Got mine from Inkino, Tottenham Ct Rd (4th Sept)

Just to say I got it this morning and it is charging up now in preparation for some playtime...
Apparently it doesn't have the cube part of the touchflo interface as seen on the Touch. Can't say for def. yet as I haven't played.
Reckon that will come as an addon/update at some point?

Thanks. I very rarely have saved my money in time to get anything on the first day or so (except Vista which was a total waste of time), so I am particularly chuffed.

It doesn't have the cube, I'm sure it will appear as an "add-on" once the cooks here have a chance to experiment ;-)

Congrats, lucky U. Can't wait until I receive mine. Did you own Trinity? Can you describe how big is it or the difference with trinity is minimal ...w.r.t size and weight. Is it smaller than TyTn I ?? How does it feel in hand?

Me too, although they are charging £485.
Got a 4Gb microSD further down the road for £40 -- 30% over internet prices, but is sometimes too short. Inkino say that they will have 6Gb microSDs next week.

Mine comes this morning, I got it from www.devicewire.co.uk for £468.19 I cant wait untill i get my hands on it. i can finally retire my vario

You can already install the htc home screen on it. Is that what you meant by the cube or did you mean the spinning cube when you slide your finger over it?
If you need the home .cab ill post it for you or you can check the hermes forums.

well acctually i dont pay VAT as im outside the EU.....so its shipping an additional 30GBP

Well, I just learned that they do not ship internationnaly, aside from Benelx countries any longer. This due to the fact that they're, it seems, expanding abroad. Problem is they're starting with Spain and not the UK...

Tmobile MDA Vario III vs HTC TYTN II please help clear the air...

Hi there all, this is my first post and after a quick search (and please be aware that I suck at the search) I couldnt find any thoughts regarding if one version is better than the other... I am in china at the moment and my l7 is going tits up so I will be replacing it in about 12 hours and I want to get the TYTN II and have been offered the tmobile vario III as well... is there any major difference here or is one version as good as the other? thanks in advance for any help...

It's the same phone.. one just branded by t-mobile.

I disagree T-mobile one looks fugly..only thing thats better about it is that its cheaper lol.

~T-mobile one looks cheap. Vodafone is nicer .HTC is the best !

the tmobile branded kaiser is god awful ugly. wtf is wrong with tmobile. they completely **** up every phone they touch. looks wise anyway

Well at least the Vario III isn't half pink like my Vario I was! (which is also the reason I got a HTC version this time around )

Thanks for all the replies... Glad to know its just cosmetic and the functionality is still the same... I also prefer the HTC looks to the Tmobile... many thanks to all and off I got to get a new phone... woo hooooo....

Smart move. I would have picked up a Kaiser also but ****.. 400 for a tilt - 800 for a kaiser.. HMMM. Front VGA Cam.. whoopti doo. it isnt worth 400 bucks lol

Haha I can understand that I've been a very long time customer with T-Mobile and the store I got it both, so I got a really sweet deal, and in such a way it is complete tax-deductable so in the end I really didn't pay anything at all.
For once, I have been able to do something like that If the difference was $400 I am sure I would've gotten a branded one as well! Though do note that at the time I got it, the T-Mobile branded version wasn't out yet, so I didn't yet know if was half pink or not - which it is now clear it isn't.

Exactly, difference is just the price and for the tilt the front cam.
I ended up choosing between €229 for vario 3 of €549 for a unbranded HTC.
And the sneaky part was, the HTC had to be ordered, and the vario 3 was on stock in the store easy choice.. it isn't to bad after sugarcubing the T-Mobile logo.

Ok I have now just picked up my tmobile tytn/vario III/kaiser (depending on who you talk to)... they didnt have any HTC style phones at all where I am at and I went to a few mobile markets to look... so far really really really happy with my new toy... dammit I mean important piece of learning equipment (which is what I tell the wife )... I have just started playing with it and will now change the language to english before attempting any thing else... cheers all for the help...

You'll get used to things here pretty quickly. When I first registered, I was kinda overwhelmed as well but the people here at XDA are awesome and majority of the time they kindly help.
I got to the point where when I wake up, I check the Kaiser forum and the Kaiser Upgrading forum. A couple hours later I check again. Before I knew it, I was addicted to this site!

LOL... yeah I can see how that happens... I have been on here for about 7 hours so far just reading and trying to figure it all out... just did the hardspl thing and now to figure out how to get it to display english as well as Chinese which I gather cant be done unless you use some third party programs like CE Star or Monster Chinese etc... well getting english would be good for now...

just in case this hasnt been mentioned - i got rid of the tmobile branding on my uk mda vario III with a coin. very very simple, 2 mins work, just rubs off and hasnt left a single mark at all.
makes the phone look a million times nicer
dont be worried to do it uk users!

I am pretty ok with the tmobile branding... especially now that I have used it for a bit and seen what it can do... can you marry a phone...?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is real due to HTC saying it just missed getting 8gb into the first series of Diamonds by days by the time they released it. BUT, why would we hear about it first from a global distribution site as opposed to from HTC or the mobile phone rumor mills??

The same situation was with original Touch.
The original Touch was aprox a year old when new colours were anounced. Only when device surfaced(Elfin) increased memory was also discovered 128 ram/256 rom as opposed to 64 ram/128 rom on original touch(Elf).
Maybe the same tning will happen with Diamond.

I don't know but we'd first have to find someone willing to crack open their Diamond. I would definitely be willing to go through the upgrade process, but I'm not willing to be the guinea pig of trying to open my phone.

I bought a cheap G1 in fair condition with a cracked screen with the intentions of replacing the housing and screen and giving it to someone. I found the service manual, and it's COMPLICATED!!!!!!!!!!! MY GOSH! Does anyone have any experience taking apart the G1?

Find the screws and take them out It's not difficult to take apart a phone.

the part after taking the screws out (detaching the case) is hella hard , i even cracked the case ... youll need a few (very)thin plastics to stop it from snapping back as you loosen all the sides and ull need a flat-bladed screwdriver for the two little tunnels on the sides of the usb port ...
bottom line is , there are about a half dozen hook points , if it doesnt come off , u prolly missed somthing ... oh , and youll also need standard 6way screwdrivers , several sizes

I can do it
I had to troubleshoot a G1 one day. Turns out the damn processor literally burned out

well i just opened it up to clean dust but there wasnt a whole lot of it ... but to access the hinge ... you have no choice
dont really get wat u mean by worth it tho ..
just add the price you paid for the phone + price of digitizer(if only thats broken) and ull see if its more than the price for a working one

By worth it I mean, am I most likely gonna destroy the phone replacing the housing and digitizer? I bought the phone for $25, but its gonna cost me $40 for parts

Well too late now, but i've fixed phones before. Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, HD2 which is a female dog to take apart, iPhones, My nexus one is waiting in parts for a new AMOLED. Stuff like that.
