Hi Guys:
Is there a player that can read all (most of) the video formats?
I have TCPMP which is fantastic but it cannot read rmvb.
Yeah, I know I can convert rmvb to avi or divx... but you know... well...
Anyway, thx in advance!
You need Real Player to play .rmvb
Try this :

And let us know the result

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
Anyone know the best format for playback? So I've used standard MP4 with 24 AAC sound. It's OK on windows media player, but I'm gonna try to improve sound quality.

TCPMP!!!!! With Raw or DirectDraw drivers, works great for me!
i am currently using Magic DVD ripper which converts my movies/tv shows into avi's suitable for pda. File size is pretty big but it's pretty much perfect quality and great sound. oh and play them in TCPMP of course. I think my transformers movie is about 1.7gig

TCPMP is the business... it's free, it runs pretty much any video file, and it's just as fast as WMP.

am using divx to convert now...but would like to ask how will the quality of core media player if compared to it?
the quality of the file converted is not that bad...but will core media better?

Interesting, with such a helpful guy around, live is easy
As I could not find an addon for the media player to accept .avi I switched to Coreplayer. No regrets, but why use 2 programs where one could do the job?
So mr Fruitcake, please expose your sources.
Regards,
Player
The free playert is nice, but drags along - very low frames per minute it seems
what's the best video player that works well with FUZE??!?! pref. one that supports all popular formats..back in the days i used to use TCPMP 0.72 on my tilt..it worked very well..

Not always, dependent on format, but agree is best allround player. Better results can be had if willing to encode specifically for Album/WMP..

That will play smooth, You can up the video bitrate but on small screen not going to tell much above 600
I tried rock player lite, but it doesn't play hd vids very smoothly; I transcoded Star Trek 2009 to mp4, and its very jerky and doesn't play smooth..
Any other video players that you guys might recommend?
thanks so much; lovin' this damn thing!!!

The best I have used so far is MoboPlayer (http://moboplayer.com/moboplayer_en.html) You have to use the medium version since the Xoom doesn't support Neon. This is the only player I could get to play 720p video smoothly. Hope that helps and if you find something better let me know!

I tried this and it works the best out of all i have tried. Make sure you get the medium version and not the Neon version.
unfortunately, mobo player does not recognize .m4v files, which is how I have saved my ripped Blu rays..

tried renaming them as mp4? usually does the trick for me if i recall. the two formats are almost identical.
I have had no trouble using the stock video player to play 720p videos encoded into a mp4 file. I would go that route and use the hardware decoding

thanks; doing that, and encoding 720p instead of 1080p seemed to fix it!
Any news on the android version of VLC??

The Xoom can easily handle 720p videos. I haven't tested 1080. It all depends on how you encode the video.
From what I've seen on the threads and in personal experience, there are really only two viable players: the Android native video player, and RockPlayer. Between these two, you should be able to enjoy all your video, provided you have encoded them correctly.
I hate converting videos, thats why i use mobo. Its played all my videos great. Much better than Rock played, vplayer advance same spot.
found one!
Vital player will play everything for me, including 1080p videos that I have encoded with Handbrake..
Loving this thing!!
rockplayer and the stock video player handles blu rays i convert with handbrake very well
I tried different players and playback quality is mostly the same. Perhaps minor, but I like the interface in mVideoPlayer - posters, IMDB links etc.
I have said it before and Ill say it again. Your best bet for video is to get PLEX. As of this writing it is still not Honeycomb ready. As a beta tester working with the devs, I can tell you that its playing video like a champ on my Xoom and a release to public should be coming very soon.
what good is telling us that here if WE can't download it yet?
you should wait until its released before you keep posting that here..

Two reasons really.
Lets face facts that the majority of us here own a Xoom because we are Android nerds and already own a Android phone. So purchasing Plex on your phone will give you access to it on your Xoom when its available. In truth you can install it on your Xoom already, the video just does not work in the current release.
Two there is no quicker way to know about its updated release for Honeycomb compatibility then to have it already installed and letting the market inform you.
Lastly this is a community page and a community OS, so keeping others informed is kind of the way things work. If you have a problem with someone telling you that there will soon be an app released that will do X, but you cant have it yet, mumble quietly to yourself, but keep it to yourself.

Do you mean using stock player in hardware decoding mode?
How do you do this? I can't find the options for the stock player.
Thanks
QQPlayer is free and doesnt want any special permissions
Hi,
I use QQPlayer. It plays everything I have thrown at it and it does not need any special permissions to install.
