Screensavers for wizard. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

hey guys I just thought I would post this here for everyone else to use if theyre interested. Its an application called PocketCandy that has several screensavers included which can be configured to only come on when device is on external power to conserve battery power.
I find it to be a nice little extra when your device is sitting in it's cradle so you don't have to stare at the today screen all day.
My personal favorite is the matrix screensaver but there are others to choose from.

thanks for this
working on my wizard,
can we add other screen savers?

Recommendations for apps for a Tilt noob?

Hi,
New to the ppc world and just got the Tilt on 10/18. Love it btw-and have figured out how to uninstall most of the bloatware that ATT includes, and also have figured out cab install.
So here's my question/s? Just a few if anyone would care to help-
1)Whats a good weather app that appears on the today screen that doesn't take up lots of real estate?
2) any suggestions for a good basic GPS app? (nothin fancy-don't want to pay ATT's monthly Telenav/saw google's already)
and last but not least--
3) Any way to put a power on/off icon on the today screen?
(I have fat finger syndrome-lol-and the power button on the side is a pita)
any suggestions are appreciated; along with any other "must have" apps.
Thanks,
Alemaker

The weather that comes with "HTC home" is my favorite.
Good basic GPS would either be Google maps - free if you have internet or (tomtom or Iguidance)
3) there's a few yes. I use pbar, but that's even smaller

Stock Ticker On Today Screen

I am looking for a very simple stock market ticker that would display on today screen, nothing fancy, just enter the symbols and it would show as a ticker, perhaps 1/4" in height.
I wish the HTC Today Plugin had another button very similar to weather that would display some stock market information.
That would be great, but it should also have a good collection of settings for updating... such as always update when (otherwise) connected or to initiate a connection...
The ticker should show the quotes age while market is open, then show the close price... (Maybe an option to connect for just that?)
I have been searching the internet to find such an application but no luck, the only thing I found was here http://www.magnifoca.com/ but they only make the software for a smartphone, take a look at the ticker, that's exactly what I am looking for, no bels and whistles.
I'm interested in a stock ticker too.. any news on one?
I am surprised with so much talent out there that nobody wrote such an application, like I said magnifoca has one but it's only for smartphones, I e-mailed them couple of times but no response. There are many such programs for PC's and I am sure it's not that difficult to port it to pocket pc's.
Have you tried that Smartphone program on a Pocket PC? Some Smartphone programs run fine on a PPC.

Very cool!!
I just installed this on my Kaiser and it's a keeper. Can I join development on this? I would like the background to have an option to go green or red on each update if the price went up or down.

New Pointui Home 1.02b released with native support for smartphones

Can somebody test it on s730? Share your exprerience! Seems to me that it could bring more free RAM, more battery life, speedy reaction
Many new features, f.e.:
* smartphones support
* new black skin
* battery saving
* bluetooth switching on/off during call (also battery saving)
* speed increasing
http://pointui.com
Works well..sometimes a little bit slowly.
I'd locked my S730 by this tool.
Can anyone tell me how to unlock this?
New Features:
Lock screen can now be used on smartphones - you press up then down on dpad.
Yea, I have been using this SW for some hours and i love it!
Has some minor bugs. I cannot keylock the unit as ususal.
Then the home program shuts down. So I have to use the keylock that is built inn to this SW..
But now that I am used to this, it is actually better that the standard.
It also bugs up some times when using Comm Manager, I have not yet figured out when exactly this problem accures,
but Home then sometimes shuts down, and I have to restart the program..
But other than that its perfect. Fast, smooth fading menues, and looks great!

Thanks for your opinion, this SW little bit change the behavior of the HW, but according the programmer´s goal. The previous member contribution is typical, people does not like to read the manuals, sometimes problem is not problem it is a purpose how to use the HW effectively and users are lazy to read the changelogs .

I know what you mean
A little "Tip" if anyone wants to try this program on the S730.
I had to change the HTC Home settings "Time Out" to Never. Or else the it would go back to the original HTC Home after
10 minutes. (Depending on the settings)
Looks nice but too limited for my liking just yet.
Like, I want to be able to see the time AND appointments on the home screen, without having to scroll.
It should have more user-definable input, without having to get out a registry editor. It also needs some work to make it suitable for smartphones, like being able to add stuff to the icon bar on the home screen. Also, the application bar only shows icons in the Start Menu/Programs folder by default. I couldn't see any options to change it, or even a button to move back up the directory tree to where my icons actually are.
A working uninstall procedure would be good too!!
I agree with the mad ferret.
the customization is missing. for example where is the option to create a "favorite apps list"?
i really like its fast responsiveness!!! i wish windows mobile could develop something like that as native windows mobile software. so smooth and with such neat design. why cant they? are they ****ing retarded? instead we get slow menues and ugly lists like on phones of 1998. cant windows work with people wh o can create such amazing software and integrate it natively? cant they develop something like this themselfes? WTF
anyway, pointui is a very amazing piece of software. however, whenever i press "running programs" it freezes.... the update function doesnt work.
i prefer smarttoolkit!!
http://smarttoolkit.softonic.de/windowsmobile
Everything that's supposed to work with PointUI, works for me on my HTC S710/Vox. I do hope for more features and I am sure the developers are hard at work, but what it is now - it can only get better since it's amazing. I hope for it to run at system level, apart from that it's superb so far!
I've been using it for about a week now. I love the clean look, but I'm having one major issue. My number keys and my green key do nothing so I can't call any number that is not in my contacts without going back to the WM Home screen.
Anyone else have this problem? Or better yet, know how I can fix it?
But, yeah other than that I really like pointui. Hopefully the next release comes soon.

Diamond novice needs your help... PLS!!!

After having a Touch a few months back, i thought the Diamond would be a breeze. NO such luck in my experience.
For example. On the main home screen. How do you edit that so it's just the clock or, to add more to the list that currently shows calendar and call history? I can't find any way to do this so if you can enlighten me, i'd really appreciate it.
What about when texting? Is there any way to make the keypad a different size? Personally i can't find a way to edit that. It's annoying that after adding your contacts name, you seemingly have 90% of the screen filled with the entry system and you have to mess about to get to the message section of the screen. Guessing i've missed something somewhere!
Zooming in on a photo... how is that done? Orange's CD ROM User Manual is vague to say the least so if you can assist here to, please do.
This thread could become a handy hints and tips chart for beginners if all feedback is good so if you have a question or some simple advice for settings and the way to go around things, chuck a note in and someone will be very happy to see the reply
1) Well if u flick ur finger in an upward motion on the home screen u'll notice the clock becoming smaller and will list all the list all ur appointments from ur calendar...
2) If u are not satisfied in the HTC Keyboard, u will need to look into other keyboards my fav personally is Touchpal from Cootek and there is even resco keyboard which is pretty gud.
3) You can only zoom in a picture when u r in the HTC Album, in order to zoom you will need to rotate your finger clockwise or anti-clockwise i am always forget which is for zooming so u will need chk tht out...
I hope these tips helps u out....

Hmmmmmm, i see. Shame that somehow we can't take the good things from the Touch like the Home screen as standard and have them in the 3D instead. If any cab compilers are reading this, maybe it's something that could be done?
Along those lines, maybe someone could rip out the original texting keyboard, the smaller more compact one... better for stylus use and enables you to see more screen. I HATE the big finger pad they've put on the Diamond. Is is really necessary to have it that big? Surely if you're going to use the stylus (i mean if HTC didn't want us to use one, then ALL the functions and menus would be larger, yes?), then why provide us with one in the first place?!?!!

There are multiple SIPs already built into the Diamond. Holding your finger or stylus on the small arrow next to the keypad button when input is allowed will display the menu, from there you can select the Windows SIP which is tiny and stylus friendly...
Reading the manual is a good idea before posting dude. Or even a search

That took no time at all. NO WINDOWS SIP on my handset. All i have are the following... BLOCK, COMPACT, FULL, KEYBOARD, LETTER, PHONEPAD and TRANSCRIBER *sigh*
What bloody version have you got?!?!!
Oh and for the record Mr Read-The-Text-Provided (lol)... did i not say this? ---> Orange's CD ROM User Manual is vague to say the least so if you can assist here to, please do.
Hmmmmm, i think i did!
Ok... answer this one then. Every other HTC phone i have had has done this but not on the Diamond. When you receive a simple thing like an mms or a text, the screen lights to give a clue in case you never heard the message laert. How you you activate THAT cus i'm not seeing how it'ds done anywhere.
Clues please?
I agree - the 'manual/instructions' Orange sent were non-existent and as a first time PPC user I was totally lost until I had a nosey around here and to be fair am still learning all what this phone can do!

HTC want a good kicking if you ask me. The thing as I see it is this. If they'd have kept the basics as it was on the Kaiser (Tytn II) and THEN added the 3D, all would have been superb.

Thanks for that chap. My tone? Oh well if i've offended anyone then i apologise. I'm just a bit jumpy when things don't go according to plan and my comments come over as slightly abrasive when in fact, they're supposed to come over as a normal question but in a jokey type manner. I get that in a face to face sitation to so i know exactly what you're saying.

Newbie....

Hi All
Looking to get a HTC One next week, and just have a few questions:
1) Can I change the colour notifications of the LED for different notifications i.e. email and text etc? Been told the LED will not support apps to change colour.
2) Is there a good desktop dock/charger?
Cheers
1) it only has red and green LED, so no
2) so far I've only seen this one http://www.gadgets4geeks.com.au/product/htc_one_m7_cover_mate_desktop_cradle (also available on ebay)
Great, thanks very much. I'm from the UK, so having trouble finding that dock!
So I can set say green to text messages, and red to emails?
Also, what are the best screen protectors?
Thanks again
Here is an eBay link to the dock:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=200912701262
No you can't change the colour of the led for certain notifications I'm afraid. Green is for messages/emails/etc (and when fully charged) and red is used when charging.
As for the screen protector, I don't know much about these since I don't use them personally, but a lot of others seem to like the Spigen one ( http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Protector-Steinheil-Crystal/dp/B00BUF7EI0/)
Thanks for this info, much appreciated.
Shame about the light, I've got used to the different colours!
Has anyone used this dock? Quality?
Any tip for first powering this on and setting up? Also, my Blackberry has a find my phone function, anything similar on these?
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

No problem, glad I can help
there was a whole thread discussing that particular dock over here.
Setting up is really easy, you can add some accounts during the first boot setup menu which automatically pops up, and then you're good to go. Then all you need to do is go to the Play Store and download the apps you want and plug it in your computer to get your music and photos on it (and other things if you want to)
There are several find my phone apps available in the Play Store, and many anti-virus programs come with anti-theft built in. Htc used to have an official find my phone service, but I think they abandoned it.
