Flash light for ... - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

"Flash light for X minutes" in the Notification setting, what does it do?
I have it set to 15 minutes in the Phone Missed Call, but I dont see anything different. When I got missed call, the phone wake up (LCD turned on), got the missed call icon, and that's it.
Anyone can explain?
Thanks.

It's supposed to flash the amber power light for the allotted time.

Hi
The LED options in Windows Mobile don't seem to work as they are overwritten by what HTC think should flash.
I wrote a program to make things better, see: http://www.modaco.com/downloads-file2400.html

XDA2i LEDs

Hi,
The two lights on top of the xda2i.
I know the left one goes blue when bluetooth is active and the right one goes amber when charging and flashes green when active but what do the other colours mean? The one on the right flases red sometimes but I don't have a low battery.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Tom
When it flashes Red it is an indication for something else, such as a Missed Call, New text message, new email, or other such event.
Go into Settings and select "Sounds and Notifications".
Select the "Notifications" tab.
Select any "Event". (such as Phone: Missed Call)
This will include a tick box option that says "Flash light for: ## minutes"
By changing these settings you can customise WHEN the right hand LED flashes and for how long it does, for the relevent events.
This option is not available for every event however, such as a new Activesync connection, as for this, there is not much point in it flashing.
Hope this helps,
Dazzer.
The left LED also flashes green when you have a Wireless Network connection
excellent, i had never seen the flash light bit before. thanks guys

Kaiser Notification & new sms

The phone is continuously blinking that I have a new sms!
I restarted, same thing!
I went through each and every sms in my inbox/email folders so that if one was "new" it would be read since I entered it.
Still blinking, so I uninstalled it, restarted and re-installed it. Still blinking!!
I then uninstalled it, restarted, installed it this time on my storage card, restarted and same! Still damn blinking.
I even turned off all light notifications and restarted, then enabled blinking, still blinking! I even changed lights but still blinked green and blue!
Wheres the malfunction?
thanks
Green blinks are normal for me, seem to mean the phone is on. And blue blinks means Bluetooth is on. This can be changed to some extent with a program, but I don't recommend it because the initial version of the program strangely doesn't allow setting the blue blink as an indicator of Bluetooth being on, which is SUCH a weird thing, since it's the default not only for this phone but pretty much for all phones with Bluetooth capability.

You are not familiar with this app called Kaiser Notification by Phil Lee.
It allows you to disable lights and then enable lights for different notifications.
So you can set it to blink green (right lamp) for new sms and blue for new email or vice versa.
You can have it blink amber for bluetooth on, red for missed call and green for phone in service.
Or you can turn off all blinking notifications.
Mine is blinking blue even though I have no new sms.
Hi
This problem has been reported before although I've never seen it. What seems to happen is Windows Mobile gets out of sync with the count of unread messages. The program itself just looks at these counts so if it is told by Windows Mobile there are 'x' unread messages it sets the LED flashing.
A fix is discussed here which requires using a registry editor to reset the counts. I'm working a newer version with some extra features and will look to change the code to either include this fix or to keep count of messages itself rather than use the Windows Mobile reported counts.
Hope the above helps.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for taking the time to create such a great app and the time to respond to errors. I checked the thread you referred to and it is literally exactly what im going through,e xcept I havent edited the registry yet.
Thanks again!

how do i hangup a call?

how do i hangup a call?
the screen is black and therefor inaccessible after a very short while so i cant use the
on-screen red end-call buttun, and also the button on the right-bottom (phone-icon down)
doesnt work!!! (or sporadically: cant put my fuinger on that yet....)
i tried the tweak where my screen will stay up while having a call, but that one doesnt seem
to work on my rom-version or so? (standard 1.35 dutch version).
is there another (or new) way to keep the screen up while on a call maybe?
please help: this is highly annoying as you probably understand.....
Thanks group!
The (hardware) button on the bottom right should work normally if you want to end a call. It could be that there is just a little leg between pressing it (once) and the phone actually responding to it.
If you want the screen to pop on during a call, just press the power button on top of the phone. Could have figured that out yourself... (even by searching the forum)
what a problem.... lol.. did you assign the hang up button to something else??
thx guys!
no, not assigned to something else.
the power-button is ok yes, thanks. still: the screens display should stay on, right?
thank you!
much appreciated

No the screen light will not stay on when your making a call. Simply put and its been repeated so many times on here now...that when you make a call the diamond light goes off as soon as the sensor senses that its near your ear...the sensor is next to the earpiece...clear little led light. What you can do to get around it...which is what i do is ring the number you want to ring and dont put it next to your ear until you get the vibrate ie when the call connects then put it next to your ear and the light should stay on...well it does on mine but if that dont work then when in a call just press the middle navigation button and that will turn the phone backlight on for you.

Spawn, you're absolutely wrong about the sensor... the screen light goes off regardless of whether you hold the phone against your face or not.. it's a timer..
Older phones like the Touch Cruise didn't have the sensor but yet it turns the backlight off after a few secs...
It's a timer setting in the Registry.
It turns the backlight off to save battery.

i thought spawn is right but i did a very simple experiment.
called my self from my fix phone and live the diamond on the table face up. i answered without picking the phone and after a few sec the light went off.
happyguy82-1, spawn and kukuriku-0
if there is a timer it has a registry and where there is a registry it has to be a "tweak".
btw, another way to have the light back and a safe background for yr ear is simply pull out the pen. you''ll get a note that will not bother anyone because it is not actionable by yr ear lol!
if you'll light on the screen with any other means you and your partner in the conversation will get for sure a few "beeps" when the phone pad is touched by yr ear.

Ermm no it doesnt...i just made a call to test your theory....didnt put the phone to my ear and when i did the light still stayed on. Left the diamond still connected for about a min or so and still the light stayed on...
On my phone i have the TLR version 1 rom running and made a few adjustments in the power settings so dont know if thats made any difference to the light staying on etc.

you are right ...i think i didn't pickup the phone but i was too close, looking at the screen....and that was enough to start the sensor.
checked again keeping asafe distance from the phone and the screen doesn't turn off...

Diamond 2 notification leds

Hi
I just received mine today, I was so consumed by messing around with settings and all programs that I just found that only one led is working on my phone - orange one during charging. Do you have the same? No notification about wifi/bluetooth/whatever during normal usage and it seams to me this model has 2 leds around front speaker. Do I have damaged phone, is it default behaviour or maybe I need to turn somehow those notifications??
There is only one on the D2. It's on the left. The right side is a light sensor to automatically adjust the screen brightness.
For notifications to show (flash green), go to settings/sounds and notifications and tick 'flash light' under email, mms, etc.
Thank you WMguy you saved my day
I experienced the same panic till i read the manual! But I really miss the "in service" flashing green light. It's useful as a quick check that the phone's in range and WM hasn't frozen and switched off as my last phone sometimes did.
I've already searched unsuccessfully, but if anyone knows a simple app to turn the one LED into a "in service" light I'd be grateful.

Disable keypad light when receiving an sms, or during a missed call reminder is on,

I want to know if theres a way to totally disable the htc diamond keypad light, when an sms is received, during a missed call has been registered on my device and while it is charging... because i really dont like that.
I have seen this registry key: HKCU/ControlPanel/Notification/
There are some keys that start with {A877... the value there are in minutes, so if tehere is a 5 the ligth will be turned on for 5 min, 60 for an hour...
I want to disable it 4 ever... can u help me?
I haven't really tried it so I'm not sure it works, but I know there's an option to turn it off under the Settings tab > Sounds > Advanced > Notifications.
I'm assuming if you uncheck the "Flash light for" option for each event you want (or don't want) under the dropdown menu, it'll take away the effect. Lol, I guess I like shiny things though, so I can't understand why anyone would want to turn it off.
Not acting. Why to turn off ? Battery. The phone is in the cover how I won't hear the bell this LED is shining through e.g. doesn't have the hour and a few per cent of the tension
