I tried to locate a thread describing how to get this running.
I choose WPA-PSK (which I assume still supports WAP2-PSK, right?)
My Wizard offers only TKIP as crypt option.
It seems to detect the WLAN - at least it reports it as available,
but does not connect.
Thanks for your hints!

same problem here,
did you found a solution yet?
It seems the hardware has to support AES encryption.
I havnt found any hints for my DELL AXIM X50 yet and will have a hit on a wm6 mod update to see if it helps.

I know I am probably the millionth person to ask for help but here goes. I installed the 2.17 ROM on my Cingular 8125 (yes I CID unlocked). I have seen others post that LEAP authentication is included in the 2.17. Perhaps I am missing something but I don't see it. I am trying to connect to a server that authenticates with LEAP (this uses a dynamic WEP). Is there any ROM update out there that has LEAP or is LEAP only a Cisco technology? I appreciate all the work you guys do!

Funny you mention that - I was just cracking open some of the cab files in the latest ROM and one of them appears to disable LEAP. Let me look into this more and get back to you. I don't use LEAP, so if I find something to try you'll have to let me know how it works out.
Leap?
What the hell is LEAP? or Dynamic WEP? Sounds like a Cisco proprietary wireless thing, I'm more into things like WPA w/ Radius Authentication, or WPA Pre Shared Key (PSK) for simple users. Before that, WEP 128 w/ MAC filtering as well on a private subnet then you'd vpn into the main network.
I'm not sure about any of the other ROMs, but I'm on the 2.17 / 2.23 AKU2.2 ROM that Summiter put out last Friday, and when I go into the Wireless Lan settings, there is a tab called "LEAP". I don't have anything to test that it works, but it looks like the option is there. Hope this helps in some way.
I am running Summiters 2.17 w/ CF2,AD2P,etc. and I also have a LEAP tab in my wifi settings. Likewise, I have no hardware to test if it works, but it's there.
Thanks for the feedback. I see no such tab. Perhaps I installed something incorrectly.
I recently updated my ROM to the custom AKU 2.2 that summiter released. I now have a LEAP tab in my "Wireless LAN" options. I am able to connect to the internet using the LEAP option. However, though the phone says I am connected via WiFi, I am unable to browse using Internet Explorer. I keep receiving an error message that says "Connection was lost" when clearly my connection is stable. Also, I get the same message when I try to connect to anything via WiFi (not just a LEAP authenticated server). Pehaps this goes back the the cab file issue summiter mentioned. Is anyone else experienceing WiFi issues with the new ROM?
I tried to search the forums for this answer, but found nothing and started my own thread.
Question: Is it possible to connect to WPA2-E with the tilt? There is no feature on the wireless settings, and I didn't know if it even had the capability or if it was a software issue.
Backstory: I'm trying to connect to my school's wifi and the tech people here said they didn't have the ability to allow smartphones to connect via wifi. I connect fine with a laptop but can't mimic then on the tilt.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried opening up the "WiFi" settings and enrolling? With WPA2-E, you need the certificate first...
There is no WPA Enterprise available within the Microsoft WM6 OS. This is no fault of HTC (for the flamers on this forum) so we will have to wait for an MS update!!

Do you know if it might be included in 6.1?

There are protocol conflicts at the moment because all providers at the conference table have different draft-n situations.
TKIP is totally screwed whereas AES is working reasonably at the moment.
When we get a totally confirmed 'n' format then Encryption will automatically fall into place!
This then needs MS to accept and implement!
Just wait and hope is all I can say!!!

is there some kind of 3rd party software that could hold me over?
It (my school) uses wpa2-enterprise security type and AES encryption type with a PEAP authentication method.
Hi group,
I have the problem, that I cannot save my HTTP proxy settings permanently. Up to now I thought it was related to my T-Mobile brand, but after a firmware upgrade I found, that this must be a problem of the HTC itself. I'm now back on HTC original firmware, and still unable to keep the HTTP proxy settings saved. After hitting OK everything seems to be OK, but with the next opening of the settings the HTTP proxy setting is lost from the connection.
I should have googled before updating: The Google query "HTC proxy" brings tons of unresolved similar problem descriptions.
I have searched this forum but didn't find anything about this.
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix? Will WM 6.1 be a solution?
Regards
Ohh I get the same problem. I don't bother with the wifi connection that requires the proxy settings and just use HSDPA now. Running wm6.1, will give it a go on monday to see if 6.1 fixes the problem.
Hi stevierg,
no it doesn't unfortunately. I flashed dutty's WM6.1. The only change: The setting is kept under some circuumstances (WiFi adapter is connecting to "the work"), but is now not recognized at all... The internet access simply doesn't care...
It is rediculous: MS has - from the very first PDA version - that brain sick "The Work/The Internet" split up and they don't get a simple proxy configuration cooked, even in version 6.1. Unbelievable...
On the other hand - I tend to believe, that it must have to do with the specialilities of the HTC rom. I've got an ASUS device with WM6 too, and there is no such a problem...
Strange
Possibly found a solution

Hello,
I had Windows Mobile 6 on my Kaiser, and I had a problem with connecting
to a PEAP secured network. So, I upgraded to official WM 6.1, because
I thought it would solve the problem. But it didn't.
My question is, do the cooked ROMs solve the problem with wifi and a secured
network? (The problem that it says "Cannot log on to the wireless network.
This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you".)
I have read the wikis about how to flash a new ROM, HardSPL... But I am very
new in this field, and could someone help me a little for me not to break
anything?
I would be very thankful...
Is there an option in WM 6.1 to disable the use of certificates?
Have a fix!
I don't know if any cooked ROM specifically fixes this, that would be up to the developer.
But lucky for you - I eventually was able to track down a fix for this. There's a registry key you have to add, and all is well after that.
Check here:
xda thread for the Hermes - works the same for Kaiser
Hope that helps.

I added a new DWORD Value named "ValidateServerCert", gave it the value 0,
turned off , and on the device, and it didn't work. Maybe I do something wrong?
Thanks!
I'm a noob here. Got my tilt about a week ago and have successfully unlocked it thanks to developers here.
My phone came with WM6.0 and worked great, wifi had no problems connecting to any available network.
I then flashed the HyperDragon IV ROM. Everything worked just fine, except wifi wouldn't connect. I've since tried both the official at&t and HTC ROMs with no success.
This is what is happening....
The phone recognizes my wireless network, i enter the correct password and it says "connecting" but never actually connects. It just keeps saying "connecting."
On the "Wireless Lan" settings page the signal quality switches from no signal to partial signal every second.
Also, the server-assigned ip address always reads "fe80::218:41:ff:fe7". Before upgrading to a 6.1 ROM this wasn't the case.
I've tried multiple hard and soft resets, different ROMs and Radios.
I've always set the Wireless Lan settings to performance mode.
The next thing I'll try is to find a flash back to a WM6.0 ROM since that is the only time wifi has worked.
I'm currently using ROM version 3.57.502.2 WWE
radio version 1.65.21.18
and hard spl3.29
I'd really appreciate any suggestions. I've searched and searched the forum and have found somewhat similar situations, but none of those suggestions have made a difference.
Thanks in advance.
Maybe you must try with other Radio ROM version?
thanks, but i've tried a few different ROM and Radio combinations to no avail.
I can't seem to find a download for an HTC or at&t WM6.0 Rom, can anyone guide me or offer more suggestions on my above problem.
Have you tried the obvious things like temporarily disabling security on your router? And you don't have any type of filtering setup on your router that might be denying an address to your Kaiser? Or ensuring you have the right keyboard mapping if you're typing in a WEP/WPA key using the hard keyboard? If you enter the admin page of your router can you see the device connected, or see it attempting to connect in your logs?
If it's not something obvious and you think it's ROM related you might read through the thread for that ROM. If there's nothing posted about WiFi issues then chances are it's NOT the ROM. Or maybe if you pose the question there someone using that ROM may be able to assist based on their experience.
Good luck!
