I am about to unlock my G3 Cingular 8125 (sim and CID) but am not sure if it is AKU2 higher ROM. How do I find this out and what exactly is the AKU2 ROM...thx

With IPL/SPL 2.16,it sure is a G3 device.
Its mandatory to CID unlock phone to upgrade to any wm6 rom.Read very carefully the guide here at this link to fully understand the CID unlocking and upgrading your phone :-

What a differences between official rom (G3 or G4)

Hi
I have qtek 9100 G3 stuck on first screen with ipl/spl 2.17 – cid lock I want to update with official I- mate k-jam rom but on the i-mate ftp site I found many rom for k-jam
Witch one of them may work with my G3 device?
What made a different between G3 and G4 on the official rom?
Can I use all official rom on any device ?

If they are "official" ROMs, and unless they specify G3 or G4, they should work with either. The *.nbf file for official ROMs contains both G3 and G4 SPLs.

Sorry if this is a dumb question (and I've read the Wiki a zillion times), but what does IPL/SPL mean and upgrading it would change what and how?

I read a post a while back about some one who modded it to run on a G4. It's basically the bios and the new IPL/SPL's help make the Wizard run quicker and have better battery life.
