What Is The Best And New Rom For Cingular 8125...and Best Wm6 For It

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295575
You first have to know whether you have a G3 or a G4 , you dont want to turn your 8125 into an expensive paper weight. Follow the threads in the wizard forums. Read read and read before you do anything.

Define "Best". Your definition is most likely going to be different than mine. So your needs and wants will not match mine... You need to just take the time to read and look at the options. If you want a ROM that gives you new features and pretty much works right out of the box then stay away from all of the WM6 ROMs for now and go grab Faria's AKU 3.3 (its a sticky at the top). It will setup your GPRS, MMS, and everythign and you'll pretty much be ready to rock and roll when you finish the install (beyond specific apps you use, but some of those (or similar) may already be there too). Its stable, quick and slick.
But if you want Bleeding edge, don't mind doing tweaks and dealing with odd issues, then look at the WM6 ROMs. Currently Most Beautiful Edition (MBE) is the one I run and am overall happy with it (its not perfect though and I find new odd things with it periodically). The Underground edition also seems good, and a new release is supposed to be coming. Also, the Hermes XDA Live ROM is supposed to be being ported and could show up at any time (and from what I've read, that is a really nice ROM on the Hermes, so hopefully will be as good for us on the Wizard).
And with all that said, don't for get the various Molski ROMs out there too. I haven't tried one yet, but everyone that uses them raves about them...

lol sorry about that, i just switched to the htc wizzard, lol im not that of a noob!

Just wondering why you guys are not waiting until MS officially releases WM6 instead of installing this beta/pre-release? Wouldn't it be better (and cleaner) to let MS fix all the bugs and issues?

I don't know if that will happen, it depends on the carrier. They bake their own ROMs after MS does all the coding. The 8525 is out so it seems like that would get WM6 first.
I would like it to happen and look forward to it though.

I see. Just like back when WM5 came on the scene and some carriers didn't want to offer(or sell) its customers the upgrade for their WM2003 SE devices.

Cingular 2.26 ROM

Not sure if anyone is interested but I created a ROM using a bare T-Mobile 2.26 with the complete Extended ROM from the Cingular 2.25. This is for unlocked G3 type phones ONLY as it has the 2.26 IPL/SPL embedded.
This was my very first attempt at cooking a ROM and it didn't turn out bad if you need a truely Cingular looking phone. Actually I can't tell the difference except it's much faster than the stock 2.25.
This has no customizations included and was for fun only. I've been running it today with no problems. Being as that I don't need GoodLink email or other such Cingular stuff I'll be flashing tomorrow to something different. (but that's me ...)
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Other_Unknown/Cingular_RUU_Wizard_2.26
I forgot to include the .rar extension when I UL'ed to the FTP, sorry! ( DUH! )
thank you. I've been using the 2,265 for some time now. it looks like these newer roms seem to be faster and better performance wise.
so this is a basic rom with cingular customizations? I'm deciding on either trying this out,the aku 2.3 beta by shogun or waiting for the next aku 3.2 release.
just wondering. will we see any official cingular/htc releases or have they abandoned the wizard?
If on a Cingular network I'm kinda partial to the shogunmark ROM. For a beta it's worked out pretty well and I'm going back to it today probably.
The 3.2 is a work in progress, not ready for primetime IMO.
This ROM I threw together is for those that need all the Cingular stuff that come on the stock phone. It's got the Cingular Splash Screen, complete Cingular Extended ROM and that's it. It's near impossible to tell that it's not the stock ROM unless you purposely look at the device info. I was simply addressing an extremely small (if existent at all) need for such a critter and to have a little fun.
Thanks, this is what I was looking for. I am going to load this today.
Keep up the good work.
bout time you put that out..
Wow! If only one person benefits from this ROM I'm tickled!
Good luck!

All those union breaks I guess! And it actually turned out nice, quite quick in stock mode without molski's speed and performance tweaks... actually never got around to installing any reg hacks as I was happy with it the way it performed. Back to your ROM now though as I don't need all that Cingular stuff ... with my enhancements added in of course !
Will this rom work on the qtek 1010?
I wouldn't thinks so, being that that you're referring to a Wallaby I believe.
Sorry!
Would you happen to know how to get cingular to work on my Wallaby?

Sounds like you might need to unlock it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=1190&highlight=unlock
I believe that you need to change over to the Wallaby upgrading etc. instead of looking in this Forum. From a 5 minute search there it would appear that the Wallaby working on the Cingular network would require you having 1900 MHZ coverage rather than the typical 850 MHZ which I don't believe that the Wallaby supports. I'm not a Wallaby owner however and claim no knowledge of the device nor do I really care to learn.
The subject I posted here was Cingular 2.26 ROM. It is for Wizards only. If you happened to be able to flash it to your device I'm sure it would cease to exist as a usable device. If your question is regarding the Wallaby operating on the Cingular network you're in the wrong place.
Sorry and good luck!
Thank you for the info, but I decided to sell it to someone in Europe. But thaks for the help
What is in ext rom? I dunno cingular rom...
If you dunno you dunneed!
(Trust me !)
in the beta versionn, the voice dial button locked the phone. in this one does the voice dial button really do voice dial???
This is the standard Cingular Extended ROM - no more and no less
going 2.26.. can't go back?

Back to what? My psychic advisor is on vacation...
Actually if you CID unlocked you can install whatever ROM you want. Typically you have to downgrade to the 1.05 ROM to the downgrade to another ROM lower than the 2.226, say the 2.24.
But you really should get into the habit of including all information about your ROM when you ask questions here.

a little overwhelmed - what rom should i use?

i just upgraded to the cingular stock 2.25.11 rom and after losing all my applications i wanted to look into what's out there for custom roms, i see all sorts of different versions (faria, crossbow, most beautiful, underground, etc) and i don't know really what to get, i'm tired of my phone being so slow, and i like to use it for the internet/messaging/emulation and music playing.
is there a standard rom that everybody kinda uses, or would anybody mind pointing me in the right direction? thanks.
Unfortunately, there is no simple answer. Almost all custom roms have some issues of one sort or another (no offense to the Chefs!). You really have to read and see what roms have what you want (or if you want a basic rom that you will then customize). If you want one that just works, then try Faria's AKU 3.3 . Molski's ROMs are supposed to be excellent, but I've never tried one myself (yet). The current "rage" is the WM6 roms. I ran on the MBE one for some time and really enjoyed it, but it took a lot of tweaking and stuff to get it to where I could live with it (ie: its not a clean an simple install). The new Faria "the real thing" is what I'm running now and I really like it. For the most part it worked out of the box (I had to add MMS setup for Cingular, but thats pretty common) then layer on the apps I use. So far so good.
I will probably take a backup of this one and try out mUn's ROM this weekend.
I'm sure that isn't quite the answer you wanted, but maybe it gives you some idea... Good luck!
thank you so very much for responding.
what does WM6 have anything that's really incredible about it that makes it worth using the 'real thing' MOD?
also, what do page polls mean? 8mb 6mb and 4mb?
would you recommend the AKU 3.3 ROM or the Moloki ROM?
thanks for your response, that mUn ROM also looks nice, keep us posted.

the above is a similar answered question
page pool sort of means taking away ram to increase your speed
check this link for aku info

i found 2.3 aku to be fastest. superrom1.1 or Molski final 2.3

I've been on the mUn ROM since Saturday morning and so far no major complaints. The midlet manager doesn't work well with the Gmail app so I'm going to downgrade it, and I had an issue with my phone vibrating and not ringing yesterday but a soft reset seems to have cured that. Otherwise its very fast (even when it wasn't overclocked) and seems overall very stable. I'll probably stay on this until the Faria Vanilla real thing comes out, then may have to look at playing musical ROMs again

Benefit to Diff Roms?

Hey guys im new here, just have a few questions. So i've been doing some reading on flashing different roms to the TyTn. Whats the advantage of this? I just got my ATT Tilt a few weeks ago and dont wanna mess it up. Is there a performance benefit? Call quality? Different features. I hear about people loading the default htc rom. Is this better in any way than the one that ships with att? Thanks in advance.
Hi, Welcome aboard.
Actually, by my own (short) experience, using a cooked ROM, can be synonymous of performance benefit, increased call quality, different features, different aspect, functionality and a lot more… I recommend you to read some more things about in the specific thread of a ROM and compare it to the features of your shipped ROM…
But, firs of all, DO NOT FORGET TO READ:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
cheers
Some of the new roms on here are such a big difference from the factory rom that you'll feel like you've got a new phone, others are closer to the stock roms. I know everyone is always a little wary the first couple times of flashing (and bricking) their $400 phone, but in reality it's actually pretty safe (just don't do anything dumb with your computer or phone while it's in the process). If you looked at the amount of flashing that goes on in this forum vs. the amount of cases where a phone gets actually gets bricked I'm sure the results would say that flashing is successful 99.9% of the time and the other 0.1% is most likely due to hardware or user error. Long story short, flash your phone to whatever Dutty's latest is and you won't be disappointed!
I guess ill have to give this a try. considering my phone locks up enough to annoy me and calls drop lol. oh and I can barely hear the person on the other side cuz the volume sounds just too low. Im coming from the blackbery curve to this, I never had a dropped call. hopefully a new rom will cure some of my troubles.

Please let me know which ROM you go with, and how you like it. I'm in a similar situation to you, I just bought mine. I had an HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125) before, and did a lot of flashing on that, but haven't tried on the Tilt since it came stock with WM6 anyway I didn't initially see the point. Now I'm starting to hear of a lot of people liking these ROMs better.
I'm running Dutty's latest and let me be the first to say it is great. I have no problems whatsoever. It's faster, easier to use plus with a ton of mods to make life easier all the way around.

Thanks! I'll have to try that out later on. It seems that one is the one everyone likes.
glad I could help.
Just to add another question, does anyone have any experience with different ROM "chefs?" I like Dutty's stuff so far, but I'm hearing things about a "Schaps" and some other chefs.
I'm not trying to pit them against each other (as I appreciate their contributions), but who's your favorite chef, and what is his/her best "dish?"

i like schaps but i dont like the purple. other than that, no problems with it.
just a personal preference
I cant wait to start messing around with this stuff. Hopefully i stop dropping calls lol as well as gain performance.
Schaps makes good ROMs. But does not have a HTC phone so the support is not there. With the Kaiser i suggest a vanilla (clean) ROM and install the programs that you like to storage card. There is plenty of memory in this phone to do that you need.
Would you consider Dutty's "lite" ROMs to be "vanilla?" Or are you talking about stock ROMS?
Now I'm noticing that there's "XDA Live." Anyone want to explain that to me? Are there certain blokes on this forum who make "official" ROMs for this site?
Confused.
I'm running XDA-Live and it is most like the stock ATT ROM- Kyphur pretty much took the stock ATT ROM and stripped it bare, (vanilla ROM). Graphically it is not at all like Schaps/Dutty's etc. They are using the stock HTC ROM as a base with the huge clock and the HTC Home layout and icons. I personally don't like the visual layout of those ROMs and think that clock is taking up WAY to much valuable real estate. With XDA-Live you have alot of free storage and you can add anything back into it that you want. Really customizable.

How about Custel or Q-Mobile or Sleuth or Alex? Maybe I'll just post a survey...
Is it possible to go back to the stock ATT ROM. Ive had it with dropping calls freezing. Time to flash this thing.
Stock ROM date
I love the ROMs being cooked up here on these forums.
However, before flashing any of the ROMs, I now believe a little research is important. For example, I bought a TyTn II just this week, and its stock ROM shows a date of Oct 29, 2007. Whereas the latest Dutty ROM from December 12 shows a base date of Aug 28, 2007. Thus important official changes from HTC could be lost by flashing to a ROM with an base date earlier than the officially released ROM.
Is there any place where ROM wizards post a ChangeLog in a sticky thread? There's all kinds of new ROM threads floating around, and it's hard for a noob to figure out which version of which ROM to use.
I actually loaded Dutty's latest rom, and my phone is extrememly stable right now. Havent dropped a call, calls have better quality and are louder. Phone moves much faster as well. VERY happy with my phone that i was about to use as a paperweight yesterday. lol.
What is Dutty's latest rom?? Never even heard of it lol link?

hmmm need a lil help here...

Ok, im not really to new to this forum ive been using different roms i got from here on my wing(herald) which is running "OTP v6.5 Biggy.nbh". But, my question is i just bought a wizard for my gf and she really likes the operation system set up on my wing. Is the .nbh file im using on my wing usable on the wizard like do i just change it out of my herald ruu program drop it in the wizards and load flash away? thats what im gathering from reading but, i just would like to make sure. oh and btw its a g3 cid unlocked and ready to flash. Thanks in advance for any help
In short, probably, since Windows Mobile is essentialy the same software, regardless of the platform that it is on. In long, I personally wouldnt do it. While the Wing and the Wizard are essential the same spec wise, they are not identical hardware wise, which in my opinion would spell diasaster for you if you try to flash a Wing ROM to the Wizard or vice-versa. We have many different WinMo 6.1 flavors for download here, and im sure that one of them would be too your liking. Please my friend, dont sacrifice a Wizard for experimentation!
Personally, I would try the latest TNT build(20237 I think), its very fast, and WinMo 6.1, and the latest build to boot!
Hope that helps!

Any recomendations for upgrading the rom on an Orange UK Touch HD?

Morning everyone,
I'm looking to get a Touch HD in the next week or so, but I'm limited to getting it on Orange UK.
I've read that Orange have (as usual) totally screwed the rom by adding their own crap to it.
So, can anyone recommended a cooked rom ? Does it make much difference based on network or not (I'm guessing not?)...

There several excellant ROMS available each with a slightly different approach it really depends on what your preferences are, NRGZ28, Duttys, Miri are all great have a look in there threads and do a bit of reading before you jump in the threads show what the ROMS perform like and each thread has what is called a changelog at the beginning so you cna see what is included etc.
Flashing first time may seem complicated but it is really simple have a look at the guide in my signature and everyone here is more than happy too help with any questions you may have.
Flashing ROMS wont affect your network
I'm also an Orange Uk user and can assure you, you will not regret flashing a cooked rom. Personally I would recommend one of Dutty's 6.5 roms but as Ozmoran said; check out your options first and don't be afraid to ask for help if you can't find what you're looking for.
Oh and welcome to flashaholics anonymous
I too have a orange HD but unlike the above two posters, I joined the miri bandwagon.
Tbh, no-one can tell you what the best one is. It really depends on what you want from your device but we'll all agree that a cooked ROM is far better than a stock one.
Good luck with it all.
I took the plunge on friday night and flashed my orange HD for the first time. I chose NRGZ28`s latest WM6.5 Titanium only Energy ROM.(I do not like Manilla) Used it all weekend and oh boy what an improvemet. It looks better, its a lot quicker and smoother.Wish i had upgraded it weeks ago!

I like the darkside, far more fun that all that sunlight stuff. . .
Thanks to everyone for their input, just to confuse things I checked on our system this morning and there was the touch HD. Logged back on at 12:30 to order and it had gone to be replaced by the touch diamond HD ?
As far as I know there isn't a diamond HD, but I guess they mean the the diamond 2 (which is the Topaz isn't it?).
So, the question now is, is this as good as the touch HD? I know its got a bit smaller screen but with the same res. The spec looks very close and I see (if it is the Topaz) there a cooked roms here for it...
Do I lose anything by getting one of those instead ?
This is fast becoming an opinionated thread which creates a long thread and is thus frowned upon. As everyone has different tastes, only solution and best solution is to make your own opinon and try a few.
