wants to use newer versions without even knowing changes? Maybe it's a beta version, maybe it's buggy... but it's a newer release... using legal german retail (bought it) .4622 with 19209 exe for announcing reasons. Works brilliant on raphael.
But maybe someone knows a list of changes or fixes, advantages or disadvantages in 19971?
I would really like cyberon voice dial 1.2 to work on the fuze but when i press the bluetooth headset it does not work, i have searched but can't find what the reg edits need to be. thanks for any help one can provide me

Is MSVC available in the Dutch language? Its kind of weird hearing my Dutch contacts' names pronounced in English. Funny, but still weird...

2 Side Voice Recording on Kaiser **WORKS**

I made a simple cab from the registry settings that you install to device memory, then soft reset and use any voice recorder (HTC Voice Recorder, VITOAudio Notes, Resco Audio Recorder) to record both sides of the conversation. I have tried it with several Roms, dialers and skins too and it works fine with all these and no adverse affect on normal conversation
Might be worth cooking into a Rom to give 2 side recording as standard.
Tested and working on the following Roms:
SimpleOS Xtralite v2.1, HyperDragon 4th Feb, PDA Corner Ultimate v17, v19 & v20, Anryl's 15/3 6.S rom, AthineOS WWE, WM6.5 betas (HyperDragon and PDA Corner works with HTC Voice Recorder and VITO Audio Notes, rest confirmed with VITO Audio Notes).
Download the 2_Way_Recording cab (rapidshare) *HERE*
EDIT: Made a new cab combining my 2 way recording plus the incall enable edit from pocketnow.com to enable BOTH sides to be recorded clearly from the dialer menu after a call has been established. It does not affect the ability to use a 3rd party app if you want, just gives you extra ease so you dont have to load any new programs up when you are in a call. Install the following cab to device memory, then once a call has been established just goto the dialer menu and select record. It will record in .wav format and save the recording to the Device\My Documents\Notes folder.

I tested on two different roms. The first rom from Anryl's 6.S rom 21179 didn't work. Tried two radios (didn't take note since it didn't work). Was using Resco audio recorder and when in record mode, call comes in, message popped up saying cpu overload.
This morning, I tried on SimpleOS Xtralite v2.1 and with the radio recommended (1.70.18.02), it works. The audio from far end is rather soft during playback.
Congratulations!
Works great for me, ty for sharing this, as i'm sure most of us wouldn't have seen it in the original thread.
Thanks alot mskip

Tested on Anryl's 15/3 6.S rom after fresh flashing. Works with 1.70.18.02 radio. I only have SMS restored, Resco Explorer, PCMKeyboard and Resco Audio Recorder installed. Didn't get the cpu overload problem. Need to complete my Exchange 2007 Sync and finish installing the rest of the apps again before I test again.
Recording volume is rather soft though, even though volume had been set to maximum, same as for my TyTN II volume.

Great job mskip ! Finally working for me !
ROM AthineOS WWE, RADIO 1.71.09.01 and VITO AUDIO NOTES 1.37
Thanks
Finally got this to work with stock AT&T Tilt
Thanks to everyone involved.
Vito Audio Notes was tricky to figure out. I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times before I got the settings right.
Move the yellow equalizer all the way to the left when recording. Set the microphone gain to high.
If you move the yellow equalizer all the way to the right, it will only record very loud sounds, which doesn't work for recording phone calls. If you set the microphone gain to low, the recording will be hard to hear when you play it back. You'll have to hold the speaker up to your ear.
Thanks mskip & OP
Runs perfect with PDA v.19 & VITO AUDIO NOTES 1.37
Can't believe that after all this time 2 way works wonder if it would on Dash?

Thanks Sir mskip,

Yeah I know what you mean I have been looking for some way to record both sides of a conversation for about 3 years when I got my old Hermes. Even tried going through bluetooth to my pc and recording that way lol. All it took was a few simple registry changes to allow this. I was always told it was a hardware problem and would never be possible lol. Im happy now
When I went into my registry to test this method my values was already set as the original post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3463124&postcount=75)...
I wonder if this is what ICR does, is it the same solution??? Have anybody done a deep analysis of the ICR cab?
I was hoping for a louder recording...

Ok let me know what happens
After you install ICR the only way to get rid of it is a Hard Reset. Not sure how they will work together maybe the registry edit will bump up the volume with icr.
I think the registry changes are more compatable then using ICR as alot of people seem to have problems getting it working.

I guess if your recorded volume didnt increase then ICR is taking control of rerouting the incoming sound. With JUST the registry changes the volume is very loud. I had a 30 minute phone call yesterday and VITO Audio Notes recorded both sides perfectly. Maybe you could try a hard reset sometime to get rid of ICR and then try a comparison with just the registry cab
