I have to go abroad very often (Africa, India, Asia) Sometimes I need bigger files (Powerpoint, Word) from my company back home and its impossible to send this files via email. So I'm planing to buy a premium account for filesharing.
But I saw in different threads that some guys are havng troubles downloading files from rapidshare, especially from Southafrice.
Does anybody know how rapidshare and megaupload works in Africa, India, Asia and the Arab countries?
Well in my personal opinion
In India Megaupload really sux.... I preffer Rapidshare....
yep, definitely rapidshare
im from england but have been to india recently with my macbook,i have both accounts in premium and believe me megaupload is really really slow, its ok during the day in the uk though
I heard the same about Egypt, megaupload always says "all slots for your country are full" or something like this. So I will stick to rapidshare. What a pity, I prefer megaupload
I've just started to use G-mail, cant stand Rapidshare......drives me nuts
I've heard MegaUpload limits connections from countries outside the US, so if you are in a place like Africa or India, you may get a message like "connection limit reached for your location."
cause USA and megaupload sux.
Have you heard of Yousendit? They have various accounts which may be good for you. http://www.yousendit.com/

Thanks everybody for the replies, especially nothin for the list.
Great list !! Thanks 'nothing'
And yes, I second that "megaupload sucks in India"(slots are always full)
Infact, till now, I have never been able to download a single file from megaupload
Filefront.
1GB limit, no idiotic wait times.
Good uptime, good download speed.
USA doesn't suck! It rocks *****!

Guys, this waiting time annoys me and i was searching ways to bypass that but then my friend told me such more easier method to download files of different sizes without waiting using search engine of filetram.com. So i am sharing it with you to prevent buying premium accounts etc. peace!
4Shared is a great alternative, or even Google Docs as you can upload files up to 1GB in size, which is bigger than most allow iirc.

@OP, how big is the presentation? I suggest trying out dropbox and/or GDocs.
Because the best things in life are free.
For everything else, there's cash.
Easely dropbox. No discussion.

Is it possible to upload the ROM's to 4shared or some sort?
Rapidshare is becoming slower and slower each day now.. 29 kb/sec is like normal for RS.. (note: I've got 16 mbit/s) And lot's of people experience the same difficulties with RS.
So IF it's possible, please upload it to an other file storage...
thanks

beggers cant be choosers
i think the problem with that its that its more convenient to upload to rapid share etc where it is free etc. unless there is a host to get all these uploaded, well put it this way if i was a pro cooker like all of our chef's, i would go after the "FREE" technique haha.... no more is the way to go
Chef's post their ROMs on whatever site(s) they find most convenient. I prefer Rapidshare, but I also have a dedicated host provided by a user of my ROMs.
Hello there. I have free hosting for 1 year at lest. Which has 10 GB of space and 300 GB of bandwith for each month. I am not even using it so this would be perfect
~ This Would Be HTTP ONLY
I know there is an FTP but extra HTTP would be good one since I am not even using this account and have it paid for 1 year.
ROM makers if you are interested reply in this topic at least 1 rom maker so I can prepare it for you guys.
Cheers ~

I see the many benefits that this could bring but 300GB of bandwidth a month isn't nearly enough for what it would take to host a complete ROM library.
Sorry to burst your bubble

300GB is not enof
Today I have made what I think is an important decision.
I am an android user, and I like a lot of applications, free and non-free. I was using an application to change automatically my wallpaper (euforia free), with its limitations in the free version, and after testing it (it works ok for me) I checked that the paid version only costs 75 euro cents (1 dollar). I thought that maybe I could find it "using other way" but... hey, guys, 1 dollar! You can find that incredible amount of money just looking under your sofa. So I bought it. And after that, I bought the startup auditor, that costs another dollar. And after that, I decided that if I use an application, it runs with no problem and it's cheap... why not? It's not a problem to pay 1 dollar for a good application, and it's good for the developement.
I know it's a little silly to create a thread just to say that, but I only wanted to share my thoughts .
I always pay for Apps that i'm keeping.
It's nice to give back to the devs
(Just need pay versions for Angry Birds now)
I agree. I think it's important to purchase apps to help the poor souls who make them for us.
Besides, usually it's a dollar. For most who have smartphones in the first place, I can't imagine a dollar would be missed.
I think it would be great if every application had a free version, even if it's very limited, because I like to test any application a lot before keeping it, and most of them need more than 15 minutes to see if work properly or drain your battery.
...to handle this?
http://www.beetle.de/full/
The beetle in the URL refers to the German car variety, and it's currently eating 445MB of memory using IE8 on the work PC!
Pretty decent showcase for modern web standards, although you wouldn't have 250 browser tabs open at the same time loaded with pages like this!
325MB - Chrome - Ubuntu
Still the ugliest car ever
Ubuntu 11.10 here with Chrome. It did handle it, but i think i heard some screaming from the CPU. It did not enjoy that, and i think it would be better to test this in W7 and not in an OS that hates flash
Ok, enough with the excuses.
I'd love to see what effect this would have on a single-core machine with only 512MB of RAM, running IE6!
'This program is not responding...'?
Quick somebody try it on their phone....
EDIT 1: it's loading...!
EDIT 2: It's not looking good...
EDIT 3: Just changed Plug-ins setting to 'Always On. See what that does...
EDIT 4: Nah, it's too much for my poor N1 with stock Browser to contemplate
I wonder if any of the newer mobile Browsers like Opera's latest version, might be compliant? How about Turbo/Mini versions with server-side rendering? Anybody wanna have a bash and let us know?

Task Manager/Processes/iexplorer.exe or Chrome.exe etc. Look for the thread using a ton of memory!
If enough people using Opera Mini navigated to that page at the same time, do you think the Opera Servers would blow up?

Please, help me out guyz!
Thx in advance!
EDIT:
Currently Im looking on SkyDrive for 50$ = 100GBs 1year and MediaFire... do you have any experiences with some of those providers ?
Dropbox is the best

Personally I am using dropbox since 2010 and I am totally satisfied by their reliability and speed. If you have an Android phone or an iPhone it has a very nice integration with those OS's. You can also have a look at SkyDrive like you said or Google Drive maybe. I want to believe that both will be reliable and fast as well.

For now Im looking at dropbox, gdrive and SkyDrive...
Dropbox:
Works pretty good, Android, iOS, MAC, PC.. everything just fine. Online UI is perfect, but just one thing that kills me... 99$ = 100GB/year
Google Drive:
Google drive is not so bad, bud I had some bad expiriences with him. I was uploading over the site, and the site just get auto refreshes like gmail. And I didnt had the chance to upload any file The price for it is 60$ = 100GB/year // MAC,PC,ANDROID,IOS
SkyDrive:
Looking at it wright now... looking pretty nice and I can see people talking about it that its pretty good too. The price for it is 50$ = 107GB/year
MAC,PC,ANDROID,IOS
Anyone here had problems with this providers maybe ?
Thank you...

Well yeah dropbox is a bit expensive but it's universal as well, cause SkyDrive will always work better on a Windows Mobile Phone and Google Drive on an Android phone, but you will find dropbox working great in many platforms. SkyDrive is a new approach of Microsoft I also heard it's really fast and reliable so you are on a good path there
What about Mediafire ? anyone had experiences with this service ? Is it more like for simple uploads and stuff like ROMs... or is it good for Backups and stuff like that ?
