how can i check if phone is SIMLOCKED?

How can i check if my t-mobile wing (says htc on back) is SIM LOCKED? also if anyone knows any good programs to deal with this, please give advice. Appreciate all the help, and xda forum rocks.
Very Simple
Try using a sim card from a diffrent cell phone provider other then t-mobile and it works then well i guess its sim-unlocked
what ^ he said is a good way to tell. Also most phones bought from the provider are locked, you can go have them unlock it and usually they will do it. (most will wait till your past your contract though).

Diamond on PR

Hello everyone, I'm new in this and English is not my first language so excuse me for my bad english. I'm planing to buy the HTC Diamond but I live in PR and I'm stock with cingular for one more year I think, so if I buy the phone what do I have to do to make it work with my cingular SIM card?
thanks
Where are you planning to buy it from?
I'm planning to buy it from ebay. Is there any web site where I can find it for less?
Mine works in PR
I can tell you about my experience with the sprint one. I ordered the day it arrived on US and when it got here the net wasn't working and overall crappy. Sure most of the problems are now fixed but thanks to the community. You can try it normally or you can purchase on of these to make it work.

You can always try CTI-Miami, or some other third party reseller. Also, you just need to put the SIM card from your old phone into your diamond for it to work (that's all you need to do).
so I don't have to unlocked it or do anything like that? It will work with my cingular SIM.

well, as long as you buy a unlocked one, then you will be fine. (it should be unlocked anyway, since at&t isn't offering the diamond.)
The unlocked ones are more expensive than the ones that are for sprint, isn’t and easy way to unlocked them by myself?

you can't use the one for Sprint on at&t, they use two totally different technologies, GSM vs. CDMA. so even if you buy the sprint one, you can't use it on at&t.
ok, thankyou everyone for your help!!!!! I guess I will have to save a bit more haha.

Got wrong diamond? please help!

I bought a brand new looking htc diamond today and i think i screwed up big time. I am with T-mobile and when i got home i discovered gthat my diamond does not have place for a sim card. It says sprint on top of it, does that mean its not a comatible phone to T-mobile or is there a some sort of workaround? Would i be able to use it somehow on metropcs? Any help would be appreciated, hate tho think i just wasted the money on the phone that i will not abe able to use((
Not familiar with T-Mobile put it does sound like you purchase a CDMA Device which doesn't use the GSM (sim card) technology. There is no way around this other then reselling it and picking up the right device.
Could you post a photograph or a link to the brand of the phone? Is it HTC? Is a Diamond? Sure? It sounds a bit strange...
I never haven't seen a CDMA device so...
Where did you buy it from?
How hard is this?
He bought the Sprint CDMA HTC Diamond. It won't work on T-Mobile, so just resell it and purchase a GSM one.
yes your phone is not gsm
send it back or sell it on

[Q] Can I use a Straight Talk SIM in a Bad ESN G2?

I'm looking to pick up a used LG G2 from Craigslist (yeah, I know, it's risky). An attempt to mitigate a bit of that risk is what had let me to the question: Will a Straight Talk (AT&T) SIM card work in a Verizon G2 that's been blacklisted? I know that the phone itself is capable of doing it, just not sure if a Verizon blacklisting can cripple the GSM capabilities, too.
I've been in contact with someone selling one, and all seems to be legit; she says that the ESN isn't bad. It just seems like a little too good of a deal, so I'm skeptical. I don't yet have an active AT&T SIM card to test, so I'm hoping to find someone who's recently attempted what I want to do. I must really suck at web searches, because Google has been surprisingly little help to me in answering my questions.

Check the esn here http://swappa.com/esn
it will let you know if it is truly bad.

Any Verizon users help?

I picked one of these up at nearly no cost bad screen
Before I put a screen in can Verizon users confirm its gsm unlocked. It works on Verizon based some cards but every time I put a cricket or other sim in. I get a sim card not readable.
I don't want to buy a screen if other hard ware issues first. I'll fix it myself. I guess I should just tear into it and see.
