Hi!
Is there any possibility to get WM6 without CID unlock for T-Mobile MDA Varios? (europe)
it would be quite useful, i don't want to void the warranty THAT much
The warranty has a 0 and 1 state only, there isn't a way of 'voiding the warranty a bit' or 'voiding it too much'. However, there is an 'obvious' and 'non-obvious' way of voiding the warranty (which is still void-ed, just that the people checking it may not notice it).
Anyway, there is a threat on how to flash a ROM without CID unlocking. Take a look there.
I can restore a T-Mobile ROM, but not a SIM lock. If a service technician will lok my machine, i will refalsh the T-Mob ROM, and i will give him totally blank...
anyway, thanks

Sorry about the noob question but I have looking for this solution and seem to find bits and pieces of the answer but not the whole thing. I know if you unlock you T-Mobile USA MDA phone and update the ROM you void your warranty. I was looking to see if there was software out there that allows you to unlock and then back up Your original ROM. This way you can try out other roms but still have the ability to downgrade back to your original ROM and locked state, just in case something is physically damaged on the phone you can still have it fixed on your warranty.
I have seen the lokiwiz software posts but have not seen anything that explains the steps to take to unlock and back up. Then upgrade and restore.
Like I said this is a total noobie and defiantly not a developers question but any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
I unlocked the CID on my phone and also upgraded my ROM. I'm guessing the CID unlocking voided my warranty, but if I wanted to downgrade my phone back to it's pre-warranty voided state what would I generally need to make sure was there? I backed up my original Ext-ROM, ROM and Radio, would it be fine if I just re-installed them all and then relocked my CID? Would it not produce any red-flags at the warranty repairer?
Also I think I have changed my EXT-ROM, is there any way to check what it is? I can't seem to see it in settings->memory
thanks
hi,
in a german forum i read, that only the cid unlocker which you had to pay for permanently gives you supercid status. now, i unlocked my trinity with the xda-developer version ''sspl'' for free, and want to restore the original condition, with locked cid, and original rom...
is this possible, and if it is, how?
kind regards, luki
ps: i used pofs method to unlock the trinity
Hi.
I'm searching for the same question and that's why I'm still on original WM5 ROM.
Mine is locked to Vodafone PT and I'm afraid to put another ROM like Dopod one, and if I got some problem, I don't know if it's possible to return the Trinity to the original state (CID) and send it back to waranty.
I keep an eye on this post and if you find some information, please put in here.
Good luck.
I don't think that you could CID locked your PPC !! But if it's just for going back to warranty...Often, they didn't see anything if you reinstall the original Rom ...

Are only branded trinitys cid locked ? what is cid lock ?
CID = Customer Identity
I don't know exactly why CIDs exist but i think it has something to do with licenses and stuff like this.
And no, original HTC devices have a CID lock too.
But @ shym I think you shuold watch out for the CID bypasser, I'm pretty sure it doesn't unlock your phone but you will be able to flash other ROMs anyway...
That's exactly what I'm looking for.
A way to flash another ROM, like Dopod or coocked one, and if I don't like or need to go back to WM5, just put the operator (Vodafone) original ROM and returnt it to warranty, if is the case (hope not)
Don't want to risk my Trinity to loose the warranty if the service found the phone was CID unlocked or else.
Sorry if this is first grade material, I've only been working with PDA's for a matter of weeks.
I've gone over the CID/SIM unlocking threads, and I tried using WizBackup to backup before my first attempt at upgrading. Unfortunately my motherboard seems to have a conflict with the program and I can't backup. So my question is, If I unlock, then after upgrading decide to put it back to stock and use the official Cingular 2.25 rom will that lock the CID/SIM?
The only reason I ask this is incase I ever have to send it in for repairs from the occasional drop or something off the wall like that. Oh, not sure if it even pertains to this question or not, but I have a G3 phone.
Thanks in advanced,
Joe

No ! once SIM/CID unlocked,it'll remain unlocked,it won't get SIM/CID locked again if you reflash the official Cingular 2.25.But yes,if you want to re lock it,this can be done by flashing back the CID Lock_backup.bin code through lokiwiz02b,which will be generated at the time you'll SIM/CID unlock it with lokiwiz02b tool.you must save that lock_backup.bin,in order to re lock your phone and flash back the official cingular rom,it'll be back to it's official default status.
Cheers !

I will be sending my wizard in for repair through radio shack, and I was hoping someone could instruct me on how to re-lock my phone.
I am not sure if they will check to see if it is locked or not, but I just wanted to be safe.
Please advise asap, so I can send it in and await it's replacement.
Thank you in advance.
Do you know the CID code of your provider? If so the you can downgrade the bootloaders to 1.xx and use WST to write the new CID code. After that only your provider ROMs will be accepted.
good luck
