Email received notification using WIFI - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

I would like to use my XDA2i to receive emails using WIFI.
I have manage to get the device connected using wifi and can download emails no problem.
I have scheduled the device to auto connect and download the emails every 1 minute and also every 5 minutes.
I have set the notifications to play sound, flash light and display a message.
My problem is this-
If I have the device set to auto download emails and the today screen is showing when I send an email to my self using the PC the email is received on the XDA and the "no unread messages" changes to "pop 1 unread message" but there are no sounds or notifications. Next time the device checks for emails (after 1 minute) the notifications work ok. So, the sounds don't play when an email is downloaded they play the next time the email is checked.
I have tried searching the forum but failed to find a solution.
This is very frustrating, I hope someone can help.

No more notification or text messages. Need help

Recently I'm no longer able to receive text message or email notifications. I can send text messages and browse the internet (with and without wifi) I can still read my emails but I don't get any notifications that I have them.
The larger problem is that I don't receive text messages any more. I also dont get anything from SpinVox (doesn't turn my voice mails into text anymore. Also dont get notifications for my voice mail)
The problem start around when I updated from Cyanogenmod 4.2.14.1 to 4.2.15.1 but I don't think that is the problem. As I think I could still receive texts for a little while.
Thanks for the help.
If I go into settings -> data sync it says gmail, calender, contacts were all last synced on the 21st. Which seems about right when my texts stopped working. If I unselect, then reselect, the sync icon appears but nothing happens it just sits there.(Still doesn't report that I have emails, even thought at the time I did)

[Q] Software bug?

Think I've found a bug with the Gnote.
I have 2 email accounts on my Gnote and have set different notification tones for each of them. I have downloaded the Zedge App and set another notification tone for my text messages......
Now, if I receive an email in my google mail account, I get a notification sound to let me know, followed seconds later by a notification to tell me I have a new text message!!!! I even get the "M" symbol appear in the notification bar at the top of the Gnote screen. Needless to say, I do not have any new text messages when this happens!!
I have tried all sorts to stop this by resetting notifications etc and starting again but I can replicate the problem by cleaning out my google mail account and sending myself another mail. The first new mail into the google mail account triggers the effect. I thought I had stopped the problem by turning off all email notifications but this was a false positive. Later in the evening I got a new text message notification, only to find out it was actually a new email in my google ail account again.
This is driving me bonkers as I am expecting an important text message at the mo.
Am I missing something in the settings, or is this a genuine fault?

[BUG] Productivity lockscreen don't show SMS

Hi,
So I think it's bug, I choose the productivity lockscreen and check
messages
email
calendar
But when I receive a sms, it show notification on top bar, the little (1) number on dock message icon, but the sms is not displayed as it should be on lockscreen.
The meetings and emails from my work's exchange server are correctly displayed.
Does someone have a clue?
I use the stock rom not root or unlocked.
Try this go to message settings notification and tick display on screen see if that wo
Same for me. It displays only
calendar events
mails from stock email app
but not
sms from stock messages app
mails from gmail app
whatsapp messages
At least for SMS I think this is a bug, GMail and WhatsApp probably don't use the Sense API at all and won't get displayed unless a future version does. Very unlikely though for GMail.

Click to collapse
It corrected the problem, but after 20 min, the same problem appears again, the checkbox was uncheck again. That's a little odd.
Is that a setting stored on the google account?
I re-check the boxes hope it last more than 20 min this time.
But thanks anyway.
I got this and fixed it by rechecking calendar. If Mail is clicked SMS won't work. No idea why. So it has to be events, SMS, and Cal.

Annoying Gear/Gmail Notification Update

Please ignore, I just noticed that this is being discussed with the latest Gear update
With the latest Gear Manager update I get a request to access my Gmail account (I can live with that), but now I receive notifications for EVERY incoming e-mail and not just for my primary inbox as it was in the past. I often don't read notification e-mails and every time I get a new message I get reminded for EVERY unread message on my Gear (vibrates on and on and on).
Does someone know how to revert back to the old notification style or find this update also extremely annoying?
Silly question but how did you set it up to give notifications for Gmail. When I try through gear manager the option is greyed out in the extra notifications section.
Tia
Edit - that's weird I just tried again and now the option is available.

Major issue with delayed push notifications

I have been experiencing delayed notifications on my Note 9, mainly with Facebook Messenger, but it applies also to the Line messenger app and Outlook, so it's not confined to one app. It's probably just that I use Messenger often, so notice it more with Messenger
The symptoms are a random and sometimes very long delay between sending a message and receiving a notification, measured in minutes to hours. Sometimes, I'll receive a bunch of notifications from multiple apps when opening the screen.
Other times, even opening the screen does not cause me to receive notifications. I can be actively using the phone and there will still be a random delay on notifications.
For example, I was using my phone earlier to web browse and my girlfriend sent me a message. I did not get a notification. After 30 minutes, she called and asked me why I was not reading her message. Opening the messenger app, I saw the message there (as well as the time at which it was sent) and about one minute later the notification came in.
Similarly, I can be using the phone and someone will video call me on Messenger. I don't get a notification until I actually open the app (I know this since my other phone that has the Messenger app installed on it rings, so I know I have an incoming call).
I can test notification delay by using one account from a computer to send a message to the account linked to my phone, so I know exactly when the message was sent. But the notification delay, even while using the phone actively, is still present and measured in minutes to hours, whereas the other phone receives the notification immediately.
It is NOT doze mode at fault. I have explicitly disabled ALL battery optimizations as well as turning off doze mode with ADB at boot time.
It's not bluetooth, even though some users in other threads have pointed to bluetooth being at fault.
I have cleared cache, uninstalled all updates for Google Play Services and Google Play and reinstalled them.
The phone itself seems capable of receiving push notifications correctly. I can use the push notification tester app to setup a high priority notification for, let's say 10 minutes from now. Then I shut the screen. After 5 minutes, I send a message to my phone with Facebook Messenger. No notification is received for this message.
After 10 minutes, the Push Notification Tester app triggers its notification correctly, which is received immediately. And then shortly afterwards, the notification comes in from Facebook Messenger.
Clearing cache and data on Messenger doesn't make any difference, and as I said in the first paragraph, it does not appear to be the app, since other apps are affected.
This is driving me crazy. I miss out on messages and important emails.
Is anyone aware of any solution to this problem? I just see a whole bunch of snake oil remedies on the net, but no real solution.
It appears to be something that might be related to notification priority, judging by the behaviour of the Push Notification Tester app, but this is just speculation on my part
