Ok I have searched hi and low though these forums to try and learn how to upgrade or change roms through verious methods. Either the search button sucks or there is no info on how to do upgrades. I think that if there is a write up on how to upgrade it should be stickied.
The only method I found was the one in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14912&highlight=temp thread by ohmlogic
Try here:

So are you saying that Himalaya and Blueangel are upgraded pretty much the same way ??
isn't that what i answered you 7 hours ago?

Hi
Brand new QTEK9100 and trying to load tomtom5 - inserting the mini sd programme boots up and gives initial install screen for a second or so then disapears - nothing else happens - what am i doing wrong ?
thanks
Search the forum, there are (already far too) many topics about TT5 on the Wizard.
Frenchie, It's sad that people like Molski, who started on this forum with same problems as you have and I had, can answer in this "clever" way.
I finally got my Qtek running with TT5.
It would be good to upgrade your Wizard to a aku 2.+. Use one of the ROMs on the ftp, first unlock your SIM using Awizard (also available on the xda ftp).
Go to the TOMTOM site and download the update 5.21.
Pair your BT on com 7 before installing TT5. Start the TT5 update and install.
What did it for me was to switch of my BT and to switch it on at the same time as starting TT5 the first time, then go to settings, other BT and choose com 7. Now it should start and work.

I also asked a lot of stuff...but NOT questions that are asked a 1000 times already like "how do I upgrade my Rom" or "how do I install TT5", because the answers to all this questions are given many many times on this forum!
The search page is really one of my favourite pages of this forum.
It's SAD to see that new members are asking questions (that are asked about 5-10 times a week) without even take one look at the search page.
Regards,
Molski.

First, you must CID unlock your phone if you want to use either a custom Rom or a Rom from another carrier. SIM unlock only allows you to use another carrier's SIM in your phone. Search for "CID Unlock" you'll find what you need to know.
Second, it is sad when you come here feeling entitled to have others who have taken the time and effort to read these great forums just answer every single question time and time again. I guess you think you're special because none of your friends have a Wizard and you want to show them how cool you can make it but don't want to do the work?
Having a Wizard doesn't make anyone special here. In fact most of us have owned more than 1 Windows Mobile phone. Personally I started with Nokia Smartphones running Symbian and graduated to Windows Mobile 2003. Then I moved up to Windows Mobile 2005.
I was a newbie once but I didn't just come in ask ask with reckless abandon. I spent time reading the forums. It's amazing how well things will work for you if you actually take the time to search and read-up on this great little device.
There is a wealth of information here and you will get all of the help you could ever want if you will just put in a little effort.
It's a forum, meaning you can ask, ask, ask............
I did and will.
@Vilem
Never read THIS:
1. Check if something hasn't been asked before
Some questions just keep popping up over and over. Please use the 'search' function in the menu above each and every page in the forum. Try entering a few keywords to see if your question has been asked before. If it has, please read the topics and see if you can figure it our from there.
(We acknowledge that part of the problem is that we never created a well-organized system of FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) documents. But then we're doing lots of cutting-edge stuff, and we'd rather build cool tools than work on perfecting FAQs.)
It belongs to the STICKY "Please read this before posting", but I taka a wild guess that you never read this!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4534
Yes I did, and I also tried all remarks/suggestions on the forum, which in my case didn't work. So I re-issued my question and never ever received a comment or answer back.
It can happen, as in my case, that people have problems which are not mentioned earlier. Even you could have something like that, then it would be helpfull if there are people who would help.
Molski, see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53317&highlight=
Okay, thats true, but that does NOT mean that you can ask, ask, ask about everything pal
Oh I didnt know you could ask about everything but now i know here goes.
I'm trying to get a new business plan down on paper and every morning when i start i move onto something else like thread hopping. is there a cure to this problem and do i need a firmware upgrade?
bhayani
ps did a search bit no luck. Not all answers are on there, BUT most are.
this thread could easily be put to bed right now as long as noone replies to it.
tempting...............
O.k I'll stop.
At work we are getting Orbit 2s (Touch Cruise). I played with one and love the Touch Cube software. Is this availiable for the Kaiser???
Thanks.

Haha, ROFL, that's a nice one!
You're joking right?
Before you get ripped a new one by various members, I suggest you read the links in my signature. There you will find rules on posting and suggestions for searching and how to use the wiki (the wiki will tell you all about the cube). The link for the wiki is at the top labeled xda-wiki. Just click on the kaiser and spend some time there.
The short answer for you is YES.
u gotta be sh**ting me. I usually never flame for repeatable questions, but this is rediculous.
SEARCH. There's a godzillion of threads on this. There's LOTS of different versions of Cube for kaiser.
Search = instant gratification. Just keep repeating that to yourself.
I have searched found something about HTC Cube, something about tweaking the reg and "cooking Roms" but no links to something to download.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Cube
Almost every cube can be found there (Byka's and some older ones are missing), with download links. All of them work fine on the Kaiser.
If you have a question regarding one of those cubes, please post it in the appropriate thread.
Op has answer required. Closing redundant thread (sorry, no hammer )
Hey all,
I have just received my Diamond and was just wondering what essential software i should download/buy to make the most of the phone. I was also wondering what Navigation people recommend to get, Tomtom, Garmin or iGo.
Thanks all in advance
And if you do search you will find several topics with - Diamond essential sofwtare, as well as Best GPS choice (with polls) and others !!!
Do you think that you need to settle new topic for that to let all repeat their opinion for xxxxx times ? Don`t be lazy and search
Supermans gps works best!
Seriusly. do a search...

look man i dont think that you read the roles of this forum
one of the forum roles is that you need to search before opening any new thread
here u have it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406795
now that we get this sorted, i have to say my opinion on this even it is not specific to this thread.
imagine that only a hundred of the thousands new diamond users will get here and without:
1. reading the rules of this forum (this forum like all forums has it's rules).
2. reading a few existing threads at least a page or two.
3. using the search
4. reading the user manual
they'll start new threads with the same subjects about apps, how to flash, what is hard spl, gps problem, battery life and so on, and so on...
we have to discourage this. we have to teach the noobs to use this forum and not to spam it. let them read and experiment. that's the only way they'll learn something or we'll have to keep piggyback caries them and they'll keep getting in the way.
i was also a noob i know it not easy, i was flamed and many times didn't get my answers. the forum was not full of tutorials like he is today. i have read and read until i was confident enough to experiment.
there are many interesting threads that got pushed away in second or third page because of some useless, redundant thread by noobs that don't bother to read the manual!
now, thank you for keeping this forum clean!
Hi all,
Does anybody have the Xperia Vodafone UK ROM?
I know that this question has been posted on here numerous times, because I have sifted through the posts looking for this ROM. I have even contacted members of this forum personally to try and obtain this ROM. Sorry to post on this topic AGAIN, but I desperately need this ROM for warranty purposes.
Any help is very much appreciated.
The Dog
go to the search at the top of the forum
type in the words
xperia vodafone uk rom dumped
and see what happens.
alternatively look through the xperia roms and guides thread, maybe you didn't bother "sifting" past page 7 'cos it's on page 8.
Yea cheers for the info "Sherlock". Funnily enough that page already has an entry in my browser history...
The problem is that the link on page 8 does not work, hence the purpose of my original post.
Although your post did provide some useful information related to my query, next time do everyone and pull your head out of your arse (ass) before making a post of your own.

Listen very carefully.. I really don't like that attitude.
I took the time to rebuild the stock VFUK rom, i posted it.
The link does work, because I've just tested it.
It is on page 8 of the xperia roms thread, which points to here.
ftp://minftp.myftp.org/XperiaX1i/ROMs/VFUK-rebuilt/
The file is called RUU_signed.nbh
Now if you thought the link didn't work then you should of ;
a) said that you'd tried the link.
b) checked to see if anyone else had the problem,
c) if you had that page bookmarked then you'd know that I posted it, yet you didn't ask me for it
So next time as a new member I suggest you be a damn sight more polite!

No!
You need a vodafone touchHD rom!
But I can't find it...
Maybe vodafone never sell touchHD and there is no vodafone rom for it...
no, they dont sell them. orange and o2 are the only ones. a well, ill stick to my 6.5 rom...... think it would be hard to go back anyway.
thanks
