Official WM6 upgrade for Titan - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

I saw, through a post on the Titan section, an upgrade page: http://www.htcamerica.net/support/p4000/software-downloads.html providing an official WM6 ROM. I'm rather a noob, but I thought someone might know if this would be useful or not, for our Wizards.
Cheers

HTC clearly stated there will be NO official WM6 updates for Wizard. That's why there are so many custom WM6 ROMs

I didn't mean to infer the ROM is for the Wizards.
It is built for the Titan. However, maybe this may be of use to anyone wishing to ?port? the ROM for Wizards? I just hope someone can find this build useful.

Why porting that? There are already many ported and customized Wizard ROMs floating around!

Newbie -ROM Version and upgrade question

:?
I am a newbie with an O2 XDA Mini S
ROM Version:1.1.7.5
ROM date:9/22/05
Radio Version:01.08.10
Protocol Version:4.0.13.18
Ext ROM Version:1.1.7.105
Would like to know which is the best ROM version and procedures to update the ROM And is it possible to install a different manufactures ROM such t-mobile,qtec etc to this 02 Device !!
Pls Guide me through !
Thanks.
Xdawiz,
...cute name for a newbie! The people here expect you to do your research (and I don't blame them!!) ....that means combing through posts as others before you did. This does take time and energy. For procedures to upgrade a ROM I suggest you do a search as there are quite a few posts that tell you how to do it (hint: including one of mine).
The best ROM version??? No one will be able to tell you that becasue it depends on what you are looking for and what you use your phone for and how many problems are you willing to deal with. Do you want the latest and greatest?? Summiters Cingualr AKU 2.3 is awesome! 8) Some of the older ones though have had more testing time and therefore have been refined more. Try going through the AKU2.3 thread and seeing what some of the issues are and if they are ones you can work with. Many of them already have fixes that are quick and easy. Also...maybe look at the "Mr. Clean" AKU 2.3 thread and see whats going on with that one as it does not have any carrier custimizations.
...the only question I can not answer is using a Cingular ROM for an O2 device. Never payed much attention to it since I am a Cingular customer - but the issue is addressed in the thread - read carefully I think you'll find good news!!!
If you want to upgrade your phone and you want to do it right you have to read the threads and the directions!!! There is no easy process. Look at people's IDs and their signatures to see if they are also O2 users.
GOOD LUCK!!!
ms_guy99,
Thankyou verymuch for ur reply !Atleast therz someone in this planet to listen to me.
Planning to upgrade to Cingular ROM.As i asked i have certain doubts to clear before i make my phone dead !Thtz why i am seeking expertise help!
Sorry if i am troubling !

Cooked Roms?

Hi guys,
Is there already a cooked ROM available (maybe I missed it: don't flame me please!)? I didn't see anything mentioned in the Wiki about cooked ROM's anyway.
I now run a Dutch Orange branded ROM which I'm not completely happy with.
we dont even have an unlocker made yet, much less the ability to flash unsigned code to the device.... so no, there are no cooked roms yet
is there any question about there being cooked rom's in the future ?
just curious, i've never messed with any of that stuff.
have there been HTC devices that were impervious to that sort of thing ?

does anyone know if there's an official wm 06?

could anyone give me the link to get this?
As you are asking in the Himalaya section, I assume your question is in relation to there being an official WM6 rom for this device.
The answer is no. There is not even an official WM5 rom for the Himalaya.
My understanding is that WM2003 and 2003SE were the last official roms.
Microsoft makes its money by combining with manufactures to sell a device complete with an OS. That way, when people want a new OS, the only official route is generally to purchase a new device, thereby keeping both Microsoft and manufacturers happy.
Microsoft, I believe, allows updating within a certain ROM (as of WM5), but not an upgrade to a certain ROM.
thank u for ur quick reply there.. now i understand

and then manualy translated to english by people from this site
Yes I believe you are correct about it only being officially released in Chinese, though I vaguely remember something about it being on an official site in Ireland, or possibly on the XDAII fan site (but taken from the official site). If I get a chance I will investigate.
Edit1: Here is the link to the one mentioned above by Rudegar.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=230279
And here is the other links I was mentioning (about the Rom for Irish users and users in the UK) however it was only an update to 2003, not the 2003SE Rom. Having said that, it is probably the last official update (though may not work the same on all roms if it was only made for those two areas). Also note that this is software, v1.72.181, and there was a v1.72.187, though I am out of my league discussing it (I know nothing about it, nor where to find it officially).
http://www.o2blackberry.net/xda2_soft.html
Edit2: FURTHER note, the extra software mentioned on the software page on the above link includes a program built to run on WM2003SE as it states, which to me suggests that they made an official rom for 2003SE or at least they were aware other people made one and were more than happy for it to exist.
Cheers

New AT&T Tilt Owner - Need some guidance

Hello,
I am new to this site, I've read and read about the cooked ROMS for the HTC phones. I'm anxious for the 6.1 update to come out for AT&T, anyone know when this will come out? I know that the TyTn II update came out, but when I log into HTC's website, it's nowhere to be found. However, if I decide to go with a Cooked ROM, can someone direct me to what I first need to do to prepare my phone for it, and where I can load the latest Cooked ROM?
Also, anyone who was scared to brick their phone and did the Cooked ROM how is it and what do you recommend?
One last thing, if I do load a cooked ROM on my phone, and AT&T releases the 6.1 update, I could easily update it with that correct?
Any help is appreciated.
...................... Ok. Search through this site and read!! It will tell you how to do everything. I hereby introduced you to the flaming...
I've read through the thread that was posted today, but was curious if I needed to install a cooked rom or if I could install this on the AT&T ROM. I want to know the success of this because I don't want to brick my phone. Thanks.
When it comes to technology, nothing is forever. You can flash a different cooked rom and always flash back to the original state. Once again search. Everyone has different flavors so you are bound to get different opinions on which ROM is suitable for you. Go to the Kaiser-Rom and Developement thread and look around. Read Read Read. When you feel comfortable attempt a ROM upgrade.
P.S.
Why would you want to flash a 6.1 ROM on the HTC site (whenever it comes out)
Their are chefs on this forum that make way better ROMs withougt all the junk apps nobody uses. Just my 2 cents.
I think we can close this thread now.
which rom are you using? On my tilt, I just have the WM 6.0 not the 6.1. I've tried the HTC site, and I've read that it's out, but nowhere to be found on HTC's site. I've signed up as a e-club member. But I'll keep looking.

Rom Updates / Customs roms (from a newbie)

Hi All,
I've just got my new Touch HD but have never entered the world of custom roms before.
My current ROM is 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE dated 10/24/08. I've just updated the radio version to 1.10.25.25. My HD seems quite slow and generally I'm quite disappointed with it. That said I was quite disappointed with my HTC Tytn until HTC released a new rom.
From reading this forum there seem to be many happy people so I suspect that the software in my phone is more at fault. I've seen the new Arabian rom that has been posted. It obviously won't install on my UK model (I'm not tied to a mobile carrier) without me tinkering, but I wondered if there would be any benefit in me uploading it. Does it invalidate my warranty or can I reset the original rom should I need it repaired?
As a rule do custom rom makers use the latest offical release and then tweak them? What are the benefits?
I'm sorry for so many newbie questions. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction of some great "simple" instructions I would be grateful.
Regards
Jonathan

hi bro welcome to XDA.
Everything regarding flashing, upgrading and choosing from cookded roms , official roms and valuable information can be found here for Touch HD thank to HDUSER for updating here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone
good luck
The first couple of pages in the wiki are a bit complex if you're new to all this and have never customised your phone. Loads of unneccessary info (which is nice to know, but not always important). The easiest way by far to flash your ROM would be using SPL and flashing from your SDcard. Search the forum, as there one or two threads specifically abpout flashing for n00bs.
There's one specifically I'm thinking about which really helped me out, but I have no idea anymore which one it is and I can't be arsed to search for it for you Search is your friend (search for: flashing ROM n00b newbie).
