Looks neat... unfortunately the battery has been removed and therefore you can only see the hardware.
Apparently the back is not as glossy as with the Touch Diamond. Definitely a tribute for addressing business people...

By the way:
In this review following is mentioned:
[...] we were told that the Touch Pro will feature far better support for landscape display orientation [...]
This means that the TFL3D for Touch Pro has some differences compared to the Diamond I guess.

No way!

Grrr. I wish HTC hadn't come up with this thing and just left it at the Diamond. Makes my life so hard.
On the one hand, it has slightly better stats. Little more RAM/ROM... but... I'm coming from a 64MB RAM device anyway and it looks like custom ROMs are on the way to giving us more than enough free RAM on the Diamond.
There's the 50% bigger battery... but... there'll be bigger batteries for the Diamond, and more and more power issues are being resolved each day.
There's the keyboard which looks tons better than on my Hermes... but... I barely use it more than 5 mins a day, and I'm sick of such a fat device and the Diamond is oh so slim and sexy. But then, even the Pro is slimmer than my Hermes.
The camera has a flash... but... it's not a proper flash anyway and I don't take a great deal of photos where it would help anyway.
There's the useful MicroSD slot... but... I barely use all of the 1GB card in my Hermes.
It's coming later than the Compact IV... but... not so much later that it wouldn't be worth waiting for.
It's just not fair, too many choices!
EDIT: And now it looks like it might be coming about the same time the Compact IV is released? AARRGHH!!

Touch Pro only I believe.

well, folks. support for "HTC video out" is present in the registry if you look. I see no reason why video out is not an option for Diamond owners. you would need HTC video out cable of course.

XD I was soooo close... but then I resisted the dark side of the force
My current phone is 1,4mm thinker than the PRO... so I should be fine... although it looks quite bulky right next to the Diamond. But who cares if you get flash, battery, mircoSD slot, more ROM/RAM and a keyboard with it...
And maybe it comes earlier than expected
BTW: I fully support the request for a HTC Touch PRO ROM-developement sub-forum. General and accessories could be merged to a PRO/Diamond forum since everything is so similar.

Here is one comparison shot taken from phonescoop.com.
I took the side area of the Touch Diamond placed it over the Touch Pro (red area). Doing this gives a good impression how much more thickness the Pro adds to the Diamond layout. It actually does not appear that bulky anymore... I guess the Diamond simply is that slim

i've running Quake 3 on my HTC Diamond with bepe 0.53. Got only 1 FPS, but it runs. I think there is no HW-Driver for OpenGL.
Is our Diamond slow like my old XDA Orbit 2?

o wow, hmmm i'm sure there is a way to get the game running smoothly just that it needs to be able to utilise the on-board GPU... this is not my area of expertise but there is almost always a way ...

i dont think the quake 3 port is even gonna make 5 FPS in the far future.

guys a tryed the game on my old touch dual im getting 3 FPS in a wide area and in a smole area getting 5 FPS
the game need hardware keys like
fire = green botton
start (menu) = camera button (you need this for exiting the game)
its not playable
but you can show it to your friands and they will say

What about running Doom?
My old Nokia 7710 could run doom it was pretty cool.

heretic and hexen ports no longer exist, no avaible for download anywhere. Hexen I still have, but can only run in portrait, but i really want heretic.
trust me, ive done lots of googling, and yahooing! lol.

i've done small modifications to get this game running on my diamond. only 1 FPS is very strange, but there are no graphic-bugs or something. Its high quality and on this fantastic display it looks like a photoshop rendered image. sharp, sharper, diamond =)
i will shot some fotos and upload my hole package.

Can you give us your modified quake 3

oh ! excuse me, I didn't read your last sentence

his version is not modified, just the same old version, I think it works the same as with the o2 xda flame, just deletel the supplied libgles_cm, and the game need to make use of the one in the windows folder!
donwload the non accel one 1.1(b), the axim version will look for the libgles_CL.
btw on flame I get on average 15 fps with high quality settings

Haha, Q3.. would be fun to bring togeather a couple of friends with the diamond and play q3 multiplayer on the phones.. he he.
Btw, got Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island 1 /2 up and running using scummvm.
And some other oldschool games with the help of pocet version of dosbox.
Brings back some good old memories

Is it anybody here that tried to hardmod thier phone? With this is mean changing the hardware or adding hardware?
I will start to experiment with my HTC ELF as soon as I buy a new phone, just when im bored... would be fun to know if somebody done something similar to thier phone?

I added a Purple Led into my Hermes, to tell me when i have a text. If that counts... then i guess i "Hard Modded" My phone.

I have seen a fellow from India hard solder a RUIM slot and get it working on a CDMA titan and someone else soldered a full size SD slot on to their touch pro to take advantage of a 32gb sdhc card.
Sure people who are crazy hardmod their phones

I mean wouldn't be fun if everybody who hardmodded thier phone write exactly what they did so us "crazy" people that have a phone without use of it could try to mod it?
Maybe increasing RAM, adding LED lights whatever that makes the phone funnier!

Nice bro, just be carefull so you dont mess it up! I takes alot of time and testing.... I had three PSP devices, one old fat that I made the mod on and two slim ones in white and black.. So I didn't really care if the fat one broke.. I wish you good luck!

When i get a new phone, I have plans to install a couple infared led's on my fuze for night veiwing. Ive wanted to hardwire the dongle it came with in it for a permanent 3.5mm jack. That shouldn't be hard to do.

However, I am planning to have it modified soon. I just need to find somebody who know how to do that-- someone that can be trusted

Is putting a MDA V into a diamond 2 housing "hard-modding"??
I did that, but consider that myself as a minor mod.
The people in the HTC Universal forums did a really impressive and cool hard-mod:
Adding RAM to their devices which made their 256 MB RAM into 512 MB..
Now that is a cool mod!

One time... at band camp... I took my TI-83+ silver edition calculater and added the small leds from an old hess truck and detailed the battery door to look like an engine bay! pretty sweet set up in math class, the only kid with an underglow kit on his car... I mean calculater! lol

The looks of it are not a good reason for buying it.
Remember your X1 xperiance with the original Sony ROM??
Furthermore, the X2 will not be build by HTC, so don't expect support for it on XDA.

Oh right... I love my X1... but I have to see the positive things about this "X2"..
- the keyboard looks mmhhh... eerhh... nice.. looks like it will be easier to type.. (let's face it.. it's nice to type in the X1 with its sexy keyboard.. but it could be better).
- Is there a D-Pad?? (with buttons?) I can only see Optical mouse.. for me.. it's better with physical buttons (because of games).
-Looks like it will have a bigger screen... but.. I really love the small size of the X1.. a bigger screen means a bigger phone..
- Design... well.. X2 doesn´t look bad (c'mon)... but the X1 looks even better..
-Will the screen tilt?? (for me it's really not necesary to tilt the screen).

the only thing i can't wait on this phone is the ROM

I highly doubt this mate. One phone will not kill off a company of their size, lets be realistic. Im sure it will be a lot better than the X1, just wait a bit longer and stop moaning.

My excalibur, that I still proudly use .They always ask me..."What BB are U using", can you imagine that!

The best is what works & feels good to You! Do you want Android, WM, Big screen, GPS, etc......
