There seems to be a problem with iGO and Mio. When you launch it, nothing happens.
I found a way to make it work - sometimes it requires to do a soft reset for it to work:
Security Warning - turn it to disable and it should work.
Well for me it does not work following your recommandations
Software: iGO 2006 Myway Plus
ROM: XTRM 1.0-6.1x WWE TILT X-version
Which ROM are you using?
both worked for me on Duttys, Alex's, and Sleuth's roms...be sure to have the security disabled as well as assisted GPS disabled.
Something else
I have seen posts about a conflict between one of the HTC today plugins causing a problem with IGO & MIO, I had used both on the WM 6.0 ATT factory rom but no joy on the 6.1 roms (I am sorry that I have not tested to see the exact item causing the problem) I started to use Tom Tom and that is working well for me (you can get the demo version with one free local map Download) or the full version is only about $150.00
Cheers

I just tested both iGO 2006/2008 making sure both the security alerts and the assisted GPS were disabled and even disabling the HTC Home plugin.
Result: still a no go I am afraid (the programs don't even launch)
EDIT: actually I did a hard reset on the rom I was on and now strangely it works
where can i find igo2008 ? I would test it.

With both disabled on 3.03 stock WM6.1 rom, iGo 06 still doesn't work.
I can honestly say that I have no idea what its not working for some of you...I just pulled mine up last night to map a route (igo06). I havent really done anything special to the settings other than what I mentioned earlier. Sorry I could not be of more help.
It may have to do with the <ahem> legality of the various versions of iGo/Miomap that people are using.

What ROM do you have?... Some roms have modded the XIP protocol allowing iGO and MIOMAP to function.
For those that have iGO, the problem is not in running the program. It is in the installation. some ROMs would halt the installation at about 80%, the installation meter disappears however your screen will display the iGO logo and program. When clicked .. nothing happens .. since the installation, due to a conflict, did not finish.
Weighing all the nice features of WM6.1 against the less troubles WM6.0, I would choose the WM6.0 any time. I can deal with not having a feature of two, but it is frustrating to have your phone crap out on you because of A NICE FEATURE as in 6.1.
my 3 1/2 cents....

I had the same problem, turned off the HTC Today.. and then iGO 2006 would work.
..I don't know about iGO 8 ?!?
I gave up on WM6.1
I have now all my programs installed and functioning great on Sleuth 1.2. with WM6.0
iGO never functioned as good with any other ROM. I installed Opera full and TCPMOP core player and I can watch U-Tube and can stream video and music from any source.
The Sleuth 1.2 is the best ROM out there so far. If you flash Sleuth's ROM please donate accordingly.
I had an issue with IGO, where it wouldn't start or would take ages to load if my network connection was established.
However, if I clicked disconnect from media net or isp, or whatever, it would loads right up...
Everytime.

iGo doesn't start after installing.
I'm using Dutty's 6.1 final.
I made it work! Just remove HTC Home from Today screen, keep Mio on Today screen. Then do soft reset, then click on Mio on Today screen and it starts!
btw, I don't need fancy HTC Home after 5 minutes trying it...

I too can get it to run by disabling the HTC Home plugin but would like it to work with the plugin enabled because its a pain to have to keep doing that...anyone have any ideas....I got a six pack for anyone who can solve this issue....
My rom varies day to day. But I just worked with miomap alot this weekend while on a retreat. Worked fine with Sleuths 6.1.
MIO Stopped working for me as well.
I was able to get it to work with disabling the HTC HOME screen.
I have CE OS 5.2.19199 Build 19199.1.0.0
ROM Version: DCSv1.5-WM6.1 WWE
ROm Date: 01/29/08
Radio: 1.64.08.21
Protocol: 25.74.40.02H
Where is the option to modify the SECURITY SETTINGS?
I want to bump this thread up..
There's gotta be a fix for this. I want to have HTC Home and be able to run iGo.
Anybody know what can be done about this? Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?
confirmation
i can confirm that disabling the home plugin and assisted gps allows iGo 2006 to be installed.
you can then just turn them back on.
<edit> No ... I'm wrong ... if you turn the home plugin and assisted gps back on ... iGo stops working.
Now it was working when i was using a different 6.1 rom, but I cant remember which now.
A
if you turn off the today plugin and soft reset your device
both igo2006 and igo8 works...
if some chefs could make a solution to work it without soft reset we could have a script to turn it on and off...
do you know mortscript?
My TYTN II has been rendered half-working for a second time. Both times this happened after Tom Tom was installed.
I have 4 GB SD Card. I use TomTom by copying all files/directories from the TomTom provided MicroSD card to the root of my 4 GB SD card. There are also other directories ( i.e Program Files ) in the root of the SD card.
The first time it broke , I simply run the TomTom Update function from within TomTom. It downloaded an update , installed it and then broke the device/Windows Media installation.
When it “brakes” the Windows Media 6 installation , it renders the mobile OS half working. The buttons on the side - TurnOff/On and Camera buttons - stop working. The device itself becomes very slows – it takes 2 secs to go into Programs. The camera application starts but then nothing happens when you tap the on-screen functions /buttons. , The device will not rotate the screen when using the external keyboard , TomTom stops starting at all.
The second time TomTom broke my device was after simply starting TomTom – it hung and after a soft reset my device was left in the same state.
Device:
HTC TYTN II Kaiser / Vario III
ROM ver 1.56.110.4
Windows Mobile 6
TomTom ver 6.010.
try intsalling tomtom 6.030 which can be found in the kaiser wiki. I have that installed on my kaiser and have no problems, then just copy the maps you want over to your storage card.
good luck.

I am not sure where I can get the latest version from ! I don't have any TomTom versions on my Kaiser CD and I didn't find any updates downloads on tomtom.com. Tomtom Home is saying may device doesn't need updates.
The only thing i can re-try is to reinstall the whole device and then run update from within TomTom but then this broke the device once already ..

Try using a torrent or p2p... Im running a recent copy without a problem, make sure its a recent build, also i found works better if you assign the gps the microsoft bluetooth gps serial port and reshared to tomtom with that
Don't install from a cab file. Download TTN 6.020 from here
http://rapidshare.com/files/91282009/TTN_6.02.7910.zip.html
copy to your device and run TomTom from there.
This is also the only ver. that doesn't have voice problems on my device.

I will try although I have always been wary of running exes from the internet on my Windows Box be it mobile or not.
Anyway , it turns out the problem is not specifically within TomTom 6.010 but has to do with the fact that I am running another app , a dictionary, besides TomTom. After uninstalling the the App , the device works fine.
I am very angry with TomTom support though , whose response was , as expected - "TomTom works on the Manufacturer provided 1 GB SD card - use it from there. If you have problems call HTC" .

Hi,
i've benn searched in the forum but i've not found any notice about my problem....
that is, when i install igo8 the setup seems to end successfully, but when i tap on the igo icon nothing happens, even disabling htc home.
i've realized that in the igo8 folder the sys.txt file is'nt there...
in addition igo don't appears in installed software in system tab, and tapping on unistall igo8 in programs nothing happens.
someone can help me??
Which version of IGO are you using?
I suggest you uncheck the IGO checkbox in the start-today-items, and see whether it helps.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling previous versions first.
I had a similar problem with my HW6910 when I installed an upgraded (legal) version of IGO 2006.

Yeah, THX! Had the same problem
I have the same problem with iGO8 and WM6.1
Hi to all
I have the same problem with my Kaiser (RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.17.56_Ship) and iGO8(full edition), when I disable HTC Home plugin and Soft reset, iGO starts. But if HTC Home plug in is enable with iGO happens nothing when try to run it.
But the question is HTC or iGO will change something in their software?
iGo8 works perfectly with Garmin DK3.1 and the final both with HTC home enabled. I'm using the 3.1 right now. I havent flashed the final yet but others have reported that the final works as well.
iGO8 Ver. 8.0.0.41506 (June 3, 2008) works perfect with WM 6.1 AT&T official ROM 3.57.502.2 WWE OS 5.2.19214 (Build 19214.1.0.4)
NO ERRORS! HTC Home plug is NOT disable!
yes, latest iGO8 fixed the bug with HTC home.
;-)
...and where can be downloaded the latest iGO8? ;-)
i'm using the latest igo8 with the latest north america map.
it runs fine but never finds the gps.
google maps and tomtom both find the gps.
any suggestions?
IGO download?

Did you have any problem with the "GPS active" checkbox?

I had to revert to the previous ATT ROM because of this (the USE GPS checkbox in the GPS SETUP screen wouldn't stay checked).
Mistarip, were you able to retain the checkmark?

i disabled assisted gps and it worked.
it automatically put a check on "enable gps device"
it works good now. i like the tomtom better though
tomtom makes the best gps software. they care more about functionality than graphics.

APGS gives me an almost instant fix most of the time.
The only times it takes a couple of minutes for TFF is when I travel abroad, or when I upgrade the IGO version.
What are the fix times for you, w/o AGPS?
Have you tried any of the other solutions, eg "GPS Quick Position.cab" or "SH4Y's QuickGPS Fix.CAB" given elswhere in this forum?
And which version of IGO are you using?
Thank you.
I have a HTC P4550 Kaiser.
I tried to install iGo 2006 plus, but is not working. After the progam is installed and I try to start the application nothing is happening. The windows mobile 6.1, is preinstalled, everything seems to work fine, except the GPS software. I bought the device from US, with the windows allready installed.
If someone knows how to fix this...
Thanks!
You could try turning off AGPS with Advanced Config, this has seemed to help a few people!
Did you choose the correct COM port? [email protected]?
For iGO if you use the search function you will find out that it does not work when htc home is enabled on WM6.1 AFAIK i had to turn it off.
Works on WM6.0
Hello guys;
I am trying to connect my Xperia and TomTom Home together in order to buy(!)/download/install new maps+updates and use Map Share.
Unfurtunately, I did not have any luck yet: TT-Home keeps waiting for connection and does not recognize any TomTom device.
Could someone point me to the right direction?
Do I need some special Home version (mine is 2.4 from the tomtom's website)?
Does TT need to be installed in some special way (mine is the very latest 7.910, installed as cab from the card's 2577 folder to main memory)?
...thanks in advance!
Home?
You don't need Tom Tom Home. When you startup TomTom on your phone and there is no map it will automatically ask you to download a "city" map to test the features or buy a map. At least that happened on mine
I haven't managed to get tomtom home 2.* to work either, but tomtom 1.6 works fine, you can download that from the tomtom home page

You can download 1 free city map but it won't let you buy any more - message states that this is not available in your region (yet)

Thanks a lot but I think that TomTom HOME 1.6 for NAVIGATOR 6 only (and does not support Map Share), and I'm trying NAVIGATOR 7 which is only supported by 2.4.
HTC owners with pre-installed TomTom 7 are able to use it with TomTom Home -- I want it too! Therefore I'm asking if someone already got this connection.
anyone?...
or nobody has TTHome + TT7 running?..
For me it doesnt work too.
I have the 7.4 something version running and Tom Tom Home dont recognize it..
How were you able top use the 7.9 Version of Tom Tom on your X1 ?
When I try to install it a message shows up that my device is not compatible or something...
I don;t know if it may help, but I have a touch diamond (and soon getting the x1) but tt home worked for me. Have you tried to hook up your device as diskdrive rather than in active sync mode? It worked for me that way with tt home
hi, I had tomtom home 2.6 detecting x1 ok and installing mapshare updates. but since Ive flashed to the uk r3a rom, tomtom home cannot detect any device "No device connected".
Ive tried changing the usb to pc settings.
I notice in system, settings, device information , my memory card id and card version only has little squares instead of a number or whatever is should be?
Ive flashed to touch-it v9 (r3a) and still no device connected.
wonder if anyone has tomtom home 2.3 or 6 and x1 wth r3a rom working ok ?
TIA.
I've got the same problem after flashing r3aa
Same here (R3AA013).
Somebody a solution?
I´m fishing up this thread to see if anyone has come up with a solution/can give me an idea where to continue searching for an answer. As previous posters it worked perfectly with TTN7 and TTHome2.7 (yes a legit bought version) but since I´ve flashed the latest official firmware from SonyEricsson and TTH won´t detect my device. The X1 is not hardspl as it seems that r3a firmware is the problem.
Any ideas since TTH unfortunately wont update TTMobile of a memorycard it has to detect the phone. I´ve tried all setting regarding connection I can find both on the phone and on the PC, even tried XP, Vista & W7.
I´m reluctant to downgrade the rom back as I fins the r3a to be a lot quicker but if that is what it takes...
All help greatly appreciated.
annoyance.
I think its a deliberate move by TomTom as they want TomTom 7 to be exclusive to certain phones. What their reasoning is I dont know, but as stated previously, TOMTOM home 1.6 although more primitive does seem work with the tomtom 7 software. you can download updates and install stuff like new voices and maps, but I dont think it has mapsharing.
This exclusivity BS has been annoying me and even though I paid for the maps I am thinking of changing my GPS software to Garmin or something.

That should not be the case as my version of TT7 is bought separately on DVD and as stated on the package "Requirements: Any PocketPC running Windows Mobile 5 or above". I have not downloaded any of the hacked versions laying around.
Well if its offical then maybe the tomtom customer support can help you. ive just looked at the aussie site and all they appear to be doing there is providing software and support for the iphone. no mention of winmo at all.
I decided to downgrade the Xperia ROM to R2A and live with it, TT Home is working again.
Btw here´s a link to the swedish tomtomstore selling the app and the phones it works with:
http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=898&Section=709&Lid=18&Category=2
What are the differences between r2a and r3a
so it seems to me, that the diference between the old rom and the new is, that there is a change in the rom that says tthome that the x1 is the kovsky.
so has anyone an idea, where the information of the tpye of the experia is stored on the rom r2a and what has changed that r3a doesn work with tomtom home (i have a legal sd card, that does not work with my phone because it says incompatible device. i just copied all data form the sd card to another card without the tt7 software. then i downloaded an tt7 software and installed it on my x1, since i have a legal one an the support din't help me with a patch and tomtom din't give me my money back)
today i 've seen that x1 is now on the list, so i would be glad if someone can help me to run my tomtom software with the newest rom, since tomtom support doesn'T help me)
