If anyone is interested...
This app is getting closer to being ready for prime time. It is a simple, small footprint notification repeating alarm utility.

Support so far is pretty good too.

I'm looking for an alarm clock app because captivate's stock one fails at waking me up. Either it isn't loud enough or it doesn't rings long enough before automatically going to snooze. Every suggestion will be apreciated.

Try alarm Solo. It is the one I use
I've been using Alarm Klock for a while. It's not super pretty, but it gets the job done.
gentle alarm for me, its paid but well worth the money, you can use full length songs, fade in, control volume and how fast it fades in, and it has a night display so it looks like a real alarm clock at night, in which you can edit with different fonts colors and size of font...
Thanks for the input guys. I'll try and see what works better for me.

That's what I use. Those math problems can be a doozy in the am sometimes, tho.
good morning alarm
Is the one I preference. Fully customized. Also greets u. Time and weather conditions. U can also pick a directory to shuffle your alarms so u never get acustom to the same tone.
Check out Nightstand Bold. Also, try the Luminescence alarm tone. I don't think it ever ends. I'm horrible to wake up and that wakes me up every time because it doesn't stop.

Same here.
sent from my Captivate
I was looking for something along the same lines for my girlfriends cappy... and ran into AlarmDroid. Seems to do the job well enough though I haven't dug into the full features available... and it's free
I had no idea that us Captivate owners were such a sleepy lot.
It must be from countless hours spent awake late at night flashing new ROM's and kernels. Damn you XDA!
On a more serious note, I almost lost my job today because the piece of crap stock alarm failed me once again, which is how I ended up in this thread.
I'll be using these alarm clocks that have been suggested and hopefully one does the trick for me as well.
Thanks for the referrals.

Gentle alarm is the shiz. Fade in alarms are so good compared to the conventional immediate loud buzzing alarms. Tons of options too

hi y'all
i have an htc one 64gb with hd revolotion rom
the rom is great but i have 1 problem, the alarm gives my a heart attack every morning!
is there any way to make the default alarm use a progressive increasing sound from silent to loud?
PS, i love the simple stock clock, I dont want to install another clock app just for this...
and besides, why isnt this option a default? i'm no expert but it seems easy enough to program isnt it?
thanks.
Hi there,
I have a Lumia 735, which is great, but I miss a feature:
A slowly increasing volume for the alarm.
Would it be possible to extract the predefined alarm tones and edit these (fade in effect)?
Has someone done this already?
Has anyone noticed in WP10 the same behaviour, or is there an improvement?
The built-in Alarms app already gradually increases volume, or at least it's supposed to. I haven't checked WP10 but I wouldn't expect that to have changed.
In my case this is not working. The alarm is not rising. It starts loud, and stays on this level.
Maybe I should try a different alarmtone (using "Spieluhr" in german, maybe called "musical clock" or "musical box" in english).
There are some alarm apps in store, which have lots of features, fading volume included. Personally, my favourite is Gentle Alarm Clock Lite, just search it and try.
Freshly installed Pie.
There is alarm clock setup and two hours before there is icon in the notification area and random sounds (like new message received).
Also found out those random notification sounds even when there is no notification or if there is viber message notification - few random sounds will repeat after.
I did not face those issues previously when Pie was installed as upgrade on top of Oreo, but newly installed creates problem.
p.s. I'm still pissed off from Novatek bad display so I hope I can get rid of this device
+1 also got random notifications without there beeing one.
I think it could be related to the option display ambient with the option turn on periodically
@Rubens95 - true.Amazing to put it in Display-Ambient-New notifications - repeat every 2 minutes.
Thanks.
Now one issue is left - random notifications without any even, but they are rare and not so annoying.
Cheers

It seems HMD Global finally found the killer app, but unfortunately it is killing other apps!
https://dontkillmyapp.com/nokia?1
Nokia on Android P kills any background process including sleep tracking (or any other sport tracking) after 20 minutes if the screen is off. Also when killed all alarms are stopped which renders for example any alarm clock apps useless.
This is not my work...
Found this from a AdroidPolice article
DontKillMyApp.com shames OEMs that needlessly kill useful background processes to save battery life
After killing this app, now Google Fit and all other notifications and alarms work again. Yeeeee!
That's bad reputation from their side. Disappointing.
But my issue was the 'Ambient Display' - anyway thanks for sharing.
Hey all, just picked up a mi 11 ultra, coming from a OnePlus 7pro. I have plus beat on my 7pro to show me on screen notifications from sms, email etc... Trying to find something that works on the Mi11 ultra, so far I've tried plus beat and AOE but I can't seem to get either to work. AOE will do a notification one time, but won't repeat after 5-20 seconds after the initial notification.... Anyone else attempting this, or have found a solution to have screen notification reminders?
I'm using Glimpse Notifications:

Very good app, many configuration options available, no battery drain.
Anyway, Plus Beat for Oneplus 7Pro is unbeatable, Xiaomi is missing the Ambient Display...
Perfect, thanks I'll give that a shot!
Thanks that works, not nearly as nice as plus but will do the trick, hopefully the pocket detection works...
I don't get why this isnt implemented into phones as an option... Repeat notifications
