I'm new to HTC and I have now had the Diamond for around 3 weeks, I do understand that no device is perfect when it is first released, actually no device is perfect . Later down the track I'm hopefull updates will be released to rectify some of these bugs we are experiencing! (especially the RAM leak, it's just plain nasty)
Now what is HTC like with there support, what is there timeframe with updates and new firmwares etc. ?
If you look to the kaiser then it will be a year from the release date.
I have no idea but have you checked HTCs website for any rom updates??. A forum member mentioned that there is a new rom out 1.35 i think. Best thing to do is head over to HTC and see if they have any updated roms or check in the rom section of this forum.

Wow, thats nice, by that time i'll already have a new phone and then waiting another year for its updates.
it's just a vicious circle.

Yeh, i checked the site, HTC e-club Hong Kong, no ROM love there.
I hope that HTC will release updates on a more frequently basis, since HTC tried to make the Touch Diamond a real iPhone killer. Weather or not they succeeded in this goal, is open to discussion, but they will loose the battle for sure, if they don't manage to keep the customers happy.
One of the ways to keep the customers happy is to make sure they don't have to wait for almost a year on new updates. The phone was only recently released, so I'm not surprised that is has some minor issues here and there. I would be surprised if it would take months for the first update to appear, since there is more than enough feedback.
Yo HTC guys! Are you reading this? I'm afraid not...
I have insider info that the TFLO3D is being revised for better performance due to lag. We should see a ROM soon, either from me or HTC.
Hi guys, bought mine last week and my ROM ver is 1.35.
What do u guys have?
I have ROM 1.35 - seem to have many fewer issues than some others on here - e.g. TF3d reasonably respnsive without tweak, no excesive heat, very good voice qulity (inbound and outbound) on the phone, wife works fine etc.
The latest ROM is 1.37 but still not available at e-club for download, if your country do have a HTC service center then you can give them a visit to upgrade.
So, now 6.5 is officially released, when are we going to get a proper base 6.5 ROM for our Jades? Come on, there's got to be a genius out there.
I guess all the chefs are waiting for an official HTC 6.5 final ROM dump. I mean that's what i would do, if i were a chef.
Really excited about it.Hope something will come up soon.
When is HTC likely to release an official 6.5 rom for this device?
hi
to my knowledge not now we need to wait for one of ur cooks to use one of the released Roms and cook a good bug free one for us

I asked HTC support a few weeks ago and they replied to me that they won't release a official 6.5 ROM for the Touch 3G. I guess they prefer to sell the Touch2 instead.

Apparently, the Touch 2 will be quite cheap in SEAsia, somewhere between the Opal and Jade. This with increased memory but same processor and same camera as Jade.
yeah i looked at a touch2 ...however the battery is only 1000amh....compared to our Touch 3G's 1100amh
Asked in HTC
I too asked in HTC support.
They told it would take some time for them to release the upgrade for our wonderful jade.
They told to visit HTC site regularly to know about the release.
Waiting for the upgrade.

Means that WinMo 6.5 will be officialy released for our Jade !?
OMG, can't believe it !
I very much doubt there will be an official 6.5 update. Look at it from HTC's point of view, there's just no financial reason to do it.
hi
u nailed it buddy im 100% with u but then we have great cooks so im sure well get a good clean bug free ROM soon

It's hard to figure out HTC's marketing strategy. They introduce a newer version of a product with the same or sometimes inferior features. Take the Touch cruise 2, for instance. The older one had a better camera. The screen of the Opal is lowered and that makes it hard to reach the close button. As for the official upgrade, the word out is it will only be for the diamond 2 and touch pro 2. But when it comes to hotfixes, jade comes in first with practically none= no major issues to fix.
I too have asked HTC support about WM6.5 and have gotten the same answer - no WM6.5 for the Jade. But i asked them some 3 weeks ago, or more. Things may have changed in the mean time.

I thought 21854 is the official release. My future release features 21859 so is a bit newer than the official . I solved a problem it had with office, my mistake after all. So the in the new megade wm 6.5 will have as much bugs as the official release. (maybe a bit less/more)
If u look at the specs of the Touch2, it's very clear it's just an upgrade on Jade. Apart from the improbable stuff like RAM and ROM. the rest are nearly a match. some of the features that jade lacks, just a couple of registry tweaks and shortcut assigned keys..and you're on the GO! Save $$$...and a prettier phone. LOL

More than a long shot I would say, since allowing Jade owners to update 6.5 would mean they would not have an incentive to upgrade to Touch 2. Phones like ours requires a lot of thought at the beginning and more user friendly phones like Nokia are hard to beat. Believe me, I've tried to convert quite a few people!

This was already expected that the HD wouldn't be getting a free update to wm6.5. To be honest I'm not too bothered as most chef's already have fairly smooth wm6.5 roms anyhow

I wouldn't let this put you off buying another HTC device, my next device will still almost definately be a HTC one.
For me next will be TOUCH HD 2 a'ka Leo!!! For Roms - very good last form Hellonasty and Miri, wait from PhamQuang and another chefs.
It's not coming
i thought it has been confirmed that Windows Mobile 6.5 is not coming to Touch HD...
Read this.
yep, it has always been said that touch hd would not receive wm 6.5 official rom.
anyway, chefs provide better roms than the official ones, so for me there's no difference if htc provides official rom or not.
I AGREE when i buy my HTC with stock Wm 6.1 Was very Buggy and Slow untill i start to flashing with coocked ROM`s so its not a problem for me do we have Official ROM or not always we will be UPDATET because we have good comunity here no matter from the HTC support when WM 7 Release Again here we will have some Amazing Cocked ROM so sometimes i think that some of the Coocked ROM`s are better than the STOCK one.
Personally I feel this has been discussed enough beforehand and on this thread. For these reasons I am closing this thread. Any objections, please PM me with your reasons
Guys,
HTC released an update of the new HTC messaging tool for HD2. I downloaded the file from the HTC website. Can we use this to improve the HTC message client? HTC Messsaging looks better, but only works with a small number of messages.

I'm not sure that you can add it directly to an existing rom. Many of the chefs are however beginning to add this new version into their roms.
The site says that the HTC is valid for ROM is not above 1.49. So those who are using version 1.61 already have this update. But I'll be honest, it does not save the situation with a lot of messages.
I don't think so. HTC released this new version only 2 days ago. I think it is after the 1.61 version. Anyway, I hope that chefs will use this version and I do hope this solves the speed problem
sadly, the hotfix does not fix the problem...it has been discussed in the LEO forum..
we have to wait till next release and hope HTC can do something useful...
hey guys...
i've noticed that wildfire will get android 2.2 (with Sense, of course). Kiljacken had a 2.1 ROM from official wildfire, so we can try to port this version to our Tattoo, no?
I love Sense

ok. but we must wait the official ruu..
yes, in about a month...
PS : Wildfire roms are a bit "heavy" for our Tattoo (because wildfire has 384 MB RAM, tattoo has only 256). i'm waiting from the launch of HTC Tide, which it will released in this month, and is nearly the same that the Tattoo (same processor, same RAM, same display, but with AF Camera). It will bring Eclair with Sense
Specs : http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/HTC-Tide-phone-p_4287.html
PS2 : HTC Salsa will be released this month too, is a 320x240 device, and it MAY cames with FroYo...at least we can got good roms (without camera)
I'll attempt this when the RUU comes out, since I believe Kiljacken will be working on his CM6 port
Thanks Jacob!!
good news (hopefully)
According to following post
there could be an official froyo for HTC tattoo by end of september.
Will call HTC support tomorrow to find out the truth
http://androidforums.com/1536486-post63.html
I don't trust this source. A new member with only this post?! And why not make it official?
In my opinion, HTC gave up on the Tattoo by the time they released the Wildfire....
Sent from my HTC Tattoo using Tapatalk
It would've be very unlikely.. why should they??

Exactly. I do not believe that Tatto will ever receive any official upgrade.
I am pretty happy with current custom Froyo ROMs The only problem with them is non working camera (which in other hand is full crap, i used it to scan QR codes only).
Yes, Sense UI is quit nice, but it also offers a lot of crap too.
I miss HTC keyboard only, but in other hand it doesn't provide characters nor word suggestion for my language. So i use AnySoftKeyboard which looks like stock one. Oh.. and i miss T9 input and search with dialpad in phone application. That's all.
Vauge reply from HTC
Hello guys,
Telephoned HTC, Orange-UK and emailed HTC.
None of them are giving clear answers. Vague replies.
(Attached the reply from HTC)
Trying to follow up with HTC about the email reply
EDIT (Following was my question):
Recently I have heard from people, that HTC and Orange-UK are releasing froyo update for HTC tattoo. I am waiting with 1000 eyes for this update. So I would be very grateful if you confirm the same. And also if you can provide further information in this issue.
EDIT (Hopes are blown away):
see the latest reply from HTC in the following post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8056368&postcount=15
Does that mean we might be getting a update for our Tattoo's

So what's up now the Wildfire is out for some time, any news?
