Sorry guys, maybe this is not the right place where to post this, but i'm new and i need your help.
I bought a TyTN II that come with a Trial version of TomTom but i can only download one map. I tryed to put the maps i purchased in the memory card, but i'm not able to make them to work.
Then i disinstalled the trial version and i install TT6 and it work perfectly, but i need to use an external GPS because in the version of my TT6 there isn't the build in GPS.
There is a driver to make it work?
Thx in advance.

Yes there is you go to tomtom configuration and select other NMEA as the GPS device setting.
PS I will merge this with existing tomtom GPS threads in a while!!
Mike
You mean i can use the TT6 with the built in GPS like that?
Great!!! and thx!
How about if i want to use the TT6 that come with the TyTN II and the maps i purchased before?
Is that also possible, or that version can work only with the map you download?
I really can't figure out where to put the folders with others maps
Anyway thank you so much i will try what you told me.

YES - you can use it like that - it works very well. (some folks have to as they do not get the free version on disk)
I use my original tomtom but I believe you can use the one from the disk alongside your previously purchased maps - so long as the maps is in the right location -

I have a feeling that this will become quite a discussed post. The *taster* version of TT that comes with the Kaiser allows you to download only one map - and the selection is limited.
I have a TomTom Go in my car and was wondering if I can use the map data from there? I have all of Western Europe. Obviously I'll need a memory card capable of holding it but the real question is - can you use TT Go maps on TT Mobile?
R
I suspect that the maps are attached to a particular device.
Depends on the map version you have.
I guess the Kaiser has a version 6 Tomtom. Therefore you need at least map designed for that version.
In general the maps for the Go and the WM versions of TomTom are identical. Theoretically it should work.
BUT:
Apart from that you also need a device specific activation code belonging to the map/device combination. Your maps are obviously allready activated for your Go, so you cannot activate them on a second device.
Maybe the TomTom helpdesk (forum on their site) can help you out.
Taster version of TomTom with Kaiser......is it possible to uninstall it so that I can install my own tomtom which I have got on my current sd card in trinity, as it is activated and with all maps? I mean, is this tatser verison included in ROM or is it removable from settings?
Thanks

I believe i noticed in the "retail TyTN II unboxing" video, that TomTom resides on a CD with applications in the box.... So that would mean you have to install it yourself, and in that case you can go with your own full copy of TomTom...
What i would like to know is, if version 6.030 from my Trinity will run smoothly on the Kaiser...???

tomtotm isnt on the rom. so there will be no need to uninstall anything. just put your version on and use it. its supplied on the software disk. I'll be putting my own version of tomtom onmine when i get my micro sd card hopefully tomorrow
but the version on the CD Rom is the latest (6.0.32)
the 6.0.32 version of TTN6 is specific for WM devices with built-in GPS, like the Kaiser.
So, best option is to use the app from the kaiser package and your own maps.
I think you can just copy the map folder from the TomTom Go to an microSD card and see if it is working.
I bet it is.

Legally? No. TomTom licenses you maps per device, so what you have is licensed to your GO.
Practically? Yes. You'll need one of the many keygens out there....
Can you nav guys help. I've never used GPS with my TyTN. I'm considering a TyTN II and have some questions.
Can you use the built in GPR without an external antennae with Google Maps with the TyTN II? Or do you need the TomTom or other software?
I like using Google maps.

You don't need an antenna or extra software like tomtom. Sometimes it's a bit fiddly setting up the ports to use to get say Google Maps or other software to see the inbuilt GPS - but you get there in the end!

Mike:
Thanks again for your reply. I think I may pick up the TyTN II here pretty quickly. I just wanted to hear that the built in GPS actually does something.

What port are you using in Googlemaps? I've left it at auto, which doesn't work :S
Thanks!
People said that Googlemaps is not so friendly with long waiting to get satelite fix. So, Googlemaps tend to disconnect and wont tell you anything.
The workaround (not nice btw), is to start TomTom to get satelite fix, then quit.
After that Googlemaps will be able to connect to the GPS and works fine.
But, sorry for asking, what are the good things of Googlemaps compare to, let say TomTom or Route66, etc. Of course, it is FREE, but other than that?
Is Googlemaps available for all continent (Europe?) ?
bear in mind that google maps is an API, not just a web site.
It is possible to write location sharing apps etc for google maps, a mobile interface would be very cool.
Guys where on earth is the tomtom cab file for version 6? I only got 2 cd's, 1 applications which only has 3 apps (but not tomtom) and the starter cd which I did look all over? Is there more than 2 cd's?
Please help, I just got the kaiser today and want to install tomtom.

I don't have Tomtom6 on any CDs either , I got the units from SuperiorGadgets, they are HTC Tytn II. And I tried Mapopolis, map4pda, igo 2007, Destinator 6, none can see GPS.
What is the hardware port? I checked the GPS CP app, it shows COM4: as software, none for hardware. I tried couple of settings there, none worked so far.
i have a SD Card that came with TomTom Go 510 GPS Unit which has US and canada Maps. My question is: can i Use this map with TomTom navigator 6 on my Tilt?
Thanks,
Yes you can,as long as it is a v6 map if the map is version 7 then no you cant

Welcome to XDA-Dev
For your information - the TyTn is the Hermes You have posted in the Hermes forum. BUT you have a TyTn II which as you know is a Tilt otherwise known as an HTC Kaiser.
Moving thread to the Kaiser General Forum.

Please don't ask this question here. This is a different question than the OP asked. That being said, GPS programs such as iGo and TomTom do not use your data connection. Google Maps does, however.

The easiest way I know to do this is to copy your maps to you computer, download and install TomTom Home (free) and import your maps into it. From there you can check your map versions, and even upgrade to newer versions if necessary.
or you could just press the gps bars then press the version number on the screen of your tomtom, above the done button and it will tell you what version your map is
Which GPS software works best?
I am having difficulty installing CoPilot 7 (came with my Cruise but I never used it so I have the license and maps). I'm looking for something that has support for GCC maps because I'm in Dubai
Can I ask what issues you are having with installing Copilot? I was thinking of running Copilot 7 when I get my device and would be interested to hear. Is it because the Diamond doesn't have an MicroSD slot and Copilot only comes on SD? Or is it because it is a Cruise specific version?
Incidently, found this on the Copilot support site ("How do I recreate my V7 PPC SD card ?") which may help...
http://support.alk.eu.com/cgi-bin/alk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=649&p_created=1194449850&p_sid=v9jItB5j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0yMDUmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1
Looking at the PDF it contains, it theoretically should allow you to install to and run on the Diamond. Don't know until I get my Diamond, but worth a go.
Good luck.
I'd really like to get Copilot working. The one I have is Copilot 7 but the message I get is "you are not authorized to install this version of the software on this device" - although the Copilot Central [PC] software recognises the phone as a compatible device!
Did you register Copilot on your Cruise?
Have you posted a support question to ALK? They may have an answer.
Sounds like its either pre-registered on another device, or more likely, it isn't compatible with WM6.1. Have you downloaded the latest version through Copliot Live. I think they did an update amonth or so ago. Hopefully that may be WM 6.1 compatible.
I got my Cruise in April and never registered or even installed Copilot so it's definitely not been used. Still fiddling around with it before I post a support question as I've only had the phone a few hours. Thanks for the tip- checking now for an update
I haven't got my diamond ... yet.
But with Co-pilot 6 I had a similar error, and needed to "uninstall" the license via the web just to upgrade 6.0.1 to 6.0.4. In CP6 this was a bit of a pain, according to the documentation it should be easier with CP7??

i have been having the same sort of problems as you did, i ca't figure out which GPS program to use with my HTC Diamond, and it's a hassle finding maps for Egypt and that are also compatible with the program.
Can you help out in any of these points, i'd apreciate it.

Where did you get the upgrade from if you don't mind me asking.
I used to have a Cruse (with TT), then I lost it just as the MWg Atom V came out So I purchased CoPilot 7 at the same time but never installed it when I realised the MWg was a load of C*********. Now I have a Diamond and an unused CoPilot 7 that I would like to use. I have used the update in the CoPilot Central program. but still no joy.

Possible upgrade to Copilot Central required - I had a similar problem
This was the instruction I was sent by ALK...
1. Please ensure you have exited CoPilot Central on your PC
2. Download the Central Update by going to http://www.alk.eu.com/files/v7/Central_v0.5.52.4_patch.exe and click OPEN / RUN when asked to in your web browser.
3. You should see a message saying "This patch will update CoPilot Central to the latest version". Click OK to proceed
4. Click START and the update will start extracting files to the default location where CoPilot Central is installed to - this should be C:\Program Files\CoPilot\Central - if you have installed CoPilot Central to a different location, please ensure that the patch is installed to the appropriate location.
5. Once complete, start CoPilot Central and go into HELP | ABOUT and you should now see 0.5.108.0
Also to download the latest version of the mobile app manually try here...

I think most of the GPS programs do, but you could try out GPS tuner, which turns your phone into a gps (not turn by turn navigation).
is it posible to get talking street names for Tomtom7 on Tilt?
Hi
Yes I believe it is possible to have TTS on generic TomTom.
I have a small problem with voices. I am using a generic GPS with TomTom installed with 720.1868 version of Australian map installed. Works very well, but I would like to be able to have TTS. The version of TomTom supports TTS, but I cannot find how to instal computer voices, or find computer voices to instal, onto the Sd card. The original installation was done without using TTHome, so I have no idea how to use this, so simple instructions appreciated.
Thank you.

Well my room mate has tom tom 930 gps and the only voice in which he seem to get the street names is when he uses a particular voice, i have not tried that on my tilt with tom tom 7, i will try and put that voice on my phone and see if it tells me the street names and will get back to you
never mind just realised that the voices for tom tom mobile and tom tom stand alone gps are different.
Just came across this update for tomtom 7
http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/navcore_7.910.9185_TT_SIGNED.htc_diamond.cab
Seems to work OK on mine, but I never had any problems with lag

already posted here somewhere...
Thanks buddy
Does it just install over the top of your old one >????
crash to install for me with tomtom 7.910 already install in intern storage....
Edit:
Also crash after uninstall of the old version
works fine on my diamond and cruise
Might find that it conflicts with the maps you have from your "older" version....install at you peril
ok so you suggest me to remove everything about tomtom on my phone, to install it and reput all on?
Can someone explain the diferentes with previous version?
Willem
Ok i had wrong: you have to unzip the file, it's not a cab but a rar files ...
Inside of you have a cab of tomtom which installed IN the phone memory and NOT into the storage ...
And what about the autorun.exe?
I don't know ....
Yeah, problem with my licence card now ...
theres also a raphael version http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/navcore_7.910.9185_TT_SIGNED.htc_raphael.cab
i have yet to see differences in all of these TomTom updates...
Works fine on my diamond, but im using version 8 maps.
Also, i installed after a format so i had no existing tomtom on there.

kaos_king,
What device did you state that you were purchasing the maps for when buying the maps form the Tomtom shop?
I downloaded TT 7.910 via TTHome 2.5 without problem and installed a sample map. This is working fine, so i'm ready to purchase a map, but am unsure which device option to specify and indeed, whether it makes any difference as its a map only.
Thanks.
