Hi all,
Sites like this are amazing, thanks to all who post and share their knowledge. Just a basic question, how can I tell if my Dash is SIM and CID unlocked? I purchased a tmobile dash off of ebay and it arrived today. Just as a test, I dropped my Rogers ATT&T (canada) SIM card in it and everything just worked. Does that mean I'm both Sim and CID unlocked? This phone wasn't supposed to be, but i'm not complaining if it is . Thanks!

The only way to know for sure is to test it. If you can drop any SIMcard in and it works then you are SIM unlocked. The only way to see if you are CID unlocked is to try to flash a different carrier (or custom) rom on it. But only do that if you know its a G3 and NOT a G4.

if you're using a dash go to the dash forum futher down, make sure not to flash with a wizard rom...if you did im sorry but your phone probably doesnt work anymore

To test if CID unlocked in G3, just try to run lokwiz02 again and see if write errors are displayed.
For G4, mostly not CID unlocked (I think not much people will sell their G4 wizard after paying 20 euro for unlocking CID...)

Need to lock MDA back...

I used the lokiwiz tool to unlock the phone and used it to CID unlock. Is there a way to lock it back? I'm being shipped a new T-Mobile Dash(aka HTC Excalibur) because my MDA has been broke out of the box. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Note: G3 version of phone and all original ROM and OS loads still on phone.
I believe there is an option to lock your device in the Loki tool. Should be option "L" if I'm not mistaken.

As long as you have tmobile software installed there is no need to re lock your phone. Just use the ROM from the tmobile website

Absolutely correct...TMo not smart enough to figure it out.
Oh, well, if you think I can leave it unlocked I won't worry about it. It still has the original T-Mo ROM from when I got it, and that's the whole reason I'm getting a free upgrade to the T-Mobile Dash from them (the HTC Excalibur). Heh. Oh well, eh?

Ive done it with no problem. I became friends with one of the Tmobile people and they told me all they do is check to see what software is on it. Checking to see if its unlocked takes "allegedly" too much time to do on a mass level. Especialy if you have the mini usb broken

Thick Newby wanting a G4 CID unlock answer

I must be thick as I have read more posts on this than I have had hot dinners and tried various utilities all to no avail although thankfully my Wizard still seems to work.
My O2 XDA-Mini s is about 2 years old and of course locked to O2 although the device come up as SIM Unlocked but CID Locked.
IPL - 2.21.0001
SPL - 2.21.0001
I am now on the Three network and would just like to get back to using the phone I love rather than the freebie I have now, so I am assuming I need to get CID Unlocked?
Having bothered to get to that stage I would want to scrap the O2 software and upgrade to a better ROM.
Sorry for being so stupid on this, I am hoping someone in the know can take the time to reply.
Thanks in advance
There's no need to post in every thread, you already posted in the G4 forum, wait for someone to replay.
Anyhow, check your other post, this has been answered ,to upgrade to wm6, you got to do it with SoftSPL or HardSPL as its a G4 device, but if you want to SIM unlock, use the lokiwiz03 tool to generate the SIM unlocking code.

Won't work on Three as it's not 3G. Should be unlocked though - most XDA mini s are.

Diamond on PR

Hello everyone, I'm new in this and English is not my first language so excuse me for my bad english. I'm planing to buy the HTC Diamond but I live in PR and I'm stock with cingular for one more year I think, so if I buy the phone what do I have to do to make it work with my cingular SIM card?
thanks
Where are you planning to buy it from?
I'm planning to buy it from ebay. Is there any web site where I can find it for less?
Mine works in PR
I can tell you about my experience with the sprint one. I ordered the day it arrived on US and when it got here the net wasn't working and overall crappy. Sure most of the problems are now fixed but thanks to the community. You can try it normally or you can purchase on of these to make it work.
http://www.opirata.com/sigma-xsim-alpha-p-1718.html
You can always try CTI-Miami, or some other third party reseller. Also, you just need to put the SIM card from your old phone into your diamond for it to work (that's all you need to do).
so I don't have to unlocked it or do anything like that? It will work with my cingular SIM.

well, as long as you buy a unlocked one, then you will be fine. (it should be unlocked anyway, since at&t isn't offering the diamond.)
The unlocked ones are more expensive than the ones that are for sprint, isn’t and easy way to unlocked them by myself?

you can't use the one for Sprint on at&t, they use two totally different technologies, GSM vs. CDMA. so even if you buy the sprint one, you can't use it on at&t.
ok, thankyou everyone for your help!!!!! I guess I will have to save a bit more haha.

Hi,
Getting the td2 on o2uk. just wondered if there was a sim unlock available for this? as i want to use on orange. If so where ?
I obviously don't mind paying.

Where are you getting it from? I got mine from Carphonewarehouse (through one of the companies they own) and it was unlocked.
My one is from Mobilephonesdirect and it is unlocked.

AT&T in the UK

Hi there guys, was wondering if I was to purchase an AT&T HTC One 64gb developers edition from the US to use in the UK would it work with my UK t-mobile sim or would I need to root the phone?
Also how easy is it to root the htc one, I rooted my htc sensation is it easier than that??
Thanks
I 'think' that if you r00t it you will unlock it also, I might be wrong though and I can't remember if that's right or not.
Look up on 'debranding', to see if rooting will help you on that.

For a rooting guide see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
Thx for the speedy reply, yeah dont mind rooting the device but just wanted to be sure that that would actually work on a US AT&T version of the htc one in the UK with a t-mobile sim? Has anyone already tried this?
thanks
Nonononono. Rooting does not SIM unlock your phone. Unlocking your bootloader does not SIM unlock your phone. SIM unlocking your phone, however, does.
If you purchase the AT&T model from AT&T, you will be SIM locked and will either A) have to sweet talk them into unlocking it or B) Pay someone to unlock it(there's a great thread of resources for that in the General section). If you purchase the Developers Edition(or any edition) from HTC, it will already be SIM unlocked and should work just fine on any GSM network in the world. There is no AT&T Developers Edition.
EDIT: As far as the difficulty goes, it's pretty easy to root the HTC One. There's a couple of annoying steps you have to repeat before the process is done(i.e. flashing recovery/rebooting several times until it sticks)

I'm pretty sure that you can Sim unlock yourself once you're rooted.
Never done it myself however so might be wrong.

Not on the HTC One, no.
At least, no one has discovered a way to do it. This is XDA we're talking about here, where there's a will there's a hack.
Ah guys, thanks so much for the replies, I'll wait for a developers edition to turn up on ebay. This all came up because I'm tired of waiting for the 64gb version in the UK (if it ever arrives???) and it looks like its cheaper to import from the US (even with import charges).....
I take it the Developer Unlocked Edition just comes with stock android with HTC sense 5 ui???
Thanks again

yes it does;
This special HTC One® Developer Edition comes with: 64GB of onboard memory, SIM unlocked and has an unlocked bootloader. Compatible on these frequencies:
HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)
It doesn't have an unlocked bootloader, it has an unlockable bootloader. Just like every other network version of the phone has apart from AT&T. That is why HTC are selling it. Also a phone can be sim unlocked without the phone being rooted, as it is completely different. Unlocking the bootloader and then rooting it, wont sim unlock the phone, it will just allow the user to run unauthorized roms etc. Also if you got an AT&T phone from them, you wouldn't get OTA's from HTC they would come from AT&T as the CID wouldn't be a HTC one.
OK guys thanks for the replies, but now this is slightly confusing, so just to be crystal clear if I was to purchase a HTC One 64gb Developers edition from the US to the UK, and rooted it and installed my own rom etc, would this work in the UK or would I need to root the phone and sim unlock it aswell, or will rooting the phone do that for me anyway.....apologies for all the questions, just want to be sure as I've on;y ever rooted my HTC Sensation
Thanks again

OK to clarify - the HTC One DEVELOPERS EDITION will work on any UK network without any tinkering/rooting etc as it is SIM unlocked.
Any other USA model will be SIM locked and you will need to pay about £20 to get it unlocked for (UK) SIM cards. This has nothing to do with Rooting or which Rom you use. Stock will be fine.
2/3G should work, 4G won't tho
Great thanks for clearing that up guys
Hi guys, new question about something similar.....just seen a htc one that interests me, but the guy is saying it's AT&T Unlocked and will work in the UK.....is that even possible?
Thanks

That depends, you see, i have an HTC ONE - US international version, but in my country 3G works in 900mhz, and the factory unlocked i have has 850mhz so im stuck without 3G. In England they use 900mhz so i would need one from there, and yours, which is the same as mine only locked to ATT, will not work on 3G in UK, since they are 900mhz. 2G will work there btw.
