Hi,
I'm trying to add a couple of things to the extended rom of my PDA2K, I've unlocked the extened rom but can't find config.txt in it.
Has anyone else unlocked the extended rom of their PDA2K? If so is there a config.txt in it?
Thanx
There is definitely a config.txt in there. Since I have an XDA2S, it also has an autoconfig.txt file for carrier customizations.
Could someone post extROM cab files for XDA2s from O2
autoconfig.txt

can you post that autoconfig.txt file here please, so i can take a look at it ?
thx
The isn't an autoconfig file. There is an autorun which reads and acts upon the Config.txt file. This is from imate
In Imate PDA2K there's no config.txt. The ExtROM is set up indifferent way. Imate has done that way since ROM 166 for XDAII. The setup.exe do the job
Sorry for the dis-information.

I stuck the config file into the PDA2K and did a hard reset but there was no effect to the setup process. The file was ignored
I had also put the Blue Tooth patch in the extended rom and it showed up in the menu of the InstallCabFile program where you choose your operator. when I chose the patch, it installed everything except for any operator settings.

So is there any way to modify the setup process?
Looking at the config text file not much different other than the Fax Cab file from the final .187 rom from o2. So looks like there is no real gain in it although would still like to have a play with the cab files if anyone has the external rom on their PC to upload.
Is the PDA2K the same as MDA3? I´m a little bit confused about this name.
If so, how did you unlocked the Ext. Rom? I just can made mine visible, but i can not write to it. The Unlock like on MDA2 does not work here...

There is another post somewhere with two files, one to unhide the extRom and another one to unlockit.
Thank you!
I found the problem. i didn´t know that i had to use -xda3 as parameter.
Now everything is working fine.

thanks for your help
Go to the file you want start. Then in the Contextmenu of the file click "Open with" and there you can enter the parameters.
Replying to the orginal post.
I'm fairly new to playing around with Ext-roms but here is what I have found so far.
Saqibj - It would seem that the models supplied by different Carriers have been created differently.
I've got 2 PDA2Ks. Which have been sourced in 2 different countries from different suppliers.
Both have
Rom version 1.12.22 WWE
Radio version 1.02.00
And seem to be identical hardware wise.
Device 1 has a std Imate config with no carrier customisations.
Device 2 has a modified extrom with preset network connections, splash screens etc.
Device 1 has a config.txt the other doesn't.
Most of the cabs are common to both devices
(I still don't know what half of them do - but I'm learning from other posts on this site).
Both have an Autorun.exe. - but they are different.
I suspect that the one that doesn't have a config.txt, has had the autorun.exe modfied to load the cabs etc - which obviously should prevent alteration/modification.
This could explain why you don't have a config.txt. If you are unhappy with your extrom contents, I think you can download the unmodified ROM contents direct from club-imate. But I've never done this.
Good luck
TomLin:
Thanx for the explanation, Would it be possible for you to post the autorunfile and the config.txt files, I want ro try to replace them on my ext_rom and see if it works that way.
Thanx
OK, I have a Cingular SX66, I flashed it using the WWE Versions With Arabic Customizing WITHOUT the ExtROM, meaning I kept the Cingular ExtROM, no problem, flashed find.
After that, I flashed the RadioROM 1.06.02 ALONE, and right now, when I hard reset, it says NO GSM, in other words, it became a PDA only, phone function is no longer avaiable. I tried to flash other i-Mate ROMs, but it keep says Country ID is not correct, N-N-12-12-12. I ran GetDeviceData.exe, it comes out like this:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E 1.31.00 0 0 1.31.112
So now, what is my country ID so that I can use the xda3nbftool.exe? It used to be XGULA001, or is there a way to execute the program without checking the country code, or a ROM with no country code checking.
TIA for all of your helps!
Still looking for help, tried O2 launch ROM, wrong Mobile ID error.
BTW, this is the DeviceDate.txt, before and after:
Before:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E XGULA001 1.20.10 1 0 1.20.115 1.02.10 02.10
After:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E 1.31.00 0 0 1.31.112
Nevermind, problem solved by flash another RadioROM from QTEK.
Paper weight
JRSmooth, I just saw your posts. I'm experiencing the exact same thing!!
I tried to upgrade my phone during the Christmas vacasion and haven't been able to use it ever since. The radio says FAILED during the startup sequence (which takes forever after the "upgrade")
How exactly did you fix it??

Well your situation maybe different from mine.
The radioROM I used was corrupted, I kind of knew it because when I flashed it, it did not show what version of radioROM am I flashing into. Now, what error message if you try to flash it again? Try to use a different radioROM from the same mfg. as your last flash.
Hope this help.
Well, it's a kind of embarrassing situation...
I've flashed my GSM device with a CDMA radio stack... It shows up as FAILED if you look at the version.
Hello,
Because your device IDs are different, eg, PH20B1 as opposed to PH20B0, you'll have to make a batch file to fix this. Here are a few instructions I threw together but REMEMBER - I take no responsibility for any damage done to your device. You are following these instructions below at your own risk!
1.) Download a full ROM upgrade file of your choice. I recommend the i-mate one in this folder here - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Imate_PDA2k_WWE_12200_162_10600_SHIP/ but feel free to use another.
2.) Extract the files from your full ROM by opening it with Winzip or Winrar and dumping it's contents into a folder. From now on it will be refered to as "your folder".
3.) Copy the file "GetDeviceData.exe" from your folder to your device and run it. It wont appear to do anything but it has!
4.) From your PC, browse to the Windows folder on your device. Copy the file "DeviceData.txt" to your folder.
5.) Open the "DeviceData.txt" file on your PC. You will see what ROMs your device has installed on it. Mine reads (without the blank/null characters):
PH20B0 B
WWE E
O2___001
1.22.00 0 0
1.22.162
1.06.00 06.00
The "PH20B0" is the device id, the "WWE" part is the country code and the "O2___001" part is the operator ID. Identify this information from YOUR "DeviceData.txt" file as your devices are different from mine and you will need this info for your upgrade. Make sure you write them down because if it's incorrect, you'll get errors and your device will hang!!!
6.) Download the file attached to this post, "Fix.zip" and extract it to your folder. Make sure you have the two files "xda3nbftool.exe" and "Fix.bat" in the root of the folder, not in a folder of it's own!
7.) Edit the file in your folder "fix.bat" using notepad (DON'T RUN IT YET). Replace the words "PH20B0" with your device ID, "WWE" with your country code and "O2___001" with your operator ID. Now, exit this file and save your changes.
8.) Run "fix.bat" from you folder. A Command promt window should appear and process the ROM files. This will change the device ID, country code and the operator ID to the ones you specified, thus allowing the upgrade to work on your device.
AT THIS STAGE, IF YOU CONTINUE, YOU WILL LOSE ALL THE DATA AND PROGRAMS ON YOUR DEVICE!!! BACKUP ALL FILES THAT YOU NEED!!!
9.) Run the "BaUpgradeUt.exe" file from your folder. This will start the upgrade process, so follow the on-screen instructions. During this you will see a screen with "From:" and "To:" showing what versions you have got to what versions you're going to. Make sure this data is correct and then continue.
10.) Once the upgrade has finished you'll be instucted to do a hard reset.
YOUR DONE - You should now have the upgraded ROM!!!
Good luck with this and let me know how you get on!
Regards,
Dom
I got a device of a friend. I'm not sure he used a wrong ROM image or the upgrade failed but it ended up with no Radio or ext ROM version in the boot screen .. only Rom 1.12.
More over, running getdevicedata.exe gives empty file with only "PH20" written there!
.. and any rom flashing gives operator id error.
my question is, can I update the Rom files to have no operator ID ?
Biso007,
In theory, you should just be able to follow my instuctions above but instead of using the standard PH20B1 or PH20B0 in the -sd switch ot the batch file, use PH20. This should allow you to continue with the upgrade process.
Regards,
Dom
Upgrading iMate PDA2k to O2 Rom
Can you tell me where I can download the Fix.Bat File?
Do you know if it will work to upgrade my iMate PDA2K to the O2 rom?
I keep getting an error message incorrect Country ID?
still getting the country id error...
can someone upload a country id free rom?
thanks
also it says checksum error.. how i fix this
thanks
Hi,
i tryed updating the qtek 9090, after i changed the country id type 1 it started.
It controlled my device and said : update from 1.12 to 1.40 and all the specs.
Then i hit next and id says checking information. It saysthat about 30 minutes now and the active sync connection is lost. Also my qtek looks dead.
I tried the installer again but it wouldn't work
I did a soft-reset and that didn't work also.
What now ? Hard-reset or ?.....
Thanks dudes
Ok, after a hard reset my device shows USB v 2.03 again so that's good ins't it
Now the country id error keeps coming, type is at 1 so what can i do more ?
Hi ThEScReW,
I've had the same problem while trying to downgrade to 1.22GER after flashing my device to 1.40WWE. I found out the modified version of MAupgradeUT that normally works for the Magician was able to flash my device with any BA rom I tried. It doesn't matter whether it's a type I or type II rom. Follow my instructions in the readme.txt and it should work.
Good luck!!!
Ok, i'm real thanks for that but i'm also really not that smart if you think i am.
What should i do with al those files? What to put where and what to do first and what last ?
Thanks  you will be a great help
Where do you live btw in germany ?
Take the 1.40_shipped.exe you have and use winrar to unzip the files in a folder. After that you can copy the 3 .nbf files (nk.nbf, ms_.nbf and radio_.nbf)into the BA_upgrade no more errors folder. Then you start the MAUpgradeUT.exe. If the software says there is an error just press quit and restart the MAUpgradeUT.exe. Next time you try it should work making no problems.
Ps: I live in Bavaria about 50 km away from Munich.

Ok thanks but the roms i have are just 1 exe file and that's an installer. It's as easy as hell. I just have to run de exe and follow the rules on the screen.
If i do what you tell me to do, then i need to download a rom from the ftp with al the files in. Then what do i do with those files? what first, what next , .....
When using winrar you can extract all the files of your exe into one folder.
(Right click the exe and under options use "copy all files into folder"
Then take the 3 .nbf files and copy them into the folder with my files. Then start the MAupgradeUT.exe.

Ok i'll try it tonight THX
Problem : if i use the rom from dangaard then the exe isn't a rar file, it's just an installer with everything in de exe ..
If i take a rom from the ftp and i unrar it then it are all CAB files and no .nbf files
Am i stupid or what? Witch version do i need and where do i get it? Maybe a link would do good
I'm really sorry for those questions, but here normally we just do the installer. I did allready a QTEK S100 and a QTEK 2020 with the installer from dangaard and everything worked fine. I just don't get it why i get the country id error now.
Try this one: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Roms/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom/
I had one of the first versions of WM5 on my blue angel, and decided to go downgrade back to WM2003 beacuse of the lack of applications for WM5 at the time. I now wish to go back to WM5, and cant beacuse devicedata.exe creates devicedata.txt with nothing more than PH20B in it.
I.e I should get something like PH20B 0 B GER R T-MOB101 1.12.00 0 0 1.12.100 1.02.00 02.00
when I only get PH20B.
Can I type this info in manually?
My device info is as follows:
I have a orange m2000 with the iMate 1.40.00 WWE ROM that I think is cooked using radio version 1.13.00 and protocol version 1337.42. ExtRom seems to be blank
I have created PH20B 0 B WWE E ORANG001 1.40.00 2 2 1.12.139 1.13.00 04.00 would this work for my device??
Thanks in advance WWWeed
Anyone Know if I can get away with just reflashing it with the latest ROM as I have patched once when I first upgraded??
Also where are the ExtRom patches located on the FTP? Theres no URLS on the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_WizardPort_v1.3-TuMa)
I need to find
* ?MidletManager-TuMa.cab - Installs the Java Midlet Manager
* ?ArcsoftMMS-TuMa.cab - Installs the Arcsoft MMS Composer (NOTE: You must create an account)
* HTC Camera-TuMa.cab - Installs the HTC Camera and updates MMS for Camera operation
* HTC Camera-TuMa-?RamDisk.cab - This is an additional .cab file, this can be installed onto the RAMdisk ("Temp Disk")
If I can get this all working, I'll make a nice donation on XDA developers!
There resaon you only see the device name in your txt file is that it has a lot of charters that are no printable and you are only looking at the first few charaters, (Wiki getting started does a better job of explaining that).
You can't copy your created txt file to your device (well you can but it does no good). The file is need in its full form as in with all the rubish (I think but have never provesn it) that the file is created by the upgrade process and that the country code error derives from the check of that file and the header of the rom that you are flashing.
So the short of all that is if you need the latest OFFICAL rom (1.42) then follow the instructions in wiki on flashing it,
If you want the latest WM5 (1.3)rom then .... Follow the instructions in wiki else follow the instructions in wiki.
As for the cab files and the link to the WM5 1.3 rom well there is always wiki...
The cab files are part of the rom which can be found under the link "2 Download the ROM from here" wihch part to of the instructions in the section above your own cut and paste. (thats the also the Link BTW)
Have fun!!
Cheers for your time and patience MDAIIIUser,
Guess it was just me being stupid
Am now on the 1.3v WM5 Cheers!

yes u can put WM5 on the M2000. Suggest one of the Helmi roms (do a search). u will need to CID unlock first (search for lokiwiz).
thankyou
so i can i use the all in one unlock tool for the first part before i upgrade? (is this cid unlock?)
which helmi version (1.3.2 beta)
1. 32mb Paging With 16mb Ramdisk
2. 16mb Paging with 32mb Ramdisk
also a link (or even better tell me ) to a simple how to would be amazing

If u read the first page of both Helmi's rom postings u should be able to decide which is best for u. Again the first page of the Lokiwiz post will tell u what to do. You don't really need to read the entire thread. I upgraded about 5 weeks ago and it was very simple. If u have any specific questions when u start ask away.
ok couldnt find the lokowiz , so is the universal unlocker ok?
also couldnt understand the extrom bit in the wiki where it states open a command prompt (no good with c) to choose my network

Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=265928&highlight=lokiwiz for Lokiwiz.
I will assume u r using XP. Start, run, cmd and u r now at the command prompt. See GetDeviceData to obtain the code of your network operator.
Assume nk.nbf resides in mydir\mysubdir then at command prompt type "cd c:\mydir\mysubdir".
Then type "setoperator xxxxxx"
where xxxxx is your network provider ID.
U can copy the nk.nbf file to folder that match ur device (PH20B/PH20B1) using XP.
Ok I get SetOperator is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file , im doing this in xp and i went to the right folder (C:\New Folder\WM2k5_AKU3.2_32mb_v1.3.2) , the nk.nbf and readme is there is that correct? or should it be done in the PH20B folder (i see a setoperator batchfile in there?? As PH20B appears to be the correct folder for my model.
also is it the lokiwiz 0.3 i need to use? isnt it just for the wizard??

Copy nk.nbf to the PH20B dir and run setoperator from there. I think Lokiwiz will unlock several HTC devices. Can someone confirm what tool he needs to CID unlock the BA?
The Blueangel does not and furthermore CANNOT be Cid unlocked, as they were made beofre manufacturers began CID locking devices, so ignore whatever that guy said - he obviously doesnt know what he is talking about. follow the wiki and you will be fine
so i just need to update the rom as via the wiki?
also does the extrom folder need to go on the sd? as i have yet to get one?
should i unlock the sim before or after the upgrade?
Do i need to update the radio or bt stack? and if so what versions are most reliable??

yes, i recommend Either of Helmi's current rom, AKU 3.2 if you dont use any 3rd party PIM management software/Microsoft Voice Command, AKU 2.3 if you do.
EXTROM: You dont /need/ extrom folder on the SD card, that just automates the process. in your situation i would read the cfg.txt and do what it does manually + what optional ones you want.
Sim unlock: no idea if it works in WM5 as i unlocked mine pre-upgrade so for the sake of me being able to help you do it first
Radio: Myself and many others find that Radio 1.13.10 (on the FTP) works best with WM5, i would reccomend upgrading it at the same time as the rom (put radio.nbf in the same directory as the rest of the rom upgrade)
Bluetooth stack: Is part of the OS so it will be upgraded anyway when you go to WM5
Hope thats everything, if not just ask
big big thanks man.
so with AKU 3.2 most things work? installing software , games etc?
this radio BA_BRPT_Radio_11310.exe? well the .nbf of that version not the exe?
is this the operator name to put in the rom?
Orange ORANG001
or this -
ORANG001
So I install the cabs by putting them on the ppc and running them yes , eg i would use the orange gprs and mms cabs from OPERATOR but dont need any others? Im a little hazy to what I need? after that im ok to pick what i want , just wanna know if theres anything important in the EXTROM OR ADDON folders that is needed(what being a noob(i do hate that word lol ) )
sorry for going on and on
Yes, the only problem with AKU3.2 is that the PIM system (calender/contacts) is different so 3rd party version + MS VC dont work
EXTROM: i would use all the cabs in extrom, but instead of the autoconfig ones use the orange cabs. i would also reccomend using the d3d addon cab.
'ORANG001' (without quotes) is your operator thing.
BA_BRPT_Radio_11310.exe includes the .nbf file, i usually open them with winrar (http://www.win-rar.com) but winzip might work too.
yah i got only the .nbf from the ftp , i put this in the ph20b folder correct? and it will auto install with the rest?
also this may sound stupid but will the BA take a 2gb/4gb SD card as I read everywhere it takes 1gb ( these may be old reviews of the phone )
radio.nbf: thats right
SD: i've got no idea, biggest i have is 1gb, sorry

The biggest SD card I have is also 1GB.
However I do have a 2GB Mini SD card and this works fine with the adaptor in the BA.
roy8846, I apologise for the duff info on the CID. I was travelling this week and only had my PDA's available to browse for the answers you needed. I noticed nobody else had replied so started to offer my advice. I have a BA, Wizard & a Prophet and have sim unlocked and CID unlocked (where applicable) in recent months. I was obviously mixed up by suggesting Lokiwiz for the BA.
Even though mini SD's cards are a bit more expensive I would pay the extra (then it will work in both slots). However some newer PDA's are now using Micro SD's.
i tried to upgrade but got a checksum error when running BAupgradeUT.exe , any1 have any ideas???
Bump (sorry if this is frowned on )
