Is there somewhere I can download the original HTC ROM?
I am having numerous problems with the new ROM. GPS works great, but I have lost voice dialing and the device is no longer recognized under Media Player. It's getting to be more trouble than it's worth.

I'm not having probs yet but would be good to know there was a ROM out there to revert to.
HTC don't provide a download but maybe there update isn't too far off.
I think the WWE version is available here on the ftp site.

I discussed with a friend today. He has a mobile shop at Lausanne. He said that they received confirmation from Dangaard (Swiss and European HTC importer) concerning an official HTC GPS ROM update in March.
The update should be available at http://www.sp-business.com/ web site.
I tried with my IMEI... but it didn’t accept it

Anyway my gps works like a charm!
From ACE Hellas the OFFICIAL HTC representative here in Greece i learned that on the 2nd of April we will be able to download the OFFICIAL GPS ENABLED rom from their site, the rom is ROM: 1.23.405.2
Radio: 1.38.00.11
ExtROM: 1.23.405.103
Ελληνικά: 3.3.0
The last bit is the greek customisation,if you see any difference between this and the Belgian rom please let me know because i can't.
By the way which GPS program are you using?
The ROM is officially supported by the importer of HTC devices in the Benelux (Dangaard) and also in the other countries that this importer operates.
They got the rom from HTC as they don't make them theirselves.
Maybe HTC wants you to believe it's not official, but this is not a test rom, it's really an official rom.
Until HTC upgrade their website to allow downloading of firmware, I'm guessing this is as official as we're going to get.
1. If it is a non official one... I do not think that we can install it without super CID ?
2. I do not expect that HTC will make 3 French ROMS or more (Belgian, French, Swiss...)

The part of that letter you should concentrate on is "have not released". That doesn't mean that it isn't an HTC made official ROM. It is quite official to the region in Belgium and was released by their provider...which isn't HTC, but the ROM is made by HTC and given by them to the provider in Belgium. HTC is not going to admit that there is a new ROM available elsewhere until they offer it on their own web site because people would throw a fit when they would be unable to download it. This thread title is very misleading, the rom is not "home cooked". You should spend some time trouble shooting your device setup, the problems that you are experiencing is not the fault of the rom.

The ROM is only official in the countries where HTC has released it. But they won't make a WWE ROM for each country so this will be released in every country

So do I.
If you check the HTC-europe web site, they say " there are not ANY upgrade to ANY of our products...." HTC will not admit they made them for whatever the legal/technical reasons they may have....
... but, the link doesn't work properly!!!
They are working in wrong direction

As long as we are talking about a P4350 (not a wing, or dpod), and updates are available in your local language, you shouldn't have any problems with the current Herald updates.

No they aren't... Don't mind the printscreen of the rom info they placed there. If you go directly to the download, you'll see that it's the same rom

Because it's a Wing, not a Herald.. You probably get the wrong Model ID error?
Just try to install WM6 in ASerg way.

The P3600 is an HTC Branded device, they should at least get one consistant answer

No, Orange did not sell the wizard as Qtek 9100. It was sold as SPV M3000.
SPV is Orange's Brand for HTC phones.
That was in the past. In the future, Orange will not personalize HTC phones anymore. They will be sold as HTC, just like the plain unbranded phones.
As far as Dopod and HTC are concerned, I think the problem is different. Obviously Dopod BELONGS to HTC.
That's why there isn't any dopod's support website anymore, and Dopod customers must download their updates directly from HTC website!
So HTC has got the responsibility of the Dopod rom and make the support for it.
SPV roms are downloadable from Orange websites, not from Qtek or HTC one.
HTC gives NO support to SPV (Orange) roms and takes no responsibiliy about them.
You cannot compare the two cases.
HTC is fooling people around, because DOPOD = HTC. It's just that they don't want to give wm6 to Western customers!!

Hi everyone,
I have downloaded the Rom from the HTC Australian website but it will not complete the Rom upgrade on my P3600, I keep getting an error message saying ‘update error’ (Error 286). I have tried the suggested solutions like soft reset and taking out the battery but the error message keeps coming up after several attempts.
Any suggestions?
You should take the SPL/IPL out of that ROM, this is why you can't install it, it is protected to install only on dopod's phones.
You sould, first of all install a hard SPL on your phone to prevent bricking it.

Thaanks for your suggestions. if I understaood properly: I deleted the file (SPL.nbh) from the rom folder, i installed the files called hardspl_120.zip) and (Hard-SPL_ZakMcRofl.zip) to my device P3600. but, the error message keeps coming up just as the rom update reaches 28%.

If you still having this kind of problem, it means your device is not CID unlock yet.
The Hard SPL you should install are not those (I don't know which file you are refering to). Check out this Trinty upgrade thread, there should be Hard SPL Olipro or Des available. These are the ones you should install.
I'm afraid the ROM you are trying to install still have some kind of protection too. On this site, you'll find Dopod ROM, without IPL/SPL, try to install that one. this is what I did, and I never had any 28% error.

I had tried to upgrade a new ship rom for my HD, but any roms that i've downloaded from wiki.xda ship rom page, but they are all impossible to my HD. I noticed that the S/N tweak there is all HT849xxxxx, but my HD's S/N is HT93ZKD03891. I even tried to submit my S/N to the official website of HTC. But the website responded that: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
Is the anybody here can show me a solution for my HTC HD ???

It coud be a Branded Device? If you say "Yes" else you know why
Upgrade the ROM with USPL so you don't change SPL and the "The Device check" will be bypassed.

Even hough if it is shipped ROMs, it is ONLY POSSIBLE to update to latest ROM from your country HTC website.
If you want to use any other shipped ROM, then you have to use USPL or HSPL.
Read wikis for more info.

And also, the latest shipped roms are typically available here on the wiki. You can download them from there so you typically don't have to worry about entering a serial number through HTC's website.
From two week i try to download ghe last italian rom from Htc site, nut it stop after few seconds. Is there a way for resolve ?

Hi guys I am looking for any compatible rom that is English. I have Diamond unit with Spanish ROM on it. I need English compatible ROM. I tried one from mediafire link above but installer gave me error saying invalid vendor id. I guess I can't just install any it needs to be specific carrier or vendor.

Thank you very much for your reply. Unfortunately I tried several roms that I thought are English and all of them showed me "INVALID VENDOR" error. is there anyway you can specify ROM I can use with my unit, if you not sure what I have to begin with I'd be more than happy to provide any info needed to identify unit I have.

CID lock (aka vendor lock): put on your device by the manufacturer to prevent installation of a ROM not released by them.
HardSPL: This modified bootloader allows a much safer flashing process to take place since it reduces the chance of permenently bricking your device. It also removes the need to CID Unlock the device since it ALWAYS reports SuperCID when flashing. See the official thread for more info.
