Anybody have a T830 by chance??? - Off-topic

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in developing an utility for a Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket Loox T830...*feels everyone in the room staring at him*
I know this is XDA-developers and not Fujitsu-Siemems-developers, but I come from firstloox.org and for some reason I'm not really getting any response on this idea so I'm just looking around to see if I can maybe find someone that would be interested in this.
Basically, I want to develop a utility that allows the user to customize the toggle/button functions of the T830's jog dial, per program. Not sure if or how this could be done. For example, I could change the amount of pixels the jog dial scrolls so if I'm in Opera I have it set to scroll 50 px at a time, but if I'm reading an ebook or a word document I have it set to 200 px or a page at a time. You could also expand on this with the button functionality of the jog dial.
As for the scrolling part of it... I just figured it could be setup to import an EXE path, then once its selected you could type the amount of pixels in an input box and hit apply. The button customization I'm not really sure of. Any idea's would be appreciated. Thanks.

if you find something I´m interesting in build new customable firmwares for loox T too. i remember, as Loox T was in deployment, there was 4 steps neccersary to upgrade the flash rom. must have a look, to find this old files. (backward engeeniering...
;-)

I have a T830 too and I'd love to see it with WM6 running

Sorting Order of TF3D toolbar

Hi,
I'm using 1.37 German non-branded (genuine HTC) and I would like to re-order the toolbar in order to ease acessibility according to my favorite useage. The HKLM ... HTCHome is nonexistant in 1.37. Any new ideas?
Furthermore, the LEAST thing I'm interested in is YouTube. Any idea how to get rid of the entry in browser favorites? Regular favorites seem to start BEHIND the youtube link.
Thanks
Susan
I'm afraid I'm the only one having the problem? No one else?

Remote Desktop (german)

Hi,
I'm looking for the Remote Desktop (in german)... somebody has an idea where I find?
Thank you very much

Hi,
ich suche den Remote Desktop auf Deutsch... hat jemand einen Idee wo ich den herbekommen?
Vielen Dank
I got one preinstalled on my Touch Pro (probably from the OEM), but it is stored in the ROM. Pretty impossible to extract the exe from it; see here why.
For me, this sounds like too much work. But for you this means at least: There is a german version out there!

TF3D Question to customize - VOiP / Home Screen / TF3D

To the developers/Guru's and anyone interested in helping
I wanted to see if I could customize my touchflo comm manager a little more than I found with what trojan9x has. Thanks trojan9x since I would not know where to start this process at. Right now have a reg key (string) set to open up my sip config tool when i press the ip phone option (not the on/off switch). The on/off doesnt seem to do anything that I can see (i have no reg value associated with it) right now. I wanted to have it go into Settings-->Phone-->Internet tab if possible. So I just need to know where that internet tab is located in windows.
Eventually I would like to put the same "internet calling" option to come up on the TF3D screen so I Don't have to disable TF3D and re-enable everything to make an internet call or check the status for that matter. Maybe i'm taking the wrong approach here. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I also search exactly this!
Also im TF3D.
Danke

Close Programs with X - Registry Settings

Hi Everybody,
I am still searching for the right registry setting to implement the following:
I want to close the programs by tapping on "x" rather than minimize them.
Well I know that it is possible to set it manually, but I'm searching for a registry tweak, which I can set i. e. by a script.
I hope you'll understand me an my english
So to be on the safe side I'll explain it in german:
Hi Leute,
If I was near my phone I'd do this myself but... To find this kind of thing out, I usually do a registry dump, then change the setting, then do another registry dump and compare the two files.
Hi there,
thx... but I'm not firm in doing such a dump... Could you give me a hint - maybe a link - for a program to do a dump?
Neverthereless I would be thankful if anybody has THE Reg-Key
thx a lot
Hi guys...
I've got the solution:
HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager -> EnableTapAndHold DWORD = 0
You have to set this value to reach the goal
thx for all comments and suggestions.

Beginners tips and help

Hi,
sorry if this has been asked before.
My MDA compact V (td2) should be coming tomorrow, and it is the first winmo that i will have. I havent got a clue what to expect, cuz videos and pictures only tell you so much about a mobile OS.
So im just basically asking for any help/tips/advice on what i should do with it to begin with. like what software should i install, what screen protector, how to charge the battery etc.
Ive heard that you need to charge a battery right the first time you get a phone, otherwise it will never be the same? any advice on this?
Any help, not just about the above, would be appreciated.
thanks
I'd like to have some tips aswell ! =)
I've got a Compact V after years of having SE and Nokia handsets.
Id say the only difference is the way the phone settings work. You can change some settings with TF3D, but for more advanced settings, you have to use the WM interface which is similar to Control Panel in windows.
You will get a screen protector in the box along with a a pLeather case, you MUST get the screen protector right the first time. Its quite rigid so can handle being applied and taken off, but the moment you get a fingerprint or speck of dust on it, its over. You just get horrendous huge bubbles underneath and you end up taking it off. Just wash your hands before you peel it off its backing and try and get it right the first time.
I'd say have a look at the wiki here -
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Topaz
This was my first winmo phone too, I'd say they are fairly user friendly and easy to get to grips with. Just have a good play around with it and you'll likely get a feel for it fairly quickly.
Once you get to know it a bit, you may want to customise it - well, you will want to! Max TF3D Theme Maker is great for this. There's a wealth of apps and games out there too, but this site is my main source for any add-ons I want or general info.
Cheers
Chris
Thank you for the advice, its appreciated.
I cant get my phone till monday now cuz the guy came while i was out, so i missed the delivery .
But i will definitely try out everything that has been suggested, first thing i will do is wash my hands, and get the screen protector right, cuz i know that will annoy me no end if i get that wrong and then after about a day or two, im positive i will be customising the phone like crazy to see what can be done.
Thanks again for the advice.
The only thing I miss about having an S60 phone was the Nokia PC Suite. Everything you ever needed was in one package. (Phonebook editing/send texts/transfer files/backup/restore your contents/internet sharing/convert music/Sync files and media/update firmware/install apps)
With WM you have to use ActiveSync which only handles a tiny portion of the above, the rest there is software available to download, but it was more convenient to have it all there in one place.
The Compact V ROM is good, but it obviously geared towards directing you towards their pay services like Mobile TV and Jukebox meaning you get a couple of useless extra tabs in the TF3D but you can remove these if you want. You also might have some issues installing some of the tweaks and apps from xda-dev as they were all designed for the HTC ROM. Stuff like the facebook fix doesnt work.
The main downside to the compact v rom is you do not get the youtube app. You can view youtube by using the m.youtube.com like from the tmobile homepage, but the quality is horrendous. It uses the inbuilt Streaming Media Player and the video is in 3gp format meaning it looks like its been taped off a 1.3mp cameraphone and the sound is awful.
I ended up downloading HardSPL which in effect unlocks your phone meaning you can put any ROM on there, and then downloaded the official HTC ROM that ships with the D2 and flashed that to the handset.
I now have the official youtube client and the video and sound quality is flawless
Here's some of the software I installed :
Core player - video playback that supports any format
Max TF3D Theme Maker - customise user interface
Sporty Pal - GPS tracking software
e-Natives Showcase - task manager
Nitrogen - music playback
Pocketscreen - screen capture program
Resco Explorer - file manager/explorer
Total Commander - same as above (can't remember how I ended up with both, I don't actually use Total Commander all that much)
Soft reset / shutdown app from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535121&highlight=soft+reset
Pocket Uno - great game
There's other stuff, too, that comes with the ROM (stock or otherwise) - google maps, that king of stuff.
The GPS tracking facility is great, I use that a lot. I had a BlackBerry that had this functionality, but there's so much software available for winmo platform, it rocks. And a shed load of free stuff, too.
If you are new to WinMo I always tell people to treat it like Windows (if you use that on your PC), they are essentaillly identical - and just as frustrating to use.
I use WinMo myself so I'm not bashing it it is just a mindset.
Remember to soft reset whenever things go flaky - and they will.
Then you can start troubleshooting - unfortunate but that's the way it is.
Cheers
i recommend the following apps.
CorePlayer (video playback)
Nitrogen (audio playback)
Facebook
Beejive (msn etc)
WiFi Monster (wifi manager)
Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3 (extended config for the topaz)
NoData (toggles data connections so you don't accidentally run up a huge bill)
PocketRAR (winrar for topaz)
Signal (control winamp from your phone, really great app, responsive and easy to use)
Resco Explorer (file manager)
oh btw. you dont need to be so careful with screen protector. if you get it dirty just wash it with soap. you can aply it best while its little wet. if you see any white spots under screen thats water and will dry in a day or two.
I hate to say this but I would read through this forum and learn to use the search. When I started I hated that advice but it really is worth doing. There's a response to almost any question here and given the Topaz room is reasonalbly small compared to say the Diamond one, there's a far bigger chance you'll find what you are looking for quickly.
I've only been here for a few months and have learnt everything from this forum. Searching means you'll stumble upon other posts containing information you can apply too (eg Opera updates, theme's add-ons etc). I also cook my own ROMs now, something I didn't think would be possible when I first started.
You did ask for a tip
yea just use search-funktion to get more infos about specific programs... .

I wouldnt have called that a good tip if you just left it at that first sentence, but because you gave good examples, like the opera updates, and cooking ROMs, shows what I can learn once i start reading through the forum properly.
I just needed a few beginning tips cuz i wanted to be prepared quickly before my phone arrived. Now it has, in a few days il start searching properly and learning more on my own, but couldnt have done it without the advice given so far in this thread.
Thanks to everyone else who has posted aswell, the advice is well appreciated.

Just wondering, did you get your htc rom from their website or did you use one of the stock roms from this website. As some of the ones on this site say they're from asia, and the rest say unknown, so dont know which one to flash my phone with.
Also, did you backup your stock rom, or do you just use one from here if u ever need to go back to it? thanks
I suggest to all beginners to spend some time to get acquainted to their new device.
As their new device is running a stock ROM, I suggest the following (revisiting an older post of mine):
1) Install Resco Explorer
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp
2) Install all HTC hotfixes for Diamond 2
(http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=249&act=sd&cat=0)
3) Install .NET Framework 3.5 (requirement for a bunch of 3rd party software)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en
4) Install SKTools (needed for many things but especially for next step)
http://www.s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_products.html#tools
5) Use SKTools to disable ActiveSync (results in huge improvement of battery duration)
5a) Disable the repllog.exe (which is the application behind ActiveSync) associated with ""AppRunAfterTimeChange"" in Notifications Queue
Alternative way is to install Dotfred's Task manager and kill repllog.exe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3175757&postcount=50
5b) Follow the steps 1-7 in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288352
5c) Install eLiAs_ASyncKiller.cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3048077&postcount=40
6) Install HDTweak for various tweaks (eg for improvement of TouchFlo response)
7) Install sdkcerts (needed for "cosmetic" interventions eg Hall Feica fonts in TouchFlo, slpashscreens, topbar etc)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471604
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3661976&postcount=80
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3861405&postcount=2
8) Install Diamond D3D Video drivers using the first attachment from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475493&highlight=ATI+3d+driver
Before installation download and run the fourth attachment (Lights.exe)
Install the drivers and then run Lights.exe again to see the huge improvement
9) Install G-Config (for forcing applications to go into landscape mode)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3848546&postcount=3
10) Install CleanRAM (for reclaiming back some RAM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333
12) Install PIM Backup (for Backing up Contacts, Calendar, Messages etc)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
13) Enjoy your Topaz
After feeling that you have understood the philosophy how your Topaz works, move on to a cooked ROM.
Cooked ROMs include many features, thus you don't have to follow all the 12 steps I described above.
Don't be overwhelmed by a ROM's looks. Choose stability over looks + new versions of cabs and TF3D. I recommend as a start the TESS 2.0 (+ its 2 fixes of GoogleMaps and Call History)
P.S.:
Backup your Contacts, Calendar etc frequently
Read a lot & don't post before you search
Cheers
Hi,
I've had the Diamond2 for a few days now.
Having turned off button sounds in Windows settings, I still get button sounds using the TouchFlo onscreen keyboard.
How can I turn off the keyboard sound?
