wm5torage with Helmi AKU3 1.2 problem

I'm running Helmi's WM2k5 AKU3.0 v.1.2 Beta rom, but I have a problem with wm5torage.
When I enable it, it shows up on my computer but when I go into the device nothing shows up. I seem to remember it working fine in the AKU2.3 rom.
Anyone else got this problem?

Yes, i have the same problems.
I did a test, and realise that drive letter that you see inside your PC is the "Extended ROM" on your device.
You can make "extended ROM" visible and copy some files to it. and you will be able to see it on your PC.

on all wm5 roms ive tried with extrom support wm5torage uses it, i think it may have somthing to do with the order they are mounted...

I thinks you are right. WM5torage see the first storage only, some ROMs see the SD card and some see extended rom.

Would there be any way around this do you think?

There's a way... Use the new Version Of WM5Storage v1.7 with the ability to select the disk to be mount.
the detection procces in my computer is slow, maybe my firewall, I Dont know for sure, since the author said this app might not work for some device, but give it a try...

I'll try it tonight on your AKU3.2 ROM Helmi, when I get round to upgrading.
It also detects very slow on my PC, but my XBox 360 picks it up straight away so I will use that one.

wm5torage v1.7 works fine on 1.3 Helmi. Good work

I have the same problem with both WM5torage 1.5,1.6,and 1.7 in both Helmi 1.2 and 1.3. When I activate WM5S and dock the BA, I get the windows device connect sound and no drive pops up in explorer. As soon as I undock the BA a removeable drive briefly pops up as the device disconnect sound chimes. What is causing this?

I've not actually tried docking with my PC yet - but it connects fine to my Xbox 360, is recognised and can browse though it and play my music So it might be an OS problem if it won't recognise it on the PC (I run Vista BTW, so that might be my problem).

Same problems , using 1.7 , drive does not show up on windows. And also Storage card disappear from device, must reset device ....

I am running helmi's 1.3 beta and 1.7 wm5torage and it works fine. The only problem is that you need to give almost 5 minutes to it before the drive appears.
I think you guys might be facing the same slowness. Which is why the sound of device connecting and disconnecting is coming.

it says and i quote !!
Can't switch to mass storage usb driver, error 1f. maybe some running programs have files open on storage card, preventing direct access. try to close all running programs.
note that i do NOT have any running programs, or have any programs installed to storage card !!!
all i have on my storage card are mp3s ....
can't seem to make it work !

V1.73 works on Helmi/Logout ROM.
As Naveen_J pointed out, it takes from 3 to 5 minutes to display the drive icon in File Explorer.
The Storage Card is missing after disconnect but taking it out of the slot & reinserting back gets it recognized by BA once again. No need to soft reset.

Do you have installed & running any Today Screen plugin (Resco Today, SPB +. W. Advance Desktop, etc.) that displays SD Card status? In case any of those plugins are running, might be causing the conflict.

HTC Wings and wm5torage problem...

I tried many different versions of wm5torage on my wings, and I can't get one to work I was wondering if it was working for you, S730 owners?
I tried with a 1GB microSD, and a 8GB SDHC with no success at all...even Softick Card Export trial can't give me access to my card
XP recognizes a USB peripheral in the tray, I can even see a removable drive with a letter ( G: ) , but my data isn't there (it's empty) and I can't write on it
I would be glad if someone could help me out...

Tried on mine, I have windows Vista and its working for Me, all directories and files are accesible for Me. I can make a new directory on the card.

I'd also like to get WM5torage working on the S730 with WM6.1. I'm trying v1.80. A Removable Disk (G appears in Vista but if I click it I get an error message saying that it needs to be formatted.

You know, I think mykie has a T-Mobile Wing and not an HTC Wings.
The Wings has a bad USB driver that can't properly be used by WM5torage, if I understood it correctly.
On the Kaiser (which has the same chipset as the Wings and surely the same drivers), they managed to make wm5torage work by installing Softick CardExport too (which installs his own USB driver, that wm5torage can use afterwards).
I couldn't reproduce it on the Wings with the SP version of CardExport

frem, I did not find a solution to this problem yet. I'm using an USB stick where you can put your sdcard in.
jivo, it's the wingS we're speaking about.

I won't think wm5torage works for anything anymore :-/ At least on my kaiser it fails all of the time. I just plugged it into a Vista machine and I love how easy it is to just access the storage card. Vista would get rid of any desire for WM5torage other than the fact that everyone doesn't run Vista.

It's worked before hw service (new displey) and before flash to 6.1. WMStorage working at my Mteor WM6.1. I don;t know where is problem at Wings. I am sorry.

TomTom brakes WM6 Installation on Kaiser.

My TYTN II has been rendered half-working for a second time. Both times this happened after Tom Tom was installed.
I have 4 GB SD Card. I use TomTom by copying all files/directories from the TomTom provided MicroSD card to the root of my 4 GB SD card. There are also other directories ( i.e Program Files ) in the root of the SD card.
The first time it broke , I simply run the TomTom Update function from within TomTom. It downloaded an update , installed it and then broke the device/Windows Media installation.
When it “brakes” the Windows Media 6 installation , it renders the mobile OS half working. The buttons on the side - TurnOff/On and Camera buttons - stop working. The device itself becomes very slows – it takes 2 secs to go into Programs. The camera application starts but then nothing happens when you tap the on-screen functions /buttons. , The device will not rotate the screen when using the external keyboard , TomTom stops starting at all.
The second time TomTom broke my device was after simply starting TomTom – it hung and after a soft reset my device was left in the same state.
Device:
HTC TYTN II Kaiser / Vario III
ROM ver 1.56.110.4
Windows Mobile 6
TomTom ver 6.010.

try intsalling tomtom 6.030 which can be found in the kaiser wiki. I have that installed on my kaiser and have no problems, then just copy the maps you want over to your storage card.

I am not sure where I can get the latest version from ! I don't have any TomTom versions on my Kaiser CD and I didn't find any updates downloads on tomtom.com. Tomtom Home is saying may device doesn't need updates.
The only thing i can re-try is to reinstall the whole device and then run update from within TomTom but then this broke the device once already ..

Try using a torrent or p2p... Im running a recent copy without a problem, make sure its a recent build, also i found works better if you assign the gps the microsoft bluetooth gps serial port and reshared to tomtom with that

I will try although I have always been wary of running exes from the internet on my Windows Box be it mobile or not.
Anyway , it turns out the problem is not specifically within TomTom 6.010 but has to do with the fact that I am running another app , a dictionary, besides TomTom. After uninstalling the the App , the device works fine.
I am very angry with TomTom support though , whose response was , as expected - "TomTom works on the Manufacturer provided 1 GB SD card - use it from there. If you have problems call HTC" .

USB Async 4.5 Problem

Hi,
since a couple of days, my XDA II doesn't sync any more. It has still worked finefor a long time, since I have updated to WM6.
With my Orbit 1 async is always working fine.
When I connect it to the PC, the PC is always looking for a USB Driver.
Configuration:
Win XP; Async 4.5
XDAII WM6 by Shekhar 70C40CS
What I've tried: - changing USB-Connection and cable
- hard and Softreset
- changing USB to PC advanced network
- reinstalled async
- trying another PC
- reinstalling WM6 - no way, cause there is no USB driver
Maybe, that it is a hardware problem; but I doubt it, cause everytime, when I connect it to the PC, the PC ist trying to install a driver. So I think, there might be a software problem into the Himalaya.
Any ideas?

Sync problem - missing Driver.
Same problem with me on my notebook. Ask for help in another thread a few week ago, and got the advice to swith to active sync 4.5. I did so on my desctop and it worked wonderfull. On my notebook I stayed on as 3.8 because of my xda II and my old mda I. After I upgraded all my three xda to German WM6 i switched to as 4.5 german. I was verry suprised to get that fault window about the missing driver for that prototype thing and changing the vendor.
Not a mess I still have the desktop to install .exe and then copy the .cab files I need to my sd-cards. It´s not the known problem with the firewall (zone alarm), but it is a good question why as an the desctop works and the notebook doesn´t. Next I try to install the copied as-file from the desktop. Don´t know if it helps, I post if it does.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem, but I solved it in seconds because of Your last thread, thanx.
I had configured my windows firewall with "no exceptions".
I reactivated /checked the firewall-exceptions for ActiveSync on the PC and activated the extended networkfunctions under usb to pc on the xda and immediately everything worked fine.

I got rid of that dammned thing about the missing driver for Prototype.

Insert in /windows with the name changed, rename it afterwards.
No question, why this is possible without the massage that it is impossible, as you get it, when you try to replace directly, but it works!!
Then soft reset and change /settings/connections Advanced Network Funtionality to disable/unchequed.
The funny thing with me is, that on my Dektop-PC both works.
Advanced Network Funktionality enabled the driver is for the Prototype.
This funktion disabled finds a WinCe Device.
Both works fine. No freesed PPC when disabled any more.
On my own notebook I can connect to the PC only in disabled Mode. When enabled this prototype driver problem is still there.
On the notebook of my beloved wife as4.0 recognizes the PPC an a WinCE Device but has a problem code 10. Think it´s normal as it is 4.0 and 4.5 installs new usbdriver while upgrading.
I tryed to upgrade to 4.5 and the windows installer crashed. I love it, really nice. I don´t want to fix this, I think, for me it is OK to ignore this.
This funny behavior, as i discribed it above, all my upgraded XDA/Qtek (all three of them) do.
PS. I use the German Rom of Teijalk with HTC Home and SCLPC++ Cube and I love it. Works perfekt and really fast and stable even with lots of proggis on RamDisk and few RAMStorage left, still really fast with my Pluscom WLan Card.

The info above is wrong.
Only on my Qtek this solved my problem. Both of my XDA can´t deaktivate RDNIS for serial connection, when I try to uncheque Advanced Net Funktionality.
Don´t know why, I did the same on the other device without an error.
(Now I examined, that I used Port 8 twice. Once for serial to USB connection and second for external GPS connection, so it wasn´t able to deactivate this funktion anymore. I changed Port and everything is fine again.)

Final problem solved
totoche330 got the solution to my XDA sync problem in the thread above.
After Hard reset (No,Yes,Yes) inserting and renaming the dll. Soft reset and deactivating adv net funktionality. Works.
Don´t know why it didn´t work as it worked with my Qtek with all the programs installed, but dosn´t matter.
The problem of my notebook might have some reason:
The missing driver is called a Remote Network Driver Interface Specification to USB (RNDIS).
I think, I disabled everything to remote, because of one up to 25 trojan attacks.
I cured my xp, but i didn´t do a new setup. On the other hand it´s the only XP-Pro SP2. Desktop and other notebook are Home Edition SP2, but this is not important anymore. All PPC sync and that´s what it was about.
Two or three hours work and all the progs are back again. I hope, you can solve your problems too. Good Luck.
Does noone can write a driver for the cf-slot of the backpack?
Sometimes after soft reset you have to cheque and uncheque adv net funktionality inorder to get synced!!

Softick CardExport II/WM5Storage problem with Windows Mobile 6.1

As you might probably knew already, Windows Mobile 6.1 is having problem with USB mass storage emulation software like SoftTick CardExport or WM5Storage.

And I believe (hope) that it will also benefit the WM5Storage (I still remember that in the olden days, we need to install Softick trial version to make the WM5Storage work).

I upgraded my Kaiser yesterday to official WM6.1 and wasn't aware of this problem yet:
infact I've a x51v WM6.1(LennySH Dell Stock Beta 7) and with Card Export II 3.08 I can explore both SDHC cards from my PC-XP.
So the problem with Card Export II,probably,is linked to Kaiser and not to WM6.1

Just curious, but what problem are you having? I am using Card Export II 3.11 with Dutty's 4/29/08 6.1 rom on my Tilt and all seems to be working fine.

Hi, i have a Problem too. When i activate WM5torage, my windows recognize my sd card as a usb stick, but i can't grab on it. My Windows show me the Message "Its not Card in", But it is a card in. Can one help me.

Its now FIXED!! and works great for wm 6.1 upgrades. My tilt is now whacking across over a gig of photo files without stopping for a pause. USB settings DO NOT need messing with nor do any of the CardExport functions.
Install.....and use as a mass storage device. I did not need to play around with any of the settings either PPC or PC end.

I've flashed about 10 to 15 WM6.1 ROMs and have used Card Export II successfully in every single ROM. I don't think it's a 6.1 problem.

Cooking CardExort II into a ROM?
I have tried a few times to make an OEM package out of CardExport II but have never managed to get it to work. I installed the Application, copied all the files off and did a registry export. I then searched through the exported registry file and extracted all (I think?) the CardExport II entries and built an OEM package. So I have at the moment an almost working package however when the application is launched and you click connect, ActiveSync disconnects OK, then a few seconds later the big button on the Kaiser turns from Disconnect back to Connect and ActiveSync re-connects.
Has anyone sucessfully made an OEM package of CardExport II to include in a ROM?

and what is a serial number???

hi you have written that cardexport work for you,. I downloaded it from your link and installed but it doesnt work and it needs serial number(with any ROM i have tested so far)...how did you fix it?

You could fix it by sending a few dollars towards the developer. Best 15 bucks I ever spent on windows mobile software.

I use Windows mobile 6.1 and it works fine for me. They have the best protection on the software I have seen and I believe it still hasnt been cracked. Most people who have a problem with this software are using a cracked version which doesent stay cracked for very long, it then stops working in many different ways IE on the website's FAQ

my problem is at wm5torage:
when I start a java application it doesn´t work. It comes the error:
"Cant´t switch to Mass Storage USB driver, error 1f. Maybe some programs or plugins run from or have files open on storage card...."
But I have no contact at this time to the SD-Card.
Card Export works at the same place. But it isn´t free, so I try to use WM5torage, because it is free.
Can anybody help me with this problem?
