This ROM is based on the T-Mobile AKU 3.3 WWE. It was cooked with a combination of the Scoter, double_ofour, Molski and anichillus kitchens. It contains no registry tweaks, carrier dialer skins or carrier logo and it even activates your stock extended ROM, which makes it ideal for G4 device owners wanting a stock upgrade. Smartdialing and Phone Pad are both blue. This is as generic as they get.

But for T-mobile us user with stock 2.26 Rom, if your ROM activates the stock extended ROM, the T-mobile crap still there.
Will try it, since Nottosmart version has some issues with the standard dialpad...

You can flash any extended rom to your PDA, there even an empty extended rom, which contains nothing
This is for those who don't use T-mobile. You can make your own extended ROM and flash it to the G4 if you like. The T-mobile extended ROM only gives you connection settings, IM and Winwap, so you may want these things if you are still on their network. You can also stop the customization by a soft reset after the welcome screen anyway.
I've cooked enough personal ROM's to give a different one to everyone on this forum, and I'm a little tired of bleeding edge. I figure this gives me and others an up-to-date ROM option. I can honestly say I like this as much as WM6 now that I'm actually using my device instead of playing with it.
Taking off my "moderator" hat for a minute, I don't like all of the "rah-rah" going on about people changing build numbers and the like because people are ripping off work as their own. Having someone else's name, number or customizations on my device is not to my liking. The good thing about this being a stock ROM is that I can post this as kitchen packages as well, since I extracted the XIP. Anyone can cook this ROM if they like, and I take the credit for none of it.
By the way, Only OS or has IPL/SPL, radio?
Is there anyway to install HTC home on WM5?

I don't know about HTC home. You can cook it and see what happens.
Wow, talk about under-sell, and over-deliver!
The best bit is my phone finally vibrates on incoming email!! I still can't quite believe it's working having tried SO many ROMs and it failing on my device.
I'm going to stick my neck out and predict this will be the best non-official ROM for the Wizard.
My only minor issue was it tried to execute the O2 customisation but seemed to fail (no error but device remained plain), but that doesn't bother me.
Just one quick question, did you put all the fixes from the ext rom into this rom? Not the TMO stuff but the cabs that install that do the Wireless G fix which is in the Ext rom?
Paul MDX, I'm not really sure about why it won't run your ext. ROM. I may need to replace checkautorun.exe for it to work on the O2.
NTS, as for the fixes, I left out the customizations from the T-mobile ROM because they are carrier specific. Almost no fixes/hacks are found in any of the actual factory ROM's. They are contained in the extended ROM's so I figured if a user allows customization, they'll get a factory setup which for me is exactly what I wanted since I'm using my device very heavily at this point.
It works on my cid-locked g4, but how do i know which aku do i have?? I think, that the aku didnt upgrade from 2.3 (love rom) to 3.3 generic. Help
I use now nbd 8.2 and the icons are the same - aku 2.3. I have modem link, which by aku 3 was removed?!?
Did you use shell tool to upgrade?

BTW, if the O2 .tsk is in the ROM, your ROM will not appear differently. Are your connections set up? If so, then the extended ROM ran.
Yes. RUU for love rome, shelltool for generic and nbd.

understood, but if you go through the cabs there are a few reg settings in there that are for this os. They actually did a cab for the wireless g capabilities. I have to get to a M$ XP machine first to flash it. LOL. Ill let you know.

My connections were not set up. I had to configure GPRS by hand. I would normally get a panel asking me for Normal / Corporate mode, which I did not get either.
Paul, I'm still not sure how to get around the fact that the ext. ROM is not activated in the O2 device, so if I can get the checkautorun file from the original O2 ROM, that may solve the problem. This may mean cooking your own. I tried to upload the kitchen to sendspace, but it stopped. I'll try to get it done here when I get my laptop plugged in to a power source. I also have a new OS ready to go as I had to make a registry change to get rid of the pink and gray highlighting on the Smartdialing panel. Other than that, I don't think there is anything needed.
NTS, there are some .provxml files in the 3.08 ROM that have the customizations about which you are talking. I'll look at and see if I can do a Herald style extended ROM which activates one set of files in the OEM section of the ROM then activates the true extended ROM. This may take the better part of a week, as I'm going to be very busy this week and won't have time to keep flashing my device.

Just to confirm, this isn't a problem for me, so don't dedicate time to it on my behalf. If you would fix it for other users or yourself, I can extract the file you want from my original .nbf if you point me to the tool.

This is the Scoter Kitchen which is one of the most complex kitchen's you'll ever use. It does a great job of extracting ROM's for cooking.
Is the T-mobile dialer skin in the extended rom? Which one please?

Ok... I want to upgrade my PDA2k, but am a bit on the chicken side. Has anyone created or cooked a COMPLETE ROM for the PDA2k that they can post a download link to?
I can do the flash myself, but don't know how to cook a ROM and don't have the tools. I would appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks!
ROM Upgrade
Read this site. It's all here.
This FTP site has the ROM for Blue Angel. I used this one to upgrade my PDA2K. Works much better than the released version. Only problem is with sound after using the built in MS PocketPC CLOSE command; just don't use it, use another program like "Launcher" that has it's own CLOSE command which does not cause the problem.
Here is the FTP link: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Roms/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom/
ChrisSpera,
Can you post a reply once you do the upgrade? I'd like to do it too, but I'm not as sure as you are on what to do. I also have a PDA2K from the US and would like to know how it goes.
Thanks,
Tom
Well, I got a little help from one of the patrons of this site, and I did get my PDA2k flashed with the 1.40 ROM, 1.12 Radio, and am working with a somewhat baked extended ROM. I've actually been tweaking it most of the day.
If you're using Cingular with your PDA2k, make certain that you grab the Cingular settings file from Club i-mate. You'll need those, as the settings in the SX66 ROM I used aren't quite right, though they work. Applications that automatically dial out via GPRS will not function correctly with the Connection Settings in that ROM. I am working with the guy that helped me to test the fixed connection settings, and when they are fixed, I'll let you know.
If you're using T-Mo, then make sure you get THOSE settings from Club i-mate and use those instead.
All is good, though! It works! I did have one hiccough, though; as my PC lost connection with the device BEFORE any flashing started. I bounced the box, leaving the device in the cradle, and was able to pick it back up from the beginning without any problems.
The device seems snappier. It connects to the PC faster, and boots faster. Pretty cool all told!
Thanks for the feedback! I hate to say this but I already started. It's been pretty slow in the office today, so I said...what the hell...and went for it. Wish I knew about the tmobile thing though. I'm just finishing the upgrade.
Where do I put the tmo information? Or, what do I do with it?
Tom
Chris,
What version is your extended ROM? Mine is 1.22.162 WWE
BTW, mine had the same problem with losing the connection. It's happened twice now. I updated my radio and the same thing happened. Strange.
Tom
I am using the SX66 1.40.110 (i think) version of the extended ROM.
If you go to the support area on club imate, and click on the Operator settings link in the support downloads area, you should be able to find a download link for a CAB that installs T-Mo connection settings. download it and use it to create your connections settings on your device.
I downloaded it and installed it. Didn't find it real helpful. I still had to go through everything to get mms and email setup. Oh well. Thanks for the tip though.
I've had it up and running for the past 24 hours and while I think the OS works a bit better I can't see a huge improvement. The phone is more responsive though.
Any notes on changes would be helpful. I did notice that the BT connects had a strenght signal now, which I find really helpful.
Question: Was this upgrade supposed to do anything to the extended ROM? Because the version is the same as before.
Thanks,
Tom

I just comprehended your post. Sorry about repeating the question when you already answered. How, or why, should I upgrade the extended ROM? I take it the upgrade I just did did not put the upgraded files in the extended ROM?
Tom
The extended ROM, which is about 16MB in size holds the custom software that comes on the device. You don't have to upgrade it at all. You can leave it be if you're happy with the software that's there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the upgrade that was just performed by you and I install the new files into the ext rom automatically? Or, do I have to do it manually....copy the cabs from the laptop to the ext rom?
I've just been reading about cooking an ext rom and I'm going to give it a shot.
Tom
that depends on the files the update contained. Look for *.nbf files in the temp folder you launched the update from. What was in there? MS.nbf is the OS, radio.nbf is the phone and nk.nbf is the extended ROM.
I think I screwed something up. radio.nbf and nk.nbf were in the temp file but MS.nbf was not. Was it in yours? I believe I pulled the same file as you did from the link provided but there's no mention of it in there.
I also took a look at my extrom folder and none of the files that were listed in the link are in there nor loaded. I guess I'm getting things confused. Did you copy all the cabs into the extrom folder then run BAUpgradeut.exe? I just ran BAUpgradeUT.exe and thought they'd copy them over. I think I was wrong.
Tom

The ipl, spl, radio and os all come from the qtek 2.17 rom. The htc logo and splash come from the t-mobile usa rom. The extended rom is my own creation. There is no offical 2.17 rom for t-mobile, they are rather slow at these things.
For what it's worth, I was just trying to download these files, and when the download completed, I ran it and got a corrupted file error. I look at the FTP server again, and the file have disappeared! Someone is deleting the files, it appears.
I've hosted the files here:
http://www.joystig.com/wizard.htm
Does this have the new Comm Manager that came with TMO?
Sounds great... What is NOT in this that was in the stock ROM load? How far off will it be from the T-Mobile version that shipped with the MDA?
Also - any comparisons in terms of:
- amount of storage the two versions take?
- program memory/storage? (never enough!)
- speed / performance
TIA...
ahhh, I flashed one of my two devices (my wife's) Qtek 9100 and now it just boots and reboots over and over. Ok, without being able to establish an activesync connection, how do I flash it back? My phone is running the Qtek 9100 AKU2 release just fine. I should have just done the same to hers.

Not sure where to find it...but I've read a few posts that, as I recall, tell you how to get into the boot loader of the MDA, and proceed to reload the firmware from there. I'd do some searching around here - I suspect you'll find somebody (or an older post) that can help you get the toasted MDA back up to snuff...
The Newer ROM is up and working great so far...
The Original T-Mobile ROM seems to be corrupted and not available on the different links provided.
bootloader: hold the camera or recorder button in while resetting... then run an RUU. I had to run through many old incarnations and slowly update the device. I won't be trying a custom rom again.

You got it working though?
I understand the feeling... much as I'd like to try a newer ROM, I'm thinking that I'll probably wait a bit to see if T-Mobile comes out with an official release soon. Maybe it's silly of me...but I'd rather be in a position where they'll still fix or replace the phone if their own firmware load messes up my MDA. I've done a bunch of firmware updates to various devices over the years, and still find that I hold my breath while doing it. Don't need any extra problems just now, and my MDA is working really nicely for the moment, even loaded up with Wisbar Advance, PocketBreeze, ContactBreeze, iLauncher and some nice skins. I'd like some more memory, but the whole thing seems stable throughout the day, and responsive...so I think I'll leave well enough along for now!

Yes, thank goodness... but the phone is without some important things. Of course, like me, her phone was/is using push email, so she gets the most critical stuff back immediately, but custom app settings, etc are gone. I did have a recent SPB Backup... and all restores ok except for System Data. When restoring that part, the system will freeze and restart and then I have to hard reset. I wish I could do a more finely tuned custom restore and narrow down the troublesome part of the restore. Oh well, now to reinstall all of the apps that were on here.
I just flash this rom and everything seems fine but when I try to connect to the edge network, it won't connect. I have the 29.99 plan. How do I fix this problem?

Never mind. It's working now. Thanks.
We've been getting some great ROMs designed for US carriers, but our UK T-Mobile friends seem to have gotten left in the cold. Sure a new ROM is available, but it's only being sold on new devices at this point. So I decided to build off the base Mr. Clean ROM and create a custom version for T-Mobile UK.
This is a AKU 2.3 ROM, using the latest OS core, the 2.24 bootloader, the 2.25 Cingular Radio ROM and a customized version of the T-Mobile UK Ext ROM. I've gone through the Ext ROM and dumped anything that seemed unnecessary, keeping just the vital bits. Repacked a few things, and included some vital accessories (Total Commander, Registry Wizard 1.0T, and the MIDlet Java Session fix) to finish things off.
.NET Compact Framework v2 is packed in as well, but it doesn't install by default. You can install it manually if you so choose by going to the NETCFv2 folder in the Ext ROM and running the CAB.
--------------------------
Exact version numbers are as follows:
IPL: 2.24
SPL: 2.24
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.24.10.1
Within the OS, Device Information reports:
ROM version: 2.24.10.1 WWE
ROM date: 4/17/06
Radio version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.24 Mr. Clean TMoUK
And the OS build is reported as:
OS 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)
--------------------------
This version of the ROM supports A2DP natively.
Push Mail is of course supported.
I've tested the ROM with US based GPRS settings, but bundled the final version with UK based GPRS and MMS settings. Unfortunately since I don't have an active T-Mobile UK SIM card I wasn't able to test those. Hopefully someone can give it a go and let the forum know ASAP if there is an issue. This is one aspect where I was flying blind.
I'd also love it if a Blackberry user could install the BBConnect client and let us know if it works with this ROM or not. According to T-Mobile it shouldn't, but we all know that's been proven wrong in the past. Ideally I'd love to have someone who's got it working now upgrade and try it. This way we're testing from a known good situation.
One final thing, I had to repack the Soft Key application. If everyone can pound on that and make sure it works, that would be awesome.
And with that...
Enjoy the ROM (and don't forget to CID unlock before upgrading!)

Edit: It's been mentioned that some users may need to enter the WAP proxy info. If everything works, disregard this, however if you do need to enter a proxy server to browse the web you can use the following: 149.254.201.132:8080.
Superb!!! , i'll give this a go today. THANKS!
Hi,
you did a superb work but, IMO, you chose a wrong name: Mr Clean ROM, in fact, is a ROM without ANY mobile operator's stuff while your ROM contains T-Mobile UK customizations. So, from my point of view, it's no more a Clean ROM!!!
sounds fantastic. Those on T-Mobile have been waiting for ages for a ROM update, so your work will be valued by many.
Just a couple of questions before I jump on the boat:
Has it got the T-Mobile UK today screen customisation? I am on the 1.06 T-Mobile UK ROM and the first part of the today screen has shortcuts for the T-Mobile favourites (IE) application, contacts, calendar and notes. I quite like it and I don't want to lose it. If you got rid off it in the new ROM, would it be possible to install CAB files from my current extended ROM once the device has been upgraded with your ROM? I've got a copy of my existing Exetended ROM, so maybe I could select and install these CAB files later? or are there any incompatibility issues between the 2 ROMs, i.e. cab files that only install on signed T-Mobile ROMs??
Browsing the wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=T-Mobile 1.6.2.105 UK, I guess these are the bits I am talking about here:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMO_UK_Browser_Signed.cab
[from the wiki:Creates unnecessary Internet Explorer Shortcuts.]
and/or it could be this:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMO_UK_UXC_Signed.cab
Shortcuts, registry entries for today plugins, softkeys, T-Mobile sound. Not needed.
and/or it could be this:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMO_UK_Browser_Signed.cab
[from the wiki:Creates unnecessary Internet Explorer Shortcuts]
Could you include these files in the Ext ROM, or could they be installed afterwards?
I suppose it means I don't want my ROM to be fully clean, but to include the good bits that are part of the current T-Mobile UK ROM! The best of both worlds :!:
Also, will it be possible to upgrade/downgrade to the soon-to-be-released official T-Mobile UK ROM, or to the current T-Mobile ROM in case anything goes wrong?
I can't wait - my Wizard will be very happy
Thanks for your help.
Top stuff.
Just a quick point.. Im using a T-Mobile UK upgraded to a 2.17 Qtek ROM. I had CID & SIM unlocked it using Lokiwiz 0.2b prior to upgrading. Would I need to run the newer Lokiwiz 0.3 before upgrading to this ROM? And how do I access the Net 2.0 install CAB in the Ext Rom?
Cheers.
I've just upgraded. Will let you know how it goes. First impressions: the device is much more responsive than before.
No particular issues as yet.
thanks a lot - feels great.
It works extremely great. The GPRS works great as well.
overall far more responsive device and not a single issue with the new rom as yet.
Great job! Thanks a lot
Excellent news!!! thank you so much..... however, i think someone may have deleted it off the FTP
i dont see it there now

Don't worry, I'll still keep maintaining the original Mr. Clean ROM. That said, I still think the name applies. While this particular ROM may be customized for T-Mobile UK, it has been stripped of any "extra" bits and just keeps what is needed. As a result, it should stike a balance between a base Mr. Clean install and a fully loaded carrier build. I tried to build it with just the essentials...more or less what you'd end up with if you took the original Mr. Clean and individually added on the T-Mobile bits.

No, the Today Screen UI bits have been yanked. They took up a WHOLE lot of real estate and weren't particularly functional as far as I could tell. Really felt as if it was designed for a smartphone rather than a PDA. Also didn't want to take the performance hit. As it is, Calendar, Contacts and IE are in the Start Menu by default (T-Mobile UK typically moves them) and you can add the Notes link to the Start Menu in the settings. This still gives you access to your apps with a single click, but doesn't require the T-Mobile UK UI customizations. For what it's worth, T-Mobile US didn't bother with the custom today UI over here.
If you're looking for a suggestion for Today screen plug-ins, I'm personally a fan of the O2 XDA bits. Someone had posted a link to it here on the forum awhile back. I keep that running on my personal Wizard.

You can always install any CAB files that you've got. The T-Mobile UK UI CABs all start with UXC, I believe. They should install on most any ROM. I don't believe that T-Mobile "locks" any of its customization CABs.

Make SURE that you CID unlock before upgrading and you'll be fine. Most everyone SIM unlocks, but not everyone realizes that the CID unlock option in Lokiwiz02b has to be run separately. Do the CID unlock (if you haven't yet done it) first and you should be able to load any ROM you choose.

Cheers.

You only need to CID and SIM unlock once. CID unlocking is what's important. If you only did a SIM unlock you'll run into trouble. Both the CID unlock and SIM unlock should be permanent so once you've performed both unlocks you're good to go. Won't need to do it again.
To accesses the Ext ROM start up Total Commander and manually enter \extended_rom into the directory field. From there, just go into the NETCFv2 folder and open the CAB file. It will install directly from there, and as it is set to read-only, it won't corrupt the Ext ROM.

I got this last night so I'm uploading it now. It should be there in about 35 mins
Edit : as of 11:35 the file has completed uploading.
Some damn fool keeps deleting the uploads section again. Someone give me his IP address and I'll arrange a DDOS
Thanks to thephm, downloaded and I am installing rom at present.
A quick question: after upgrading to Mr Clean's ROM I noticed my Wizard displays time with the US format, despite selecting English/UK in the regional format.
How can I get it display using the 24 hour format?
This seems to be a minor issue, but it bothers me when using Pocket Informant.
Thanks for any advice you may have

This is a setting that's built into WM5, though due to the way the drop down menu displays it can be easy to miss.
Start -> Settings -> System -> Regional Settings -> Time -> Time style
Choose one of the four options:
h:mm:ss tt -- 12 hr clock
hh:mm:ss tt -- 12 hr clock with leading zeros on the single digit hours
H:mm:ss -- 24 hr clock
HH:mm:ss -- 24 hr clock with leading zeros on the single digit hours
Enjoy.

Yep I had this problem the original Mr clean rom and also most of summiter's custom roms TBH I have'nt tried this version of the Mr clean and there for I like to know if the problem is still there before I flash my wizard for the 20th time
Howdy.
While waiting to get all the bits for AKU 2.5, I made up a quick and dirty little multi-installer. It is a menu-driven installer that allows you to choose from multiple ROMs and various components like radio and extended ROM. The decompressed files are removed when it finishes up.
I currently have it set with the following options:
1) Full AKU 2.3 custom ROM with OS, extended ROM, radio, and bootloader
2) Full AKU 2.3 custom ROM with OS, extended ROM, radio, NO bootloader
3) Radio only - Version 2.25 (the good one)
4) Radio only - Version 2.17 (It's really 2.07, from the 2.17 ROM)
5) An empty extended ROM which will erase whatever is there
If you already have a 2.x bootloader, you can choose option 2 which will not touch your current IPL/SPL. I agree with the general sentiment that the less you touch the BL, the better.
The AKU 2.3 OS ROM is the same as test2, but with these changes:
-fixed softkey applet mappings to calendar, create sms, and create mms
-added .Net Compact Framework 2
-added several themes
-made lame attempt at fixing the "Tiki of Doom" theme, which I really like
-disable "receive all incoming beams" by default to conserve electrons (can be re-enabled in Settings->Connections->Beam)
- Set dot11SupportedRateMaskG to 8 (support all wifi speeds up to 54Mbps)
-enabled Cleartype on landscape
-combined Cingular customizations and registry tweaks into a single cab
-updated the graphics in the flash app, and added some additional warnings and whatnot and so forth
This one weighs in at a hefty 131MB, so if you're on dialup, go make some waffles, err, no, take that trip to Nepal you've always dreamed of while it downloads. If you have broadband, go make them waffles.
Here she be:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_Custom_AKU2.3_Combo_Installer_V1.exe
The multi-installer is a work in progess - I want to evolve it into something a little more flexible so items can be plugged in our ganked out more easily. As a side project, I'm also working on automating the extended ROM build process. The result of this little obsession will allow you to automagically create, configure, and build a flashable extended ROM using a single interface. It might make waffles too...but I'm growing quite fond of tatertots lately.
And yes, I see the error I made with the title placement in the script..but I already started the upload. =)
Good work AGAIN mate.
Keep it up
I guess I need to search for bootloader, to see what that means, and how it affects what I should choose.
Hmm.. very, very cool. However I think I'll wait considering I am running TEST2. It's great to have options. Now if we could pick exactly what we wanted in the rom via checkboxes on a GUI menu, that would be the shizit. Thanks again Summiter!
.NET CF version?
Summiter,
What is the .NET CF 2.0 version? Is it the recently released .NET CF2 SP1?
Also, can you leave out the ClearType Landscape fix? This is the one fix I can't stand. ClearType does not work well in landscape mode because of the orientation of RGB elements inside LCD.
Nice. Just updated to the Test2 ROM, and was kinda hoping there would be an option to install a plain Cingular ROM without all the extra stuff that I can't delete (like the 2.17 version that I was using before). Any chance of uploading a 'clean' Cingular version of the 2.3?
Can I use this ROM
This is what I see when I turn the phone on:
IPL 2.25.0001
SPL 2.25.0001
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
Does this make a differnece. When I swapped out my old one in the store they gave me this one and the guy at Cinglar told me it was a brand new one. I saw him get it out the store and on the box the manufacture date was this month June 2006... I have anohter 8125 that I purchased in April and I notice that the flash chips are differnt. How can I load Summiter's new ROM onto this new 8125 has anyone had any luck. I used Lockwiz from this site and it did do the SIM unlock but I can't tell if it did the CID unlock. Can this unit be CID unlocked. I don't want to fry my phone.
Followup
Also does this one include a CID unlocker
thanks, keep up the good work.

No. And you can't do CID unlock now since you upgraded to 2.xx ROM without unlock first. You have to downgrade to 1.xx ROM to do CID unlock (if that even possible with your stock ROM).
When you use lokiwiz to unlock your phone, CID unlock is a separate step. That is if you do SIM unlock as well as CID unlock, you have to run the tool twice.
Thanks Summiter! Quick Q: Is the .NET CF installed in ROM, or it is installed from Extended ROM onto regular storage flash? What is the final used space after the customizations are installed?

I have the same problem as you. The damn *.0001 uses a different flash chip and although it can be CID unlocked by using that IMEI website, i dont know if the ROMS are compatible. So i left mine alone, although i really want to upgrade.
Please help
I did not upgrade the ROM it came from the store like that.
IPL 2.25.0001
SPL 2.25.0001
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
As you can see the flash chip in this phone is not the same.
Have you ever seen any of the other phones start up with these IPL and SPL numbers...
Please advise

You have the mysterious G4 chipset in your device. Do some thread searches for 2.xx rom unlocking... or pay to get your CID unlocked through an IMEI check. I was looking at doing a swap with my device, just to get the "better" chipset but now with the apparent problems with upgrading the device to a custom ROM, heh, forget it.
You could always go for the long ball and ask Cingular for the CID unlock sequence if they'll be so gracious to give it to you... but good luck.
Good work summiter on cookin' up a new installer. If you let me know what language you're working with in the console, I could probably work with you on a VB GUI interface with what the users want, and a truly customizable EXTROM type of menu checkbox system. Been a while since I've dinked around in VB, but its easy as pie (prefer C++ personally).
okay
Okay so if I use summiters new rom the one that says i don't need to use the bootloader will this work on my phone. and will i be able to upgrade to the new officeal releases from cinglar when they come out.
this makes littel sense why would they make such a change this may fry alot of phones seeing how most customers don't have a clue.

No SP1 - I'm waiting a bit to see how things flush out with it..it just came out of beta recently. And for all the CF2 apps I see commonly, SP1 doesn't provide any benefits. I will probably have SP1 in the next build, be it AKU 2.3 or AKU 2.5.
You're right about CT in landscape..looks fuggly. I'll back that one out for the next ROM.

CF2 is in the ROM. The registry entries for it however are added via cab file because I'm trying to keep CF2 a bit portable until I get it into AKU2.5. Setting up the registry in the ROM itself takes more time than I had to throw at this, and has to be done in each ROM build. The end result is the same though - the big bits are in ROM.

No you cannot use this ROM unfortunately. The ROM on your device isn't all that bad.

I'm seriously hoping he does! I upgraded to this ROM last night and it seems okay, but just not quite the same without summiter's touch.
The easy way to upgrade
I was using xelencin's 2.24 version. I backed up with SPB backup, used the installer above, and installed 2.26. Then, when the installation was complete, I prevented the customization (after the screen align, etc., when the 'customization will begin in 3 seconds' popup appears, perform a soft reset with the stylus), and restored the backup.
This seems to work fine.
I then used total commander to copy the /extended_rom/ T-Mobile customizations to the miniSD and installed a few of them -- smart dialing, phone_light, PP_Extversion (not sure what that does), and the updated Hotspot login.
Of course, I didn't get the advantage of cleaning up the system, but since I did a start-from-scratch build a month ago, that wasn't necessary.

This seems like a good idea. I might try to something like this myself. I ended up uninstalling the Hotspot since we don't have T-Mobile where I am and I figured it had to do with their network.
A question... how do you disable the "message sent" notification for SMS messages? I've searched the forum but I can't find it anywhere.
UPDATE: Nevermind about diabling "message sent". I found a the hack for it.
TIA!
gonna try it now thatn for the information. i never let the customizations load after the phone rom is completed seems the phone works better without i just add the needed cabs.

Is there a depository somewhere with all the extended ROM cabs separated (and documented, what's what, what does what, etc) so you can just pick and choose what you want to install?
i just base my cabs off the files that xenelicin uses on his custom roms. when i first got the phone i donwloaded alot of cabs and yes there is a topic on this board somewhere with all the cabs and what they do. i still got a bunch i dont know exactly what they do so i never use em.

Thanks, I'll look around for that post.
I'm downloading now!
I'm also using xelencin's 2.24 version, I been happy with it, "Upgrade or NOT to Upgrade - That is the question". How's the radio working?
Radio is fine
The radio is fine.
I tried running some of the t-mobile customizations from 2.26 and that caused things to slow down. Understand that I am doing these over xelencin's customizations, so there may have been conflicts. Here is what I installed (these are abbreviations):
enable ntiz
smartdial enable
edge icon
generic conn settings
generic ui
other conn settings
security policy
phonelight
pp extversion
gprsandedgeDTMF
ringtone
WISPA - (this is HOTSPOT)
camera
This turned out to be a bad idea and I rolled back to the customizations I was running in 2.24.
I'm going to wait for someone to sort out what the entire list of customizations is. Xelencin renamed the customizations (in a way to make them understandable) but that makes it harder for me to match them up.

Missing the Milet Manager in new 2.26 ROM
What does T-Mobile USA have against the Midlet Manager? Why is it that they never include it? T-Mobile UK has it, and others as well.
Has anyone pulled just the Midlet Manager out of the UK 2.21 version?
