I've read alot of threads and for every question there's alot of them not answer. So I need a sugestion of which rom to use. The WM6 roms need patching and fixes so I trying to wait off before trying one of those. Is there any roms I should try or just say screw it and go for a WM6 rom? I don't want to have to apply a bunch of patches and fixes, just load the rom, install a fiew apps and be on my way. I just need a rom that is stable and fast.

They are both very similar, stable, and complete WM5 AKU 3.3 Crossbow Style ROM's.

It's a give and take kind of thing...this is all explained in the thread concerning faria's ROM. Please do your research and read/search the thread. If you have to ask this question though...go with the 8MB page pool.

ariebart is reffering to a Universal ROM that has been applied with a crossbow look. I've seen it and must say that it looks really good.
Would be nice to have a QVGA version in a CAB file for all Wizard/Prophet users out here

HERE you can find the ROM using the crossbow theme. It's on the ROM but it's probably VGA instead of QVGA

If you read it you'd've known it's a theme you're referring to, not the actual thing.

Really? I thought we are requesting the actual ROM, not the crossbow look. You can get the theme anywhere, why bother including in the ROM?
Since there's almost nobody replying any more in the wizard upgrading forum I'm asking here for some rapidshare or other dl links to get my hands on some Windows Mobile 5 AKU 3.3 OS Roms.

The thing is no one is really messing with wm5 no more. thats why its harder to find roms. I just recomend you get on wm6 .

Problem is WM6 is unreliable on 8125 on Cingular/AT&T with any Radio
Isn't that ROM you gave us a T-Mobile one?

That's just what I don't want. It's not as stable as the WM5 roms.
Been trying out lots of WM6 roms but they all have their problems.

Ok i have read the WIKI but.. where do i download the roms from i tried from the forum but the links were dead in the ones i tried all except BA_WM5_AKU3.5_R4-xplode.lazy.release
I wanted the other ROM the AKU 3.5 WM5 Helmi v1.4.CF2 R2(by baniaczek)
But its download link were not working has anyone got a working link?
And also what is the best ROM to totally soup up my BA as i have just got it second hand and wanted to get it up to scratch

Its all device specific otherwise its like trying to put a volkswagen engine in a peugot - prob will not work!

Well that rom will give you a good base rom - if you want to flash it up - i suggest a wm5 big button dialer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282570 , some new themes, contactmanager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320544, newmenu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=255580,
That will do you for starters - just search the forum esp development and hacking - many apps there.

Thanks for asking. There's no such thing as a stupid question, I believe. And fortunately the Himalaya community doesn't like noob bashing. Although I believe they've already aswered your questions pretty well, you should base your choice on
- the language
- the descriptions of the Rom cooks
- some of them give screen shots, but applying other skins is quite easy
- the OEM's (other software) they include
- the reactions of the users
AFAIK all recent ROMs are very stable and fast. Most of them have some kind of TouchFlo built in, allowing you to use your finger instead of a stylus to click, type, scroll and so on. Different developers have come up with different solutions. Personally I prefer to first read about such tools, then try CAB versions on a clean ROM, then decide what suits my needs best. Not only for Touchflo but for all OEM's. Most people however simply pick one ROM they like, learn how it works simply by using it, install other programs if they can't get used to a built in OEM.

I due to take delivery of my Blackstone tomorrow which I am assuming will have Orange firmware on it. I don't want my initial impression of the Blackstone to be tarnished so will want to get rid off it.
Can you guys point me toward a fast and more importantly stable 6.1 rom with manila 2.1.

All the latest wm6.1 manila 2.1 roms would be fast and stable with little or no bugs. I suggest you try some of the latest roms created by the most used chefs including Miri, PhamQuang, NRG, Throy, Laurentius etc. All of these chefs have produced fast reliable wm6.1 manila 2.1 roms. You could also check out this thread on benchmarks, which is good starting point for comparing roms. All available roms can be downloaded either in the rom development forum, in the wiki here or HTCPedia
