Hi,
I've read through the WiKi on the extended ROM on the blue angel, and i think i have a basic understanding of how it works now.
I have several CAB files (Microsoft .NET framework CAB files, and some of my own). Would i be right in saying that to put these into my Extened ROM all i have to do is...
- Unlock The Extended ROM folder on my blue angel
- Paste in the CAB files
- Edit the config file to add my CAB files to the execute list.
- ReLock Extended ROM
Would that work? If i were to create this extended ROM arranngement would it be possible to install it on several XDA IIs so that they would always automatically reinstall my program upon a hard reset? I was also wondering if it would be possible to customise things like the splash screen, menus, and hardware button settings within the Extended ROM?
I hope that wasnt to much of a long question!! Any ideas or thoughts would be great!
Many Thanks
James.
but also remember there is a limitation on the rom max of file size is 16MB.
happy cooking
I'm unable to boot my wizard with a custom rom.
1)I decrypt the rom
2)Modify it by using maimachs tools (I just use delfile to delete a file)
3)Flash using awizard.
The wizard remains at the Imate screen forever.
I have no trouble modifying roms for my himalaya.
Please , what am I doing wrong?
Even if I dump the files, and do NO modification, and rebuild it, I have the same symptoms.
Don't these tools work with wizard roms?
Please help,
Thanks
giasou file,
is there a possibility to modify the rom and add or adjust in some kind of way the language of the rom?
Hi there
re: HTC Himalaya. how do I change the first bootscreen? Pls can you give links to tools and provide instructions.
Cheers
I think what you are referring to is the welcome screen? Perhaps do a search for welcome.96 and see what comes up.
I had it in mind you just made an image the size of the welcome screen image and named it welcome.96.png and then just dragged it into the Windows folder (it will overwrite the original).
Having said that, Google it and find out how to do it exactly, don't take my word for it. But you should have enough information frfom what I have said to find out more.
I see its your First post..Welcome to xda-developers..sspecially for choosing Himalaya
To Change the Splash Screen..follow these steps :
Open any Image Editor
or Choose any Image that is 240*320 In Size
Its format Must be .PNG
and rename it to " welcomehead.96.png " (note : png is the extension )
connects your device via Active Sync or copy the splash screen to your Devices and replace place it in the \Windows Folder..it will ask to over right..Select Yes and You are done
Soft-Reset and Enjoy
PS. Search the Forum for ALOT of welcomeheads
the screen I want to change is the very first one that is shown when the machine is turned on, i.e. it appears as the device is booting up. Hope this makes sense.
Oh I suspect then you are not talking about Welcomehead/Splashscreen. Does the screen you are talking about feature the logo or name of a phone company/service provider? IE Telstra, Optus, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, etc
yes, that's the one. On booting up it is replaced by the welcome screen, and then the wallpaper. I'm using Ather's 'Dark Edition'
i would like to change this very first image too. I hope someone know how to do it.
Hrmm, not sure how possible it is. I have both the o2 logo on one phone and Telstra on the other which I wanted to remove. I dare say it is part of the radio rom, not the OS rom. Basically, you can flash the Radio to a different version, just as you can flash the Operating System, though some say it is a bit more difficult.
No matter what rom I flash, those logos are always there, so I suspect they are part of the radio rom. I will investigate.
EDIT: Okay this guy has created a program to do it for the Prophet only, but he may be the person to ask as I would suspect he had the general knowledge of how to do it by hand before he created the program.

Thoses two can be changed by editing the ExtRom file (ms_.nbf) from a 2003 Rom..Search the forum for WM2003 Edit in the Himalaya Wiki...i have also uploaded a Clean extrom..just replace the images init and then place it in the folder where your HimaUpgradeUT_noid.exe is and flash as normal
here is the ExtROM file : http://rapidshare.com/files/82299532/ms_.nbf
I think this way was working in WM5
Install extromunlocker
Soft reset
Start
Program
ExtROMTools
Unhid
Unlock
Folder will appear in the root
Inside this folder is the image need to be change
But I traied this extromunlocker cab file in WM6.1, I could not find the Extrom.
Thanks for the method - however, I'm new to this and would appreciate a bit more hand-holding if you don't mind. Can you give a more detailed stepwise method?
TIA
It wont work if u ahve Partitioned your DOC..because that was the Storage where these files were kept
Well ok..just tell me what u cant understand
See here ..
Hi,
as Ather described, I did it successfully last year this way
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=220799&page=12)
as described, I restored my ExtRom with DOC_Restore, took the T-Mobile 1.72 Update (http://xdazone.india372.server4you.d...d.php?id=3373), extracted the ms_.nbf (ExtROM) , changed the splashes with "Windows Mobile 2003 ROM Editor" and updated the ExtROM. Works well.
I'm not sure if the t-mobile extrom could be used for other version of Himalaya than the MDA II.

I'm trying to learning how to cook my own rom. i want to recook cooked roms and change them because some cooked roms have very good features and I am not good enough to do that by myself.
here is some questions:
is it possible to extract cooked rom? how? and how to extract applications from cooked rom?
how to include boot splash image in rom? I mean to include the picture in this post.
how to include splash screen picture like Davideuck did in his rom?
how to include applications in rom, or add applications to rom?
I saw some posts, the easiest way is to include OEM package files in OEM folder. I found some oem files, but dont know where to put it. in OEM folders? should I create a folder called 'Package', and put in there?
how to generate .rgu files? and how to create OEM packages from cab files?
(sorry for so many questions).
I hope somebody can help me out. I'm totally a rookie.

That depends on whether the cooked rom has been protected or not.
For the rest of the question I suggest that you look and read through the forum, as all of your questions has been discussed already a few times.
Why starting a new thread??
Have you seen this one???:

Hi there, I am trying to create a nbh file from 4 dump files. This ROM is missing in this forum and it is a stock ROM version 1.14.488.3 for middle east. I would like to share it with you and add it to the wiki page.
Now that i got my 4 raw files Part00/01/02/03.raw I downloaded the ROM kitchen. After 3 days of non stop reading, I have a few questions :
* It seems that I need also the ruu_signed.nbh file to make a ROM from dump ? (Please correct me if I am wrong). Why ?
* Can I use kwbr_ruu_signed_WWW_1.19.zip to cook 1.14 ROMs ??
* If not, where can I find the 1.14 ruu_signed_WWE.nbh file ?
* Using DUMP files from 1.14.488.3 and nbh from another 1.14 version will give me which version ? the 1.14.488.3 or the other ?
I tried to use the nbh from official ROMs and that did not help as it seems to be locked I believe which is expected.
Any help would be very apperciated. I hope to create the ROM successfully as there where lots of people asking for it on many forums.
Thanks !
BUMP
another shamless bump
To my knowledge official roms arn't protected, i think all you need to build the dump is part01/part02
you shouldnt need ruu_signed aswell as the part files so just put the 2 part files into the baseRom folder of the Kitchen(may be different depending on what kitchen your using) and run the .bat file to start
goto option extract ROM and then choose the second option(you should see Part01/Part02 mentioned),
if it doesnt make sense to you ill try and explain better but atleast something for you to get started on.
