Trying to decide...

Hi!
This post might seem abit anoying or so but I am trying to decide if I should get this phone now or wait and see what happens with the GPS and the memory issue, I can also state I prolly will be a messaging freak like MSN/Skype and so just dont know how bad that will go with the memory issue... also ofc MP3 / Webradio most of the day at work.
I also want to add I have read everything here from day to day just so you know I am not posting this just for a fast shortcut in my life, I basicly want to get some feedback from ppl that have used this phone more the just a simple review on Google ^^
so... basicly I have some fast questions
1. Do you find the memory beeing an issue if I wanna run MSN/Skype/Music at the same time (ofc Skype / Music aint at the same time but Skype will prolly be online in the backgruond for incomming calls)
2. The battery I also read is somewhat of a issue, also read about the ppl trying to find bigger ones but will it like last 8-10 hours if I use it like in question 1.
3. I also read somewhere that the Basic verison of WM6 dont have as much support for programs like the Pro does? (Not as many programs made for Basic?) and if that is true I have noooooo clue at all
If I come to think of soemthing more later I'll ask again.
Well thx in advance to the ppl that will give me some guidance in my life here during new year times and with to much money in my christmas gifts I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

my long road to the s730 wings
I dont know if this will answer any of your questions but I thought it was appropriate enough to post.
I started with the T-Mobile Dash which is indentical to the HTC s620. I broke the screen right away and instead of replacing it I decided to purchase an unlocked version I could use with my T-Mobile account while travelling abroad. (I have since learned I could have just unlocked my Dash) Well broke that screen too...I guess the phone is a bit too wide to be shoved in a pocket. I then purchased an unlocked TYTN II (Kaiser) which is identical to the ATT Tilt but since I had T-Mobile I went for the unlocked version. The Kaiser was a nice upgrade from the s620 since it has a faster processor and WM6 Pro. It also has GPS which I purchased the TomTom software for only to find out that I liked my TomTom in my car better and never used it on the phone. It was nice that the screen tilted but it was like carrying around a lead weight all the time. I also hated the touch screen because it kept hitting buttons when I would use the phone. I then purchased an Iphone and switched to ATT (could have got the tilt in the first place). Hated the Iphone for the following reasons:
1. No 3G
2. Slippery and wants to jump out of your hand
3. Cannot install third party apps
4. No USB connector
5. Email sucked and didnt sync with outlook
6. ITunes wouldnt install on Vista64-bit
I will say that the iphone had an amazing screen and is great for thsoe who want the "wow" factor but for those like me who text and email a ton it just wasnt good enought especially since you cannot install any third party apps.
My good friend owns an s710 and I really love it so i decided to purchase that s730 which is basically a 710 with a faster processor and 3g. I love this phone so far and the only downside is they didnt give it the htc rubber backing my s620 and kaiser had. It doesnt slip though but the rubber would have been nice.
If you are looking for speed I feel it is fast for a smartphone and is faster than the kaiser probably due to a bit smaller screen and less demanding apps. The memory is not a problem and everything seems to work great so far. The battery seems to last twice as long as the kaiser which only lasted a day. I am hoping to get at least two days but with a smartphone more than a day is good. Overall I think the s730 is a powerhouse in a small package. It is what I have been waiting for in a phone. It could be a bit slimmer but I guess I will have to wait for another version Hope this helps!
Yeah thx for the Re:
Might go ahead and order one soon then ^^
yup second day now and battery still has 30% left since it came out of the box (havent charged it once yet). I talked on it all day too but didnt use much of the keyboard or internet/bluetooth. The battery life is plenty good enough!
i wont tell you, that you shouldnt buy this phone, but: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356677

Thx for all replies, I will take everything in cosideration
Hi,
I got this phone only for one week now, but I must say I am amazed. I was going for the Kaiser, but that's too heavy for me to put in my pants
The Wings is still a bit heavy, but it's amazing what it can do. I use it for phone/pushmail/calendar/sms and can type pretty fast on that little keyboard now.
I do however charge it every night, but with regular use of mail I can hold it for 2 days.
The UMTS/HSDPA works flawless and at home / office it switches to WiFi perfectly.
My Audi A4 Carkit recognises the phone and I can even use the Audi software to dial/see diallog (missed/received calls etc), where my Nokia N73 just would only connect and I had to use the N73 keypad.
If only the GPS could also come to live, it is my ideal phone!

Anyone in UK order from Clove today?

I ordered mine today from Clove and payed extra for the Saturday delivery....however when i put in my tracking no. into Royal Mail it says it will be delivered on the 23rd (Monday) !!! Ahhhh!
Is this just a flaw with their systems, has anyone else see this?
Yours, impatiently.....
Are you sure it doesn't say words to the effect of "Delivered at the latest by"
Sometimes they say that but if you paid Saturday it should get there Saturday. If it doesn't the postage gets refunded to the person who paid the shipping anyway.
Citylink don't do saturday delivery so they use royal mail.
Royal Mail always sets the delivery date +2 working days, or +1 if its over a weekend.
I'm not sure if you'll get it on saturday, it'll depend alot on when they passed it onto royal mail.

It says 'We have received your item and expect to deliver it before the guaranteed time on 23/06/08'....I guess that could be interpeted as meaning before the 23rd or before the guaranteed time ON the 23rd......mmmm...I hate not knowing!

Bugger. It was quite a late order (about 4:45pm) but I did ask if they could get it by Saturday and they said yes. Their confirmation email isnt much use but on the invoice it says 'SAT SPECIAL' at the bottom....maybe its just Royal Mail...
I've used Saturday delivery with Royal Mail before - the Royal Mail tracking system doesn't allow for Saturday Tracking - I'm pretty impatient (36 year old child) and felt very let down thinking I would have to wait until Monday BUT it did arrive if you check early tomorrow morning it should say either "received by sorting branch" or "out for delivery" if your going to receive it.... Good Luck.....!

Thanks, thats great news Will check in the morning...probably sit excitedly on the end of my bed like the 29 year old child I am!
Let us know if you get your new toy on time!!!!!
I ordered from Clove today myself, asked them to ship it via royal special delivery saturday which they said no problem. Placed my order this morning and the guy said that i should have it by tommorrow.
In the past i have had special delivery items arrive on a saturday so i would expect mine to be with me tommorrow...if not ill be one sad bunny
Got it! I should really have more faith - Clove have always been good.
Wow! What a box! I can't believe how small and light the device is considering whats cramned inside!

haha yeah i think we all thought that when we opened our boxes.
My delivery experience was funny, i got mine from Hong Kong (and you thought you were impatient lol,) so i order the thing yeah, it takes about 12 hours to get from the guy in Hong Kong to London Heathrow, it then takes 35 hours to get for the airport to me, and i live in London!! lol travels around the world 3 times faster than it can travel from London, to London lol! anyway still very good to get it in 2 days from HK! so no complaints really
Right got my Diamond this morning...was quite excited...was up at 8am lol. Anyways quite impressed with the box...its like a small pyramid..very cool and swish if i must say so.
The phone itself is small, didnt realise just how small it was and slim. Only major problem with the phone is that its a dust and finger magnet...ive never come across a phone that attracts so much dust and fingerprints...hell my nokia 8600 luna is a finger magnet but nothing on the scale of the Diamond.
Anyways am happy i finally got it but to be honest, im not that impressed with the device...sure it looks nice and all but touchflo is stupidly laggy even tho im running 1.37 rom as its a uk spec diamond. The sensitivity of the screen isnt very good...i definitely prefer my ipod touch...the touchscreen on that is simply amazing compared to the Diamond. In fact its so annoying that i use the stylus rather than my finger.
Anyways im keeping till the weekend is over then ill make up my mind as to whether or not to keep it or send it back...as much as i love the form factor...i cant see myself getting on with this phone...im already noticing silly little annoyances. But ill definitely know by monday and if it does go back then ill wait for the Xperia X1 i think. Hopefully the touchscreen on that will be much much better than the Diamonds.
Do a screen align and tap the points realllly lightly (just tap super lightly and increase the pressure until it senses it). This will make it ALOT more sensative.
It will take the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold
from about 34 decimal to 55 decimal. Or you can edit the key directly and set it to 240 decimal. You'll notice a HUGE difference in everything except touchflo which will have some difference but not huge..
Touchflo seems to use this key as well:
HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings\fingurepressure
I've fiddled with it and changing it from 19 to 2 seems to make a marked difference. Still not enough for me tho!
It seems the glass covering the diamond screen is the culprit. Not sure how much we can do about that. But i agree i hate the screen sensativity, or lack of it i should say.

Hi mate...i tried re-aligning the screen etc but even the lightest of taps doesnt seem to register...messed around with it and to be honest theres not much you can do i suppose...the sensitivity is pretty dire to say the least.
Oh well guess ill just keep trying till i get it right...

Yeah realigning the screen didnt do too much for me, but changing the reg key did. BTW you need to soft reset afterwards.
If you change the finger pressure key, it takes affect about 5 to 10 seconds after touchflow loads.
The way i test it is to scroll with your finger from home to programs and back again over and over. Decrease the pressure with your finger and at some point you'll notice when you get to home or programs it starts drawing the program/home screen, as if you released your finger.
I was *****ing about this all day yesterday! But i tweaked it as best i could, forgot about it, and today its actually quite usable. I think some of it was in my head!
If only we could find an app which reads the pressure on the screen and displays it, then we could scientifically press at the same level and see the difference.
anyone know of such an app?
Hmmm i know what you mean...my problem is that im probably expecting it to be quick when really it isnt ie when i scroll my finger quickly across to say internet...it takes a few secs before it actually get there and opens up the app.
Im going to give the screen re-alignment another go and if that doesnt sort it out then i guess ill have to edit the registry...only thing i havent a clue as to how to do it lol..im a noob when it comes to things like this etc.
If you dont mind someone, could you explain to me what values you changed and what they were etc??.
Also when you say soft reset the device??..do you mean after ive done the screen re-alignment or after i tweaked the registry of the phone??.
Oh wow! you havnt applied any of the tweaks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
I applied 1, 3, 10, 15, 16, 18.
Don't apply 2, it just ups the tweak you did in 1 from 8b to 16mb, and you run out of memory on the UK rom!
You'll notice a huge difference. To edit the registry you can use sktools or resco explorer (add registry plugin from the menu if its not there).
You can get a trial of resco here:
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/downloads.asp
You need to soft reset after you edited the registry. After you done these, then post again about what you think of it, you'll be surprised at the difference!

Your a star mate, havent applied the tweaks as i only got the phone this morning and sadly ive had to come into the office . But ill give those tweaks a go later tonight...didnt realise it was worth putting them on because i was udner the impression that they only applied to the 1.34 or 1.35 roms.
Thanks again

Kaiser, is still a worth buy??

Hi to all, I'm a quite happy owner of a orbit2 (aka Polaris).
A few days ago I was wondering in a used marcket and I found a used Kaiser at a price that it was impossible a year ago.
I need a second mobile phone and I'm wondering if kaiser is still a wotrh buy, now that there are G1 and G2.
So I ask my question to the Kaiser community....
Thanks to any suggestion
Yes Kaiser\Tilt still worth buy @ good price...
Probably not going to get an unbiased view in a Kaiser\Tilt forum section

Yes, you're probably right, it's difficult that I could have an unbiased answer, but I think that kaiser owner could be disappointed of their device or are looking forward to the new tech, maybe without lack of driver
And I find it at 200 euros...is it a good price?? I think so, maybe because I buy my polaris a year ago at 400
I had the Tilt over a year ago and sold it but just bought another one on eBay days ago for around 190 US.
Worth the buy to me...

Totally agree will possibly find some unhappy Kaiser users
Not sure on the currency value of £ to € in UK £150 - £200 is a good price, the Kaiser is still a very good device, driver issue really not a bigee "well not to me"
Also many ROMs to choose from and the lovely Tilt Keyboard only on TP2 too.
Yep i'm biased

I too am biased. Bought mine on Ebay a year ago for $275US and with all the ROMS to choose from nowadays it hard not to be happy with it.
My Nokia N95 recently died, and so I went hunting on eBay for a new phone (I wanted a Windows Mobile device this time).
I came across the Kaiser at £125 buy it now, so bought it. This was about 2 weeks ago, and I'm planning on putting it back up on eBay now
It's a nice phone, but it's not without it's problems that really annoy me.
The keyboard - I much preferred the number pad on my N95 with the T9 predictive text. The Kaiser has T9, but you still have to use the QWERTY keyboard
No 3.5mm headphone socket. I bought an adapter, and after 4 days of use it fell to pieces this morning.
Stylus - I've lost the pen once already, but found it again in the library.
Crashes - I'm running the Ultimate X V2 ROM, and so far today it's crashed 3 times on me today
No graphics drivers - means I can't play graphics accelerated games, and normal games become laggy
Games become laggy even moreso when you touch the screen whilst playing
If you receive a text and can't view it straight away, if the phone is in your pocket all the touchscreen gets pressed and opens loads of programs
I'm sure there's more but I can't think of it right now!

I picked mine up for £90 on ebay which included the case, spare battery and docking station, bargin or what.
Thomas, I changed from a N95 also to this and I wouldnt go back, try a different ROM, Im using Chinhe wm 6.5F 21501. WM 6.5 is so much better then 6.1 and the Manila 2d interface is excellent. Add a few extra apps like youtube, MyPlayer (BBC I-Player) and shed loads of other things and you will have a excellent device, drop me a pm if you like and ill let you know how i set mine out and you will love it
It all comes down to preference. Personally, I wouldn't buy another tilt for two reasons: VGA screens are MUCH nicer for web browsing, and the recessed screen is substantially less finger-friendly.
Aside from those two issues, though, it's a pretty solid device. I think the Touch Pro is a pretty solid step up, but the Tilt might be worth it depending on price.
I got rid of my Kaiser when I bought both a G1 and a Raphael: G1 is gone and I bought another Kaiser. The Kaiser is cheap (around $165 on ebay if timed right), still more powerful than most phones, super-reliable and strong. Add in the fact that you can unlock them for free and all the software available and this one is sticking with me until it dies. Honestly, the Raphael's screen is nice, but it really doesn't FEEL any faster than the Kaiser. So in the end, all you get is more ram, a sharper screen, and a G-sensor...for $150 more than a Kaiser.
£90 is a bargain!
My Kaiser was on Orange originally, and although it's now unlocked, on any ROM except the Orange (or so it seems) it sends every text twice and charges me double!
I'll have a look at the I-Player software... but I tried Manilla 2D and didn't really like it that much (I seem to have contrasting opinions to everyone else here ).
Now I've got a stable ROM running I must say it is growing on me, especially as I enjoy developing software in C#, and Windows Mobile has the .NET Compact Framework.
Well im currently running Chinhe wm 6.5 21501 v3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509576) . It is quite a lite package but so far it is very stable add to that the Manilla 2d thats pre installed and add the 'New HTC' skin it looks sooooo nice, ive showed it to all my mates including IPhone owners and they have been blown away. I can highly recommend the last FM app (Uk owners only) for live streaming music.
When using the iplayer (myplayer) u need to tweak it to use the steaming player that comes preinstalled.
Ive attached a few goodies for you all, enjoy ya phones, I was a Nokia fan for for 12 years but now im a HTC convert.
I just tried to sell my AT&T Tilt on eBay, not once but twice with a starting price of $150 and didn't get a single bid! If anyone here is interested in it, you can PM me or e-mail me at [email protected]
It has a few scuffs, and a piece of the trim by the SIM holder is broken off, but it works fine (just have to be careful when you are putting the SIM in).

Thats where you went wrong, starting at $150 way to high, if im surfing ebay for something I watch Items and bid at the last min, like what most people do. Start at 99c you will get a hell of alot more interest then $150.
i have the tmobile kaiser since more then 18 months now, quite happy with it. however the newer models from HTC seem to be better and even the latest symbian's from nokia would be worth a try.
depends more on preference / usage / pricing / etc.
you guys in uk get excellent deals with your service providers...
so check everything b4 u decide.

temp phone

hi, got to send my phone back again, so have decided instead of using the crap razr i will buy a cheap used phone from ebay. one that still can be used to receive emails and other info like my x1.
i want a htc, so hear are my choices
htc touch
htc duel touch (nike)
im think the htc nike is the better of the 2.
anyone got any other phones that could be good, please remember im looking for a cheap phone (not a replacement for the x1) about £70-80.

it takes about 2-3 weeks to get the phone repaired, this is the third time in less than a year that i have sent the x1 back.
in the 2-3 weeks period i cant get emails, stocks and other needed info on the spare phone i have (think its a razr v8) what makes like hard. i want a windows mobile phone where i can backup all my pim data and restore it on the temp phone so that i keep getting the needed data.
but wanted a half decent handset.
its quiet upsetting that i cant get on with my life/work because sony does not sort out the cracking problem.
its only been about 2 weeks since i got it back and it cracked 4 days in and they just tell me to send it back for repair (another 2+ weeks)
I would pick the nike from the two you have listed. What price are you looking at?

there is a couple on ebay for about £40 with 4 hours to go, want to pay about £65 but will go to about £80 including postage
Sounds good. It is always useful to have a backup device lying around anyway, so it will be a meaningful purchase.
I'm usually using my old N95 as a backup device, but I recently got a Tytn 2 from a friend really cheap, because I have always liked it haha.

do u this it would be able to rum wm6.5 smoothly? i know there are 6.5 roms on the nike but wondering what sort of drain it would cause to the handset?
G: I'm facing the exact same problem (sending in X1 thus losing essential things like calendar etc) and made the exact same decision: buy a backup. I wanted a phone with a fast processor so got an unlocked LG Incite for 120 USD. It's not HTC, but it has nice specs and with some tweaking is pretty sweet. It'll become a dedicated GPS when I get my X1 back.

it takes about 2-3 weeks to get the phone repaired, this is the third time in less than a year that i have sent the x1 back.
in the 2-3 weeks period i cant get emails, stocks and other needed info on the spare phone i have (think its a razr v8) what makes like hard. i want a windows mobile phone where i can backup all my pim data and restore it on the temp phone so that i keep getting the needed data.
but wanted a half decent handset.
its quiet upsetting that i cant get on with my life/work because sony does not sort out the cracking problem.
its only been about 2 weeks since i got it back and it cracked 4 days in and they just tell me to send it back for repair (another 2+ weeks)

Bro, just used the Razor. Then when your perfect upgrade comes out, buy that phone. Then use your X1 as your temporary phone. This way you don't have to use sub-par devices.

what i was think is wait till the x2 comes out and by that time i would be on my 4th or 5th (maybe even 6th) x1. then make a big fuss and see if i can get it changed for a x2. (in the end sony will have to keep replacing the x1 till they run out of parts, then they will have to give me a x2).

Sony Ericsson bluetooth watch

This thing looks sweet!
Sony Ericsson MBW-150
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2011/11/awesome-bluetooth-watch-at-bargain-price/
Anyone know if it works with Xperia Play? I wonder if I can find it shipped to Canada..
Hey I've been looking around and the only place I've seen these are at Expansys.ca
There are two models mbw200 and mbw150. I think the mbw200 has a bit more features and I think it looks better than the mbw150 but it cost a bit more. The mbw200 cost $73.75, and the mbw150 cost $64.12 and shipping is $27.25.
(I can't post outside links until I have 8 post so just search the watches on expansys)
Not sure how legit expansys is but people have ordered things from there without any problems.
I might get the mbw200 watch but I'm not sure if it works on the Xperia play. People have said that it's working on the Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia X10, and Xperia ARC.
You can also refer to this thread for more info about the watches and how it's used.

I bought one and i am waiting for.
The Mbw-150 and Mbw-200 is pretty the same, the screen of the 200 is a little smaller than the 150, and the 150 is more for men and the 200 can be for men and women.
You can found the mbw-150 in ebay DE for ~55€.
To use on Android you need OpenWach (in the market).
Sorry for my bad english.
Ordered the 150, arrives today, according to tracking
It looks kinda cool, think I'll get one just to dork it out a little

This thing really comes in handy when I'm in meetings at work and can't take my phone out to check my texts.
Going to order the MDW-150 off Amazon sometime this week.
Anyother reviews of the watch?
Don't get it. Horrible battery life and it refuses to stay connected
How do you define "horrible"? I've had it since Friday and still have 2/3 battery left

why you always post this comment on different thread?
The mbw-150 looks awesome. I just added it to my Christmas wish list. It will help me embrace my inner-geek. lol.
EDIT: I did read reviews that there were problems with the OLED display going dim and the watch is discontinued according to sony's site so warranty will be an issue.

I've been using mine for 2 weeks and still have over half battery left on it. I turn off bluetooth when not in use, so essentially ~10 hours/day on.
Strange. I actually got mine last month when their site only had the EU version of the MBW-150. The first charge lasted a day when paired with a Jailbroken iPhone. The second charge lasted three days when doing the same. I charged it on and off a little bit after that (no distinct cycle) and it seemed to be discharging much slower but I had stopped using it due to needing the original Bluetooth stack on my iPhone. Then I bought the Xperia Play specifically for proper MBW-150 support and the third full discharge lasted two whole weeks while paired with my new Android phone!
Give it a chance people. These are new-old stock (NOS) so the batteries are not going to be great. They are probably more discharged than a LiIon cell is ever supposed to get but it looks like it takes it a few charge cycles to reach somewhat normal operation for NOS of a 2006/2007 device. I can live with once a week.
I went ahead and ordered a second to distrubute wear and tear on the battery and OLED screen (all OLED's fade with use and these early ones reportedly do it faster than most). I also ordered a Sony-Ericsson DCU-65 USB cable to connect to the clip charger without the dedicated wall plug and its old Sony Ericsson charge/dock port. With the next cheapest price being over $300, I'm excited to have two for $120. I've had my eyes on one since they were first launched at $500.
