forcing your d810 to stay on 2g network - P3600 Software Upgrading

in Australia we have a network called 3
3 has bad receception on 3g network in some areas but
lucky for us they use telstra as their 2g carrier
I have found that going to network
settings, phone , network
and selecting manual and then telstra
and also selecting set networks
and telstra as the priority on the network list by
moving it up and putting 3telstra top and 3 telstra below
forces it to always have telstra 2 g and full reception anywhere
so no more three 3g network drop outs

you can switch off 3g in phone options. the unit will run 30% longer because the search for 3g and 3g connection itself costs a lot of energy

[REQ] Lock 2g on AT&T Atrix

It seems like people with unlocked devices are able to lock 2g but AT&T branded devices are not. We've all tried these methods and they have not worked:
4636 menu
AnyCut
ProWidgets
The problem seems to be that we can't disable the automatic operator selection. I remember this used to be a problem on the BB but someone figured out a way to enter some type of code into the phone and enabled 2g lock... AT&T also eventually enabled it after a few years. Is it possible for this to be enabled on AT&T Atrixes?
You're trying to lock the device to 2G bands only? I can't imagine why you'd want to do that with AT&T upgrading their 2G towers (albeit slowly).
The problem is I get very weak 3G/H+ signals but strong E signals where I am and it kills my battery when the radio is flipping back and forth and trying to find a stronger 3G signal.

[Q] Hutchison 3G Problems/ Three / Drei Problems

Found the solution
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739530&highlight=edge+toggle
works also on ics !
------------------------------
First of all hello,
maybe some people know this problem.
Hutchison 3G Problems/ Three / Drei however named is a network provider in various countries.
Like in Austria if you have not a strength 3G signal, your phone will switch to another network provider called A1 (Vodafone) it is national Roaming and only 2G, but it's free because they have a contract.
The big problem at this point is that if you get back to a place where 3G signal is good the phone doesn't switch back automatically. So I have to search for the network manually and that is really annoying.
In original roms from Hutchison 3G in Austria the search at least every 3 minutes for the 3G network if the are in the Vodafone network.
What I didn't say before is that Hutchison 3G has no 2G network in Austria that is the reason for the contract.
So I'm searching for a script or something else which gives me to opportunity to switch to Hutchison 3G or a automated script which does the job.
Greetings
Hi and "Servus"
did you try
*#*#197328640#*#*
-> Debug Screen -> Phone Control -> Network Control -> Band Selection -> GSM Band -> GSM all
(or stay 3g all the time with "WCDMA" on)
viel Glück!
you guy rock! that works now it would be awesome to write an app for that... I could write an app, but I need the source from the debug screen ...
danke ;-)
ok found a shortcut code to the band selection *#*#2263#*#*

[Q] HTC One gsm only problem

Hi,
I've problem with my HTC One, in Settings->network i changed to GSM Only ( I done that also in service mode, and it's saved ) but my home network is not listed. I just see two other networks that are listed as roaming networks, and the phone connects to one of that. Sometimes my home network is listed, sometimes not. How can I fix this, coz these two roaming networks are better quality, signal is better and maybe that's the reason why I don't see this home network, it's not so good signal. Is there any way to improve this detection of poor networks ?
When I'm in other places ( cities ) the signal is ok and my home network is working.
Thank you.

I can't really help you but as far as I know LTE is already unlocked and working on all international S4 Actives. Mine certainly worked perfectly out of the box - although I turned it off promptly because I have ****ty 4G coverage where I live so it was nothing but a battery drain for me.
Are you sure you have a 4G sim card, and that you are in an area where 4G has coverage?
If you go in under settings > connections > more networks > mobile networks > network mode don't you have the LTE option at the top?

Im not 100% but i got the textmessage from my provider, so i recon they only send it to people who are able to use the 4G.
Yes, i am in a 4g coverage area
i dont have the LTE option at the top no. i have:
- wcdma/gsm
- only wcdma
- only gsm

Well then I really have no idea - the only thing I can think of is that you might need to replace your sim card if your provider didn't already do so in advance of the 4G rollout. Hopefully someone with more information might step in here, but the international version is LTE capable out of the box. If you don't hear anything else I'd suggest to try and contact vodafone and get a clear answer from them first.
If you check the mobile networks in your area and don't see anything that supports LTE, you may just live in an area that doesn't have it yet (people get 4G and LTE somewhat mixed up - 4G is the overall identifier for a whole class of technologies with "4th generation cellular networks" basically while LTE is technically one of those technologies so, it should rightfully be classified as 4G in most respects.
Having said that, the only way I got my GS4A to function in LTE mode - meaning it actually shows LTE in the notification bar under the 4 with a small G and LTE underneath it - was to go into the service menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and change the preferred network type to either LTE only or LTE/GSM auto (PRL). Once I did that the radio would reset and connect and then it would be in proper LTE mode. Doing a speedtest with the Speedtest.net app shows LTE as the connection whereas with my standard setting which is WCDMA Preferred (T-Mobile AWS) it'll just show as "4G."
I've had no luck making alterations in the Settings/Mobile Networks section, I have to change it in the service menu to get LTE functional. I don't use it because here in Vegas where I live (specifically my home location) the LTE mode gets me about 1-2 bars of signal (about 8-12Mbps) whereas the WCDMA Preferred setting pulls in 5 bars rock solid and 25-35Mbps.
Can't do screenshots or I'd add them, I'm running the pre-release MI2 ROM presently and that aspect is borked.

I can check my area on the vodafone site. I live in a 4G network area 100%!
i guess my wcdma is sufficient then.. didnt experience speedboost tho..

That would be because you're on the i537 from ATT, rather than the i9295 that this discussion is about. I checked google and vodafone holland does indeed use LTE on the right bands in its brand new rollout, so it isn't that - most likely it's his sim that needs replacing or it's just not activated on his account yet.

[Q] Access to more Network Mode options? XT1053

I saw a few screenshots of people's Moto X's from sprint with a bunch of options under Network Mode. I have the XT1053 (TMO unlocked, on ATT network) and the only options I see are "Auto" and "2G."
I browsed around and found that there's an LTE OnOff app, but I'm just wondering if there's a way I can get those options for 3G on my device's Network Mode option list?
The reason why I even care is because for some reason at my workplace, I can't seem to get any data through LTE. My signal will display 3 bars of LTE, but it absolutely does not work. While it will turn off LTE and just say 4G since it's on auto, I find that a majority of my day, it WON'T switch. It stays on 4G LTE 99% of the time and does not function at all. When I walk outside the building, LTE works perfectly fine. Would I be right to assume that the auto mode is literally on borderline between switching, so it never establishes a stable connection?
I guess it brings me to the question, is the Auto mode inefficient / will I have to live with manually turning off LTE every time I get to work? :/

3 bars of LTE is an excellent signal. With 1 bar of signal I can still get 15mbps down from my provider. If your phone is detecting such a strong received signal it won't be switching back to HSPA on its own. For some reason the building you're in may block the phones transmitted signal more then it blocks the signal from the cell site. I am guessing you're on band 4 LTE which has quite the frequency difference between uplink and downlink. Your only option(assuming the phone or cell site isn't defective) is to manually switch to WCDMA with a third party app such as the "LTE setting" app in the Play store. Or unlock your bootloader and flash firmware from another provider that has more options. I know the Rogers Canada firmware has an LTE on/off option, it also has a 2G only option. Sadly Rogers has not yet approved the release of 4.4 (kitkat).

That makes a lot more sense to me now. So basically the "Auto" mode only considers my reception and not transmittance strength, so it never saw a need to switch me off LTE. I am almost sure it is not my phone because I started experiencing a signal loss issue with my S3 a few days ago. I doubt it's the cell site because as soon as I step out of the building, LTE works with no problems.
I did ended up using LTE OnOff to force CDMA and I can actually do stuff now. I went and did a speedtest ...
Ping: 114 ms
Down: 4.06 Mbps
Up: 0.77 Mbps
I guess with the lack of options, I have yet another reason to roll up the sleeves and get my hands dirty. Haven't touched ABD since I had a samsung captivate!
Thank you
