I'm sry say, that to my little knowledge,it's not possible.Haven't heard of any such software. To connect to a dvd or any monitor directly,u require a special data cable with one end usb connector and other end a A/V connector.Never heard of any such connector

[Q] HDMI and speaker line out question

Hi to all
Has anyone tried the above?
Connecting the dock's HDMI to TV watch the picture in tv and try at this moment if speakers line out 3,5 jack had audio output signal? or it has no output and the sound is only going through the HDMI cable?
If anyone please has the dock, check this and give me the results.
Thanks in advance
The best conection for playing back Galaxy TAB video, picture and music files was,
GT with it USB cable on Mass Storage connection + TV with USB port & media play function.
The benefits from this conection was,
1. Single cable connection.
2. Only need connect GT to TV USB port, so less works & movements retriction between TV, couch/bed, power socket.
3. TV not only playback GT files but also provide power charging to GT. fter playback 1 hour of Full HD video, my GT battery power now up to 71% from initial around 50%+ (can't remeber the exact number).
4. Able to move around GT directory & playback files using one TV remote control. That's saving troubles of using 2 devices, GT screen + TV remote.
The thing is not a TV with USB, I have not a USB TV, I had used the dock in my Toshiba connected with HDMI cable and I have perfect video but NO SOUND at all, I had not found a solution yet, I had tried with several HDMI cables, still no sound.
I cannot find any settings for the HDMI, in the Tab.
Has anyone has any solution?
I had read that a lot of Galaxy Tab owners had HDMI sound problems.
The bad thing is when the TAB sees the HDMI connection mutes the sound in the tab and drives it through the HDMI cable.
The 3.5 Jack audio out in the back of the dock has no sound, when HDMI is connected
Any solution??

that's a really good question and makes a lot of sense. for the 2nd poster, I think almost all of us do not have usb inputs on our tvs. lucky you though
if the hdmi out sends pic + audio but the audio out is still available in the 1/8" adapter or another method then it would be really good.
would be amazing if the tab had digital audio out through a standards compliant consumer digital audio cable (rca or fibre) though
oh well, I'm dreaming right now.

Is it possible???

Is it possible to SGS's video OUT(or HDMI out) to Laptop/desktop PC ??
That's kina stupid question. Why do you need video or hdmi out on a pc or a laptop? Just use theusb cable and connect it with the computer. Then either copy the video files on your pc and play them or play them from the phone's memory.

if that so, Samsung is stupid to provide TV-out function for smartphones
Well, it's one thing connecting the phone to a pc and to a TV and you should pick your questions more carefully coz you said

and frankly wanting TV-out to connect your phone to a pc is pointless. Anyway, sgs doesn't support hdmi connection and there are VGA cables made for TV-out that connect to the 3.5mm audio jack of the phone but you only get low resolution and I'm not sure if laptops and pcs have those plugs.

See, actually I wanted to see games/apps on a big screen. Instead of buying costly expensive Tv-out cable, why not have video-out through micro-USB cable to PC (which can be a cheapest way) and that also in HD format, this is what I meant !
But as you said SGS doesn't support HDMI, destroyed all my hopes regarding HDMI out on laptop. Thanks you very much for replying and sorry for creating confusion.hehe!

[Q] Now I need the name of some Accessories, Please help me !

but it involves connecting X8 ( which is a phone )
1st - If I am not wrong you are looking for a micro-usb to HDMI cable.
2nd - You may want to search for a dvd player that supports pendrives.

The X8 doesn't have a MHL enabled usb port nor any kind of tv-out.. there is no way you can connect it to a television.

You have media players like the WD TV live, the Roku or some other cheap ones like the nbox, etc
Most cheap digital tv receivers also have a usb port so you can watch movies but they are very codec limited..

If your TV supports USB drive, then connect phone with USB cable to TV and make the phone in Mass Storage mode. There you can access all files and folders from the TV.

didnt know that x8 dont support mhl. there is a box support a lot of codec and got vga out. - Diyomaye 3835HD

MHL to VGA

Are there MHL to VGA adapters available that are know to work with the 4x?
Or is MHL standardized enough that i can pick any MHL to VGA without any worrying about working?
I know HDMI is usually better but my HMD (tac eye) takes only VGA or SVideo (though SVideo quality really suxx, its only on for NV not for data).
Also I see some MHL to VGA adapters have a secondary USB port, can this be used only as client or could I somehow connect a pointing device to my phone?
If I were you i would take MHL to HDMI cable and then HDMI to VGA. Reason is simple. Sometime you may want to connect your phone to new TV so you will need HDMI as it is standard port.
Secondary USB port is microUSB and it is used to charge phone while conected to TV (at least thats how it works with MHL to HDMI cable).

Well, for me this would than look like: MHL-HDMI adapter connected to a HDMI-VGA adapter connected to VGA-"Proprietary HMD Port" thats in used space and weight more for the adapters than for the phone and HMD. As i intent to wear this on my body thats rather not cool. Also the HDMI-VGA adapter will want some juice what will be an additional drain on my batteries.
The "VGA-"Proprietary HMD Port" is passive, so if I like the setup I will probably cut the MHL-VGA adapter open and attache the signal lanes directly to a fitting plug for my HMD.
Also I don't own a TV just a 30" WQXGA Dell Monitor with a Duallink DVI port its one of the old models that had only Duallink DVI, no scaling no DVI no VGA and no other ports.
An other issue would be how to control the phone when it in my pocket, how can I attache some pointing device and would this even work with android OS?
Or would I have to wait for an unlocked bootloader and this cool ubuntu on phone projects that provide a full ubuntu desktop?
PS: is the micro usb port on the adapter only used for charging or is there still a USB signal on it?
David
If i got you right, you want to control phone, connected to PC monitor, over HDM goggles?
You can try something like this https://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
It is a software that enables remote control of your phone over WiFi, so if your goggles work on PC it should work here to. It does the same job as the cable connection (MHL to VGA)
As for the MHL to VGA adapter you have 4 connectors:
1) male microUSB (one you connect to your phone)
2) female microUSB (charger or power supply, so it doesn't use phone battery)
3) female VGA (for monitor)
4) 3,5 audio jack for sound

Not exactly I don't want to use a PC at all. I want to connect the HMD (Vuzix-Tac-Eye-LT-Monocular) directly to the phone and use some pointing device or mini keyboard to control the phone.
I have the adapter and a problem,
the phone is only giving out its native screen resolution, my HMD cant handle.
How can I change the resolution so SVGA ?
